**Captivating the King -** I love this drama! Everything about it is wonderful! The scenery, the music, but most of all Jo Jung Suk. He is amazing as a King. This actor can do everything! (And play guitar and sing It's My Life!) His sense of presence as a conflicted, angsty, but strong king is wonderful. Of course, like all of the "girl dressed as a guy" saeguks, we have the Clark Kent syndrome here. Contrary to what JJS said in an interview, there is no way that this king didn't know right away that this is a woman. But other than that, it's done so well. I binged it this past week. I hope the last episodes wrap things up well. The FL's character is a little wishy-washy, but I'm sticking with this to see what happens.
**Marry My Husband -** I had binged this the week before, so now I'm finishing it. I have 2 more episodes, so I'll finish tomorrow. I enjoyed this, although not so much episode 14. But I think the last two episodes will be good. I think Park Min Young redeemed herself from the last couple of dramas that were luke-warm (for me). This drama has been engaging and her acting is really good. The villains are so wonderfully bad.
**My Roommate is a Gumiho -** Rewatching this with my zoom friend. We only have time for one episode a week, so it's slow, but she's enjoying it and I love this. It's lighter and perfect roles for Jang Ki Yang and Kung Han-na.
I want to watch **Dr. Slump** and **Like Flowers in Sand** before the March dramas come out. Looking forward to **Queen of Tears.**
Your review of Captivating the King has convinced me to watch it. I love Jo Jung Suk so much because he's just so perfect at whatever he plays. But in my mind he is engraved as Ik Joon forever now. The impact he has had with that drama on me in insane. Anyways will check it out soon, thanks!
Also, as someone who did not enjoy My Roommate is a Gumiho much, I adore Kang Han Na so much in that drama, I cannot dislike her despite her playing the antagonist role in Scarlet Heart so brilliantly. Meanwhile it is the opposite with Shin Hye Sun, her unbearable character from Legend of the Blue Sea never leaves my mind despite her being so brilliant at her job. Ooof.
I know we have enjoyed many of the same dramas. Yes, Jo Jung Suk is indeed perfect. I first saw him in King 2 Hearts and I think he was brilliant in that one. Ik Jun was a wonderful character. I often wonder how actors choose the roles that they accept. I'm sure it's a process, and he's so versatile and can play silly, serious, emotional, angsty, and strong. And then he can go play Hedwig. I would travel to Korea to see him do Hedwig. And if you haven't seen the movie with D.O. and LSJ go ahead and watch it. (My Annoying Brother). JJS plays a completly different character - an ex-con!
Yes I have watched that movie (oh how can I ever miss any drama or movie with my first ever bias DO, love of my life!) and I have genuinely adored their bond in that movie. Both DO and JJS were amazing in that movie!
Felt the same way about Shin Hye Sun when I first saw her in Legend of the Blue Sea! Then I saw her on Mr Queen and I was like is this even the same actress?!
Yes I agree she’s done so many fantastic dramas after LOTBS but I cannot for the life of me like her despite knowing and appreciating her craft. To each their own I guess.
For a second, I had been doubting Park Min Young after two back to back duds (FLAW, Love in Contract) - but wow, **Marry My Husband** was such a fun ride!! I didn’t have an issue with the >!additional FL!< at episode 12 that annoyed a lot of people - that extra plot was actually necessary bc it turned up the heat on Su Min and Mi Hwan and those actors NAILED it. Song Ha Yoon’s portrayal was incredible - so many little moments where she was pitch perfect - her moments of overconfidence, the >!scary smile underwater!<, her lying when cornered…I feel like it was a truly masterful award worthy performance. And I didn’t expect how scary good Lee Yi Kyung was going to be - I only know his comedic side but he was fantastic. >!I am so glad the writer didn’t follow the formula of any redemption for them either.!< They went to town on those roles - good for them! All in all a great crowd pleaser of a revenge fantasy romance - the fan service at the end was so fun. I think this would be a perfect drama to use as an introduction for someone wanting to dip their toe into kdrama - tons of tropes done very well, fast paced story, top notch acting, sweet satisfying ending. I was wondering how it would stack up to Perfect Marriage Revenge which *just* ended, but they pulled it off amazingly well - both were great but MMY takes it by a nose
**Doctor Slump** (8/16): Love the way the drama is developing, and how the second half of the series is wide open with refreshing possibilities. Episode 7 unexpectedly resolved the >!mystery!< subplot in a swift and decisive manner, while episode 8 demonstrated that the leads have a lot to work through in their lives.
**Happiness** (4/12): A double dose of Park Hyung-sik. He’s great in this as Yi-hyun, even though Han Hyo-joo as the badass, charismatic and cool Sae-bom tends to steal the spotlight. The theme of a post-COVID pandemic set in an apartment complex is topical, interesting, and takes me back to those challenging times in 2020.
Happiness has legit been one of my favourite watches in the monster genre. Not a show I would enjoy but this was well done with such fleshed out characters with the most natural romantic developments.
Regarding Doctor Slump, I agree. It's really interesting how the plot is so open ended right now. I too was suprised at how the mystery storyline was summarily resolved. I am struggling to think of another kdrama that did something similar. It is refreshing in that it will be something new, I just hope that the next plotline is entertaining to keep my interest for the second half of the show.
I watched Happiness for the first time last month. It was fun, if a little unbelievable at points, but worth watching through to the end. Sae Bom is a great character. The second half doesn't quite live up to the first, but again, it's worth the watch.

I went back to just -look- at Happiness for a second to see whether I was just making sh\*t up in my head about how broad his range is even within the romantic male lead category and have ended up bing watching. Tale of the Nine Tailed 1938, it’s so good and made up for the first season that I didn’t particularly like. The 3 main leads are such a joy to watch.
I didn’t expect there to be so much comedy and so it really helped me cope with my negative emotions lately during this time of the year.
I’m going to miss this drama when I finish it.
Can I watch this without watching first season? Will it make sense? I have tried watching first season about 3 times but I just can’t get into it. However I really like Lee Dong Wook (Just watched Shop for Killers and loved it) and am always up for more of his work.
**Flex X Cop**. Not a lot of people are watching this. The premise is kinda dumb but unironically the show kinda slaps.
You go in expecting a mid show that's funny and, the more you watch, the more you think to yourself: "Wait, why is this actually GOOD? It has no right to be this good yet...it IS?"
I got stuck on it while looking for dramas to watch while waiting for Captivating the King. It's excellent writing with a nice balance of comedy and angst. I love the depth of the ML's character and the chemistry between his teammates as the temperature goes from icy to slow thaw. A bit predictable here and there but not overly dependent on tropes. Now am impatiently waiting for the rest of the episodes to land..
Except for Doctor Slump nothing has piqued my interest. And even Doctor Slump is at the crucial point of the second half conundrum cause almost every recent drama seems to go downhill after ep 8.
And so I've started my half yearly ritual of rewatching CLOY. It's amazing how a good show becomes great because of exceptional chemistry. Their love story is still giving me the same butterflies and I strongly believe that Hyun Bin and Son Yejin gradually fell for each other during the show lol.
I love CLOY and just saw that the same writer also wrote Legend of the Blue Sea (currently binging and enjoying), AND **Queen of Tears**. I’ve got high hopes because I am truly enjoying how well written LOTBS is (as was CLOY).
I'm also waiting for Queen of Tears for the same reason. The writer writes some really good romance. Have you watched her work "My Love from Another Star"?

Truly a drama that should have ended at episode 12. The last four episodes are the most insane 180 I’ve ever seen, not a single thing revealed was needed. It almost ruined the show for me. I wanted more fangirling and fluff not whatever that was. The chemistry between the leads was so amazing and natural, that I can’t help but still love the drama overall. But those last few episodes were rough to get through. 8/10
**Dali and the Cocky Prince 4/17:** An interesting start. The word “quirky” comes to mind with this show, it feels different from anything else I’ve seen before. Even the editing style and transitions are new for me. I’m not hooked just yet though, I do find it a bit confusing, and the leads aren’t doing much for me. But there’s potential, we’ll see if I end up dropping this one.
Just finished **Flower of Evil**, feel betrayed by the late >!mother f-ing amnesia plot twist to sidestep any attempt at a rational ending.!< Going to watch romcoms for a while to rest my brain. Enjoying **Doctor Slump** and **The Tale of Nokdu** very much.
FOE's ending is the reason I have Kdrama trust issues and check all drama endings with recaps now. It gets recced as a drama with a happy, satisfying ending and IMO it's anything but.
I don’t mind most troupes in kdramas, even find them funny, but the >!amnesia!< is really starting to piss me off. It gets used as often as the White Truck of Doom, but is much more agonizing to clean up afterwards.
I liked Flowers of Evil, but I also pretend the Amnesia portion never happened. Ironically, I am forcing myself to lose memory of that plot element so I can appreciate the rest of the show which I found quite gripping.
**The Great Shaman Ga Doo Shim** 2021 (5/12) is a fun short drama (twelve 20-minute episodes) with good actors and an engaging story. Kim Sae Ron is good in this; it’s a shame her personal life torpedoed her career. Nam Da Reum is also good and I feel he is an actor to watch as he makes the transition from child to adult roles. The short format means that the story is bared down to essentials, which with good writing and cast is working out very well so far.
**Ugly Alert** 2023 (130/133) I’m on the last minutes of this excellent series and will miss it when it’s over. This is for sure going in my top 5 long form dramas. I find that the long dramas I like best have a stable central romance. This type of drama invariably has many characters, and when the central relationship isn’t solid, everything else feels too chaotic.
**My Fellow Citizens!** 2019 (31/36 episodes) ML Choi Siwon and FL Lee Yoo Young have absolute zero chemistry, which spoils much of the fun in this otherwise zingy drama. Kim Min Jung as the villain with the sexy wiggle walk is much more interesting. A con man hides his real job as a criminal from his police detective wife and is blackmailed by a loan shark into running for political office. Either lead, without the romance, could have carried a non-romance drama alone. Together they are less than either is alone. 1 + 1 = 0.7
**Marry My Husband** 2024 (15/16 episodes) Loved it from start to finish. Was expecting a cutesy PMY star vehicle but pleasantly surprised! PMY was unglamorous, then serious and mean. The villains were brilliantly acted - both Lee Yi Kyung and Song Ha Yoon deserve much credit for excellent performances as villains we love to hate yet have smoking hot chemistry and we want to see more of.
**Doctor Slump** - Really loving this one it's so wholesome makes you feel all the feels I am invested in the characters and how I absolutely love their chemistry and how they have balanced the story arc realistically while showing mental health issues.
**Dali and the Cocky Prince** - Just started this one it's giving chaotic cute romcom vibes loving it and the ML and FL are so opposite it's hilariously cute.

This is one of my favorites. I'm a little jealous that you are watching it for the first time. The opposites attracting is so endearing in this one. The leads' chemistry are great. There's humor, mystery, makjang, romance. Idk how to describe it, other than a well-balanced interesting kdrama that delivers a lot of entertainment for watchers.
I had been in a Kdrama slump for over a month now. Rewatched few of my favorite ones and then decided to watch **"Perfect Marriage Revenge"** just to get ready for Marry My Husband as the later just finished airing. The first ep was meh. Husband falling for the sister was a little too Makjang for me. But oh boy, the second episode got me hooked and how. This drama has that perfect mix of fluff and makjang. It's my first drama starring Sung Hoon and let me say, he is a beautiful man, like the ones who make you feel kilig just by their visuals. But, I admit, his acting is not that great- appears wooden in many scenes. Most of the female actors are quite new to me but they run the show. I am halfway through and really dont want to see this ending. The production quality is not at par with the other kdramas, but it doesn't affect the experience as the script doesn't meandre much. 12 episode is the perfect length. I cant wait to see how she takes revenge. I will be following this with MMH and by then, Queen of tears would be out.
P.S: Penthouse actors are really great at emoting through their eyes, though! Ji Jin-hee was exceptional. Btw, Lee Min Young, FL's step mom has a little resemblance to Kim So-yeon of Penthouse in terms of styling!
Sung Hoon is such an eye candy (watched a number of bad/average dramas for him!), but his acting is inspired by a piece of wood, from debut til now, bless him.

He would make a great fashion model, but definitely not a good actor. Very bland. All his expressions are just the same. He just uses his eyebrows to show he is sad or angry. That's it.
After watching him, my respect for Hwang Minhyun (Seo yul of Alchemy of Souls) just increased a bit, lol.
I'm a bit behind on currently airing dramas, thanks to grad school and a full time job. Thankfully I don't have as many currently airing dramas as December (I miss them all though).
**Doctor Slump** (6/16) - I am just really, really loving this drama. Park Shin Hye and Park Hyung Shik have wonderful chemistry. The comedic timing is always perfect, and it's just a drama that makes me happy to watch (even if it is dealing with mental health). I'm liking that the story is really revolving around Ha Neul and Jeong Woo's relationship and having the career be the b plot. I haven't watched eps 7/8 yet but I did see some spoilers, I hope the >!breakup!< is dealt with soon because I want my >!happy couple!< back.
**Flex x Cop** (6/16) - This is one I had no expectations for going in and I'm really enjoying it! I like how all the characters are interacting and the charcter growth, it's fun and reminds me a bit of an American comedy procedural like Castle or Lucifer, which are always great.
**Captivating the King** (3/16) - I just started this one and I can already tell I'm in for a suspenseful, emotional ride. I'm tempted to wait until it's over to see how it ends, but I don't think I can wait.
**Marry My Husband** (10/16) - I seem to be one of the few people who enjoyed the webtoon more than the drama, which is probably why I'm stuck on episode 10. I do enjoy some of the changes, but others take away from the story in big ways, which is why I think I'm not loving it. I do love PMY in this role, and the actress playing Sumin is nailing every bit of crazy.
**Strong Woman Bong Soon** (6/16) - Slowly watching this classic for the first time with family, and it's really funny. The >!kidnapping!< plot is way more brutal than I expected, but I am liking the comedy a lot.
**My Lovely Liar** (4/16) - This one has been cute so far, no strong feelings but it's keeping my interest, which is always good!
I have a lot of other dramas I've started but just can't finish. **A Good Day To Be A Dog** (10/16) has started to bore me with the >!Mountain God's annoying backstory!<. I also haven't finished **Run On** (10/16) and **Because This Is My First Life** (6/16) because the ML's in both are too robotic and just... have no personality. I've also had **Hidden Love** (19/25) paused since December, and I can't bring myself to finish it, unfortunately.
I also agree that **Because This Is My First Life**, does get way better and it ended up being a fantastique drama. However I don't think the male lead is autistic, his personality feels like a stoic one. Which also explains why he he has such an hard time expressing his emotions and why we see such a deep improvement by the end of the drama.
I really didn’t like A Good Day to be a Dog from episode 10 onwards. The mountain god storyline was written poorly and it just kind of made the remaining episodes boring.
I agree that the kdrama Marry My Husband doesn't quite deliver like the webtoon. Also, eps 10-13, felt difficult to watch. I hate to say it, but the director/writer didn't use those minutes well. The show went from a 9/10 to 8/10 imo. I know it's a common critique, but maybe this should have been 12 episodes instead of 16? or maybe 14?
Just finished The story of Park’s Marriage Contract! It was a ride!!! I wish it had more episodes tho and a better ending. It was a Happy ending but it felt rush. I wished we had more of how they lived their life after they got back together.
I enjoyed **Welcome to Samdal-ri** a lot, but if you are feeling a deja-vu kind of feeling, I would advice you to leave it on hold and return to it when you are in that exact mood for a drama set in a seaside village with amazing neighbors and an amazing support system to their younger generations. It's a really good drama, but if you are feeling a deja-vu it means that the memory of something else is still very fresh in your mind. Probably **Our Blues** or **Hometown Cha Cha Cha**, they are all very similar concepts. This is the type of dramas that you can't watch one after the other or they start blending with each other.
Also **Under The Queen's Umbrella** is a fantastique drama and I hope you enjoy it. The more that I tried to look for something similar to it, I couldn't find anything. This is a drama that is extremely unique and the two character that I still remember so vividly today, are Kim Hye Soo and her scenes with Yoo Sun Ho. They are all amazing actors, but those scenes stayed in my heart.
I felt the same way about Samdal-Ri after the first episode so I watched it slowly and inbetween other things, and found it grew on me immensely, especially toward the second half.
That being said, I haven't seen Hometown Cha Cha Cha or our Blues or the others that it's often compared to so take that for what you will.
I agree, would add that Blues addresses a lot of sad contemporary issues in heart warming ways, while Samdal is more silly (I will NEVER get over the feuding auntie biker gangs, lol)
I just finished **Welcome to Samdal-ri** and it's probably going to end up being in my bottom 10. It picked up towards the end for me, but that wasn't enough. You already have a head start in that you like the lead actors. I liked the ML in Healer but wasn't familiar with the FL at all. I ended up not really liking them in this one.
Completed:
**Marry My Husband** — Solid ending. Not rushed, cohesive, completion made sense. The overall story was great, acting was phenomenal, chemistry good. Still didn’t like the introduction of the fiancée – it felt very unnecessary – but still excellent drama.
**Ready, Set, Love** — Thailand — This was cute! Corny as heck but super cute! It’s funny, sweet and short. It also looks to be setting up a season 2 which I would fully be on board with. The one interesting thing is the gendered language and honorifics. I can’t pick up Thai well at all – I struggle a lot – so I know I missed a lot of the nuisance (and Netflix translations so…) but they definitely used the gendered honorifics/speech in interesting ways in the script.
**The King: Eternal Monarch** — I had been meaning to watch this for a while. Glad I waited. This is not a Kdrama beginner friendly drama at all. If you don’t know Kdramas and their tropes/storytelling methods it’s going to be confusing and/or seem like crappy story telling I think. I personally didn’t find the story confusing as I like these types of stories though I do think it would have been better as a 20 episode drama. I also liked the ending, which a lot of people don’t. I think it fit perfectly with the world building and universe rules and was not just the most logical but also a decent one. Not sure why it gets hated on.
Watching:
**Between Him and Her** — (8/10) — Honestly over this one but might as well finish it up. They are totally going to get back together. Which is fine. But the story to get there has circled the drain a bit.
**Doctor Slump** — (8/16) — The leads are ridiculous but have such cute chemistry and it’s super enjoyable. This healthy approach to mental health issues. Good job dramas dragging everyone into thinking about mental health as a real issue. And how is Park Hyung Sik so good as these goofy, endearing, sweet male leads? Dude has a talent for this character type that few others are any good at.
**Queen of Divorce** — (6/12) — I have enjoyed this one. The ML is crazy supportive despite the twists and villains. Like no doubt in his mind. Very nice to watch.
**Memories of the Alhambra** — (5/16) — The premise for this is fascinating. I have been meaning to watch it for a while but haven’t gotten around to it for various reasons. I saw this on a recommendation post – as well as suggested by Netflix - and I was hunting for a new one to watch after finishing up The King: Eternal Monarch so figured why not. So far the story has sucked me in.
**Although I Love You, and You? or Sukiyanen Kedo Do Yaro ka** — (6/10) — Japan BL — Another typical Japanese BL. It's fine. Not a must watch but decent and cute. Hopefully they get their stuff figured out.
**Perfect Propose or Paafekuto Puropoozu** — (4/6) — Japan BL — It’s been called a mix of My Personal Weatherman and Old Fashioned Cupcake and it is. There’s food and a cute couple that needs to figure themselves out. Much better than Although I love you, and you.
**A Killer Paradox** — (3/8) — Still haven’t continued on this. Might or might not finish it. This is not the drama I anticipated.
Ready, Set, Love surprised me, the productions values are much higher than anything else I've seen from Thailand and it was solidly entertaining. My main gripe with it is it didn't fully exploit the concept of a world ruled by women where men are an endangered species and fetish objects to be controlled and exploited by the wealthy. It was a missed opportunity imo. (I also find Thai very difficult to pick up, I've learned a lot of words and formality levels in Korean and Japanese just from drama watching but Thai is a beast)
I am not alone then with Thai! Japanese and Korean I understand - Korean to the point I am actually learning the language because I picked up enough of it (ha!) Heck I even understand some Mandarin- though a lot less than Japanese. Thai? Nope. Other than the honorifics and an occasional word here and there I just don’t get it. I would have thought I had at least gotten the swear words by now but nope. Mad respect to Thai speakers.
Anyhow, yes the production value also surprised me! They did well with that that. From the trailer I totally expected some deeply misogynistic drama but it was absolutely the opposite - though with many issues still needing explored. There was a lot left out. I sincerely hope we get a season 2 and a chance to see this. I have to admit I wonder what a Japanese or Korean remake would look like. There’s a lot of potential for societal commentary with this concept.
Like Flowers in Sand (7 or 8?/12): Still really enjoying this! Baek-du and Du-Shia are both fantastic characters. The slowly developing romance warms your heart on a cold winter’s day. Also, the town mystery is compelling. I’m savoring this drama!
Legend of the Blue Sea (8/20): I was watching for the binge but I got derailed by traveling. Now, I don’t think I can catch up and I might drop it as I remember thinking the first third of the drama was the best part. But I’m loving reading the discussions!
Kdramas:
**Marry My Husband:** this was well written and hella fun up to episode 12 when the truck of doom jumped the shark. I watched the last four episodes purely to enjoy the fandom response to the cracked out plot developments. Definitely entertaining but fell off drastically in the end. Special shoutout to the actors who played Sumin and Minhwan, they were the MVPs.
**A Shop for Killers:** Just started this one, nice to see Lee Dong Wook as an uncle who also appears to be >!mixed up with assasins!< (I think, we'll see how the story progresses). The drama starts with an intense action sequence and the actress who plays LDW's niece is very good.
Everything else:
**Cherry Magic (Thailand):** A remake of a Japanese BL that is nowhere near as good as the original but I'll finish this one since we're close to the end and I want to see how it all turns out.
**Wake Up Ladies (Thailand)**: an older drama that's kind of like Sex and the City where four female friends and their gay male mentor navigate relationships. It's cute and very Thai.
**Never Too Late (China):** I've been very slowly making my way through this one. It's a slice of life drama about the friendship between 30 and 60 year old women who are rebooting their lives after divorce and job loss. It's a very sweet drama but I'm taking my time with it since it's 33 episodes long and it's not a hard driving plot.
**Long Vacation (Japan):** An aging and chaotic model gets dumped on her wedding day and moves into the apartment that her former fiance shared with a classical pianist struggling with his career. It's a slow burn romance between two very different people and incredibly charming.
**Saigo Kara Nibanme no Koi (Japan):** A 45 year old drama writer buys a house in a seaside town south of Tokyo. Her next door neighbor is a 50 year old widower single parenting his daughter and living with his sister and her adult kids. They both grapple with getting older and daring to hope for a second chance at love. Very sweet slice of life.
I’m watching:
**Captivating the King** real slowly. I can only watch one episode at a time, but Jung Jo Suk is stellar. What a star.
Rewatching my comfort show **Vincenzo**. It’s so funny. There’s so much chemistry between the entire cast and so many of the actors have excellent comedic chops. Like, I never get tired of Mr. Ahn’s antics or Mr. Nam’s quirks.
Also finished **A Killer Paradox** which had very clever, interesting cinematography and good acting. Not my fave but not bad either.
Started season 2 of **Warrior.** I like Ah Sahm, but dang he’s so reckless! Also, the intro for this show is flawless, no skips ever.
I’m wanting to be obsessed with a new show but haven’t found anything yet.
Just a suggestio.. if you haven't watched Chief Kim..make sure to give it a try if you have liked Vincenzo. It's from the same makers but less serious and equally fun!
**Marry My Husband** \- The end felt a bit rushed (Yu Ra getting into a car accident to tie up Ji Hyuk's car accident...), but everyone ended up as and with who they should, so that was satisfying. Really enjoyed Su Min's hallucinating about Min Hwan in prison. It was a terrific way to show how far her delusions had gotten.
**Death's Game** \- Cleverly told with almost all of the characters woven well. In turns, darkly funny, then sad and horrific. GREAT cameos by excellent and beautiful actors.
**Doctor Slump** \[8/16\]: The first half has been okay-ish. I just saw the other day that the writer of this drama also wrote **My Roommate is a Gumiho** and realized no wonder why there is nothing extraordinary in this drama. I am watching this solely for Park Hyung-Sik and I adore his character so much! It's even more funny because I am watching **What Happens to My Family** as well and both Hyung-Sik and Yoon Park are brothers in that show who definitely don't share a nice bond. Anyways, hopefully the second half is not bad as well and watchable.
**Marry My Husband** \[15/16\]: I am yet to watch the last episode but so far I have liked the drama. Especially the character growth of Kang Ji-Won. The chemistry was great but I feel robbed because in this entire drama we have had only >!one kiss!!< Like why you play with us viewers like this omg? Otherwise, plot wise I felt the drama was way better than the WebToon. Can't wait to watch the last episode and witness >!Su-Min's downfall!<.
**My Country: The New Age** \[3/16\]: The episodes are so long, probably that's why I haven't been able to make much progress on this drama this month. I hope to finish this by the next month though. I love the characters so far, their stories and especially how they are interlinked to the real history. Also, as someone who has watched **Six Flying Dragons** and loved it so much, I can't wait to see this drama more especially Jang Hyuk as Bang Won because in my head only Yoo Ah-In can play Bang-Won so perfectly! Let's see how this one unfolds though!
**The Legend of the Blue Sea** \[11/20\]: I had started rewatching it last year but stopped it at the 5th episode and since the binge crew is watching it together I decided to pick my rewatch again. I love this drama so much for a reason. The characters, the vibe, everything was spot on. Deserves more love for sure!
**What Happens to My Family** \[6/53\]: I have a long way to go with this drama but I am glad about all the progress that I have made so far. It's a sweet drama. The depiction of family is so relatable and honestly I can understand where each and every one of them are coming from. As of now all the story arcs have been decent, plus I love the cast. So glad to see my baby boy Seo Kang-Joon in this drama, will probably finally watch **When the Weather is Fine** soon!
I have yet to watch **Six Flying Dragons**, but I can assure you that Jang Hyuk does a fantastique job as Bang Won. I feel like, from all the characters in that drama, I'm most likely to remember his character in the long run, than any other. I will always remember his unwavering personality and how impressed I was at all his scenes with his many beautiful fans. I will watch **Six Flying Dragons** maybe next month or in April, I needed a tiny break from such an emotional drama, but I'm sure that I will also enjoy Yoo Ah In and it will be hard to pick a favorite between both of them. :)

Ohhh so that is why I feel like there is nothing special in this drama. I'm 100% also only watching it because of Park Hyung Sik, if he wasn't the lead, I would have dropped this long ago. I also don't mind Park Shin Hye in this specific role, but she definitely doesn't make me stick with this.
Oh I definitely do not doubt Jang Hyuk’s capabilities because I know the man can pull off anything. It’s just that Yoo Ah In played Bang Won so well that it will be very hard to see any other actor play it again. He left a long lasting impact on me. Plus he won the Baeksang Award for Best Actor for that drama and he absolutely deserved it more than anyone else. I am sure you will also end up loving him more! <3

Yeaaa **My Roommate Was A Gumiho** never left a big impression on me and I definitely have the same feeling with **Doctor Slump**, it's an easy watch but extremely predictable. When I feel like this, I ask myself if I changed the lead actors would this be interesting? And my answer is no, it's the type of drama that I'm clearly consuming only because of the leads. In both cases I felt that way. But yea we are in the minority of people feeling this way. xD
Well SFD definitely is emotionally heavy as you get to see the different emotions each and every character is going through in this journey of the history changing from Goryeo to Joseon. So I would suggest you watch this after some time especially if you are currently only looking for dramas that are light hearted to watch. You mah feel emotionally overwhelmed if you pick SFD now. But I genuinely do hope you enjoy watching it because it’s absolutely one of my all time fav dramas!
I feel like I will definitely enjoy it. I just had to take some time to recover from it, but I loved My Country. And I got so invested in that setting that I plan to watch Six Flying Dragons and Tree With Deep Roots too.
I think My Country also became one of my favorites, so I'm expecting that Six Flying Dragons also turns out to be one of my favorites and with Yoo Ah In, that is easy. The only actor that I'm afraid I won't like watching their scenes is Shin Sae Kyeong. But I read that in this drama she did a good job, so I'm hoping she doesn't annoy me like she always does ahahah
The Producers 2015. Two episodes in and not finding it riveting so not sure with carrying on with it. Just hanging in for the cameo from Jang Hyuk then we will see. 💖
There is only one drama I watched some episodes this week
**Rookie Historian** 8/20 : I thought since it was a historical drama, it was happening in the medieval times or something, so I was extremely shocked when they mentionned it was ~1820! That's almost Victorian era, and like, 50 years after the current Outlander time. I was a bit mindblown to compare the korean society to what was happening in the west at the same time.
I haven't watched any new episodes of dramas for personal reasons so I'm at the same episodes for:

The first 20 episodes were a bit boring and going in circles. I was a bit frustrated to watch it as I felt nothing was happening, but once Hyosim starts to stand up for herself, it became quite good! It's late entertainment, but if I had to watch it again, I'd definitely skip half of the first episodes
Much like everyone else I’ve been watching Marry My Husband! I was pleasantly surprised to see that it’s #2 streaming show on prime in the US! It’s definitely not the best drama I’ve seen but it’s fun, and hopefully it gets more people interested and watching more K Dramas because there are soooo many gems out there.
**Love Song for Illusion** This has been my 'junk food' watch because the amount of enjoyment I get from it (very high) is completely disproportionate to its quality (uhhh). I wrote previously in its on-air thread that this drama is like watching the SparkNotes version of a 50 episode wuxia drama and this latest episode just 100% reinforces that feeling. I'm enjoying myself so much (maybe a little too much) 'writing out' in my mind all the "missing" episodes as the drama bulldozes from plot point to plot point. I can't in good conscience recommend it as a good drama but dear kdrama gods am I having so much fun watching it.
**My Happy Ending** This drama has done something I personally feel is quite a feat in turning me from a revenge-hungry viewer to a viewer that desperately hopes for the FL (played by the fantastic Jang Nara) to have closure and solace by the end of the drama, revenge be damned. The drama has been such a journey and I don't know what the ending will bring.
**The Two Sisters** This daily is insane as it should be considering it is absolute makjang madness. I might give up on it if it gets to be too much but for now, it's been an interesting watch.

Would you recommend **My Happy Ending**? I keep seeing so many mixed reviews, but mostly people keep complaining about the drama.
However I read something that left me intrigued. It appears that the drama has the narration of an unreliable narrator this simple detail, leaves me so intrigued as it's definitely not something that I have seen before in dramas. But from the synopsis on MDL it looks like an average drama plot. I'm not sure if I should give this a chance or not. lol

The synopsis is a bit off in that it only captures the initial starting premise of the drama (and isn't entirely accurate at that) but the drama itself advances past that bit fairly quickly. Having finished ep 15, I'd say it's far from average in the sense that I haven't seen any other drama tackle a certain issue from this particular perspective/angle. Defining the issue is a clear spoiler in my opinion so I'm not defining it.
The unreliable narration stems directly from the issue and is used masterfully in my opinion -- the first half of the drama uses it as a device for story-telling in its thriller/revenge arc, while the second half reflects on the unreliable narration of the first half in a very emotional context that goes directly to who the FL is and everything about her life. Ep 15 was the pinnacle of the switch (assuming no scenes in ep 16 top it) and I'm honestly personally blown away by it.

I usually like thrillers and mystery, but they are always associated with crime or horror. I never pick the revenge type of dramas. I think I can count with one hand the dramas that had a revenge plot that I watched, and they were probably too light compared with My Happy Ending. lol
Your description of the drama makes it really interesting and I'm even more curious if the synopsis is a bit off from the overall story. I might give it a shot, it's really not my type of drama but the way it appears to be written it seems to be unique in way that it peaks my curiosity. I'm so intrigued with that narration and why it happens.
Reporting back after finishing the finale just now. Can confirm the synopsis is way off in the sense that while it's the starting point of the drama, the bulk of the drama isn't really about the story the synopsis is suggesting.
It's basically a biographic melodrama about FL's journey where she undergoes a series of turmoils and struggles, part of which is thriller-esque and revenge-based.
With regards to the revenge arc when it comes to the FL played by Jang Nara, I'd honestly even hesitate to call it true revenge because she's really only seeking for justice to be mete out for wrongs committed by others (and mostly through legal means with some dramatic license). Not at all a case of self-given vigilante justice (which is what most kdramas have).

This one isn't really a thriller or mystery in the traditional sense. It is melodramatic and somewhat over the top, which is not your thing based on your tendency to praise more slice-of-life dramas (at least from comments I've remembered from you). I think I have you mentally classified as similar in taste to siani, and this would not be something I'd recommend to her.

I've been trying to think of a comparable drama and really coming up blank because despite the drama have many familiar elements and tropes, the way the entire story is put together is not something I've seen before. Anyways, I'm walking away very satisfied by the ending, slightly dehydrated from crying, and blown away by the drama.
I definitely kept an eye on this drama because of Jang Na Ra and Son Ho Jun reunion. But just like you described this drama is really out of my usual type of dramas. I love slice-of-life type of dramas, but I never go into those that are too melodramatic with a revenge plot. Which was the reason on why left until it finished to see what was really about, it does seem to have a unique way to tell the story which I find pleasing.
And I think you classified me right, I do tend to pick the same type of dramas as Siani, at least from what I noticed. I was actually surprised in the last KDC check-in because all of her dramas were the exact same I was planning to watch for the KDC. If you say she wouldn't enjoy this, something tells me I would probably not like it too. ahahah
I even checked the recommendations on MDL and from those I only watched **Flower of Evil** and **Go Back Couple**. Both of these dramas are extremely different from each other and the synopsis didn't seem to be similar to them either. Probably it's something really unique and it's hard to compare with others.
I was feeling a bit of a slump at the start of the year but this last month I've been more consistent getting into dramas:
**Welcome to Samdal-ri**\- 15/16 The family and friend relationships make the show but it has dragged at points.
**My Happy Ending** (14/16) This show is darker than more normal fare at this time of year honestly. Jang NaRa is killing it with her role and keeping you caring about her character when she's a very unreliable narrator at points. Not always an easy task. Sometimes the twists throw you but I'm looking forward to seeing how they tie it all up.
**Marry My Husband** \-completed. Loved the first twelve episodes, think the Boa character would've been stronger with a different actress but it was hard to top Song HaYoon. It was a big switch from her character in Fight My Way which was the only others of hers I remembered and she delivered.
**Flex X Cop** (6/16) - tried on a whim and am quite enjoying this. Very stylistic show with colors and vibe but also much better than I anticipated. It's a fun romp with hints of more underneath and I am happily on board so far.
**Sugar Sugar Honey** (3/10) Half hour Jdrama that is light and sweet, good for lunch hour breaks or a brain fried night.
Tried first episode of **Branding in Seongdu** and am a bit undecided whether to continue. The production is a bit lower than I anticipated from previews so it may have jarred me is all.
**Once upon a Small Town** (5/12) Might be too similar to Welcome to Samdal-ri for me. A struggle to finish episodes lately.
Contemplating starting **A Shop of Killers.**..missed if anyone here has watched it and thoughts.

I loved A Shop For Killers. Pretty nonstop action, very stylistic, LOTS of guns, lol. A couple twists that surprised me. Pretty violent so if you’re offended by that it wouldn’t be a good watch for you. I really developed a lot of empathy for the two main leads.
Thank you! Appreciate you sharing info and impressions. I don't mind action violence, if it gets pretty graphic/gory I'm not always so good but with the story premise here there has to be an expectation of fighting and other violence honestly.
I'm watching Death Game. I finished part 1 and need a mental health break from it. I just started Business Proposal which seems like a nice light and fun kdrama. I might throw MMH into the mix too
Knight Flower 9/12: This drama is soooo good. Enjoying every moment of it. This is my first drama of Lee Hanee and she has just nailed it so far whether its comedy or action. Going to checkout her other shows.
Marry my Husband 14/16: This drama was going quite good but somewhere around the 11th or 12th episode it started going downhill. Should have been a 12 episode series, it would have been more enjoyable.
I just finished Marry My Husband - It is a fun and romantic revenge drama. The villains are people you love to hate.
Backstreet Rookie - I was going to start My Demon but this one appealed to me. Like the characters so far.
The Killing Vote - the first episode was pretty dark but I am excited to see where it goes. About a rogue anonymous vigilante who sends texts to vote if a criminal should die.
Doctor Slump - a nice comfort show about high school rivals who reunite years later. They become unlikely friends who lean on each other. It is a bit slow but love the leads. And there is some silliness and misunderstandings
Of course, Captivating the King and Dr Slump but I'm letting a few episodes build up. Meanwhile Mr Sunshine. How did I miss this one? So many handsome actors!
Just build in a little recovery time and have plenty of tissues and some eye masks on hand. 😭
I felt the ending was appropriate to the story, though the treatment of one of those handsome actors in particular still rankles.
Well, “sad endings” is right there in the show’s tag line… But I still sobbed for hours. Even in that context, I really hated >!Hee-sung’s fate. So sudden and brutal. No heroism or ghostly acknowledgment.!<

I'm enjoying Dr Slump at the moment and Flex X Cop. Both are easy watching. Waiting for the last two episodes of My Happy Ending. Just started My Man is Cupid.
In a slump but have 2 episodes of **Doctor Slump** to catch up on (love it), unsuccessfully tried a few episodes of **Extraordinary You** (premise is great but I find something a bit lacklustre, I'm probably getting too old for high school stuff), and started **Love All Play** which I'm enjoying a lot even though it's unexpectedly heavy and melo but I guess I'm in the mood for it!
I think Knight Flower stands out for me ,Honey Lee has really made this show a joy to watch she is so funny. The age gap with ML is a bit much but otherwise great show with a very understated Villian but the FIL was well played also his henchman is my Favorite baddie too.

- **Marry My Husband:** if it wasn't for a couple of atrocious eps, 13 and 14, this could have been a legitimately great drama. It's still enjoyable, the revenge is well designed and comes to a satisfying end in many facets, romance is better later on as the chemistry between the leads improves steadily. PMY is her stunning, ethereal self, with more spirit and fight than usual, ML does the job, a nice secondary or two. A bit of a missed opportunity, not bad nor surprising on its genre, a 7.5
A JDorama to add too in **Elpis**, a thriller about journalism, power and the never-ending fight fo truth and justice. Nice story, inspired by real events, great leads, quick pacing, entertaining, also a 7.5

- **Flex X Cop (6/16):** a week worth waiting, the ML is finally bonding with the team, cases are fun and easy to follow, banter is A+, they are really investing a lot of time in character development and I'm all for it. Best on-air drama I'm currently following, sadly overlooked, deserves a chance 100%;
- **Live Your Own Life (43/50+):** just give my a decent finale on major storylines and put me out of my misery, I can't with all the nonsense anymore;
- **Queen of Divorce (7/12):** strangely enough I'm feeling the romance part more than the revenge; the latter is too cookie cutter and foreseen while the former has tension, better construction and more emotions to it. Glad the ML is showing up nicely, proving he does fits the bill as a lead. Not bad even if there's nothing amazing jumping out.
On the lookout for **Wedding Impossible** and a couple other binges in due time.
**Queen of Divorce** \- 6/12 - I haven't seen the new episodes yet, but I'm really enjoying how fast paced everything is, even though SO MUCH GOES ON and I really gotta pay attention. I want her husband to get his comeuppance so bad, omg. I really did expect something lighter, but they do have some decent comedy spots that don't have this be the most depressing show ever.
**May I Help You** \- 14/16 - I'm so mad about the tonal shift in this show >!and the cop reveal. Adding in all that trauma with his backstory and then having him do the exact thing his father did has infuriated me beyond belief. Especially like.. you can't come back from that? Like what happened to the healing drama this should've been? I would've rather it be revealed that the cop knew about the ML and his brother and that he'd been hiding THAT while also spending time around them, feeling guilty, and like.. helping them, versus what the hell we got. Also the FL is so rude? Like I can't stop thinking about the scene where she mocks the cop for crying a lot post reveal to the ML about the brothers and it's framed that it's meant to make the ML feel better? When she really just looks like an asshole. !!when I already know about the FL's dad.!< Yes, I needed to get that vent out.
Also, I find the plot really flimsy >!with that reveal of the cop and how they decided to realize things were wrong because she saw the brother in the afterlife and "omg someone who murders someone won't be going to heaven like that murder suicide case in the last episode" ????? He didn't INTENTIONALLY MOW DOWN THE CHILD. Neither did the cop, mind you. These were not intentional like the murder suicide case and I think it's beyond screwed to equate the two. The kid stopped in the middle of the street in the dark and in the rain. The drunk driving really takes it over the top, but it's just so lame. Add in the fact that they're like, oh he took this picture from the passenger seat! So he wasn't driving! IT WAS AN HOUR BEFORE THE ACCIDENT, HOW WOULD THIS PROVE ANYTHING.!<
**Nana Tour with Seventeen** \- 6/6 - in better news, this was healing in ways I didn't know that I needed and I would recommend it to anyone who doesn't even know kpop/Seventeen because it was so heartwarming to see them together and experiencing such new things and loving their lives. Plus they're funny. Only downside is it isn't OT13, but maybe if they somehow wrangle out a S2 before enlistment.. a girl can dream.
I've finished Designated Survivor: 60 Days. What a brilliant political thriller. Something like a mix of a serious Yes, Prime Minister and Vagabond. Nice characters (one character's motivation at the end is quite enigmatic and unclear to me, I will probably play those explanatory scenes again). Great soundtrack. The original American version doesn't seem that interesting to me, but it has more seasons, so I don't know if I should give it a try, maybe I will some day.
**Doctor Slump** (8/16) - My favorite airing drama.
**Jealousy Incarnate** (23/24) - Ooh! Love triangles and interesting living arrangement. Love Jo Jung Suk. **Captivating the King** is on my watchlist.
**Welcome to Samdal ri** (16/16). This did get better towards the end as others had advised. I just wish it had happened earlier. I was happy to see my *Healer* peeps again and enjoyed some of the actors. I just couldn't get behind the lead couple.
**Youth of May** (2/12) Only two episodes in, but I'm enjoying this so far. Unsure about the ML yet. I'm not familiar with him and he seems a bit wooden.
The lead couple kinda felt strange to me. They seemed like they were still in college but they are actually in their 30s.
Also, was it just me or was the >!”I approve of you and I don’t hate your family anymore!!”!< felt really sudden and strange?? I mean we go 14 episodes of the dad >!hating!< them and then all the sudden it changes?
Weirdly enough I actually like this drama more than HTCCC.
It's been a long time since I've seen HTCCC and it was one of my earliest kdramas, so my thoughts about it might differ today.
The dad's change of heart was a very long time coming. Too long, I thought, so I didn't think it was that sudden. It seemed like his memories of her friendships finally made him want to take that step.
Marry my husband- loved the acting loved the story but I always have issue with the 2 main characters (not the actors just the characters) overall it's a fun watch and I'm enjoying it. On eps 14
Doctor slump- super fun and I think everyone's acting is great the brother and mom especially I really liked. Huge roller coaster of a drama so far though. On eps 8
Mr queen- also hilarious and fun. Love the main character still alot of story left. Great job of not revealing everything from the start. On eps 7
Also finally watching Mr Queen, on eps 3. I don't have a great track record with historical era shows but fun so far.
Goblin - I'm still recovering from just finishing it. Age difference was a bit of a struggle at times, but I got over it. Less interested in the second leads' romance, but the bromance was top notch! I was already convinced by Gong Yoo in Coffee Prince, but he really is a very handsome man and fantastic actor. I get why the wave of folks who only "discovered" him in Squid Game all wouldn't mind getting slapped by him 🤣
*A Killer Paradox* - this one messed my brain up, every scene I was like Uhhh HUHHHH!?? I found it amazing and disturbing at the same time. Nonetheless the plot is amazing, and the details in the sensory experience for the viewers was chefs kiss (ex: the gum chewing, and panting).
Why it disturbed me was that it made me question my morals at one point..
**Marry My Husband \[13/16\]** \- I have to admit, I was annoyed/confused when >!Yu Jihyuk suddenly wanted to break up with Kang Jiwon!<. I get where he is coming from but idk, something about his reasoning did not sit well with me. Just felt like one of those "let's break up now because something dramatic is about to happen and it will add to our romantic reunion that the audience never saw coming" kdrama moments. Also, I was dreading ep 12 based on the negative commentary I read. I did not mind the plot twists and I enjoyed ep 13, especially the ending scenes between Jung Sumin and Kang Jiwon. Emotional. Intense. Fiery.
I'm also watching/listening to ReesaTeesa's **Who TF Did I Marry** story time series on TikTok since it's all over my fyp. I'm on part 23 out of 50. I listen while driving or cooking or folding laundry (pretty much any time I am not able to read kdrama subtitles). It has been entertaining and I am curious to see how much crazier it gets.
Just finished A Shop for Killers and it was fantastic. Led me to The Revenant, which is slow paced but great. Now I’m 5 episodes in to Captivating the King. The ML and FL leads have great chemistry and it’s avoiding the palace intrigue tropes I find annoying. Everyone’s motivations are so complicated. You do require a suspension of disbelief to handle anyone believing the gorgeous FL lead is a dude. But if you just go with it, this show is a lot of fun.
Binged on Stranger 1 and 2 and loved both. Now I believe why this show was recommended consistently by redditors for great thriller / suspense / prodedural with no romance but great chemistry, solid writing and acting for both main and supporting cast. I've never been so hooked and love the way they avoid the tropes - no wrist grabs or falls or trucks of doom or memory loss .. yay!! Just red herrings galore and a painful plot twist in Season 1. Love the ML and FL abd how they are complement each other professionally and personally so effortlessly. Their acting together at the same high level. Would love to see a Season 3.
Now watching Divorce Attorney Shin for a totally different take on the ML. Will watch Matrimonial Chaos for the FL as well.
I just finished Marry my husband. It was ok. I felt it dragged last few episodes. They should have wrapped by 12 eps.male lead's gf was used to swap ml fate. Writers should have used someone more interesting. Heroine's crazy friend was beautifully crazy , introducing another wacko crazy made no sense. Felt shoddy writing. For me the actress playing soomin was the best in this series.

I’m mostly been watching the longer dramas and older dramas, none of the newer dramas have caught my interest, so I haven’t been watching any of them. Also waiting for a dvd I bought “You are my destiny “ which is Im Yoona’s very first drama, she was only 18 years old.
**Captivating the King -** I love this drama! Everything about it is wonderful! The scenery, the music, but most of all Jo Jung Suk. He is amazing as a King. This actor can do everything! (And play guitar and sing It's My Life!) His sense of presence as a conflicted, angsty, but strong king is wonderful. Of course, like all of the "girl dressed as a guy" saeguks, we have the Clark Kent syndrome here. Contrary to what JJS said in an interview, there is no way that this king didn't know right away that this is a woman. But other than that, it's done so well. I binged it this past week. I hope the last episodes wrap things up well. The FL's character is a little wishy-washy, but I'm sticking with this to see what happens. **Marry My Husband -** I had binged this the week before, so now I'm finishing it. I have 2 more episodes, so I'll finish tomorrow. I enjoyed this, although not so much episode 14. But I think the last two episodes will be good. I think Park Min Young redeemed herself from the last couple of dramas that were luke-warm (for me). This drama has been engaging and her acting is really good. The villains are so wonderfully bad. **My Roommate is a Gumiho -** Rewatching this with my zoom friend. We only have time for one episode a week, so it's slow, but she's enjoying it and I love this. It's lighter and perfect roles for Jang Ki Yang and Kung Han-na. I want to watch **Dr. Slump** and **Like Flowers in Sand** before the March dramas come out. Looking forward to **Queen of Tears.**

Your review of Captivating the King has convinced me to watch it. I love Jo Jung Suk so much because he's just so perfect at whatever he plays. But in my mind he is engraved as Ik Joon forever now. The impact he has had with that drama on me in insane. Anyways will check it out soon, thanks! Also, as someone who did not enjoy My Roommate is a Gumiho much, I adore Kang Han Na so much in that drama, I cannot dislike her despite her playing the antagonist role in Scarlet Heart so brilliantly. Meanwhile it is the opposite with Shin Hye Sun, her unbearable character from Legend of the Blue Sea never leaves my mind despite her being so brilliant at her job. Ooof.
I know we have enjoyed many of the same dramas. Yes, Jo Jung Suk is indeed perfect. I first saw him in King 2 Hearts and I think he was brilliant in that one. Ik Jun was a wonderful character. I often wonder how actors choose the roles that they accept. I'm sure it's a process, and he's so versatile and can play silly, serious, emotional, angsty, and strong. And then he can go play Hedwig. I would travel to Korea to see him do Hedwig. And if you haven't seen the movie with D.O. and LSJ go ahead and watch it. (My Annoying Brother). JJS plays a completly different character - an ex-con!
Yes I have watched that movie (oh how can I ever miss any drama or movie with my first ever bias DO, love of my life!) and I have genuinely adored their bond in that movie. Both DO and JJS were amazing in that movie!

Yes I agree she’s done so many fantastic dramas after LOTBS but I cannot for the life of me like her despite knowing and appreciating her craft. To each their own I guess.
Girl I understand! Song Ya-Hoon was so incredible despicable as a villain in Marry My Husband that I don’t think I’ll ever like her in any drama!
For a second, I had been doubting Park Min Young after two back to back duds (FLAW, Love in Contract) - but wow, **Marry My Husband** was such a fun ride!! I didn’t have an issue with the >!additional FL!< at episode 12 that annoyed a lot of people - that extra plot was actually necessary bc it turned up the heat on Su Min and Mi Hwan and those actors NAILED it. Song Ha Yoon’s portrayal was incredible - so many little moments where she was pitch perfect - her moments of overconfidence, the >!scary smile underwater!<, her lying when cornered…I feel like it was a truly masterful award worthy performance. And I didn’t expect how scary good Lee Yi Kyung was going to be - I only know his comedic side but he was fantastic. >!I am so glad the writer didn’t follow the formula of any redemption for them either.!< They went to town on those roles - good for them! All in all a great crowd pleaser of a revenge fantasy romance - the fan service at the end was so fun. I think this would be a perfect drama to use as an introduction for someone wanting to dip their toe into kdrama - tons of tropes done very well, fast paced story, top notch acting, sweet satisfying ending. I was wondering how it would stack up to Perfect Marriage Revenge which *just* ended, but they pulled it off amazingly well - both were great but MMY takes it by a nose
**Doctor Slump** (8/16): Love the way the drama is developing, and how the second half of the series is wide open with refreshing possibilities. Episode 7 unexpectedly resolved the >!mystery!< subplot in a swift and decisive manner, while episode 8 demonstrated that the leads have a lot to work through in their lives. **Happiness** (4/12): A double dose of Park Hyung-sik. He’s great in this as Yi-hyun, even though Han Hyo-joo as the badass, charismatic and cool Sae-bom tends to steal the spotlight. The theme of a post-COVID pandemic set in an apartment complex is topical, interesting, and takes me back to those challenging times in 2020.
Happiness has legit been one of my favourite watches in the monster genre. Not a show I would enjoy but this was well done with such fleshed out characters with the most natural romantic developments.
PHS in Happiness is one of my favorite performances of his. That character is so amazing because of him.
Regarding Doctor Slump, I agree. It's really interesting how the plot is so open ended right now. I too was suprised at how the mystery storyline was summarily resolved. I am struggling to think of another kdrama that did something similar. It is refreshing in that it will be something new, I just hope that the next plotline is entertaining to keep my interest for the second half of the show. I watched Happiness for the first time last month. It was fun, if a little unbelievable at points, but worth watching through to the end. Sae Bom is a great character. The second half doesn't quite live up to the first, but again, it's worth the watch.

Tale of the Nine Tailed 1938, it’s so good and made up for the first season that I didn’t particularly like. The 3 main leads are such a joy to watch. I didn’t expect there to be so much comedy and so it really helped me cope with my negative emotions lately during this time of the year. I’m going to miss this drama when I finish it.
I don't why but I had dropped this drama last year on 2nd episode. Guess it's my cue to pick it up again this year!

Can I watch this without watching first season? Will it make sense? I have tried watching first season about 3 times but I just can’t get into it. However I really like Lee Dong Wook (Just watched Shop for Killers and loved it) and am always up for more of his work.

**Flex X Cop**. Not a lot of people are watching this. The premise is kinda dumb but unironically the show kinda slaps. You go in expecting a mid show that's funny and, the more you watch, the more you think to yourself: "Wait, why is this actually GOOD? It has no right to be this good yet...it IS?"

I got stuck on it while looking for dramas to watch while waiting for Captivating the King. It's excellent writing with a nice balance of comedy and angst. I love the depth of the ML's character and the chemistry between his teammates as the temperature goes from icy to slow thaw. A bit predictable here and there but not overly dependent on tropes. Now am impatiently waiting for the rest of the episodes to land..

Except for Doctor Slump nothing has piqued my interest. And even Doctor Slump is at the crucial point of the second half conundrum cause almost every recent drama seems to go downhill after ep 8. And so I've started my half yearly ritual of rewatching CLOY. It's amazing how a good show becomes great because of exceptional chemistry. Their love story is still giving me the same butterflies and I strongly believe that Hyun Bin and Son Yejin gradually fell for each other during the show lol.
I love CLOY and just saw that the same writer also wrote Legend of the Blue Sea (currently binging and enjoying), AND **Queen of Tears**. I’ve got high hopes because I am truly enjoying how well written LOTBS is (as was CLOY).
I'm also waiting for Queen of Tears for the same reason. The writer writes some really good romance. Have you watched her work "My Love from Another Star"?

I don't know if this helps, but I’ve enjoyed getting into more K films recently. Some of the writing is really great, and of course shorter times.
**Her Private Life 16/16:** Ryan Gold man…. Truly a drama that should have ended at episode 12. The last four episodes are the most insane 180 I’ve ever seen, not a single thing revealed was needed. It almost ruined the show for me. I wanted more fangirling and fluff not whatever that was. The chemistry between the leads was so amazing and natural, that I can’t help but still love the drama overall. But those last few episodes were rough to get through. 8/10 **Dali and the Cocky Prince 4/17:** An interesting start. The word “quirky” comes to mind with this show, it feels different from anything else I’ve seen before. Even the editing style and transitions are new for me. I’m not hooked just yet though, I do find it a bit confusing, and the leads aren’t doing much for me. But there’s potential, we’ll see if I end up dropping this one.
Just finished **Flower of Evil**, feel betrayed by the late >!mother f-ing amnesia plot twist to sidestep any attempt at a rational ending.!< Going to watch romcoms for a while to rest my brain. Enjoying **Doctor Slump** and **The Tale of Nokdu** very much.
OMG The Tale of Nokdu gets really dark in the second half, hope you enjoy it regardless cuz it’s one of my favs!

FOE's ending is the reason I have Kdrama trust issues and check all drama endings with recaps now. It gets recced as a drama with a happy, satisfying ending and IMO it's anything but.
I don’t mind most troupes in kdramas, even find them funny, but the >!amnesia!< is really starting to piss me off. It gets used as often as the White Truck of Doom, but is much more agonizing to clean up afterwards.
I liked Flowers of Evil, but I also pretend the Amnesia portion never happened. Ironically, I am forcing myself to lose memory of that plot element so I can appreciate the rest of the show which I found quite gripping.

**The Great Shaman Ga Doo Shim** 2021 (5/12) is a fun short drama (twelve 20-minute episodes) with good actors and an engaging story. Kim Sae Ron is good in this; it’s a shame her personal life torpedoed her career. Nam Da Reum is also good and I feel he is an actor to watch as he makes the transition from child to adult roles. The short format means that the story is bared down to essentials, which with good writing and cast is working out very well so far. **Ugly Alert** 2023 (130/133) I’m on the last minutes of this excellent series and will miss it when it’s over. This is for sure going in my top 5 long form dramas. I find that the long dramas I like best have a stable central romance. This type of drama invariably has many characters, and when the central relationship isn’t solid, everything else feels too chaotic. **My Fellow Citizens!** 2019 (31/36 episodes) ML Choi Siwon and FL Lee Yoo Young have absolute zero chemistry, which spoils much of the fun in this otherwise zingy drama. Kim Min Jung as the villain with the sexy wiggle walk is much more interesting. A con man hides his real job as a criminal from his police detective wife and is blackmailed by a loan shark into running for political office. Either lead, without the romance, could have carried a non-romance drama alone. Together they are less than either is alone. 1 + 1 = 0.7 **Marry My Husband** 2024 (15/16 episodes) Loved it from start to finish. Was expecting a cutesy PMY star vehicle but pleasantly surprised! PMY was unglamorous, then serious and mean. The villains were brilliantly acted - both Lee Yi Kyung and Song Ha Yoon deserve much credit for excellent performances as villains we love to hate yet have smoking hot chemistry and we want to see more of.
**Doctor Slump** - Really loving this one it's so wholesome makes you feel all the feels I am invested in the characters and how I absolutely love their chemistry and how they have balanced the story arc realistically while showing mental health issues. **Dali and the Cocky Prince** - Just started this one it's giving chaotic cute romcom vibes loving it and the ML and FL are so opposite it's hilariously cute. PS- Can't wait for **Queen of Tears**

I had been in a Kdrama slump for over a month now. Rewatched few of my favorite ones and then decided to watch **"Perfect Marriage Revenge"** just to get ready for Marry My Husband as the later just finished airing. The first ep was meh. Husband falling for the sister was a little too Makjang for me. But oh boy, the second episode got me hooked and how. This drama has that perfect mix of fluff and makjang. It's my first drama starring Sung Hoon and let me say, he is a beautiful man, like the ones who make you feel kilig just by their visuals. But, I admit, his acting is not that great- appears wooden in many scenes. Most of the female actors are quite new to me but they run the show. I am halfway through and really dont want to see this ending. The production quality is not at par with the other kdramas, but it doesn't affect the experience as the script doesn't meandre much. 12 episode is the perfect length. I cant wait to see how she takes revenge. I will be following this with MMH and by then, Queen of tears would be out. P.S: Penthouse actors are really great at emoting through their eyes, though! Ji Jin-hee was exceptional. Btw, Lee Min Young, FL's step mom has a little resemblance to Kim So-yeon of Penthouse in terms of styling!
Sung Hoon is such an eye candy (watched a number of bad/average dramas for him!), but his acting is inspired by a piece of wood, from debut til now, bless him.
AGREE. I watched a couple more episodes and I am already tired of him. I also dont like his voice. I think I wont be watching any more dramas featuring him. He would make a great fashion model, but definitely not a good actor. Very bland. All his expressions are just the same. He just uses his eyebrows to show he is sad or angry. That's it. After watching him, my respect for Hwang Minhyun (Seo yul of Alchemy of Souls) just increased a bit, lol.
He actually has modeled before in a terrible outfit back when he was a newbie. They show the clip to make fun of him all the time on I Live Alone.
I'm a bit behind on currently airing dramas, thanks to grad school and a full time job. Thankfully I don't have as many currently airing dramas as December (I miss them all though). **Doctor Slump** (6/16) - I am just really, really loving this drama. Park Shin Hye and Park Hyung Shik have wonderful chemistry. The comedic timing is always perfect, and it's just a drama that makes me happy to watch (even if it is dealing with mental health). I'm liking that the story is really revolving around Ha Neul and Jeong Woo's relationship and having the career be the b plot. I haven't watched eps 7/8 yet but I did see some spoilers, I hope the >!breakup!< is dealt with soon because I want my >!happy couple!< back. **Flex x Cop** (6/16) - This is one I had no expectations for going in and I'm really enjoying it! I like how all the characters are interacting and the charcter growth, it's fun and reminds me a bit of an American comedy procedural like Castle or Lucifer, which are always great. **Captivating the King** (3/16) - I just started this one and I can already tell I'm in for a suspenseful, emotional ride. I'm tempted to wait until it's over to see how it ends, but I don't think I can wait. **Marry My Husband** (10/16) - I seem to be one of the few people who enjoyed the webtoon more than the drama, which is probably why I'm stuck on episode 10. I do enjoy some of the changes, but others take away from the story in big ways, which is why I think I'm not loving it. I do love PMY in this role, and the actress playing Sumin is nailing every bit of crazy. **Strong Woman Bong Soon** (6/16) - Slowly watching this classic for the first time with family, and it's really funny. The >!kidnapping!< plot is way more brutal than I expected, but I am liking the comedy a lot. **My Lovely Liar** (4/16) - This one has been cute so far, no strong feelings but it's keeping my interest, which is always good! I have a lot of other dramas I've started but just can't finish. **A Good Day To Be A Dog** (10/16) has started to bore me with the >!Mountain God's annoying backstory!<. I also haven't finished **Run On** (10/16) and **Because This Is My First Life** (6/16) because the ML's in both are too robotic and just... have no personality. I've also had **Hidden Love** (19/25) paused since December, and I can't bring myself to finish it, unfortunately.
ML's personality in BTIMFL is going to get better. Many people believe that his character is in Autism spectrum, hence he behaves so.
I also agree that **Because This Is My First Life**, does get way better and it ended up being a fantastique drama. However I don't think the male lead is autistic, his personality feels like a stoic one. Which also explains why he he has such an hard time expressing his emotions and why we see such a deep improvement by the end of the drama.
I really didn’t like A Good Day to be a Dog from episode 10 onwards. The mountain god storyline was written poorly and it just kind of made the remaining episodes boring.
I agree that the kdrama Marry My Husband doesn't quite deliver like the webtoon. Also, eps 10-13, felt difficult to watch. I hate to say it, but the director/writer didn't use those minutes well. The show went from a 9/10 to 8/10 imo. I know it's a common critique, but maybe this should have been 12 episodes instead of 16? or maybe 14?
Just finished The story of Park’s Marriage Contract! It was a ride!!! I wish it had more episodes tho and a better ending. It was a Happy ending but it felt rush. I wished we had more of how they lived their life after they got back together.

I enjoyed **Welcome to Samdal-ri** a lot, but if you are feeling a deja-vu kind of feeling, I would advice you to leave it on hold and return to it when you are in that exact mood for a drama set in a seaside village with amazing neighbors and an amazing support system to their younger generations. It's a really good drama, but if you are feeling a deja-vu it means that the memory of something else is still very fresh in your mind. Probably **Our Blues** or **Hometown Cha Cha Cha**, they are all very similar concepts. This is the type of dramas that you can't watch one after the other or they start blending with each other. Also **Under The Queen's Umbrella** is a fantastique drama and I hope you enjoy it. The more that I tried to look for something similar to it, I couldn't find anything. This is a drama that is extremely unique and the two character that I still remember so vividly today, are Kim Hye Soo and her scenes with Yoo Sun Ho. They are all amazing actors, but those scenes stayed in my heart.

I felt the same way about Samdal-Ri after the first episode so I watched it slowly and inbetween other things, and found it grew on me immensely, especially toward the second half. That being said, I haven't seen Hometown Cha Cha Cha or our Blues or the others that it's often compared to so take that for what you will.
I would put Our Blues well ahead, HCCC next, and Samdal last.

I agree, would add that Blues addresses a lot of sad contemporary issues in heart warming ways, while Samdal is more silly (I will NEVER get over the feuding auntie biker gangs, lol)

I just finished **Welcome to Samdal-ri** and it's probably going to end up being in my bottom 10. It picked up towards the end for me, but that wasn't enough. You already have a head start in that you like the lead actors. I liked the ML in Healer but wasn't familiar with the FL at all. I ended up not really liking them in this one.
Completed: **Marry My Husband** — Solid ending. Not rushed, cohesive, completion made sense. The overall story was great, acting was phenomenal, chemistry good. Still didn’t like the introduction of the fiancée – it felt very unnecessary – but still excellent drama. **Ready, Set, Love** — Thailand — This was cute! Corny as heck but super cute! It’s funny, sweet and short. It also looks to be setting up a season 2 which I would fully be on board with. The one interesting thing is the gendered language and honorifics. I can’t pick up Thai well at all – I struggle a lot – so I know I missed a lot of the nuisance (and Netflix translations so…) but they definitely used the gendered honorifics/speech in interesting ways in the script. **The King: Eternal Monarch** — I had been meaning to watch this for a while. Glad I waited. This is not a Kdrama beginner friendly drama at all. If you don’t know Kdramas and their tropes/storytelling methods it’s going to be confusing and/or seem like crappy story telling I think. I personally didn’t find the story confusing as I like these types of stories though I do think it would have been better as a 20 episode drama. I also liked the ending, which a lot of people don’t. I think it fit perfectly with the world building and universe rules and was not just the most logical but also a decent one. Not sure why it gets hated on. Watching: **Between Him and Her** — (8/10) — Honestly over this one but might as well finish it up. They are totally going to get back together. Which is fine. But the story to get there has circled the drain a bit. **Doctor Slump** — (8/16) — The leads are ridiculous but have such cute chemistry and it’s super enjoyable. This healthy approach to mental health issues. Good job dramas dragging everyone into thinking about mental health as a real issue. And how is Park Hyung Sik so good as these goofy, endearing, sweet male leads? Dude has a talent for this character type that few others are any good at. **Queen of Divorce** — (6/12) — I have enjoyed this one. The ML is crazy supportive despite the twists and villains. Like no doubt in his mind. Very nice to watch. **Memories of the Alhambra** — (5/16) — The premise for this is fascinating. I have been meaning to watch it for a while but haven’t gotten around to it for various reasons. I saw this on a recommendation post – as well as suggested by Netflix - and I was hunting for a new one to watch after finishing up The King: Eternal Monarch so figured why not. So far the story has sucked me in. **Although I Love You, and You? or Sukiyanen Kedo Do Yaro ka** — (6/10) — Japan BL — Another typical Japanese BL. It's fine. Not a must watch but decent and cute. Hopefully they get their stuff figured out. **Perfect Propose or Paafekuto Puropoozu** — (4/6) — Japan BL — It’s been called a mix of My Personal Weatherman and Old Fashioned Cupcake and it is. There’s food and a cute couple that needs to figure themselves out. Much better than Although I love you, and you. **A Killer Paradox** — (3/8) — Still haven’t continued on this. Might or might not finish it. This is not the drama I anticipated.
Ready, Set, Love surprised me, the productions values are much higher than anything else I've seen from Thailand and it was solidly entertaining. My main gripe with it is it didn't fully exploit the concept of a world ruled by women where men are an endangered species and fetish objects to be controlled and exploited by the wealthy. It was a missed opportunity imo. (I also find Thai very difficult to pick up, I've learned a lot of words and formality levels in Korean and Japanese just from drama watching but Thai is a beast)
I am not alone then with Thai! Japanese and Korean I understand - Korean to the point I am actually learning the language because I picked up enough of it (ha!) Heck I even understand some Mandarin- though a lot less than Japanese. Thai? Nope. Other than the honorifics and an occasional word here and there I just don’t get it. I would have thought I had at least gotten the swear words by now but nope. Mad respect to Thai speakers. Anyhow, yes the production value also surprised me! They did well with that that. From the trailer I totally expected some deeply misogynistic drama but it was absolutely the opposite - though with many issues still needing explored. There was a lot left out. I sincerely hope we get a season 2 and a chance to see this. I have to admit I wonder what a Japanese or Korean remake would look like. There’s a lot of potential for societal commentary with this concept.

Like Flowers in Sand (7 or 8?/12): Still really enjoying this! Baek-du and Du-Shia are both fantastic characters. The slowly developing romance warms your heart on a cold winter’s day. Also, the town mystery is compelling. I’m savoring this drama! Legend of the Blue Sea (8/20): I was watching for the binge but I got derailed by traveling. Now, I don’t think I can catch up and I might drop it as I remember thinking the first third of the drama was the best part. But I’m loving reading the discussions!
Kdramas: **Marry My Husband:** this was well written and hella fun up to episode 12 when the truck of doom jumped the shark. I watched the last four episodes purely to enjoy the fandom response to the cracked out plot developments. Definitely entertaining but fell off drastically in the end. Special shoutout to the actors who played Sumin and Minhwan, they were the MVPs. **A Shop for Killers:** Just started this one, nice to see Lee Dong Wook as an uncle who also appears to be >!mixed up with assasins!< (I think, we'll see how the story progresses). The drama starts with an intense action sequence and the actress who plays LDW's niece is very good. Everything else: **Cherry Magic (Thailand):** A remake of a Japanese BL that is nowhere near as good as the original but I'll finish this one since we're close to the end and I want to see how it all turns out. **Wake Up Ladies (Thailand)**: an older drama that's kind of like Sex and the City where four female friends and their gay male mentor navigate relationships. It's cute and very Thai. **Never Too Late (China):** I've been very slowly making my way through this one. It's a slice of life drama about the friendship between 30 and 60 year old women who are rebooting their lives after divorce and job loss. It's a very sweet drama but I'm taking my time with it since it's 33 episodes long and it's not a hard driving plot. **Long Vacation (Japan):** An aging and chaotic model gets dumped on her wedding day and moves into the apartment that her former fiance shared with a classical pianist struggling with his career. It's a slow burn romance between two very different people and incredibly charming. **Saigo Kara Nibanme no Koi (Japan):** A 45 year old drama writer buys a house in a seaside town south of Tokyo. Her next door neighbor is a 50 year old widower single parenting his daughter and living with his sister and her adult kids. They both grapple with getting older and daring to hope for a second chance at love. Very sweet slice of life.

I’m watching: **Captivating the King** real slowly. I can only watch one episode at a time, but Jung Jo Suk is stellar. What a star. Rewatching my comfort show **Vincenzo**. It’s so funny. There’s so much chemistry between the entire cast and so many of the actors have excellent comedic chops. Like, I never get tired of Mr. Ahn’s antics or Mr. Nam’s quirks. Also finished **A Killer Paradox** which had very clever, interesting cinematography and good acting. Not my fave but not bad either. Started season 2 of **Warrior.** I like Ah Sahm, but dang he’s so reckless! Also, the intro for this show is flawless, no skips ever. I’m wanting to be obsessed with a new show but haven’t found anything yet.
Just a suggestio.. if you haven't watched Chief Kim..make sure to give it a try if you have liked Vincenzo. It's from the same makers but less serious and equally fun!

**Marry My Husband** \- The end felt a bit rushed (Yu Ra getting into a car accident to tie up Ji Hyuk's car accident...), but everyone ended up as and with who they should, so that was satisfying. Really enjoyed Su Min's hallucinating about Min Hwan in prison. It was a terrific way to show how far her delusions had gotten. **Death's Game** \- Cleverly told with almost all of the characters woven well. In turns, darkly funny, then sad and horrific. GREAT cameos by excellent and beautiful actors.
**Doctor Slump** \[8/16\]: The first half has been okay-ish. I just saw the other day that the writer of this drama also wrote **My Roommate is a Gumiho** and realized no wonder why there is nothing extraordinary in this drama. I am watching this solely for Park Hyung-Sik and I adore his character so much! It's even more funny because I am watching **What Happens to My Family** as well and both Hyung-Sik and Yoon Park are brothers in that show who definitely don't share a nice bond. Anyways, hopefully the second half is not bad as well and watchable. **Marry My Husband** \[15/16\]: I am yet to watch the last episode but so far I have liked the drama. Especially the character growth of Kang Ji-Won. The chemistry was great but I feel robbed because in this entire drama we have had only >!one kiss!!< Like why you play with us viewers like this omg? Otherwise, plot wise I felt the drama was way better than the WebToon. Can't wait to watch the last episode and witness >!Su-Min's downfall!<. **My Country: The New Age** \[3/16\]: The episodes are so long, probably that's why I haven't been able to make much progress on this drama this month. I hope to finish this by the next month though. I love the characters so far, their stories and especially how they are interlinked to the real history. Also, as someone who has watched **Six Flying Dragons** and loved it so much, I can't wait to see this drama more especially Jang Hyuk as Bang Won because in my head only Yoo Ah-In can play Bang-Won so perfectly! Let's see how this one unfolds though! **The Legend of the Blue Sea** \[11/20\]: I had started rewatching it last year but stopped it at the 5th episode and since the binge crew is watching it together I decided to pick my rewatch again. I love this drama so much for a reason. The characters, the vibe, everything was spot on. Deserves more love for sure! **What Happens to My Family** \[6/53\]: I have a long way to go with this drama but I am glad about all the progress that I have made so far. It's a sweet drama. The depiction of family is so relatable and honestly I can understand where each and every one of them are coming from. As of now all the story arcs have been decent, plus I love the cast. So glad to see my baby boy Seo Kang-Joon in this drama, will probably finally watch **When the Weather is Fine** soon!
I have yet to watch **Six Flying Dragons**, but I can assure you that Jang Hyuk does a fantastique job as Bang Won. I feel like, from all the characters in that drama, I'm most likely to remember his character in the long run, than any other. I will always remember his unwavering personality and how impressed I was at all his scenes with his many beautiful fans. Oh I definitely do not doubt Jang Hyuk’s capabilities because I know the man can pull off anything. It’s just that Yoo Ah In played Bang Won so well that it will be very hard to see any other actor play it again. He left a long lasting impact on me. Plus he won the Baeksang Award for Best Actor for that drama and he absolutely deserved it more than anyone else. I am sure you will also end up loving him more! <3 Also yes, same feelings on Doctor Slump! Finally someone gets me because I see so many people who love MRIAG.
Uhhh knowing that he won a baeksang for it, makes even more excited to start **Six Flying Dragons**. Would you say it's really emotionally heavy? I loved **My Country: The New Age**, but after finishing it, I have been on more of a light sort of dramas to bring my emotional levels back up ahah Yeaaa **My Roommate Was A Gumiho** never left a big impression on me and I definitely have the same feeling with **Doctor Slump**, it's an easy watch but extremely predictable. When I feel like this, I ask myself if I changed the lead actors would this be interesting? And my answer is no, it's the type of drama that I'm clearly consuming only because of the leads. In both cases I felt that way. But yea we are in the minority of people feeling this way. xD
Well SFD definitely is emotionally heavy as you get to see the different emotions each and every character is going through in this journey of the history changing from Goryeo to Joseon. So I would suggest you watch this after some time especially if you are currently only looking for dramas that are light hearted to watch. You mah feel emotionally overwhelmed if you pick SFD now. But I genuinely do hope you enjoy watching it because it’s absolutely one of my all time fav dramas!
I feel like I will definitely enjoy it. I just had to take some time to recover from it, but I loved My Country. And I got so invested in that setting that I plan to watch Six Flying Dragons and Tree With Deep Roots too. I think My Country also became one of my favorites, so I'm expecting that Six Flying Dragons also turns out to be one of my favorites and with Yoo Ah In, that is easy. The only actor that I'm afraid I won't like watching their scenes is Shin Sae Kyeong. But I read that in this drama she did a good job, so I'm hoping she doesn't annoy me like she always does ahahah

There is only one drama I watched some episodes this week **Rookie Historian** 8/20 : I thought since it was a historical drama, it was happening in the medieval times or something, so I was extremely shocked when they mentionned it was ~1820! That's almost Victorian era, and like, 50 years after the current Outlander time. I was a bit mindblown to compare the korean society to what was happening in the west at the same time. I haven't watched any new episodes of dramas for personal reasons so I'm at the same episodes for: **My happy end** 12/16 **Live your own life** 41/50 **Branding in Seongsu** 5/24 **Our love triangle** 4/10

The first 20 episodes were a bit boring and going in circles. I was a bit frustrated to watch it as I felt nothing was happening, but once Hyosim starts to stand up for herself, it became quite good! It's late entertainment, but if I had to watch it again, I'd definitely skip half of the first episodes
Much like everyone else I’ve been watching Marry My Husband! I was pleasantly surprised to see that it’s #2 streaming show on prime in the US! It’s definitely not the best drama I’ve seen but it’s fun, and hopefully it gets more people interested and watching more K Dramas because there are soooo many gems out there.
**Love Song for Illusion** This has been my 'junk food' watch because the amount of enjoyment I get from it (very high) is completely disproportionate to its quality (uhhh). I wrote previously in its on-air thread that this drama is like watching the SparkNotes version of a 50 episode wuxia drama and this latest episode just 100% reinforces that feeling. I'm enjoying myself so much (maybe a little too much) 'writing out' in my mind all the "missing" episodes as the drama bulldozes from plot point to plot point. I can't in good conscience recommend it as a good drama but dear kdrama gods am I having so much fun watching it. **My Happy Ending** This drama has done something I personally feel is quite a feat in turning me from a revenge-hungry viewer to a viewer that desperately hopes for the FL (played by the fantastic Jang Nara) to have closure and solace by the end of the drama, revenge be damned. The drama has been such a journey and I don't know what the ending will bring. **The Two Sisters** This daily is insane as it should be considering it is absolute makjang madness. I might give up on it if it gets to be too much but for now, it's been an interesting watch.

Would you recommend **My Happy Ending**? I keep seeing so many mixed reviews, but mostly people keep complaining about the drama. However I read something that left me intrigued. It appears that the drama has the narration of an unreliable narrator this simple detail, leaves me so intrigued as it's definitely not something that I have seen before in dramas. But from the synopsis on MDL it looks like an average drama plot. I'm not sure if I should give this a chance or not. lol

The synopsis is a bit off in that it only captures the initial starting premise of the drama (and isn't entirely accurate at that) but the drama itself advances past that bit fairly quickly. Having finished ep 15, I'd say it's far from average in the sense that I haven't seen any other drama tackle a certain issue from this particular perspective/angle. Defining the issue is a clear spoiler in my opinion so I'm not defining it. The unreliable narration stems directly from the issue and is used masterfully in my opinion -- the first half of the drama uses it as a device for story-telling in its thriller/revenge arc, while the second half reflects on the unreliable narration of the first half in a very emotional context that goes directly to who the FL is and everything about her life. I usually like thrillers and mystery, but they are always associated with crime or horror. I never pick the revenge type of dramas. I think I can count with one hand the dramas that had a revenge plot that I watched, and they were probably too light compared with My Happy Ending. lol Your description of the drama makes it really interesting and I'm even more curious if the synopsis is a bit off from the overall story. I might give it a shot, it's really not my type of drama but the way it appears to be written it seems to be unique in way that it peaks my curiosity. I'm so intrigued with that narration and why it happens.
Reporting back after finishing the finale just now. Can confirm the synopsis is way off in the sense that while it's the starting point of the drama, the bulk of the drama isn't really about the story the synopsis is suggesting. It's basically a biographic melodrama about FL's journey where she undergoes a series of turmoils and struggles, part of which is thriller-esque and revenge-based. With regards to the revenge arc when it comes to the FL played by Jang Nara, I'd honestly even hesitate to call it true revenge because she's really only seeking for justice to be mete out for wrongs committed by others (and mostly through legal means with some dramatic license). It is melodramatic and somewhat over the top, which is not your thing based on your tendency to praise more slice-of-life dramas (at least from comments I've remembered from you). I think I have you mentally classified as similar in taste to siani, and this would not be something I'd recommend to her. I definitely kept an eye on this drama because of Jang Na Ra and Son Ho Jun reunion. But just like you described this drama is really out of my usual type of dramas. I love slice-of-life type of dramas, but I never go into those that are too melodramatic with a revenge plot. Which was the reason on why left until it finished to see what was really about, it does seem to have a unique way to tell the story which I find pleasing. And I think you classified me right, I do tend to pick the same type of dramas as Siani, at least from what I noticed. I was actually surprised in the last KDC check-in because all of her dramas were the exact same I was planning to watch for the KDC. If you say she wouldn't enjoy this, something tells me I would probably not like it too. ahahah I even checked the recommendations on MDL and from those I only watched **Flower of Evil** and **Go Back Couple**. Both of these dramas are extremely different from each other and the synopsis didn't seem to be similar to them either. Probably it's something really unique and it's hard to compare with others.
I was feeling a bit of a slump at the start of the year but this last month I've been more consistent getting into dramas: **Welcome to Samdal-ri**\- 15/16 The family and friend relationships make the show but it has dragged at points. **My Happy Ending** (14/16) This show is darker than more normal fare at this time of year honestly. Jang NaRa is killing it with her role and keeping you caring about her character when she's a very unreliable narrator at points. Not always an easy task. Sometimes the twists throw you but I'm looking forward to seeing how they tie it all up. **Marry My Husband** \-completed. Loved the first twelve episodes, think the Boa character would've been stronger with a different actress but it was hard to top Song HaYoon. It was a big switch from her character in Fight My Way which was the only others of hers I remembered and she delivered. **Flex X Cop** (6/16) - tried on a whim and am quite enjoying this. Very stylistic show with colors and vibe but also much better than I anticipated. It's a fun romp with hints of more underneath and I am happily on board so far. **Sugar Sugar Honey** (3/10) Half hour Jdrama that is light and sweet, good for lunch hour breaks or a brain fried night. Tried first episode of **Branding in Seongdu** and am a bit undecided whether to continue. The production is a bit lower than I anticipated from previews so it may have jarred me is all. **Once upon a Small Town** (5/12) Might be too similar to Welcome to Samdal-ri for me. A struggle to finish episodes lately. Contemplating starting **A Shop of Killers.**..missed if anyone here has watched it and thoughts. Edit: delete some extra words
I loved A Shop For Killers. Pretty nonstop action, very stylistic, LOTS of guns, lol. A couple twists that surprised me. Pretty violent so if you’re offended by that it wouldn’t be a good watch for you. I really developed a lot of empathy for the two main leads.

I'm watching Death Game. I finished part 1 and need a mental health break from it. I just started Business Proposal which seems like a nice light and fun kdrama. I might throw MMH into the mix too
Knight Flower 9/12: This drama is soooo good. Enjoying every moment of it. This is my first drama of Lee Hanee and she has just nailed it so far whether its comedy or action. Going to checkout her other shows. Marry my Husband 14/16: This drama was going quite good but somewhere around the 11th or 12th episode it started going downhill. Should have been a 12 episode series, it would have been more enjoyable.
I just finished Marry My Husband - It is a fun and romantic revenge drama. The villains are people you love to hate. Backstreet Rookie - I was going to start My Demon but this one appealed to me. Like the characters so far. The Killing Vote - the first episode was pretty dark but I am excited to see where it goes. About a rogue anonymous vigilante who sends texts to vote if a criminal should die. Doctor Slump - a nice comfort show about high school rivals who reunite years later. They become unlikely friends who lean on each other. It is a bit slow but love the leads. And there is some silliness and misunderstandings
I am watching "King the Land". I took a break from it to watch "Marry my Husband", which I really enjoyed.
Behind your Touch is very underrated. The way it flips from comedy to thriller is unimaginable. I recommend it to all.
Of course, Captivating the King and Dr Slump but I'm letting a few episodes build up. Meanwhile Mr Sunshine. How did I miss this one? So many handsome actors!

I'm enjoying Dr Slump at the moment and Flex X Cop. Both are easy watching. Waiting for the last two episodes of My Happy Ending. Just started My Man is Cupid.
In a slump but have 2 episodes of **Doctor Slump** to catch up on (love it), unsuccessfully tried a few episodes of **Extraordinary You** (premise is great but I find something a bit lacklustre, I'm probably getting too old for high school stuff), and started **Love All Play** which I'm enjoying a lot even though it's unexpectedly heavy and melo but I guess I'm in the mood for it!
I think Knight Flower stands out for me ,Honey Lee has really made this show a joy to watch she is so funny. The age gap with ML is a bit much but otherwise great show with a very understated Villian but the FIL was well played also his henchman is my Favorite baddie too.
Finished - **Marry My Husband:** if it wasn't for a couple of atrocious eps, 13 and 14, this could have been a legitimately great drama. It's still enjoyable, the revenge is well designed and comes to a satisfying end in many facets, romance is better later on as the chemistry between the leads improves steadily. PMY is her stunning, ethereal self, with more spirit and fight than usual, ML does the job, a nice secondary or two. A bit of a missed opportunity, not bad nor surprising on its genre, a 7.5 A JDorama to add too in **Elpis**, a thriller about journalism, power and the never-ending fight fo truth and justice. Nice story, inspired by real events, great leads, quick pacing, entertaining, also a 7.5 In progress - **Flex X Cop (6/16):** a week worth waiting, the ML is finally bonding with the team, cases are fun and easy to follow, banter is A+, they are really investing a lot of time in character development and I'm all for it. Best on-air drama I'm currently following, sadly overlooked, deserves a chance 100%; - **Live Your Own Life (43/50+):** just give my a decent finale on major storylines and put me out of my misery, I can't with all the nonsense anymore; - **Queen of Divorce (7/12):** strangely enough I'm feeling the romance part more than the revenge; the latter is too cookie cutter and foreseen while the former has tension, better construction and more emotions to it. Glad the ML is showing up nicely, proving he does fits the bill as a lead. Not bad even if there's nothing amazing jumping out. On the lookout for **Wedding Impossible** and a couple other binges in due time.
**Queen of Divorce** \- 6/12 - I haven't seen the new episodes yet, but I'm really enjoying how fast paced everything is, even though SO MUCH GOES ON and I really gotta pay attention. I want her husband to get his comeuppance so bad, omg. I really did expect something lighter, but they do have some decent comedy spots that don't have this be the most depressing show ever. **May I Help You** \- 14/16 - I'm so mad about the tonal shift in this show >!and the cop reveal. Adding in all that trauma with his backstory and then having him do the exact thing his father did has infuriated me beyond belief. Especially like.. you can't come back from that? Like what happened to the healing drama this should've been? I would've rather it be revealed that the cop knew about the ML and his brother and that he'd been hiding THAT while also spending time around them, feeling guilty, and like.. helping them, versus what the hell we got. Also the FL is so rude? Like I can't stop thinking about the scene where she mocks the cop for crying a lot post reveal to the ML about the brothers and it's framed that it's meant to make the ML feel better? When she really just looks like an asshole. !!when I already know about the FL's dad.!< Yes, I needed to get that vent out.
Also, I find the plot really flimsy >!with that reveal of the cop and how they decided to realize things were wrong because she saw the brother in the afterlife and "omg someone who murders someone won't be going to heaven like that murder suicide case in the last episode" ????? He didn't INTENTIONALLY MOW DOWN THE CHILD. Neither did the cop, mind you. These were not intentional like the murder suicide case and I think it's beyond screwed to equate the two. The kid stopped in the middle of the street in the dark and in the rain. The drunk driving really takes it over the top, but it's just so lame. Add in the fact that they're like, oh he took this picture from the passenger seat! So he wasn't driving! IT WAS AN HOUR BEFORE THE ACCIDENT, HOW WOULD THIS PROVE ANYTHING.!<
**Nana Tour with Seventeen** \- 6/6 - in better news, this was healing in ways I didn't know that I needed and I would recommend it to anyone who doesn't even know kpop/Seventeen because it was so heartwarming to see them together and experiencing such new things and loving their lives. Plus they're funny. Only downside is it isn't OT13, but maybe if they somehow wrangle out a S2 before enlistment.. a girl can dream.

I've finished Designated Survivor: 60 Days. What a brilliant political thriller. Something like a mix of a serious Yes, Prime Minister and Vagabond. Nice characters (one character's motivation at the end is quite enigmatic and unclear to me, I will probably play those explanatory scenes again). Great soundtrack. The original American version doesn't seem that interesting to me, but it has more seasons, so I don't know if I should give it a try, maybe I will some day.
**Doctor Slump** (8/16) - My favorite airing drama. **Jealousy Incarnate** (23/24) - Ooh! Love triangles and interesting living arrangement. Love Jo Jung Suk. **Captivating the King** is on my watchlist.

I was happy to see my *Healer* peeps again and enjoyed some of the actors. I just couldn't get behind the lead couple. **Youth of May** (2/12) Only two episodes in, but I'm enjoying this so far. Unsure about the ML yet. I'm not familiar with him and he seems a bit wooden.
The lead couple kinda felt strange to me. They seemed like they were still in college but they are actually in their 30s. Also, was it just me or was the >!”I approve of you and I don’t hate your family anymore!!”!< felt really sudden and strange?? I mean we go 14 episodes of the dad >!hating!< them and then all the sudden it changes? Weirdly enough I actually like this drama more than HTCCC.
It's been a long time since I've seen HTCCC and it was one of my earliest kdramas, so my thoughts about it might differ today. The dad's change of heart was a very long time coming. Too long, I thought, so I didn't think it was that sudden. It seemed like his memories of her friendships finally made him want to take that step.

Marry my husband- loved the acting loved the story but I always have issue with the 2 main characters (not the actors just the characters) overall it's a fun watch and I'm enjoying it. On eps 14 Doctor slump- super fun and I think everyone's acting is great the brother and mom especially I really liked. Huge roller coaster of a drama so far though. On eps 8 Mr queen- also hilarious and fun. Love the main character still alot of story left. Great job of not revealing everything from the start. On eps 7
Also finally watching Mr Queen, on eps 3. I don't have a great track record with historical era shows but fun so far. Goblin - I'm still recovering from just finishing it. Age difference was a bit of a struggle at times, but I got over it. Less interested in the second leads' romance, but the bromance was top notch! I was already convinced by Gong Yoo in Coffee Prince, but he really is a very handsome man and fantastic actor. I get why the wave of folks who only "discovered" him in Squid Game all wouldn't mind getting slapped by him 🤣
Goblin was awesome. The bromance is everything and I love it. I just finished welcome to Waikiki which was also hilarious.
Death's Game A Killer Paradox
*A Killer Paradox* - this one messed my brain up, every scene I was like Uhhh HUHHHH!?? I found it amazing and disturbing at the same time. Nonetheless the plot is amazing, and the details in the sensory experience for the viewers was chefs kiss (ex: the gum chewing, and panting). Why it disturbed me was that it made me question my morals at one point..

Checked out **Badland Hunters** and it was ok. Ma Dong Seok eats in action roles but the plot was kinda meh to me.
**Marry My Husband \[13/16\]** \- I have to admit, I was annoyed/confused when >!Yu Jihyuk suddenly wanted to break up with Kang Jiwon!<. I get where he is coming from but idk, something about his reasoning did not sit well with me. Just felt like one of those "let's break up now because something dramatic is about to happen and it will add to our romantic reunion that the audience never saw coming" kdrama moments. Also, I was dreading ep 12 based on the negative commentary I read. I did not mind the plot twists and I enjoyed ep 13, especially the ending scenes between Jung Sumin and Kang Jiwon. Emotional. Intense. Fiery. I'm also watching/listening to ReesaTeesa's **Who TF Did I Marry** story time series on TikTok since it's all over my fyp. I'm on part 23 out of 50. I listen while driving or cooking or folding laundry (pretty much any time I am not able to read kdrama subtitles). It has been entertaining and I am curious to see how much crazier it gets.
Just finished A Shop for Killers and it was fantastic. Led me to The Revenant, which is slow paced but great. Now I’m 5 episodes in to Captivating the King. The ML and FL leads have great chemistry and it’s avoiding the palace intrigue tropes I find annoying. Everyone’s motivations are so complicated. You do require a suspension of disbelief to handle anyone believing the gorgeous FL lead is a dude. But if you just go with it, this show is a lot of fun.
Binged on Stranger 1 and 2 and loved both. Now I believe why this show was recommended consistently by redditors for great thriller / suspense / prodedural with no romance but great chemistry, solid writing and acting for both main and supporting cast. I've never been so hooked and love the way they avoid the tropes - no wrist grabs or falls or trucks of doom or memory loss .. yay!! Just red herrings galore and a painful plot twist in Season 1. Love the ML and FL abd how they are complement each other professionally and personally so effortlessly. Their acting together at the same high level. Would love to see a Season 3. Now watching Divorce Attorney Shin for a totally different take on the ML. Will watch Matrimonial Chaos for the FL as well.
I just finished Marry my husband. It was ok. I felt it dragged last few episodes. They should have wrapped by 12 eps.male lead's gf was used to swap ml fate. Writers should have used someone more interesting. Heroine's crazy friend was beautifully crazy , introducing another wacko crazy made no sense. Felt shoddy writing. For me the actress playing soomin was the best in this series.
**Mysterious Personal Shopper** : I bought this on dvd a few years ago, This is from 2018 and stars Park Hana. **Third Marriage :** I might drop this and replace it with a non revenge drama. **The Love in your eyes :** I only started this so have no idea how it will go I’m mostly been watching the longer dramas and older dramas, none of the newer dramas have caught my interest, so I haven’t been watching any of them. Also waiting for a dvd I bought “You are my destiny “ which is Im Yoona’s very first drama, she was only 18 years old.
