Story of Park’s Marriage Contract- my favorite on air drama. Will be sad to see it go after this week and hope there is a happy ending. The leads have such amazing chemistry and side characters are fun. My Demon- the other contract marriage show I’m enjoying immensely. Welcome to Samdal-ri- it’s gotten really good the last few episodes but wish we saw more of the other sisters because I’m enjoying their storylines. JCW and SHS are absolutely nailing it. My Man is Cupid- this show is cute and keeping me interested. Like Flowers in Sand- not much is happening, but at the same time I’m still liking it? Hard to explain. Marry My Husband- enjoying the premise so far. I thought it would be similar to Perfect Marriage Revenge, but it’s not as makjang which I prefer. Death’s Game- can’t wait for the last episodes to drop this week! It’s so good. Secret Royal Inspector and Joy- first episode was boring but it’s picked up after episode 2. May swap out this one for Lovestruck in the City since I’m more in the mood for that, but Taecyeon is so gorgeous. Finished Cheer Up and Kiss Gobin which were both cute. The list has shortened luckily. Waiting for Gyeongseong Creature to drop all the episodes this weekend so I can watch them at once.

zaichii

Haha I was just going to comment that you’re watching so many, then saw your footnote that this is the shortened list! Amazing

twoods1980

It used to be longer but so many dramas recently finished, and I have dropped A Good Day To Be a Dog until all the episodes come out.

Eeehaataa

Lovestruck is great, especially for the new year.

PupperPetterBean

>My Demon- the other contract marriage show I’m enjoying immensely. One more day until the next episode!

Mackattack305737

What did you think of the ending of SOPMC? Literally was in my top 5 for the year! i have THOUGHTS!!! 😭

Mackattack305737

>!i didn’t want to ruin anything but i need to know others opinions LOL!<

Fantastic_Cookie_661

Currently watching **My Demon** and **Welcome to Samdalri**. Excited to have the former back after a two-week hiatus, and looking forward to see where the latter goes, after things have picked up in the last episode. Just finished watching **The Red Sleeve** like a couple of hours ago (watched it despite abundant warnings from this sub) and boy, I was not prepared. Now how will I work for the rest of the day without thinking about Duk-im and San?

Puzzled_Kiwi_8583

The red sleeve really left an impression on me as well. Other dramas have touched me, but none of them affected nor stayed with me as much as it did. Good luck getting over it (in a timely manner).

Connect-Cut5002

Watch Park's Contract Marriage. Deok Im is doing just fine. Lol TRS is so good with a >!sad!<>!ending!<.

Puzzled_Kiwi_8583

It’s on my list but I am watching way too many dramas at the moment. Thanks for the rec.

Fantastic_Cookie_661

The first few episodes really make you let your guard down and think it's a normal kdrama (few laughs - big bad - happy ending) and then it comes at you out of nowhere! Getting over it in a timely manner seems impossible. Just fascinated by the history that inspired the show and the wonderful interpretations to be read on this sub, and other places as well!

Ok-Impression6834

Have you watched My Dearest yet? It is the closest to RS in terms of emotional impact.

Fantastic_Cookie_661

Ah, I did watch the first episode a bit. But it didn't pull me in, maybe because I was in the mood to watch something else? I should probably give it another go now that I'm in the right zone :D

Binta020

Omg go back!!!! It’s the best drama of 2023 if not ever

CryptographerSure328

does my dearest have a happy ending?

UnbridledOptimism

**Marry My Husband** Park Min Young is hit or miss for me so I approached this drama with caution. 2 episodes in and I love the ride so far! Better acting, story, and overall production values than Perfect Marriage Revenge, seems like it will be great as long as it doesn’t stumble later. It’s a revenge drama with a smart but gaslit and abused FL going after the jerks who mistreated her when she gets another chance at her life due to a 10-year time slip. **Come And Hug Me** Was saving this for when I needed something good to watch. It’s soooo good, intense and angsty. There is also a surprising amount of affection shown between various characters and a lot of hugs shared and it’s just nice. This is one I’ll wish I could see again for the first time. First love between the FL daughter of a famous actress and the ML son of a serial killer ends in tragedy when the serial killer slaughters FL’s family. Reunited by chance years later, can their love survive time and tragedy?

delphil1966

come and hug me is one of my all time favorites

Ann_cee

All your comments made me go and start watching this show.

UnbridledOptimism

Oh good, I hope you like it!

Binta020

Wish I could erase my memory and watch come and hug me again. 😩

Mackattack305737

I’m waiting a little longer to start marry my husband i want to be immersed in a new PHS kdrama. Missed him 😭😭

Mackattack305737

But excited from your post TY!

OnlyGotThisMoment

While waiting for **My Demon** and **Death’s Game** to release their episodes, I’m watching **You Are My Spring** which so far feels underrated because I haven’t heard many talk about it. I’m really enjoying it. Im also finishing up **Hospital Playlist** which I’ve purposefully taken slow because I love it so much.

External-Positive-26

I looooooooveeee hospital playlist, I’ve rewatched both seasons 6 times now!!! Wish I could watch it for the first time again.

mech-engineer104

OMG girl (or boy) sameeee!!!🤩 AND I could watch it a 100 times more😌

Consistent_Buy_7378

I tried to watch Hospital Playlist and it seems so popular, but it was hard for me to get into it. What do you like about it? Maybe I need to keep watching?

OnlyGotThisMoment

It took me three attempts to initially get into it. It was around episode 4 that I settled in and really started enjoying it.

Consistent_Buy_7378

Ok I think I can give it a shot!

MissSimpleton

I watched Hospital Playlist quite early on my Kdrama bingefest. But, I kept on skipping the medical related/surgery part as it was quite new to me and watching too many characters became overwhelming for me. So, if you are quite new, dont try to watch Medical dramas. Instead go for rom-coms, melodrama, thrillers etc and then come back to this drama/genre. The cameos by familiar faces makes the drama viewing experience really entertaining. I did the same. I dropped it after 4-5 eps. Watched some 20-30 kdramas and then came back to this.

Eeehaataa

YRMS was one of my favorites. It was the first kdrama where I cried at a scene.

sharjoy3

2023 was my **Hospital Playlist** year. I watched it for the first time in the spring and that was that. I rewatched it immediately, then rewatched the whole thing with a friend. I'm still listening to the songs (both seasons) in my car, over and over. These are the doctors we all wish we could have.... Last spring I visited some friends and had a great conversation with a friend who is a pediatric anesthesiologist. I asked him whether a heart surgeon would really invite a medical student to touch an open heart, and a few other things. He said, "not often, but I've seen it happen." Wow.

OnlyGotThisMoment

That is a great story, thanks for sharing. I wondered how plausible that was but my doubt didn’t stop me from crying. I love all of it, from the patients to the staff to the nurses and doctors.

mech-engineer104

HP has one of the best OSTs I swearr!♥️

Ludwig_TheAccursed

I just finished watching Flowers of Evil. This show is universally liked/ loved by the audience so I am probably in the minority for not jumping on the hype train. I still get why many people like it so much. The acting and cinematography is great and the plot is besides all of its flaws still very engaging. However, too many often forced plot conveniences kinda ruined it for me. I understand that in order to enjoy KDrama you often have to have a willing suspension of disbelief but there are limits and it is just too much for me here. Spoiler: >!1.) The accomplice just happened to hit the main character with his car. The chances for this to happen are astronomically low and everything after this was also super forced (the son wanting to bury him in the garden, the mother stabbing him, the parents wanting the main character to take their son‘s identity etc.))!< >!2.) Another forced storyline is when the car drove over Cha Ji- Won‘s police ID, then Do Hae-Soo taking it, Cha‘s mother being hospitalized (why?) and her asking Hae-Soo to take care of her daughter which caused her getting stabbed by Baek Hee-Sung.!< >!3.) Following on point 2.)- The plan of killing Cha was extremely risky and pointless since she could have already told her police colleagues everything she (potentially) knew about him/why she believes her husband is innocent. Of course it was also convenient to set this plot device for the killer’s “reveal” that he had killed his wife.!< >!4.) Do Hyun- Soo not telling his wife about the threatening phone call he had received at 2:30am. Why wouldn’t he tell her about it? I give you the answer- He only did not tell her because the screenwriters wanted Cha to think he killed the maiden that night. Secondly, they spend the last episodes showing us how they trusted each other again and Cha saying many times she will always be by her husband’s side only to throw it all away when the fingerprint was found on the tape?!!< >!5.) The wife of the taxi driver ending up in a mental institution and totally forgetting what had happened. It is just another super convenient plot device. I know trauma can cause memory loss and I can maybe buy that she forgot about the horrific events that happened to her but I don’t buy that she would never attempt to contact her family after all these years and that the police did not manage to find out where she was. Yes, the gangster paid a worker in the mental institution to “take care” of her but how exactly did he manage to keep her so quiet all of these years.!< >!Other ridiculous things were the police declaring Hyun-Soo’s death to be a suicide and the old woman just happen to take a photo with Hyun-Soo in the background when she visited Seoul!<

immerdasmeer

lol you are so right, there's a lot of suspension of disbelief asked for with this one! I just watched it recently and liked it a lot, though maybe not as much as others. My main issue though was the >! FL being a super smart, savvy detective in the present, but in the past having been so completely lovestruck over a guy who over and over again told her he was not interested. It works for the story, to show her blind spots re: the ML, but it felt off to me. !< However, it didn't completely ruin the show for me.

hempstockss

I'm with you on this one. I had fun watching this drama, but I guess I went expecting one thing and got another. Still, as you said, very enjoyable.

Whyalwaysdrama

Same. It's a melodrama with thriller elements, non the other way round. I can't remember all the inconsistences, but the biggest one IMO was >!the psycho waking up after 20 years and behaving as he slept for a day!< And what about last episode's >!amnesia!< ? I really hated that trope. It's entertaining but I still haven't rewatched any scene

hempstockss

Yes. I always saw it talked as this psychopath romance and expected something dark and twisted and ended up on a soap opera with thriller elements. Nothing wrong with it, just not what I wanted going in. Your second spoiler was what I disliked the most about the drama, I hate that trope.

EggyMeggy99

I liked it, but I found parts of it slow, and what I found the most unbelievable was the >!serial killer being in a coma for so long, then walking around a few days later.!<

TheLonerNextDoor

Dropped it for exactly these reasons.

MajesticConfidence36

Today - I finally completed Reply 1988 (20/20). I had it on hold at ep 4. Thank you for everyone who said it gets better after that. I was on winter break so I binged it. Ooh! I really enjoyed and loved it. Reminds me of the Wonder Years.

Flipperflopper21

I dropped that show 2x and at ep 4 too no less. I just can’t seem to move past that ep until a friend convinced me to plow through. Drama of my life.

twoods1980

Thanks! I also dropped it around episode 3 and can’t get around to picking it up again but will try plowing past episode 4.

Flipperflopper21

Go for it. Even my American husband liked it. Hahaha

Puzzled_Kiwi_8583

I had that issue with r88 too until I got past that episode. It was so good after that. I blame the sister. Lol

unlikelystory98

I had a small break after I finished the challenge last year, and I semi-exclusively only watched on-air dramas, so it was a less hectic kdrama watching experience. Now after that "break", getting back into the challenge, I'm feeling rejuvenated. It might also be because I juuuust finished All of Us are Dead, and it was great. As for what I'm currently watching: * **My Demon (10/16)** — Watching it week by week, and every time, it gets even better. Only this last week did I feel annoyed by some characters, but the drama is still good. I never thought I'd like Song Kang this much, but he is adorable! * **Welcome to Samdalri (10/16)** — I'm kinda watching this one passively. It's good, but it doesn't have my heart. I do, however, really enjoy the leads' acting, and the way they show the pain on their faces is top notch. * **Gyeongseong Creature (7/10)** — The episodes that came out so far were interesting, and I liked a lot of elements in this story. Do I love it? Maybe not, but it's still compelling, and the leads are great. See, I like Park Seo Joon, but this drama made me a fan of his. He's so funny when he wants to be, and he can be adorable when he plays a head-over-heels kind of character. All in all, the 7 episodes left me with a lot of questions for the remaining ones, and I hope they can answer them. The ending can make or break this drama for me (but not by a huge margin). * **Love Song for Illusion (1/16)** — Only 1 episode is out this week, but I can't wait to watch more, and it's all because of Park Ji Hoon. I'm enthusiastic when it comes to his future projects because he's the type of actor who always manages to wow me every time I watch another drama of his, and those types of actors always end up in my top 2 or 3 favorite actors. And he is up there already. This drama was a little weird, but his role stands out. I'm tuning in for him. Also going to restart "Come and Hug Me" for the challenge cause I want to finish it once and for all. It can be quite emotional, and the OST is to die for. I need to save the tracks to my playlist after I'm done watching it.

Lily-ofthetribe

I felt the same way about welcome to Samdal-ri. Only continued watching cause I’m a fan of the two main leads. It does start to improve around episode 9 and 10. Things are starting to make sense. As for My Demon, it is chef kiss. I cannot wait for this weeks episodes.

Prestigious_Alarm526

Is Love song for illusion a 1ep per week show? Or it's just this week? Cause i learned my lesson from the killing vote and won't start 1ep show.

unlikelystory98

It's supposedly 2 eps per week cause it ends in February, and it has 16 episodes, which wouldn't be enough time for 1 ep per week.

kpaneno

Shooting Stars 16/16 loved it really funny lots of gags no extremes no ddrraaaasggggyyyy messy love triangle no pretentious stuff just funny cute bickering lots of friendship some bad guys but no shocks sudden twists and no horrific ending to ruin what came before. And beautiful leads, FL IS 😍 ❤️ ♥️ LINK Eat Kill Love Ep 3/16 I went in Blind and am totally loving it so far. Please don't spoil it on me. I haven't seen the ML since Hotel Del Luna and the FL is really likeable so far fingers crossed. A Good Day to be A Dog I'm really enjoying it it's cute but also interesting and i love the FL in everything she is in so it's all good for me. Reply 1988 Ep 1 I got through half of Ep1, and it was grand, but I'm not sure how much I want to invest in it tbh. The whole who did she end up with love triangle bit I've heard about first sounds so annoying of an idea I'm like will the rest be just as annoying and also I just hate love triangles that drag on and on so I'm not sure if it's gonna grab me enough to keep at it.

Puzzled_Kiwi_8583

Reply 1988 imo doesn’t really get good and bingeable until about episode 4 or 5.

kpaneno

FYI I just got to Ep 5. I think I'm starting to get it. Its extremely enjoyable in parts but boy is it slow and a bit shrieks at times

TheMsDacia

I enjoyed Shooting Stars too! I feel like no one talks about this drama.

kpaneno

Totally, it was really great I thought

muruku

Reply 1988 gets into skin only after 5-6 episodes. Checkout a comment on the show further down in this thread! Also, the show is not really about romance - it is about family and friendships.

DrSaurusRex

I'm trying to get through reply 1988 right now and it's my 4th attempt. My first time making it past episode 1, woo! I'm on episode 13 and it feels like a bit of a drag, to be honest. It's a very charming slice of life show set in the 80s. The acting and writing is on point so I can see why it's very popular. It just doesn't quite ever catch my interest enough to be "binge able" like many other shows. There's no pressing plot point, or direction. It seems like I just turn on my TV to check on the fam down in the neighborhood, which is cute, but yeah. Clearly this is totally exactly what some folks are into! And that's great. But I'm not sure I'll make it to episode 20. I was mildly annoyed by the cut to "current day" in 2015 where Deoksun's presumed husband is actively negging her and says some straight-up abuser level stuff like "no one else could put up with you except me!" Which took the romance angle right off the table for me. I'm not particularly keen to find out which asshat turns/stays that immature 25 years later.

kpaneno

Thank you for that, I read so many comments about it, but I have never heard that point before re hubby and rarely anything other than its best drama ever etc etc I might watch it someday but I'm not in a hurry that whole guess the husband angle has ne avoiding it almost on principle it's such a turn off.

disarrayofyesterday

Marry My Husband - truly great start. Even though I haven't read the webtoon, my expectations are extremely high after the first two episodes.

hypomango

Started **My Demon** and will be caught up soon if I'm not careful! I absolutely love it - oh-so-romantic visuals, a fantasy creature man, ML & FL are both so beautiful, story is entertaining, angst but also some genuine laugh-out-loud moments. So far it feels really well balanced and exactly my cup of tea!

twoods1980

It is so much fun to watch, and absolutely gorgeous.

hospitallers

Just finished Pachinko. My god did that show grab me by the feels and slammed me on the ground hard! What a beautiful show and what performances by everyone!

TheMsDacia

I read the book and the series did not disappoint. I loved every minute of it.

sciencespecialist

Just started this one, as my yearly Apple+ subscription expires Feb 1 and I'm not going to do yearly from now on. Maybe a month or two per year. I read the book, and absolutely loved it.

Due_Appearance2263

**My Demon (10/16)** — I actually like this drama and the chemistry between Song Kang and Kim Yoojung is out of this world. **Dr Romantic Season 1 (18/20)** — I’ve decided to start Dr. Romantic after watching the SBS Drama Awards. I’ve only watched one medical K-drama and I can’t believe I waited this long to watch Dr. Romantic. >!The kiss scene in the first episode caught me by surprise.!< I know the leads are different in Season 2 and I can’t wait to continue.

Telos07

**Because This is My First Life** (16/16): A humorous and insightful exploration of modern relationships. The screenplay was full of profound lines of dialogue, and the OST, especially "Star Drawing" by Uji, has been stuck in my head. Of course, Lee Min-ki and Jung So-min were brilliant as the main couple, but the second lead couples were important in providing contrast and balance in the narrative. 2017 wasn't *that* long ago, but there's a sense when you watch this drama that it belongs to a different era. **Like Flowers in Sand** (4/12): This drama is turning out to be a diamond in the rough; a true gem. It's considerably more slice-of-life than I was expecting, and since that happens to be my favorite genre, it's all good news. At the same time, the narrative is progressing at a nice pace, with the drama resolving subplots before they outstay their welcome. Finally, the OST, especially "Unfinished Story" by Ko Youngbae, continues to impress as well. **Welcome to Samdalri** (10/16): Episode 9 gave us closure on the story of the two Mi-ja's, and the source of the ongoing tension between Ms. Ko and Yong-pil's father. It also gave us a long-awaited >!moment of intimacy between our leads!<, though my favorite scene in the episode was the touching conversation between young Ha-yul and the dolphin center CEO. Episode 10 was lighter in tone, but gave us some enjoyable storylines involving each of the sisters.

Delmarocks7

- **Our Beloved Summer**: Started this last year got a bit annoyed at the constant miscommunication and angst between the main characters so I stopped. Picked it up again this week and completed it yesterday. >!I dislike second chance romance but I can see how the story line might be realistic. Especially the insecurities, immature and impulsive behaviors that caused the breakup in the first place. I just wish it didn’t take them 12 episodes to finally communicate properly. I also wished that the side characters weren’t so hung up on their crushes. I don’t know but having a crush on someone to me is fleeting. It goes away within a month. If someone I like doesn’t like me back sure I’d be hurt initially but idk I’ll move on because life doesn’t start or stop at them. Their feelings for the main characters felt too intense and one sided for it to just be a crush. I don’t think crush fully expresses it and calling it love seems like an exaggeration. Another thing I hated was Kim Ji-Ung’s mother coming back into his life with her sickness and his boss encouraging him to accept her request to document her life. I don’t understand the obsession with people expecting kids to be the bigger person and forgive their parents. She didn’t even beg him or ask him for forgiveness. She just dropped her diagnosis and her ridiculous request. You traumatized that poor boy all his life the least you can do is beg for forgiveness in your last days. My lord and her lame excuse for not hugging him as a child at the end made me soo mad. I felt super validated by his speech about not forgiving her but asking her to fight to live. Because even though she hurt him he still didn’t want her die. Apart from that I think the drama ended pretty well !< - **Tomorrow**: I started this yesterday and I’ve been enjoying it so far. I’m scared that the last few episodes will be disappointing like Destined with you was(I’m still heated about how this drama ended). I hope it remains good until the end.

JellyfishNumerous785

I finished Tomorrow last week. Very inspiring and ending is satisfying. Is Destined with You worth starting? I’m very iffy.

rozwuzhere

Destined With You started out great, but by the end, I was disappointed because it it didn't even seem like the events that happened at the beginning even mattered at the end. I can very much ignore plot holes because I realize sometimes you just gotta pretend something didn't happen to make the drama work. This was one was just, not great. I feel like it's 50/50. You may or may not like.

sciencespecialist

I liked Destined With You, but I never was invested in the red hand story. That's what seemed to disappoint a lot of people. The steaminess of the main leads gets REAL towards the end and there are some cute, comedic romance scenes. I think Rowoon is very good in this, but the actress that plays the FL is not my favorite, but she's fine in her role. All that being said, I recommend it!

rozwuzhere

I'm just now starting Our Beloved Summer, and I hope its as good as everyone says. Tomorrow is a great show. There's a lot of heavy subjects, and all I did was cry throughout the whole show. I took breaks in between episodes and watched my favorite True Beauty episodes to give myself a break. Edit: deleted a portion because it was a response to another comment. I guess I just put them together. Sorry.

EggyMeggy99

I had to take breaks from Tomorrow as well, and had to be in the right mood to watch it. I loved it, but I think it took a couple of months for me to finish it.

EggyMeggy99

I loved Tomorrow, I wasn't disappointed by the ending, I thought it was good.

helloh3lo

Oh I loved Tomorrow. Funny and touching at the same time.

myweithisway

Managed to dig myself somewhat out of my k-variety hole and back into dramas via... **My Happy Ending** There was no way I'd miss this one given the cast, especially Jang Nara, and the makjang premise. First two episodes totally had me tense and afraid to look away. I don't know if the rest of the show can keep up the pace but I'll definitely be there to find out. **Perfect Marriage Revenge** Binged through 7 episodes in one day and honestly would have kept going till the end if it were not for the fact that I need to be adult-ing as an adult. So makjang, so delicious! Reincarnation revenge stories has been my catnip when reading Chinese webnovels for a while now and this drama fits right in. I have some dramas planned out for the KDC and will start those soon. Looking forward to all the dramas I'll watch this year, please don't be complete duds!

TheMsDacia

MHE is so good!! Why aren't more people talking about this drama?! I also binged PMR once it was completed; I was obsessed lol

Watchnextnow

I’ve been on a holiday from work so I’ve had some extra time on my hands. This means that I’ve made the fatal mistake of starting too many on air dramas and now I’m locked in to their schedules. **Welcome to Samdalri**. 10/16. I’m still watching it but I’m a little disappointed. It’s quite good but I really built it up in my mind before starting it and it’s a bit more melodramatic than I was expecting. So. Much. Sobbing. I will finish it though. **A good day to be a dog** 11/14. Worth watching purely for CEW and >!that closet kiss!<. **Like flowers in sand**. 4/16. I stumbled across this by accident and the synopsis didn’t grab me but I started watching it anyway and I’m unexpectedly really enjoying it! I’m not even sure why. But the performances of the leads has been good so far. **Moving** 8/20. Really liking this so far. It’s refreshingly different with excellent production quality. Pity Disney has crap subs and a terrible user interface which took multiple false starts to get right. But we got there in the end and looking forward to seeing how this plays out. **Soundtrack #2** 4/6. As per the above re Disney forcing me to watch Eng subs with closed captions. Basically watching this as a quick and easy stocking filler and it’s cute.

marcsa

Started Marry My Husband. I picked it up after watching Perfect Marriage Revenge, which I loved. From what I've seen so far in the premiere, this shapes to be even better, but we'll see.

realeyesreallize

- **Strong Woman Do Bong Soon** (12/16 episodes completed): I’ve been trying to watch this show forever and each time I couldn’t get past the first few episodes. I tried again this time because I wanted to see more Park Hyungsik performances. I’ve made it all the way to half way through episode 13 and now I’m stalled again. - **Stranger Season 2** (9/16 episodes completed): I felt season 2 started a bit slower than season 1, but I was still enjoying because they did such a good job writing the political webs and how they pressure our leads in different ways - especially given where they are in their careers. And then BAM around episode 7/8 things definitely started heating up! I may need to binge the rest because I *need to know what’s going on*. - **Devil’s Game** (4/8 episodes completed): i thought the show was just ok (not bad at all and definitely fun to watch!) but episode 4 was so good and now I’m HOOKED and I can’t wait for the rest of the drop this week. I’m thinking of starting Strangers from Hell, Twinkling Watermelon or To My Star next?

Ok-Impression6834

Could not agree more on Stranger S2. Seriously invested after EP 8.

realeyesreallize

I just finished episode 13 and my mind is WOAH! That was such a well written arc? Planted the seeds from the very first episode and just DELIVERED IT SO GOOD!

the-green-crewmate

Same!! S2 is slower but I think because it takes More time to setup the story. It’s sooo good though.

EggyMeggy99

I finished Strong Girl Bong Soon about a week ago, and I enjoyed it, but I got really annoyed by certain things. Like >!the kidnapper always getting away, and Bong Soon not going after him enough. I also got bored with the gangsters, they felt unnecessary after a while.!< I haven't seen the other two, but I loved Strangers From Hell.

realeyesreallize

Right! I think I’m struggling with it because >!it feels so repetitive with so many of the storylines. Also the only characters I’ve been finding genuinely entertaining or endearing are both of Kim Won Hae’s characters and the two leads.!<

kpaneno

I enjoyed SGBS but didn't get the hype. A lot of the humour is childish like (ooh a gay guy, let's laugh) and the romance was frustrating to me like what is her issue he adores you can you just once or twice reciprocate at his level LOL poor guy it's always him. I saw Shooting Stars recently, and there were a No. of scenes where its female characters who take the initiative in the romances at play and/or very clearly articulate their feelings, it was a nice plus point. Also, the poor 2ML (love is all about timing yawn), they could have wrapped all that up way earlier in SGDBS.

DawgMom2018

A lot happening - many new, and some will be wrapping up **A Good Day to Be a Dog** \- Enjoying this – delightful comic book brought to life. **Between Him and He**r - the first 2 episodes dealing with the breakup are so sad, setting the table for the rest of the drama. The sadness feels authentic **Gyeongseong Creature** \- I don’t care about the reviews – I love this. Love the leads. Love the heroism and villainy. **Like Flowers in Sand** \- I really like this drama – a bit of slice of life, I love the friendships of he characters and how the small town is portrayed, really love our leads. One of my favorites currently airing **Love Song for Illusion** \- interesting premise, I need to see more **Maestra: Strings of Truth** \- Even though really soapy, I like this drama and things about to get very challenging for our FL! **Marry My Husband** \- the revenge will be delicious – a dish well served cold. **My Demon** \- hiatus with a cliff hanger, can’t wait to see where this goes **My Happy Ending** – off the chart bananas – may pause with many crazy dramas at same time **My Man Is Cupid** \- Love this drama – it is modest, almost retro, but exceeds my expectations and is an entertaining watch – adore the leads **The Story of Park's Marriage Contract** – enjoy it although there is a sense of déjà vu with so many elements of recent dramas in this one. The hanbok fashions are spectacular **Welcome to Samdal-ri** \- I am ambivalent – the plot device of poor communication seems be stalling progress of our main leads, and I find the other family members plotlines more engaging and fresh. Can’t stand the love triangle – waste of a good character.

hempstockss

I'm watching The Tale of the Nine Tailed and I'm really enjoying it. I think I prefer Lee Dongwook in non-romance dramas (his performance in Strangers from Hell was iconic), but I'm still enjoying him here. I like the main couple, but my favorite character so far is the villain, Kim Bum is so good in making him both menacing and cute, I'm excited to see where the story goes.

EggyMeggy99

I finished it yesterday and I loved it. He's great in Strangers From Hell it's the first thing I saw him in. I hope you enjoy the rest of it.

TheMsDacia

I am late to the party, bit I just started The Worst of Evil and I think it is so good. The combination of Chang Wook and Ha Joon is :: chef's kiss :: I did not know Chang Wook could do action like this 😍

allomancersam

Trying to be better about finishing dramas before starting new ones, however, the "ooo shiny" of new dramas is terribly alluring 😂 **Train** 8/12 Enjoying the mystery and alternate timeline, and once again really liking YSY's performance. Not feeling the FL. **The Matchmakers** 7/16 Really enjoying this one! It's scratching the rom com itch quite nicely. Rowoon is hilarious in his role here, and I'm really liking all the lovelines so far. It's cute and funny and just what I'm wanting right now. **It's Okay, That's Love** 3/16 I'm liking this one and can only hope that it gets more chaotic since that's what I'm enjoying the most. The ML is a lot of fun so far, and I really liked the FL in *Master's Sun* so I'm hoping she grows on me in this one too

kpaneno

Nice descriptions deffo put matchmaker on the probably list you make it sound ideal for me at moment

allomancersam

I finished it last night and definitely recommend! There's some angst and it gets into the political intrigue a bit as all historical dramas tend to, but on the whole it's funny and heartfelt and really really cute

anjou_00

Some great shows on Amazon Prime: *Marry My Husband* \- So fun! 2 hours went by so quickly. Can't wait until next week! *Death’s Game* \- It's great! The final 4 episodes are coming on 1/5, and I'm very excited. (Kind of wish I started this one after 1/5 so I didn't have to wait.)

Current_Volume3750

Maestra- Strings of Truth. Very much enjoying this. The music during the show is great! A nice change from the weirder vocal laments we normally hear.

Cupcakemunchie1

A good day to be a dog, welcome to samdalri, my demon, parks contract marriage, hospital playlist, mad for eachother and finished deaths game and gyeonsong creature (waiting for new episodes on friday)😄 Overall a good kdrama month for me

Resident-Bison-2532

I’ve been currently watching healer but I kinda don’t understand most things

DrSaurusRex

I'm rewatching it because I kinda just love it and it's a bit of a palette cleanser show for me. What is confusing for you? I'm kinda impressed the show is older but most of the technology stuff holds up fine.

EggyMeggy99

I didn't get some of it either, but I loved it.

kpaneno

LOL, just go with it. It's great.

hedgehogwart

I am watching The K2 and finally got to the ramen scene. I had heard it was bad, but that didn’t even prepare me enough for it. I think I read somewhere that Anna was originally supposed to be a child and that 100% checks out. I am on episode 7 and the only scene that feels specific to Anna as an adult is the one where she is sneaking out dressed as one of her guards and one of the other guards on watch believes it. Other than that everything the character does and how other characters act around her would make much more sense if she was a child.

ysports23

I hate that freaking ramen scene with a passion 😂. I actually love the rest of the show quite a bit so anytime I recommend it I have to add in a warning for that scene. I need people to know that my viewing tastes are better than that 😂.

hedgehogwart

I was expecting some corny scene where he was having to help her make the ramen and hijinks ensue, not her spinning around holding the ramen while he is watching from a screen in another room like: 😍. And than the whole trying to talk her through it encouragingly after repeatedly telling us he doesn’t care about people’s feelings and him being all 🥺 when she couldn’t figure out how to boil water. All that said, I am still really enjoying it.

helloh3lo

I really disliked K2 and didn't finish it - I think I backed around 3/4s in.

aprettylittlebird

I just finished She Would Never Know (aka Sunbae Don’t Put on That Lipstick) and I didn’t love it but I started Alchemy of Souls tonight and it’s already captured my interest! I’m also 2 episodes into Doom at Your Service but can’t decide if I want to continue because of the heavy subject matter

TheMsDacia

AOS is one of the best!! The story, the cast, the visuals--top notch, every episode. I liked Doom at Your Service but I did think it was hard to follow. I still don't think I understood what was actually going on lol

dorthyinwonder

I made the mistake of watching Doom at Your Service right after Goblin. I might need a rewatch. I didn't hate it, but I kept comparing it to Goblin

kpaneno

I enjoyed SWNK fairly well it had a few cringe scenes, but Won Jin Ah and Rowoon are so easy on the eye. I just enjoyed watching them

aprettylittlebird

I like Rowoon but he has definitely grown as an actor since that role. Won Jon Ah is beautiful but I thought she was a bit wooden as a love interest

kpaneno

Her first drama was just between lovers, and she was so much better in it. I think she was trying to hatd to be a career woman even her walk was very funny. But I'll always have a soft spot for her and Junho after JBL

forpfesake

-story of park's marriage contract: I am on episode 9 and I honestly have zero interest in the main couple's romance .they have no chemistry and IMO the ml doesn't have male lead worthy charisma or acting skills..he's so stiff. But I am all in for the mystery/time travel aspect of it ,also I am rooting for the stepmom (in the modern time-line) so far. -a bloody lucky day:the lead keeps making the dumbest decisions ever!..It is so frustrating,so I am thinking about dropping it but I am giving it one more episode before I decide.

TheMsDacia

Yeah, I kinda feel the same way about Park's Marriage Contract. It's just not delivering.

forpfesake

It started so good because Lee se young was carrying It on her back ...but girlie got tired.Good thing there are only 2 episodes left.

[deleted]

Just finished **Good job**. It was such a funny, non-serious show. Really liked the second couple. I liked Eum moon suk since the fiery priest, watching his expressions is so much fun. On the second episode of **Daily dose of sunshine.** I heard its kind of serious, so I was waiting to be in the right mood for this. Liking it so far. **Happiness** \- Don't know why I left this for so long. Loving Han hyo joo in this. Finished **Bad & Crazy** yesterday and can I just say I'm not getting over Lee dong wook in this lifetime. Show is crazy good and I love LOVE him with Wi ha joon. Than man is so fine ugh. Dropped **Jinxed at first** at ep5. I cannot take it seriously plus the FL is so cringe, like I get why she is childish but I just cannot take it. I watched **Love & leashes** last week (which was a good surprise) and started the show because of Seohyun but yeah.. Finally found the name of series- **I haven't done my best yet.** Watching this next. Turns out Kim do wan is in it. I couldn't recognize him in the reel. Really liked him in MRIG so looking forward to this. And watching on going shows is torture for me, so I'm impatiently waiting for **Welcome to Samdal-ri, Story of Park’s Marriage Contract** and **Death’s Game.** Specially the last one.

contessa82

Just finished **Bad and Crazy** and it was nuts. My first Lee Dong-Wook series and obsessed with him. I absolutely loved the bromance with K and also all the comedic turns.

EggyMeggy99

You should definitely watch Strangers From Hell, Goblin, Tale of the Nine Tailed and Touch Your Heart, Lee Dong Wook is great in all of them.

contessa82

Nice !!!

TheMsDacia

I feel like people didn't like Happiness, but I really enjoyed it. I think Bad and Crazy is my favorite LDW drama-after Strangers From Hell,of course. I love him in these darker roles.

kpaneno

Happiness was way too slow at times with too much focus on annoying characters and repetitive stuff going on, but....... the leads and their story is so good I would never tell anyone not to watch it as they make up for it all.

kpaneno

The first time I saw Good Job mentioned here, it is very enjoyable . The 2nd couple is so great. I agree 👍 it was all around, just good to watch

EggyMeggy99

I really enjoyed Bad and Crazy, I liked the humour, bromance and action in it.

sciencespecialist

Watching these that are on air: **A Good Day to Be a Dog** **8/14** \- cute, but I'm not binging it. I'm not convinced there's chemistry between the leads, and the story just took a turn, but I'll see this on through. **My Demon 10/16** \- I'm all caught up and am waiting for the next episodes to drop to see how the cliffhanger resolves. I wish I felt more chemistry between the leads, but it's not the worst chemistry. Hopefully we are in for some true Song Kang romance scenes soon. **The Story of Park's Marriage Contract 10/12** \- another one with chemistry issues between the leads, but I'll watch the last two episodes. The second couple is CUTE! I'm curious how this one will resolve all of the story lines. **Welcome to Samdalri 10/16**\- I'm glad some of the romance is picking up and I love the sisters' stories and am hoping there is more of that. The amount of drinking continues to bother me. It's just a lot to see and then think about when there is so much news of drug crackdowns (including marijuana) in South Korea. Most of the main characters can't seem to communicate without alcohol being involved. :( I recommend all of these as easy watches.

Almirage

I've started watching the [Goryeo-Khitan War](https://mydramalist.com/731965-the-goryeo-khitan-war) kdrama, which I think is the first time I've seen a real sageuk set before like, the 19th century instead of a fusion which introduces more modern elements. In particular the real sageuks tend to completely skimp on the male eye candy so me, being hella shallow couldn't be bothered to try older ones, but this one has someone from a boyband as the king so it's a lot more tolerable lol. Closest thing otherwise would be [Queen Seondeok](https://mydramalist.com/215-queen-seon-duk) which well, I'm not sure how much of it is made up (I'm counting prophecies and stuff as "might have been historical, from their era's perspective") but I know for sure it is cause I can clearly remember anachronistically Western fabrics and glasses in the show. Kinda hard to blame them on that when the records of the era are hardly comprehensive though. That said, the kdrama I'm watching now absolutely does not feel like I'm watching history. Even though I don't think I've seen much that's implausible to the extent of my knowledge (besides weirdly few extras and armor not being very effective, but you usually can't expect that much to be accurate from like anything) something about the way they are characterized just does not feel like I'm watching real human beings, it's more like a heroic saga instead. Like I guess its believable enough that the Khitans were actually that vicious (can't expect much from warmongers you know) and there's enough internal conflict in Goryeo to hardly paint them like saints, but the good guy bad guy paint in this thing just feels so thick it makes a Japanese colonialism era kdrama look like a subtle depiction in comparison, and those are the historical enemies Korea hates the most right now. ---- In big contrast to that drama I watched the completely fictional [Sword of Aramun](https://mydramalist.com/56513-arthdal-chronicles-season-2) drama to completion just before, and I'm pretty glad I didn't brush up on [Arthdal Season 1](https://mydramalist.com/28116-aseudal) first cause damn there's a lot of cast changes in here. I've never seen a show that changes its actors mid story before so I have like no immunity to the dissonance in memory. I am pretty satisfied with Aramun overall cause all things considered it is pretty conclusive even if this doesn't get a third part like it was supposed to. What I wanted the most after S1 ended was any sense of finality after we pretty much got cliffhangered on now you Inaishingi homie, see you next next next next year folks. Ironically even though its hella more fake than Goryeo-Khitan War I don't think I ever really felt dubious about how realistically the characters behaved in Aramun (can't remember for sure with its prequel, I only managed to recall major plot points) and there wasn't much to be confused over happening, it's all pretty straightforward even if they absolutely intend on hitting you with shocking plot twists. Maybe I am just more used to this kind of media. ---- On the modern kdrama side, I finished watching both Vigilante and Devil Judge. I mostly watched [Devil Judge](https://mydramalist.com/62087-the-demon-judge) because it was written by the person who wrote [Miss Hammurabi](https://mydramalist.com/25559-ms.-hammurabi) and because people were bringing it up as having what Vigilante lacks, but honestly I wasn't all that hype about Devil Judge. The premise of the show, one where tyranny of the majority decides your fate in broadcasted court was captivating enough, but this premise itself was taken away from the forefront long enough to make me miss what I came for, and it was really hard for me to actually care much about all the family bonding stuff it was trying to sell me on cause of how easily trust was broken between the two male leads. There's only one female character I actually kind of looked forward to as well and that's the female judge, I think somehow her relative lack of screentime was a blessing in disguise because it made her look way smarter than the lead who was so damn wishy washy even though she had so much less information to work off from being left out of the club. The female prosecutor villain was also okay but the rest was ehhh. (Also full disclosure I skipped almost all the corrupt politician hangout scenes. I am 99% sure I basically know what happened in them because let's be real you watch one crime drama with those peeps, you've watched them all as far as their screentime is concerned.) Also one thing that I just could not take seriously in the absolute slightest about Devil Judge was its claim to be about a dystopia. I'm like lmfao what dystopia? Countries right now easily have the same thing and worse. South Korea in its own short history (as a split nation) was more hellish than this and the drama straight up has someone bring up why, [pointing out a military takeover was an actual thing we used to do for gaining sovereignity.](https://koreaherald.com/view.php?ud=20121211000801) People voting in an absolute buffoon for leader of the nation? That's just Trump. People justifying public violence due to political tolerance over their actions? That's just Antifa. An ultranationalist who can't get girls that believes he is morally entitled to recognition? That's just your average incel. I can pretty easily believe all three of these are a real modern thing in South Korea too. ---- I liked [Vigilante](https://mydramalist.com/691815-vigilante) more but I am biased in that I was already reading the webtoon. I think the show's greatest strength is in how it used the time it had, only 8 episodes. Yeah they have to leave out details, one that really stood out to me was how the red hair reporter didn't provoke the vigilante with declaring on TV that she noticed his mentality in only using his fists in spite of how anybody knows its better to use a weapon, and I don't think that much had to be cut. But for the amount of time they demand for you to pay attention, it did a great job of actually showing everything you need to know, it's pretty much like a Korean movie in this respect. Unlike Devil Judge, it mostly stuck to what was advertised too which the webtoon also does, and I don't really think it had to be extended for a longer runtime considering the webtoon is also more about style than substance. The less detail you actually have to give to the audience, the less time is warranted for it, a lot of other dramas I had watched relatively recently disappointed me mainly in how much they tried to stretch a lack of meaningful information to provide with repetition and inconclusive encounters. I find it kinda hilarious how Yoo Ji Tae was playing Jo Heon though because the illustrated Jo Heon is like three times as big as him and this has a narrative purpose in telling you how insurmountable of an opponent he looks like. But they did well enough portraying how intimidating he is with the superhuman feats of strength and how he carries himself. I also like that they gave Mi Ryeo red hair like in the webtoon because while it didn't particularly suit her actress, it made her super recognizable to anybody who saw the source material. That fact made how they didn't have someone with brown hair play the protagonist weird though (or use a wig) which has to be the only time I've ever felt like I'd rather have brown than black just to keep up how faithful it looks, especially with just how ridiculously common dyed brown hair is in all of East Asia. Kang Ok has brown hair in the original too but the acting more than made up for how accurate he felt, it was really funny seeing all the Marvel product placement in his rooms too as a kind of bonus hint for how to interpret his state of mind.

watergypsi

Story of Park’s Marriage Contract - Which I am loving Crash Course in Romance - Not sure its one of the best I have ever seen but I only have another 4 episodes to go so might as well see it to the end now.

Ok-Impression6834

1. **Mr. Queen** (20/20) - I was hooked on EP 1, but have to admit it has dragged all the way to the end. Shin Hye Sun is phenomenal in this. Ending was confusing which is what I read here beforehand. 2. **Stranger S2** (10/16) - S1 was so good, but S2 is slower and missing some cast from S1. Gets better after EP 8.

contessa82

I agree about **Stranger 2**. Definitely not as riveting as 1 but still excellent. I’ve tried hard to find **Stranger**-like series and still on a quest. **Flower of Evil** was just as riveting. **Beyond Evil** and **Devil Judge** were great.

Sunshine_raes

My Demon (10/16): I hopped on the bandwagon late but I’m so glad I did. This is just such ridiculous fun. Pure entertainment. Secret Garden (2/20): Not sure if I will stick with this. But the comedy, when it’s there, is very funny. After my recent Heirs rewatch, I wanted to give another older Kim Eun Sook drama a try. Honestly, the characters so far are very Heirs-like.

sciencespecialist

I recommend sticking with Secret Garden, as it gets much better and funnier as it goes along. The beginning made me wonder why I was sticking with it, too!

kpaneno

Is it because the ML is good-looking 🤔 to me he was just a terrible character, and I still can not see the explanation of why the FL is supposed to like him. It's a very weird toxic show, IMO. He decides he likes her, treats her like shit gets away with being a total bully cause he's rich, and then one day she likes him, that's it no turning point in his behaviour. I know it's a (supposed) comedy but make it make some sense shouldn't he have some shift in character for her to like him or is the message that all women no matter how strong and independent will fall for you if you are rich entitled and brow beat them into it. I hated it. I watched until end to see would he change and unbievably, he didn't. Wow, girls what a terrible view of romance they turned the fiery beautiful idealistic self, made, stunt woman into a wifey with maids, be prepared. Then they threw in creepy last scenes, ugh.

Sunshine_raes

Thanks for the recommendation! I’m going to keep going!

EggyMeggy99

I love Secret Garden, it's great. My dad didn't like it for ages, but he stuck with it and loved it by the last episode.

Sunshine_raes

Good to know, I’m waiting for the body swap to happen. I’m going to keep with it.

kpaneno

SG is awful 😖 see for yourself and come back to me it offended me it was that bad LOL.

contessa82

* **Trolley** : Just finished this. Absolutely loved it. Love series with a twist or two. * **Bad and Crazy**: My first series with Lee Dong-Wook. Series was nuts full of drama, comedy and mystery. Excellent series * **The Lies Within**: desperate for a series with a good cop story and a mystery so started this one. Just not so compelling and slogging through.

TheMsDacia

I loved Bad and Crazy!!

contessa82

So good !

the-green-crewmate

**My Demon** - Fun drama! I’m Enjoying it. Easygoing story wise, but the chemistry is on point for the leads which is the biggest green flag in any romance. Depending on how this goes I think this has potential to be a longtime favorite for the enemy to lover trope and fantasy romance enjoyers. **Death’s Game** - Absolutely phenomenal so far. Can’t wait for the next episodes. While I do take some issue around (tw: suicide) >!the framing of why people commit suicide, shaming towards those who struggle with it, etc. Suicide is such a heavy topic it really needs to be handled carefully. But, I think the fact that the drama is speaking specifically to what happens after the act is committed and how the ones left behind are impacted is necessary discourse. The commentary around that element has been done well.!< **Welcome to Samdalri** - Just started this after reading some on air comments and I’m obsessed. The chemistry on the leads is excellent and I’m really invested in the FL’s story. Still early on but can’t wait to watch more of this.

christymoonchild

I’m finishing the last few episodes of **Castaway Diva** & waiting on the rest of **Gyeongseong Creature**.

eizeral

Watching quite a few things! 1. Death’s Game: finished part 1, ready for part 2 on Friday. Love the show! 2. My Demon: love this show. Last weekend without it was tough. Such a beautiful couple too. 3. The Story of Park’s Marriage Contract: absolutely love this one and am so excited to see how it ends this week! 4. Marry My Husband: Loved episode 1 so much I binged the entire webtoon before watching episode 2. Can’t wait to see how this one develops! 5. Welcome to Samdalri: Waiting for the main couple to get together but goddamn the acting chops of Shin Hye Sun and also JCW is impressive! 6. The Secret Romantic Guesthouse: on episode 4/18 and unsure if I will continue. It’s currently boring to me and I only decided to watch because of Ryoeun. 7. A Good Day to Be a Dog: on episode 12/14, kinda put it on hold bc the last few episodes have been boring and not interesting tbh. Will complete this one though. 8. Perfect Marriage Revenge: started yesterday, currently in episode 8/12. I’m really loving this one! It reminds me of Marry My Husband and Business Proposal but is distinctly different from both of them. So happy I stumbled upon this!

Umbrella_Storm

I am watching so many things right now that are currently airing: **My Demon** (10/16)- not groundbreaking or anything but eye candy galore and I want to see how it ends **Welcome to Samdal-ri** (10/16)- really enjoying this! I love Shin Hye Sun and Ji Chang Wook and I think they’ve been great together in this **My Man is Cupid** (8/16)- also not groundbreaking but an interesting concept with murder mystery and supernatural elements (and I’m quite fond of Jang Dong Yoon) **Like Flowers in Sand** (4/12)- more Jang Dong Yoon and mystery in a small town that I am enjoying a lot! **Tell Me That You Love Me** (11/16)- quietly beautiful and realistic **Marry My Husband** (2/16)- first two episodes were promising! I love revenge dramas **My Happy Ending** (2/16)- this grabbed me in the first 20 minutes and I was hooked. I would totally binge this if all of the eps were out On hold: **Hospital Playlist** (1/12)- I’m sure I’ll return to this when there are fewer things currently airing on my plate **Something in the Rain** (5/16)- this is super romantic so far but I also read some spoilers and am hesitant to jump into the upcoming angst and horrible mother. I’ll return to it eventually. Probably.

BelaFarinRod

For on air stuff I am watching My Demon and also The Story of Park’s Marriage Contract which ends this weekend . My Demon is fun but I really fell in love with the characters in Park’s Marriage Contract so I’m eagerly/nervously awaiting the ending. I meant to start Marry My Husband but didn’t yet. I have Daily Dose of Sunshine on hold as I’ve heard it gets to be a tough watch if you have depression issues, but I’ll probably start with it again soon. I started Flower of Evil but I’m only one episode in. I’m very impressed so far though. I also mean to start The Matchmakers and I may do that soon so I’ll have something lighter to watch. That’s a lot of stuff isn’t it? But I want to watch more dramas (as opposed to spending so much time on social media) so I’m ok with that.

No_Bed3450

Navillera - found this gem while waiting for new episodes of My Demon to air. I have no regrets investing 12 hours of my life on this show. It helped me work through pain and heal some wounds I didn't realise I had.

Heavy-Patience-3064

Currently watching Destined for You (2008) set in Twaiwan and Shanghai. Although I have loads started I needed an easy watch and at 40mins-odd for episode you can watch it in chunks. No-way does it give you the emotional roller-coaster of the Jang Hyuk - Jang Na Ra drama (my favourite) but it is engaging. The ML (Ethan Juan) is easy on the eyes and the FL (Joe Chen) is very good. The support case is good especially the saintly 2ML. Being such an old drama the lack of camera filter is refreshing. There is a lot of shouting, a graphic accident scene and a couple of plot holes which need to be overlooked. But, for easy viewing, this isn't bad.

kpop_ian

started imitation!

Lopexie

That Winter The Wind Blows — I’m convinced SHK just plays herself in every drama she’s in. She needs to do more stuff like The Glory and less melodrama. Moon in a Day —. Loving this and the story has me hooked.

springtreeswait

I was watching and enjoying all the popular on-air dramas but then I started my Christmas treat to myself, cdrama Till The End of the Moon and it is so ridiculously lush and deliciously over the top in every way I dropped everything else to binge it over the holiday… and now it’s over and I’m not sure what to watch now because it all feels so colorless in comparison! I need a good angsty sageuk, maybe The Red Sleeve will fit the bill.

springtreeswait

I should add my husband and I watched Moving together just before Christmas, another absolutely fantastic watch. I am spoiled from so many good dramas this month!

Flipperflopper21

Trans Siberian Pathfinders. So funny and sad at the same time 😢 😭

zaichii

I loved this show and the friendship between the cast. It is sad watching it now though.

Flipperflopper21

Super sad 😢 esp Kyu Pil’s getting married with Nam Gil officiating the wedding. Min-sik gained a fan in me. What a great guy!

onceiwaskingofspain

**Birthcare Center** (8/8): The start of my resolution to try new genres to break out of my year long slump. I'm *not* a fan of women being pitted against each other; but I do enjoy seeing women's issues through a different cultural lens and mothers from different walks of life thrown together in a luxurious post-partum care center was an interesting premise. During the early episodes there was enough black comedy to keep it snappy, the emotional beats of mothers struggling with the expectations of motherhood were on point and the unexpected bromance was endearingly wholesome. All the baby ppl was a nice change too. The thriller plot dealing with >!a mother who lost their baby trying to steal one!< and the rush of OTT drama/resolutions in the second half ruined it for me though. The social critique which started out so promising fell short as well: >!FL wrestling between her love of her job and her love of her child turned out to be a non-issue, SFL never resolves the disparity between her idyllic instagram persona and messy real life while TFL's insistence on independence from the patriarchal traditions of marriage as a single mother go no where.!< Important issues were touched on, but the story disappointingly favored the cultural status quo. Overall 7.5/10 from me. It met KDC #1 for location shared with the **Heirs** (Ilsan Cultural Park, Hill House, Incheon Int'l Airport); if anyone else looking to fill that slot it's a quick watch that tells a unique story even if doesn't manage to pull everything together.

Sunshine_raes

Thank you for your review! I personally loved Birthcare Center and think it is a unique drama about early motherhood. It managed to do a lot in 8 episodes. While the thriller plot line felt a little tonally shocking, it really packed an emotional punch for me. I knew someone who >!had a stillbirth shortly before I watched this and it was devastating to hear of their struggle and to feel so terrible about their loss as I celebrated the birth of my own child. The character also having struggled with infertility just made her even more understandable and sympathetic. It also got to the heart of the FL’s issues of feeling like a poor mother, the overwhelming guilt of not bonding quickly with her baby.!< My biggest critique of the drama is that the FL seems to have >!post partum depression and that is never addressed.!< That could have been a very rich plot line to explore. I get what you are saying about the lack of conclusion of some of the plot lines. How do you think they could have better resolved it and provided a better social critique? For me, some of these aspects of motherhood are such big systematic issues like lack of maternity leave or respect for mothers in the workplace or just the patriarchy in general that to offer a conclusion would have felt a little hollow to me and difficult to do within the confines of a show about a group of average women. I don’t recall their exact resolution but from what I remember, FL >!takes maternity leave for a few months, switches to formula, and feels more confident as a mother. It also shows her husband feeling more confident and taking a more active role in childcare. For the SFL, if I remember correctly, she and her husband start to have more honest conversations and he does more childcare.!< So, from what I remember there is progress in their personal lives if not bigger societal shifts.

onceiwaskingofspain

1. The Thriller Plot: >!The center knew the mother was suffering from post-partum depression, they knew she was fixated on FL's baby and they did absolutely nothing to help her even though that's why she was there. So the baby-stealing seemed contrived and needlessly melodramatic; I also would have much preferred to see a realistic treatment of her grief.!< 2. Conclusions: Too much a reliance on 'have your cake and eat it too' vs characters making tough, life changing decisions. I'm not looking for societal change, just an acknowledgement that parenthood means you can't have everything. For FL >!the power struggles at her workplace magically fade away in time for the finale; she reclaims her old position no problem.!< For SFL >!her reconcilliation with her husband happened too quickly and late to see any changes in their relationship outside of the epilogue.!< And for TFL >!it turned out her objections over marriage were that she thought she was unmarriable rather than any of the other very important reasons she previously mentioned.!< It all felt trite. But I disagree that the main characters were average women. FL is the youngest exec at an international beauty corp, SFL is an Instagram celebrity married to a pro athlete and TFL is early 20s with a successful start-up business. They're wealthy by any standard; the only 'average' character was the >!grief stricken mother!<, which is doubly why that plot didn't sit right with me.

JellyfishNumerous785

Currently watching Beyond Evil and on epi 5. Plot is twisty but too much talking about the possible culprit. Not enough events to propel the plot further but I’m hoping it picks up soon. Acting is really good and the brother/demoted officer plays his character well. I’m invested as I want to know who is the killer.

CryptographerSure328

the show is a slow burn but absolutely worth it!! its my favourite show ever !! the plot twists that will happen later on will make it even more enjoyable.

TheMsDacia

I agree; I really liked this drama Stick with it.

JellyfishNumerous785

Thank you!

No new finished dramas although both **Death's Game** and **The Story of Park's Marriage Contract** end this week, ready to be substituted as my backlog lingers. In progress \- **Marry My Husband (2/16):** a faster, not so makjang Perfect Marriage Revenge. Seeing PMY so thin breaks my heart but this is a kind of FL that suits her, the ML does the smitten one well and both SML and SFL are exactly the horrid, ridicolous characters deserving what's coming. Fun but pacing is a bit extreme, writing on notice; \- **Live Your Own Life (11/a lot):** long running dramas always have the same flaws and here too, from a bunch of hideous secondaries, whether they are old money pinching grandmas or disrespectful kids, to ups and downs plotwise, though there are enough entertaining storylines to hold it down and the leads work and look good together. Fillerish and all but surprising but not bad at all. Not much else new to add the list, all coming late into the month.

SilkenShod

put aside **My Demon** and **Hot Stove League** to binge **The King's Face** It fills the void left by finishing **The Matchmakers**

dorthyinwonder

My current list is: A Good Day to Be A Dog - I am waiting to make my judgment. I really enjoy it so far, but the tone of the show just changed. Secret Romantic Guesthouse - I am really enjoying this. It's pretty on par with typical period kdramas, but it makes me happy. It made me realize I watch kdramas with the same investment and fervor as sports pie watch soccer or football. Uncanny Counter 2 - I'm stalled on this. I need to finish it up, but I'm just not liking the new member. I feel like there's another? Next up is Hwarang and probably Park Marriage Contract or something. My list is pretty long.

Familiar-Dream1723

Is anybody getting a bit tired of My Demon?

kpaneno

I'm only getting tired of reading about it and "the visuals" and how good-looking Song Kang is. I didn't see it, but I did drop 3 of his other dramas because they were terrible and / or booorring. It seems he could be in anything, and he would get viewers. I don't get it personally. Also, the FL, who is admittedly a stunner, I dropped the two dramas I saw her in, too. As I haven't watched it, it could be great but I'm not in a hurry.

therealshunkaido

I’ve just finished Strong girl namsoon and it’s honestly a very good kdrama, I refused to watch it for so long bec I thought it would be a cheap copy of strong girl do bong soon or weightlifting fairy kim bok joo. Anyways am I the only one who felt really bad with the „villain“ ryu si-o? I think he could’ve changed his ways if namsoon were his love interest or he just had anyone by his side. He had the worst childhood and his crime, being a drug dealer, wasn’t that bad honestly. He never was a mean person and he is extremely good looking. Maybe it’s the halo effect and i can’t see him as a bad person bec of his looks. But he definitely deserved better. But just him having no one was a thing I was able to relate to a lot and I felt really bad for him throughout the series.

Skincareaddict13

Like many of you here, I’m waiting for new episodes of **my demon** and **death’s game**. In the meantime, I started **My dearest**. I’m still at the beginning of the show but I have a feeling it might have a sad ending. I’m enjoying the complex plot, rich characters, costumes and of course the slow bloom of romance. I watched the first five episodes of **welcome to samdalri** but I just can’t watch the 6th ep despite multiple attempts. I love both leads and all the cast, idk what’s missing in the drama? I think it dragged on for too long with no major events, a lot happened in the first ep and nothing for 4 eps.

meggktown

**Doctor Cha** (5/16) - I'm enjoying this but it's definitely less serious than I anticipated. It's pretty much a comedy. Kim Byung-Chul is winning me over in this. He plays that character of Dr. Seo very well and I love his facial expressions. I remember him well from *Mr. Sunshine* but until now, hadn't seen his other works. I was thrilled to see Kim Mi-Kyung again as Jeong-Suk's mother since I thought she was so great in *Healer.* I'm always happy watch something featuring more mature actors. You just can't see this as a medical drama because this is not exactly a hospital where you would want to be treated. :) Looking forward to seeing more.

Hour-Being8404

**Secret Royal Inspector & Joy** \- so far, very enjoyable! Not 'too hard, not too soft' just right for an easy watch. Ok Taecyeon - ML; Kim Hye-yoon FL

ealasaid76

Swing Kids with EXO’s DO. He’s an amazing actor! Also Welcome to Samdal-ri. Third Charm was full of melodrama, but I was hooked and finished it! 🤣

barbecuedhorse

I just finished Tale of the Nine-Tailed and I'm on episode 4 of Tale of the Nine-Tailed 1938. I love that it's not actually a prequel like I expected but actually a sequel to the main plot; I was really worried they'd retroactively undercut a lot of the tension and satisfaction of the main series by playing out some of the same stuff earlier in the timeline. So far it's fanfiction-y in the best way possible!

tresnosliramu22

i'm watching my demon... but... I have to skip many parts because it's unnecessary and boring. I think I'll stay loyal to this drama thanks to song kang's visual. I also watching marry my husband. I've read the webtoon, so I know the ending, the plot the secret, and the revelation but I guess watching drama adaptation has its perks too. It's fun. I just don't think the male lead has similar visual with the character (if you compared him with the webtoon version). but if you haven't read the webtoon, maybe you'll find him attractive. people say marriage revenge is good... but I don't like the actor who plays the male lead lol. just my preference. or his acting? his face? idk. I'm on ep 6 of park's marriage contract. it's light and fun.

Xuperie

I decided to watch *Fiery Priest* because it was written by the person who wrote *Vincenzo*. So far I just love it. I like the humour but mostly I love how the writer, 박재범, treats characterization. Everyone is important. They aren't mere props supporting the main character's development. I really dig how people who are normally seen as unimportant (an immigrant, a part timer at the corner store) are indeed important to the story and their community and have their own lovable quirks. I am also part way through *My Demon*. I am letting that one pile up though so I can binge it later.

Life_Ad1130

"Forecasting Love and Weather", I see that a lot of people didn't liked this drama, but I'm enjoying it so much, I am liking the characters and their stories and especially the way they show and use the weather as a metaphor, etc. I think it's really interesting. I'm currently on ep 10 Maestra: Strings of Truth - I watched a few shorts on YouTube and decided to watch, it's so good, the FL is a badass, she doesn’t let people control her, they may try but she will be a step ahead, really liking this one and it's keeping me on my toes. I'm currently on ep 6 My Demon - This one got me hooked since the beggining, the plot, the characters, the cinematography... beautiful. Can't wait for the next ep Encounter - I started watching this one and I'm currently on ep 6, their relationship is so calm and beautiful, a really good noona romance Military Prosecutor Doberman - I love Bo Hyun and his character here is so good, I'm currently on ep 12 Good Manager - I love Namkoong Min and this drama is so funny, a good watch. Currently on ep 17

TxPep

Watching.... ***Love Me, Love My Voice (C)***, for the second time. 🤦🏻‍♀️ I want an ultra-sweet start to my new year. 😊 Plus, I love the OST. ***Find Yourself (C)***, Song Wei Long is just darn beautiful. Do a search for his modeling pics...and drool.

Yes, I agree I thought **The Forbidden Marriage** was better than **The Matchmakers**

Prestigious_Alarm526

First happy new year a lot of new drama starts but i only started **My happy ending(2/16):** I only start this with the love of the couple from Go back couple but i got shocked by the start. I got anxious watching this so many things going on. I totally understand the fl breakdown because what the fk going on.First she have >!stalker for 7 years who decided to act up, she had someone telling her her step dad killed her mom to take the Insurance money, then found out her husband cheating with her best friend. and the stalker attack her and in top of that she have Psychological problems since childhood because her mother tried to kill her while she was trying to commit suicide. !!she have big trust issue and the stalker know and is using that I think the stalker is her husband's twin, he also the one dating her best friend to use her, he go to the house and put this paper in the office for her to see it. we will later know why he do that and target her. because why the husband will take the little girl to met the woman he cheat with, he most likely take her to his brother and his gf or he don't know about the twin too and he just is preparing some surprise to the wife with his daughter. SML is another kind of stalker a stalker who love her. !< it have been a while since one drama make me want to rent so I'm excited and i hope they didn't disappoint me. **My Demon(10/16):** no new ep this week but I rewatch their sweet scenes this couple is so so sweet. **MY dearest (16/21):** i'm half way in ep17 god i hate the useless SFL line why are they dragging the drama with this character. also make this king dye already. I love and enjoy this show a lot but they are dragging it in s2 with annoying characters. Need to catch up with **Welcome to samdalri** still in ep6 and want to start **Marry my husband** but I'm not Min Young fan. is it good??

Puzzled_Kiwi_8583

I’ve watched the first two episodes of marry my husband and it’s been pretty good so far. I also read the webtoon and immensely enjoyed it. I think the writers here did a good job of portraying things and changing others things to make it easier to understand/accept.

Prestigious_Alarm526

Thank you, i will give it a try this week.

joonchild

I'm not a Min Young fan either, but she's quite good in this, story has kept my attention for the two eps that are out. Happily the overwrought abusive elements didn't last long in the 1st ep & we get to see some strength in FL

winterblues92

Start-up, I'm so glad I gave it a try and currently at episode 10. Both the guys are so hot, I don't get why they're so obsessed with the FL. I would much prefer if they date each other, they have insane chemistry while competing for the girl

CryptographerSure328

twinkling watermelon: pretty late to the game but absolutely in love with it rn. so beautifully written and acted, was already a big fan of Ryeoun because of adult trainee and through the darkness but i must say this character is one of his best work. choi hyun wook is literally one of the best young k actor rn, my new obsession honestly. am only 7 episodes in but it might become my top 1 show. plus the ost is a gem!! 8.5/10 taxi driver: it is a gem of a show but at the moment it’s getting a little bit weird like there are some details which are difficult to miss and they ngl ruin the show. but the acting and lee je hoon are the only reasons i’m still so into it. it’s like they give some amazing episodes back to back and then one episode just doesn’t feel like that. so far 7.5/10 only friends: just finished a while back, literally only continued for first and khaotung. they are so ndufieifiksjf lol. literally in love with them. but the show was not my type ig that’s why i didn’t enjoy it as much as i wanted to. 7/10

magicsmoke24

Call it love. I don't know why I stumble across such shows. The cast is great, the writing is so-so. ML/FL are cold to each other at first and warm up over time. >!Then they start their relationship, end their relationship \[often during same episode\]. Then you get a time skip with angst filler. Then the last minute you get the ambiguous ML/FL standing close together hugging leaving you to wonder if they are together or not, roll credits.!< >!That is the one thing I dislike about many Kdramas. Hogu's Love was like that too, but at least you got to know the depth the ML/FL emotions ran for each other through out the show and their many "break ups"!< Hogu's Love. I feel it was underrated but I get why. >!Homosexuality, Incest, suicide, Rape, unwed mother, social status. All hard topics to cover in a show labelled as a comedy. They tried and the show got real dark and rushed during the last 3 episodes. Still the ending was fine as the main couple has lots of intimate moments through out the series. !<

Because This is My First Life It's a little weird, tbh, but enjoying it. And also watching Schittt's Creek again.

booksnkittens

I just finished **My Mister** two days ago - I loved it so much, wish I had watched sooner. It got me deeply in my feelings & I wish I hadn't binged it. Last night I started **My Lovely Sam Soon** \- I needed something at least 10 years old for the challenge and decided it was time to see baby Hyun Bin. "How am I going to make it through 16 hours of these awful production values??" was my first thought but by episode 2 it didn't bother me anymore. It's dated for sure, but it's funny af. Maybe after this I will give **Coffee Prince** another shot.

sciencespecialist

I’m watching My Lovely Sam Soon for the challenge, as well. It’s so funny!

Snickersnerds

**Currently Watching** **A Good Day to be a Dog (12/14):** Liked last week’s episode more than the previous one. Too much mess with the >!past life.!< I love the >!reincarnated lovers, star crossed lovers, etc. tropes!< but some dramas just don’t need them!! I know it’s based off a webtoon though. Anyways, 2 more episodes to go! **The Story of Park’s Marriage Contract (10/12):** Also a little similar with too much >!past life stuff!< but still enjoying it. Great story, I just wish everything was done being explained because iirc we still don’t know everything? This one ends on Saturday 🥲 **East of Eden:** I’ve only watched maybe 10 minutes but I think I’m in for a crazy ride **Recently Completed** **Queen In Hyun’s Man:** finished this one on 12/31, just in time for the new year 😂 I was really enjoying it the first 10ish episodes but then my excitement kinda went down after that. In the show’s defense, it took me 3 months to finish because I was taking breaks for other shows. It was good, the last few episodes just had too many trials and tribulations for me. 7.5/10

Connect-Cut5002

The Story of Park's Marriage Contract, My Man is Cupid, My Demon, Marry My Husband, and GS Creature

comicsreaderyeaah

I'm gonna start welcome to samdal-ri, Gyeongseong Creature and death game. I gave myself the challenge to review 2/3 dramas per month, and I haven't done anything this month yet (christmas and new year was a very couch potato-i period this year)

Basic-Discussion-497

Right now kings affection

Silly-Pangolin7755

**Hotel King** 21/32 - It's an old one, but not as bad as I'd thought it'd be

cyhustle

Happy New Year, y'all! After wrapping up **Extraordinary Attorney Woo** then **The Glory** I had a dry spell and couldn't really get into anything for a while-- until recently :) Just finished (binged) **A Time Called You** during the holidays and maaan... what a crazy fun ride lol. Was not expecting all that. Currently in love with **Welcome to Samdal-Ri** and Ji Chang-Wook for that matter. I am crushinggg. I need more JCW so I've also started the first episodes of **Lovestruck in the City** and **Backstreet Rookie**. Neither seem to be as interesting as WTSR, but JCW alone is enough incentive to keep going. Feels good to be back in the kdrama realm!

helloh3lo

I've just finished a Time Called You too & thought it was great although felt the ending was a little flat.

zaichii

Been a bit lazy on the Kdrama front the past few days but caught Ep 4-5 of **Story of Park’s Marriage** and I still like it. My main gripe is the company stuff and Yoo Seon Ho. Loved him in Produce 101 but he can’t act and he really doesn’t feel like he belongs in this drama - maybe if he did a couple of web dramas or high school/teen dramas etc instead. Also gave **Maestra** a try because I do like Lee Young Ae as an actress but it’s just not my type of show. It’s a bit hard to digest because I don’t really care about the world of conductors (sorry to those musically inclined or cultured). Also I spotted Lee Si Won (for anyone who watched Devil’s Plan) which was a nice surprise. Slowly watching **The Good Wife** because it’s not the type of show I find easy to binge. I like all the actors but non stop politics tires me.

WeirdVoice4294

Started My demon thinking it has ended , binged watched until realized it has not finished yet! !! the rage i felt

mech-engineer104

Isn’t anyone watching Tell Me That You Love Me?! It’s a really good slow burn drama. Kinda gives me the tranquil feel. However I feel it could have better cinematography.

deewyt

It's been two weeks since I left off on Death Game so I turn it on to watch before dinner and have to double check the title twice within the first five minutes LOL Thought it was Vigilante and then I thought it was The Voice...so funny.

1430Granny

I just finished re watching Alchamy of Souls because My Demon is taking forever to load in. I love AoS part 2. It is my favorite kdrama love story.
