I don't think he's ever mentioned it but given his family history and his general interests I would imagine photography and or local journalism would have probably been what he ended up doing.
He absolutely fits the model of the local columnist who has a regular featured weekly column syndicated statewide for 30 years. He even looks like that kind of guy.
This is the answer.... Cornette's Corner would have been a staple of the the Lousiville Courier-Journal. Not only did he journal everything in his active career anyway. But he's insanely articulate in his opinion rants.
and before he died Cornette's father basically was the king of print news media in Louisville, I think he was the president of the Courier-Journal in fact.
I never heard that his dad was president, but he was well connected in the company, which also owned a TV station and radio station in Lousiville.
They probably would have given him a job just based on his last name.
I looked it up to find out what the reality is. So Jim's father, Doug Cornette, was the Business Manager of the Louisville Courier-Journal and the Louisville Times and served as Vice President of both papers, which are the positions he held at the time of his death. Fun fact, Jim's dad was also instrumental in founding the National Spelling Bee which makes Jim's fury at Vince Russo's inability to spell much funnier to me for some reason.
I find it odd that he’s not interested in photography anymore. He was really into cutting edge technology when he was young with still and professional video cameras, VCRs, video editing for broadcast, local and national broadcasting. Seems primitive in 2024, but it was sophisticated at the time. Then he turned Luddite. It’s a shame he doesn’t have a good mirrorless camera kit and know how to edit photos on a computer. Get him posting pics of Harley and old sites around Louisville on Instagram and Flickr. He’d enjoy it. Doesn’t even know how to watch Netflix.
I remember him saying he would probably have gone into radio. Makes sense, he’s the best at it in the wrestling space.
My guess is either a radio host, a photographer, or a newspaper writer. He still keeps up with his local news even though it’s not his job, so it’s something he’s naturally interested in.
The true answer is of course a small town bird lawyer.
I wonder if he always had the "promo" going on? If he did he would have made a great color/analyst type guy for anything.
But my guess, given his background would be towards journalism/photography.
I'll say this even though he'd hate it. With his verbal ability I have virtually no doubt that had he been born the same year as me (1990) he would be a very successful rapper.
Manager at a Wendy’s
I will only serve the original goddamn meat. And until Dave Thomas shows up and tells me to stop that’s the way it is. And bring your dog in I don’t care what the health department says if you bring a dog you get an order fries for free. But no goddamn kids leave them at home. -Jim Cornette Employee of the Month.
All jokes aside I could see Jim in local tv as a weatherman.
Small town bird lawyer
This is the answer, lol
Pretty sure photographer
I don't think he's ever mentioned it but given his family history and his general interests I would imagine photography and or local journalism would have probably been what he ended up doing.
Could definitely see him being a local journalist legend

In that case, Russo would be a giant middle finger to his father's attempts at improving child literacy across America.
Literally a generation spanning feud.
That or a string of wrestling magazines.
He did on a previous episode a few years back. I want to say it was either photographer or journalist.

boomers gonna boom.
I was thinking the same thing. Something like he said he’d probably follow in his dad’s footsteps
Yeah, that sounds familiar.
Something far away from technology
“*sigh*, And then Brian that’s when my dvr stopped recording….”
He's mentioned being a writer/journalist.
Yes this is the answer, if I remember correctly he has said a few times “if not for wrestling I would have been a writer for the local paper”
Bdsm equipment design
CANDID Photographer???
Say no more, say no more!
With his dad's connections, I always thought he'd have been a journalist or editor.
Pimp
I swear he said writer
Teacher
He mentioned radio on one of the podcasts

Comedian
Corny standing on a stage telling wrestling stories and cracking jokes would break the internet.
I usually laugh hysterically at least once during his weekly reviews of AEW Dynamite.
Candid Photography.
Carnival Barker
Post office ninja.

Sports journalism id say, I think his father was a political commentator, could totally see corny doing that, too 😂
Corny is not really deep into sports, but he definitely would have been a journalist - probably a newspaper man...
He's never said it explicitly but I thought a grammar teacher
He isn't good at tennis - I'll tell you this much. ;-) Now, ranged weapon combat sports with a racket-shaped object on the other hand...
I'll say this even though he'd hate it. With his verbal ability I have virtually no doubt that had he been born the same year as me (1990) he would be a very successful rapper.
Kindergarden teacher
As others have said, he would have been a journalist, but I think he would have wound up on TV or radio eventually
Singer
I vaguely remember him saying something like radio, iirc.

I'm curious of his opinion on Hunter S.Thompson.
Used car salesman
