Never go to Walmart for anything automotive

villageidiot33

I remember coworker telling me when he got out of work he got back to a puddle of oil. He told me next day and said all he had done was get an oil change at Wal-Mart. I just said, “ah, say no more.” He drove it with oil leaking. Not a smart man.

w1987g

I got wiper blades from there once...

imfirealarmman

I buy wiper blades there all the time. But I install them myself.

DJErikD

They’re the cheapest for Mobil1 when it goes on sale.

jimmy9800

They were cheaper than our wholesale price at chevy.

DJErikD

Same for AGM batteries. Only ones left with 4-year warranty and cheaper than everyone else. Oil and batteries are all I buy from them.

Noturwrstnitemare

Just hate when I need it they are not for sale.... but when they go on sale, I already have it!!!

FancyFerrari

Hopefully you don’t need to use the battery warranty. Took a battery I had bought from them 6 months ago that was 100% dead (10.7V). They required an initial test then a second test that took 90 minutes before they would swap it out for a new one

krunkytacos

I mean 100% dead would be 0 volts. Typically when we see 10.7 volts that indicates one dead cell(2.1v)or an intermittent internal open/short. 100% dead to the customer though, because it won't start your damn car. Edit: the battery tester Toyota rolled out a couple years ago takes up to 2 hours to test and charge and retest a battery to get warranty authorization and have the claim actually paid. It's stupid and I hate it I'm not defending the industry.

jimmy9800

Pro tip. Keep a bad cell battery under your bench for when you know the battery is dead and you want your bay cleared out quicker. If it's the same tester I'm thinking of, it'll fail it pretty quick.

krunkytacos

Yeah but we don't say that

naterussell3395

Or use a test light hooked up to the negative of the battery and to the negative of the tester and bam instant load test fail

FancyFerrari

Correct, dead to me. 10.7 V after charging for 24 hours 😂

trucks_guns_n_beer

I keep a brand of batteries on the shelf at work. When they go out of date… 6 months or so, where do they go? They get a new date sticker and head on over to a big box store… enjoy your savings .

geekolojust

That's fukken nuts when they beat bulk oil pricing with a bottle. Nice.

Monst3r_Live

And for me penzoil platinum by 15 bucks for 5l jug.

whereisyourwaifunow

i also bought my current battery from there, the maxx version. 7 years and battery test seems fine. will probably replace it before the winter as a precaution

HerbanFarmacyst

ProjectFarm said their oil filters are the best bang for the buck

regular-wolf

**Very impressive!**

ArcticSlalom

They’re off to the races! Looks like Pennzoil with an early lead!

Distribution-Radiant

They're rebadged Wix filters for $3-5. Yeah, damn good bang for the buck.

ShoddyJuggernaut975

ProjectFarm doesn't say anything, he yells everything.

Jesuswasstapled

Does he?

FesteringNeonDistrac

I watch videos in 2x time with CC on and rhe sound muted, so who knows.

vulcansheart

When you think oil filter, you think bang for the buck?

JB153

Fewer bucks you spend, the bigger the bang.

BigdongarlitsDaddy

True for a lot of things, except hookers.

F488P

Bro there are several things I save money on with my car. Tires, oil filter, oil, maintenance/service. Several things I don’t worry about money: car washes, chain link steering wheel, rims, led lights under the car, elaborate horn sounds, speaker system

Jesuswasstapled

330,000 miles using whatever synthetic oil is cheapest at Walmart/amazon. Using Toyota brand filters because they're cheap when you buy a case.

HerbanFarmacyst

I think a $3 oil filter is better than a $20 oil filter of the same construction

vulcansheart

A $3 oil filter is not the same construction as a $20 oil filter, unless you are buying it from somewhere with an extreme markup. Just stick with the OEM for your vehicle. Most big brand dealers sell them right from the parts department. I pay about $6-7 for Genuine Honda filters

Distribution-Radiant

Walmart's store brand filters (Supertech) are rebadged Wix filters.

diablo4megafan

i'll never go oem after working at a gm dealership, their cartridge filters collapse in on themselves after 5k, and the interval is like 8k-10k. i've seen the wix ones go 13k and still maintain shape.

SuspiciousBuilder379

Lol. And who do you think makes that filter? It’s not Honda. I don’t buy BMW filters. I buy Xengst or Mann, all you’re paying for is the name.

vulcansheart

Yes, I'm aware it's not Honda actually making the filters from their own factories. Generally, they are Toyo or Honeywell. That said, I never said the issue is with *who* makes the filter. The issue is to what specification the filter is made. Generally, the automotive manufacturer provides specifications to the parts supplying OEM, which defines materials, oil flow rates, capacities, etc. A substandard $3 filter often will not meet these specifications due to inadequate materials or design inefficiencies.

sambolino44

And batteries.

timmehkuza

Did they catch on fire

sms552

I did too and had to return them because their book is wrong.

FATRN

I bought wiper blades from there once. The package contained used junk wiper blades.

megamanxoxo

Go to Costco or Amazon for those. Way better deal.

seamus205

They put a battery in my silverado once. They managed to fuck that up and i had to go back and redo it myself

Take-Me-Home-Tonight

I buy my mobile 1 oil there. That's about it.

DrZedex

Their cheap super tech oil has always tested great when I send samples to Blackstone. But I admit I can't bring myself to put it in my GR Corolla.

mountaineer30680

I use it in my F150. Full synthetic 20w50. She's 11 years old with 180k and runs like a top. It comes from Lucas's Indianapolis from what I've been able to glean and Blackstone says it's great. It was recommended on several F150 forums. 🤷 Edit: 5w20. 20w50 is what goes in the Harley.

Distribution-Radiant

It's Warren oil, same as Costco. Their filters are also rebadged Wix filters, AFAIK. Supertech is surprisingly good. But they don't use Supertech in the service center.

iforgotalltgedetails

Worked in the service centre when I started out in the industry. It was bulk penzoil with any of the high mileage and synthetics coming off the shelf

flying_trashcan

Also supposedly comes from the same place as Amazon and Costco oil. I’ve got the best price per quart from Costco when the Kirkland oil goes on sale. I’ve been running it for years in various different daily drivers without issue.

imfirealarmman

I’m going to try the new Havoline in a box. It’s 6 quarts instead of 5 for the 5 quart price.

TruckTires

Good oil and the 6qt box is an excellent value. I'm waiting for the 5w30 full synthetic to come back in stock. I don't want the lifelong stuff. My advice, after you rip the cardboard at the location for the plastic bladder spout to pour in your oil, thoroughly blow off the box to get the tiny pieces of cardboard off of it or they'll fall into your funnel. Happened to me the first time I used it

These_Pool_623

I've been using Havoline-in-a-box for years in my various old GMT400 trucks (10w40). You can not beat the price. $14.88 at Walmart for 6 qts

Take-Me-Home-Tonight

I'd try that, by my car Take 8.8 quarts so either way buying two large bottles

2BlueZebras

They had Valvoline gear oil there I needed that was roughly 25% cheaper than my local autoparts store. Totally worth it.

akarichard

You know what I used to not be a big fan, but then I was moving coast to coast and blew a trailer tire, but I always have a spare. And then a little further I had crazy bad luck and lost another tire. Walmart was the only tire shop in the area open on Sunday. And even though they said they were booked full to close, I explained my situation and they fit me in. So I have a hard time knocking them when they saved me an entire day of travel and fit me in when they didn't have to.

theshiyal

Happened to me yesterday. bought an older beater truck and drove it two hours home. Have a flat about halfway home. Decent size town, all the tire shops are closed at 5pm on a Saturday but they were open. Got it fixed and home.

Sea-Assignment-4498

2023 outlander doesn't come with a spare tire. Sealant and air pump.

gigafant67

Neither did my 2019, the air pump is great, but I personally wont use the sealant

Rude_E_Gobear

same thing happened to me, summertime in Utah. Blew trailer tire and spare, Walmart was only thing open. However, i would never take my car there for service.

akarichard

We can agree on that lol I do my own maintenance. Too many horror stories from friends and family getting taken advantage of or clueless techs over tightening everything or forgetting to plug stuff back in.

Jesuswasstapled

Yep. Sears used to also be open on Sunday but all those closed. Sams club also does tires on Sunday.

CurnanBarbarian

I used to work for a Walmart call center and got a call about a guy who had his car backed off a raised lift by a Walmart tech. Not a chance in hell I'd ever take anything there.

Jesuswasstapled

Gimme a w. A. L. Squiggle. M. A..r. t. I liked working for walmart.com.

itsthatguy1991

>Never go to Walmart

toddverrone

I’ve gotten tires there loads of times with no problems

PinkertonFld

Yup, and I've gotten tires at America's (aka Discount) Tires and had them break two studs because the tech didn't know that commercial trucks have left hand threads marked with big L's on the end... Two broken before they "figured it out". It's not the place, but the tech. I just watch them, lucky for me my Walmart has a large glass window so I can watch them work and can yell if they're screwing up.

TiresareHeavy83

What are you driving? One of them Import box trucks or some old cab over?

PinkertonFld

Isuzu/Chevy NPR

Swamp_Donkey_7

I get my oil there. Cheapest around. But I take it home and change it myself. I wouldn’t Walmart add windshield washer fluid in my car

forgottensudo

I buy my batteries there.

forgottensudo

I install them myself…

kwajagimp

Nah, dude - all you got to remember is *sudo battery-pb -install*. It's the cheat code.

forgottensudo

See, I keep forgetting those commands

amaurer3210

I do too. And then I exchange them after a year for a full refund. And then sometimes I do it again at 2 years for a 50% credit. I'm sure they're a private label version of the major manufacturers anyway, and the warranty is great.

newarkian

I got free tires for a commercial mower there. When I went to pick up my order, the employee just handed them to me without scanning them. The Walmart app thought I never got them and credited my account.

burrito_magic

My boss makes me pay for the oil change in my work vehicle then reimburses me. But always goes on about price when I would take it to the dealer. Have been taking it to Walmart for years now. If something happens it’s not my truck so what do I care.

Subieworx

Never go to Walmart…

iaintgotnosantaria

only for the supplies if the price is nice, do it in the parking lot yourself

CarCounsel

Except to buy jugs of oil or die cast cars.

coppertech

i buy their cheap ass oil and filters for my beater project cars

Outrageous-Carob-236

dont disrespect my boy like that he know what he doing he just dont like all that extra.

MadeMeStopLurking

I'd buy wipers at the dealership and have them installed for $150 before I'd even use the self service air pump at Walmart.

medney

They filled my buddy's car tire to 102 PSI and caused a huge belt separation bubble, that thing was a nightmare to deal with. Basically bomb squad roleplay

FaceDesk4Life

Age 22 in like 1998. Bought first ever new tires from Walmart. Paid extra for a 2 year 40k mile warranty or something and road hazard service. It was a big moment for me because I grew up broke and all my tires were $5 junkyard tires, but I was beginning to do a little better in life financially and could finally afford to buy some safe tires. Two weeks later a belt broke in one badly. Went back to Walmart and the lady at the counter tells me the tech says it’s past the tread wear warranty. Uh, I bought a mileage warranty not tread wear warranty and the tire is two weeks old. She come back saying the tread wear warranty is to prevent people from burning rubber and killing the tire and ripping off the warranty company. Lady, this tire is mounted on the rear of a front wheel drive POS Chevy Beretta. How the hell am I smoking the tires? Wtf kind of tire did you sell me that the tread wears so much that it shows false evidence of roasting the tires on the back of a front wheel drive family car? And that’s the day I stopped buying anything from Walmart. EDIT: Actually I recall I’ve made one purchase from Walmart since then. Everyplace was out of premade pie crusts the day before Thanksgiving in 2019 so I went into Walmart and they had one.

imfirealarmman

o7 This man living our dream

tehjeffman

Never buy a bike or get auto work at a Walmart. The people putting the bikes together or working on your car are the same people that fail to put together displays grills properly.

spidey0619

I worked as an assembler for a bit. I always made sure to assemble stuff well. But the company liked hiring anyone, and I ended fixing their stuff. One time I had to spend a whole day fixing bikes because a kid got hurt from a badly built bike. There were many uptighten bolts, loose wheels and handlebars put on backwards.

Ch3ncerPau1

I flipped over my handlebars when I was about 13 from a badly built Walmart bike. Might've been me lmao

tehjeffman

Was a bike tech long ago. Was asked to be an expert witness in a claim like this but someone got impaled.

spidey0619

From what I was told, the store manager was told they were getting sued because the kid got launched when braking and got hurt.

midnightstreetlamps

My dad had all his front teeth knocked out from something similar. He was riding down a hill, went to turn. The handlebars turned, the wheel stayed straight, and he went teakettle, teeth first onto the curb.

Sea-Assignment-4498

Walmart wasn't even around when I was a kid. Toys r Us,and Johnny's toys. Never had a bike issue.

stu8319

Western-Bug-2873

"Le grill? What the hell is that?!"

InsertBluescreenHere

Why must i fail at every attempt at masonry!?

TheVentiLebowski

OphidionSerpent

Incoming rant about Walmart. I used to get my oil changed at Walmart years ago. One time, i picked up my car and got a couple miles down the road and was like... Why do I smell burning? Opened the hood, smoke wafts out, and I can see fluid on the exhaust piping. Slide under the car, oil filter was visibly cracked and I guess once things got to pressure it started spraying oil onto the hot exhaust. I didn't want to take it back to Walmart, but the dealer gave me the runaround and told me they'd want to do all this bullshit washing the engine bay and it'd be $200 plus the cost of an oil change, and my normal shop was booked for a week. I didn't want to argue with the dealer so I went back to Walmart, they said "oh, we just spilled a little when filling, it happens sometimes, we'll wipe it off for you." and I had to get the shop manager and argue with *them* that no, the filter is *obviously*, VISIBLY cracked, I want you to fix your fuckup and give me a new filter and new oil.  Guess who learned how to change their own oil.

Sea-Assignment-4498

We rent a townhouse in uppity part of town. It's a lease violation to do anything to our cars on the fucking property. So I can't even do that here. Low tire or exhaust hangs, towed. But if your pitbull gets loose and chews the hell out of the neighbors Boston terrier. You have 2 weeks to correct the problem. So much blood ,and shit was flying everywhere. Traumatized the kids.

forgottensudo

Garage, or tent. I had a friend that got double doors installed so that he could pull the car inside to work on it.

kevyeeeee

Poor Boston Terrier 😭 hope the dog is okay

ForThisIJoined

Walmart auto shops are just too varied. It all depends on who runs it at the time and has the company fired anyone recently. I ran one for years and if someone pulled in questioning an oil filter...we just replaced it free of charge whether or not it was bad. It cost us about 10 minutes and a part worth about $2. I also prioritized retaining good techs and would fight for things that increased employee retention like better shifts and not pulling them elsewhere in the store to do things they didn't sign up to do. On the flip side I filed more than one claim for customers who were told to piss off or given the run around by other stores for absolutely stupid things. Honestly I'd say either do your own work, or research wherever you go is the rule for ANY quick-lube style establishments just like it is for ANY mechanic. Never trust a brand, only trust people.

vicaphit

I bought a bike back in the 2000s at Walmart. I got about a quarter of a mile down the road before the derailleur got caught in the spokes and wrapped around the wrong way. I had to carry the bike back.

hypntyz

Sounds to me like your ride got....*derailled*.

tardersos

Never buy the "nicer" coleman stuff too. I just had to diag someone's 11 mile at200 because it wouldn't crank. 11 miles and already had problems

PoopSlinger23

My god why would you buy a Coleman ATV anyway

manys

They were sold out of the Bell & Howell ones.

ximagineerx

As seen on tv atv’s!?

lawndartgoalie

Gotta have a Tactical ATV.

manys

Inspired by the ATVs ridden by our heroes in uniform.

Big_Fo_Fo

I thought he was talking about the camp grills. Why would you buy an ATV made by a grill manufacturer

SubiWan

Why would you buy car service from a grocery store? Same difference.

Big_Fo_Fo

To be fair, there’s a horse insemination company that makes a solid pistol

uglyspacepig

"Guys.... hear me out. Have you ever thought "how can I inseminate that horse over there... *from way over here*?" Well... lemme show ya something"

Meatles--

The minibikes are pretty cheap and fun.

BadFont777

Eh, no, they are not the same.

jeep_jeep_beep_beep

I used to work at sears assembly bicycles and grills when I was 18. I think I did alright. Now work as a software engineer.. so not sure if that means I was above average bicycle and grill assembler or I am a below average software engineer 🤷🏼‍♂️

Mimbs_66

Yes.

solidshakego

I've had my bike for several years and it's been fine.

adam1260

Just like buying a bike online, make sure everything is tightened to spec and it should be all good. I've seen some bikes "prebuilt" have pretty loose screws here and there

sortacapablepisces

I took my wife's car for tires once, suddenly there was a nail in the sidewall. Now I knew for a fact it hadn't been there, so I scheduled another appointment with my car, drove to their doors got out recorded every single bit of every tire 0 nails. They took the car I went shopping a few minutes later they called me and guess what? A fucking nail in the sidewall. I showed them my video, they put a new tire on my car and I left with no payment given. Fuck Walmart and their 80 IQ techs.

Sea-Assignment-4498

That's funny.I just had this same situation,at Walmart. Getting a tire rotation.

mmmellowcorn

Did you buy these tires on Amazon?

PiratedTuba

Former TLE slave here, they actually should not have even touched your tire since you have aftermarket wheels. ACCM must not be super strict like mine was.

Shinrinn

Company policy isn't to decline aftermarket wheels. The coats tire machines properly used can handle any size tire up to 24 inch wheels. Source: formally an accm that hated taking aftermarket wheels.

Sea-Assignment-4498

Yea, I know what you're talking about. I ordered them through the Walmart app from a 3rd party. Had everything delivered there free shipping, and already paid for mounting and balancing. the wheels were new in the box. My problem with the wheels was the size. 20x8x114.5 35mm offset. Most were 20x9 or 10 with a +40mm. There was a very slim selection of wheels that fit my car. Since it was the black edition factory 20's ,they couldn't do the 18's there was 1,000's of options for. They only do what the factory spec is.

FloydBarstools

I had a gift card once and got my oil changed. They left the fender beach towel cover in the engine bay. The fan on that Cherokee slung it around and it ripped my transmission cooler lines off. They paid for the repair.

NEPTUNETHR33

Walmart products==best value, especially if you need oil or small parts delivered. Walmart services==the most random spectrum of quality I've ever seen in my life. Store A was fantastic, while Store B managed to start a car fire. Can't make this shit up...

Piranha1993

I learned this the hard way when I took my car there for tires once. My body seams were perfect. Fuckin straight. I was proud. Took my car in and they lifted it on the seam where the lower rear of the front fender mounts. I was pissed. We pay too much for new tires for the technicians to treat our cars like this. Last time I went to a local tire shop to have my current set installed. They lifted my car correctly and did not damage my car on the lift. Tires installed and the balance job is impeccable. Never going back to WM to service my car again.

AccidentallyBacon

lol they wrecked my ride by picking it up on the seam instead of the frame. had the audacity to put on the service note that it has severe corrosion - no shit guys it's a 90's suv the body is fucked, but the frame is fine, which you'd know if you looked under it before cranking it up.

Piranha1993

The audacity of lifting a fucking BOF SUV like that… rust or not still blows me away. When I frequented 3rd & 4th generation F car pages you would see an occasional post of somebody taking their car to WM and bitching about a bent or cracked fender depending on the car. If I had known before I had that set of tires installed in 2015 I would have went elsewhere.

CreativeSecretary926

$500 “landspider” junk on a 24k mile $40,000 car and he brings it to the lowest paid staff then posts to the techs who cost a few dollars more but make a few dollars more and complains. LOL Bru, ya coulda got a nice affordable corolla

donald7773

Can't afford a half decent tire, goes to wally world to save a buck but damn if you ain't gonna be in a near brand new Chevy. Can't be seen in something without apple car play these days smh

PoopSlinger23

If you think that’s a Chevy you should get your eyes checked.

donald7773

Lol fair, looks like a half retarded Tahoe from a couple of angles but I have genuinely no idea what car this is

PoopSlinger23

Mitsubishi Outlander

donald7773

Sometimes I forget that they still make cars, maybe I'm just seeing a mirage......

Sea-Assignment-4498

There's so much shit on I 75.ive had at least 5 flats from trash in last 3 years. I don't don't think many people in this area actually see the mileage on the tires we use.

donald7773

Idk what area you live in but I commute 600+ miles a week to and from work and it's coincidentally on I75. I've bent a wheel but other than that I've been good for years

Sea-Assignment-4498

I do 80 miles. 40 to, 40 home. It's stupid shit. Tire chucks, sheet metal, our other car got road rash from a flying mudflap with the metal bracket. Between Cincinnati, and Walton KY 71/75 split.

Live795

Went to Walmart for some Landspeed tires. Folks, you get what you pay for.

GeneralissimoFranco

Don’t know if this is more an indictment of Firestone or praise for Walmart, but the Walmart by my house is way more trustworthy and does better work than the Firestone that’s also down the street.  That Walmart has also had the same dude managing the Automotive section for 3+ years.

miles_hodson

100% depends on management. Feel like for most Walmarts get someone who knows nothing about cars and doesn’t know how to teach someone to work on cars.

texaslegrefugee

Forgive me, but why in the name of all that's Holy would you allow anyone who worked at WalMart to work on your vehicle?

Buzzd-Lightyear

Fuckin wish.com wheel and tire combo..

SyntheticCamelpox

What happened to this sub?

SubiWan

Inability to read and/or follow rules to start with.

iforgotalltgedetails

Lack of human moderator as well, supposedly we have one but I don’t think he does much.

Yomat

That’s waaaaaaay too nice of a vehicle to take to Walmart.

Sea-Assignment-4498

If I would've been paying more attention,I wouldn't have needed to go there at all. I fucked up the wheels I paid an extra 5k to get.

ShadyDrunks

Lmao HRE reps, well deserved consequences of being cheap

frcdfed2004

why the fuck would you get service done there?? OP is a clown.

No_Credibility

It always makes me laugh when people get the shittiest quality stuff and the shittiest service and then are amazed when something shitty happens

EpisodicDoleWhip

Never cheap out on tires, brakes, or bedding.

Muskisagod

Motherfuckin Walmart hey bud at least you still have an engine

horsy12

Who tf goes to Walmart for any vehicle fix

xGH0STF4CEx

I just recently had my local Walmart install brand new tires that I ordered through them. Had a flat the next day when I went on my lunch break. Turns out they used the old valve stem which they must've damaged upon installation, because it had a clear cut into it and my old tires didn't have any issues losing pressure.

MGPS

Sorry, but that’s what you get for putting on those awful wheels

Sea-Assignment-4498

They do look different on the fucking car, than they did online. I wasn't happy about that. Perspective is a MF. it looked more inset and concave in the picture, which changes the feel of how they look. I didn't realize they were flat until I got them.

gokuren

I know what's wrong with ti! Aint got no air in it!

Sea-Assignment-4498

You bring up a good point. Air is heavier than nothing. So if it's heavier,it should sink. Why do tires only go flat on the bottom, never the top or side.

Wikadood

I went to Walmart for a cheap tire rotation and fuckers scratched my rims.

eat_mor_bbq

I know it’s a little late now, but there’s a company called Colby or corby or something that makes emergency valve stems that you can pop in. I used to have those stupid aluminum TPMS valve stems that will snap off it you even think about tapping them so I threw a pack of the emergency valve stems in my car just in case. It’s nice because you don’t have to dismount the tire to install them.

dicemonkey

Why do people go to Wal-Mart and expect quality service/stuff …it’s cheap because its cheap …?

RedneckId1ot

Walmart TLE; only once, and never again my dude

jazzie366

What wheels are those?

vascohaddon

Did they just completely forget to put the collar on the stem? I'm not entirely surprised the air pressure held it in place sitting, but I am surprised you made it 30 miles before any bumps knocked it inward before.

Sea-Assignment-4498

I was driving it just started dropping. Alarm went off 32, 28,24,22 I was at 16lbs when I stopped. It happened quick. He said the stem was bent, but there is no damage on the wheel.

RedCivicOnBumper

You keep your tow truck/repair receipts for anything they didn’t fix for free? Take it to the manager at Walmart and make a claim. It’s part of what they do.

msh3loony

hey bro you have a deflated tire warning, you should do something about that

Sea-Assignment-4498

I had to get a spare tire from the junkyard from a Nissan armada. It was still on all night. That tire had 60 psi....

msh3loony

no, that was a joke about how the tire is obviously deflated

Detail_Some4599

Yeah, why in the world should it turn off when you put a random tire on there? You either have a sensor which you have to put in the wheel and then reset the tpms or what's more likely: it measures the rolling circumference of the tire. If it does so, you can't just put any given wheel and tire combo on there because it most definitely will have a different circumference than the other three wheels

jmm166

Curious: What’s the middle number between the tire pressures?

Sea-Assignment-4498

Suggested psi. I run em at 40 psi like it was when I bought it.

beckett_the_ok

TIL American Walmarts have auto shops

[deleted]

[удалено]

Sea-Assignment-4498

The store manager grease the living shit out of them on the top. That thing slid around with no tool marks.

Baboonslayer323

At least KY was used for towing. I hope it wasn’t too painful?

Sea-Assignment-4498

GEICO paid for it. Roadside assistance

Mimbs_66

I love to call these auto grimlins because a lot of the time the auto shop is never the issue but it’s just the car. I’ve worked in so many different auto shops and people always seem to come up with the craziest things. I remember a customer came back to the oil shop I was working for blaming us for the rust on the exhaust manifold cover saying it was dirty and not like that before the oil change and it’s just insane what people will blame on an oil change that had nothing to do with the faulty part/parts. Tough world. Most people don’t know how to properly care for their cars anyways.

SpecRB

Is Sam’s Club better than WalMart?

Sea-Assignment-4498

Kmart was the best.

ArieHimself

When I worked in TLE, an assistant manager told me TLE is equal to the goldfish. No one cares about the quality, it's just to get customers in the store.

DependentCranberry82

You deserve this for letting Walmart touch your car

Sea-Assignment-4498

Ha, You ever been to pep boys?

DependentCranberry82

Pep boys was like an auto zone, Firestone, chrome, and all chrome accessories all in 1.I sent my wife there one day to get brakes while I was at work. They sent her home with $2300 estimate. Told her the whole front end needed replaced on a gran prix. Struts, control arms, sway bars. We live in a rural town these shops been ripping people off for years.

Tire discounters on the other hand before it's death. Those guy would fix anything ,for anyone.reasonable. had both cv shafts on my journey done for under $400. Fuel pump on the blazer $200. Control arms on my eclipse done $300. No extra bullshit. Just fixed what was broken. But eminent domain claimed them.

Anyone know what those lifts are called?

Sometimes getting diesel oil changes(just oil and filter)there is the best option, but I’ve never gotten tires there before- def won’t be now that I’ve seen this

I will never understand why people bring their cars to Walmart!!! Groceries and such sure. My vehicle, hell no.

I had a flat tire on the way to my parents house (about an hour from my house) on the highway around 10pm. My auto insurance paid for the tow, and since I was closer to my parents I had it towed there. On Sunday, the only place open to buy a tire was at Walmart. My dad, who was 68 at the time & was scheduled for open heart surgery in 4 days jacked my blazer up & took the wheel off & brought it to Walmart with us. I walk in and am standing at the auto center counter for about 10 minutes when their service rep comes to the desk. Before I can say anything, he says “It’s a 4.5 hour wait” very rudely. Now I know their auto center was busy, but they didn’t need to be so rude about it. If they hadn’t been the only place to get a tire I would have left. I just bought the tire & my dad & I used a tire spoon and a crowbar to get the old tire off & the new one on. (We used vegetable oil to seat the bead & that was the only tire that didn’t go soft as frequently as my other 3). Once I got back home I had my mechanic balance the tire about a week later. This happened about 15 years ago and I quit going to Walmart for anything. There were 2-3 of them in my area plus the one down at my parents where I got crappy/rude behavior so I just won’t spend my money there. Even if I have to pay more somewhere else I will. I know that the 300-600 I spent there in a month isn’t going to make a difference in there bottom line, but I refuse to give them any more of my money.

We no longer have Walmart auto service in Canada. Thank God!

I had a tire changed, brought it with me. Dude used a claw hammer to remove the wheel weight. Didn't go back. .....

Detail_Some4599

Look at the hole for the valve, it's not even round. What in the world are those wheels 😂

Sea-Assignment-4498

It's round, damn. There's a little slope there. The angle of the pic caught that lip in front.

Jstarr427

I mean when you buy a tire with the name LANDSPIDER I’m not sure what you expect….

Sea-Assignment-4498

Actually,we just left for vacation this morníng. Drove through one hell of a storm, haven't seen a storm rain that hard for a while. These tires stick better than bridgestones, and fire stones on our other cars.

Like most tire shops, those installing tires know next to nothing. A torque wrench is some oddity that sits on a shelf. The air gun is best at 150 pounds of pressure. Running on lug nuts like they should never come off again is a well know practice. A air pressure gauge is to be ignored. You may or may not get new valve stems. Either way you will be charged and all will be missing the caps. Balancing will consist of 15 pounds of lead stuck to the inside of the rim. All of your center caps will be left behind on the tire changing machine. You wheel lock key will never be seen again.
