**Snowdrop** (15/16) As hot as Jung Hae-in was in this one, I got almost to the very end and decided I >!didn’t want to watch him die!< even if that meant missing some of his impressive acting. And forearms.

duh_leah

I was watching Snowdrop ongoing and I was holding onto my dear life (more like Jung Hae-in's).>! And it's not that he just dies, he dies in the worst possible way, like without any mercy at all!<. You did good dropping.

CommandAlternative10

See, **Heartbeat** wasn’t a total waste, if only for teaching us that 15/16 is a totally valid option.

duh_leah

LOL that's one positive way to look at it

writtenpoeticsins

I feel like his >!death could have been avoided honestly. It felt unnecessary.!<

Red171022

Totally unnecessary actually…it’s like they wanted the sad ending tag because you know that makes the drama look more ‘serious’ and better ig…Hate the trend with milked sad endings…I think the same happened with big mouth or even 20th century girl…Anyways I don’t really care because I hated both snowdrop and big mouth

haddiboti

His forearms were really the main character.

semiquantifiable

Oh man, I'm watching this right now but am pretty early on (ep 5) and I don't know how >!JHI and Jisoo will get together based on how badly he must be traumatizing her with the hostage situation.!< So there's a part of me that wants to keep watching since it's out of the ordinary, but I was expecting romance and am not liking his character at all. Wonder if it's worth finishing since I'm not even a third of the way in.

CommandAlternative10

I rode the fact that he was unreasonably hot for a long time. But the plot gets increasingly repetitive and the romance deserved more attention.

semiquantifiable

LOL yeah, I'll completely admit their looks can make up for *a lot* of story shortcomings.

Key_Importance_3514

I feel that way about so many! Some of the dramas that are popular on this subreddit are really just the leads coasting on their looks. I’ve been guilty of finishing dramas and fast forwarding through unnecessary dialogue just to get to the end. Hello King the Land.

Financial-Pound1134

The Impossible Heir. I was excited to watch this and was looking forward to the bromance and teamwork of the MLs. The story became a mess as the two were fighting for the affection of FL which I couldn’t understand why. Also, after college, the story shifted to corporate setting wherein ML(Tae Oh) became close to the Chairman, I was like, how did that happen? I would have wanted to see that journey. I share the popular opinion of the others that the SFL could have been the FL. The ML(Tae Oh) and SFL chemistry is on fire albeit their short interaction. Can they reboot Impossible Heir with the SFL as the FL ending up with ML(Tae Oh) and without the original FL in the story. I would watch that. The two MLs are phenomenal in acting and the SFL.

kyokonaishi

Seriously a big big let down, dont even try to finish the show. I watched for both male leads. The story shifted and became so messy for this quality of a drama. So many unnecessary elements and plot holes. Day 1 disliked FML lock her up! She killed that show.

chelleml

This was a disappointment. I dropped this after finishing episode 6. It was an incomprehensible mess as they went into the corporate plot. The ML actors are such strong performers that it was difficult to watch any scene with the FL actor playing opposite them. It was impossible to understand why the MLs liked the FL. Not from a performance standpoint, but mainly a writing standpoint. And that's to say that the MLs and FL are all poorly written characters. I wanted to keep watching to see what happens between the Tae Oh and the sFL because I loved their chemistry and interactions from the start, but I couldn't get though it.

Jan-uary

I went into watching Hierarchy totally blind, and it wasn’t until I started the last episode just yesterday that I realized I was forcing myself to watch it. So I dropped it lol. >! I didn’t like how the show was seemingly romanticizing the situations of the four main elites, especially Jung Jae-i and Kim Ri-an. And how Kang Ha seemingly had no real plan to avenge his murdered brother, who, before he died, got bullied by Ri-an and his crew, and because Kang Ha has fallen in love with Jae-i—who is trying to protect Ri-an, a bully who bullied Ha’s brother—he suddenly doesn’t wanna get revenge anymore and just… yeah. !<

echonessbell

omg me too they literally had the plot and the characters it was going so well in the beginning and then it's like they forgot what the genre of the show was?? you didn't miss much dropping it lol I somehow watched til the end and this was the last show I expected to end all happy and gooey lol

justsomedeadangels

this drama is so bad

uacoop

> how Kang Ha seemingly had no real plan to avenge his murdered brother This was my main gripe with the show...like, what is even the plan my guy? The only reason anything happens at all is because he gets evidence literally just handed to him. Also grossed out at them trying to make the characters relatable...like I'm supposed to root for these little monsters??? I finished the show (with a lot of scene skipping) but only because it was so short.

allaroundfann

The premise was totally interesting so I’m hooked thinking it’ll be another Sky Castle (which set the bar high for me). But everything was poorly executed lol.

Romoreau

I got all I needed to know from those little automatic previews that Netflix does. I could just feel it wasn’t going to be enjoyable and the thread confirmed my suspicions.

Direct-Drawer-4442

It was really good until the last 2 episodes, the ending was absolutely terrible.

IndigoHG

Omg I forgot I was watching this! Good until ep 5 or 6 which there was a plot turn and I noped out.

Luna_min728

Start Up. I watched (10/16) episodes till the truth was revealed to Suzy but I found it boring after that. ML seemed overly emotional and I was drawn to Kim Seon-ho more.

trash0606

i havent seen a single soul saying they prefered the ml over the sml, you are not alone hahaha

SR503

Hi. I did. 🙋‍♀️ Sorry.

SalvadorMagritte

ME TOO. I thought the writing in StartUp was so intelligent and I completely understood why she chose ML and why the ML was 100% the better fit. Plus, NamJooHyuk is perfection. Start-Up is a top 10 drama for me. Incredible.

AggressivePrint302

ML was not good I this but I was pleasantly surprised that he was solid in Twenty Five Twenty One. He was no match for KSH.

Romoreau

I have this one on hold because of the ML.

SR503

Start Up is one of my faves, but I agree it does lag in the middle, around when you dropped. But there is a bit of a time jump giving everyone the opportunity to grow up a little more, and it got good again. The ML and 2ML even become somewhat friendlier, if not BFFs

Sunshine_Gunpowder

I dropped Romance in Hagwon.. can't get past episode 3

ScowlingGoddess

Me too. I just found it too 'insider' on the hagwon system for someone not brought up in this society. Also, no real signs of the romance yet 😒

gojiberri27

Romance gets good around ep 5-6

Chy-Chy-Chy

I struggled with this one at first too but hold out, it’s gets good and really picks up pace.

springwanders

same. I made it to ep 10 and then the drama appeared and i was like but this drama is so boring ad predictable LOL

JoCash24

I almost dropped Romance in Hagwon too until I saw an edit of the romance in a later episode. I still struggle to get through the episodes though. It’s one that I’m ready to be done with because it doesn’t leave me wanting more at the end of the episodes.

TossedWordSalad

It is slow, but I am loving the romance and learning about the ins and outs of the Korean academy system. I think the reason it is so slowly paced is because the conversations seem so real. I feel like I’m a fly on the wall watching real people at their real jobs having real conversations. I normally don’t like noona romances, and maybe I’m biased because I love both these actors, but I feel like it is so realistic.

stevia100

It depends on someone's preference. I am excited to watch episode 15 and 16 of this. The story is good for me.

puggyboy1234

It gets better

kyokonaishi

Happy to know i wasnt the only one having difficult time with the drama. I attend the weekly discussions in the forums and feel so out of place feeling like the only one not praising and gushing over the show. Lol I find both good and bad things i struggle with regarding the show. The romance does get better im up to date on episodes.. current pace got better as things start to unravel .. i want to see how things turn out tbh.

Telos07

It's time to say goodbye to **Goodbye Earth** (6/12) from my currently watching list. What makes it stick out like a sore thumb is (some of) the dramas alongside it on my currently watching and watch lists: Currently watching: **Stranger** (10/16), **Signal** (7/16), **Reply 1988** (6/20) Watch list: **Prison Playbook**, **Hospital Playlist**, **My Mister**, **Hotel Del Luna** Realistically, there's no chance I would return to **Goodbye Earth** with the caliber of dramas way above it in the pecking order. Even getting to the halfway mark of **GE** was a struggle. The drama's only saving grace was the impressive cinematography. The biggest issue is that the filmmakers wasted the fine cast by not making me care about any of the characters or the situation they were in. And if you don't care about the characters in a post-apocalyptic genre drama, then there's no reason to continue watching it.

ldC78pItk

I loved Signal and Hotel Del Luna

aej_fan

I agree with you on Goodbye Earth. It's unfortunate that they wasted the wonderful cast. I opted to watch it after seeing My Dearest, since Ahn Eun Jin really piqued my interest, yet I still chose to drop it after episode 3.

baitaozi

Your watch list will be amazing! My Mister is quite serious though. Definitely not like the others.

This_Seaworthiness86

Reply 1988 gets good episode 6 onwards imo. Hang in there!

mhfan_india

Just finished Stranger. I wish I was around when it aired to discuss a few things on my mind.

dorkbot3000

Not that anyone cares, but if I had to rank your currently watching and watch list, I'd put it like this (in alphabetical order in each tier): S Tier: Hospital Playlist, My Mister, Reply 1988 A Tier: Hotel Del Luna, Prison Playbook, Signal, Stranger Absolutely love Ahn Eun Jin, and saw that Goodbye Earth was coming right after I finished My Dearest. I haven't wanted to try Goodbye Earth because it sounds like they just chopped it all to heck. I wish they could have released the original version in the US.

DerpyOwlofParadise

They’re all very good on your watch list and current

One-Veterinarian-217

I think Stranger is great ( but it was also one of the first k dramas I watched. Reply 1988 is one of the best

Tall-Ad-9355

You have some great choices on your list. Definitely watch those instead

xmedousax

Frankly Speaking because it seemed like it lost the plot and I just did not feel the chemistry at all between FL and ML. Doctor Slump because it just got really boring, there were way too many scenes of the leads together in my opinion.

Necessary_Rooster_85

Frankly Speaking had a lot of potential as a Comedy with its funny plotline and should’ve leaned harder into that but instead became another stupid healing drama.

_danceswithcows

Also stopped frankly speaking for same reasons

AverageWinner

Stopped watching frankly speaking after the dating show ended. They became really inconsistent with his "switch" Though the plot is funny in the beginning.

Snickersnerds

I enjoyed Doctor Slump overall but the last 2-4 episodes were a little hard to get through. It felt like the show was dragging out too much 😭

budiluv

Dropped Frankly Speaking after 2 episodes. ML and FL sadly don’t have the comedic chops to sustain my interest. They should probably stick to just doing drama.

heart_headstrong

Same.... tried again at ep 6 but it is too gimmicky. Feels as contrived as Oh My Ladylord, which was a terrible disservice to both leads.

glok101

I watched it all because i needed something mindless after the emotional roller coaster of QOT

RockAndNoWater

Doctor Slump was surprisingly mediocre considering the leads. Still finishing it but seriously disappointed.

jamN_doughnuts

samee i dropped this too but i mainly disliked the romance i watched up to episode 10 and i really liked the plot but just not the romance

uacoop

Just one of a thousand kdramas that drop or sideline its main plot hook after a few episodes to become a bog-standard rom-com. I wasn't mad at it but it was entirely forgettable.

QueenGalore

i dropped doctor slump cause the narration just became too much. it felt like i was listening to an audiobook😭

outdoorintrovert1

I spent six hours watching 4 episodes of Queen of Tears and I don't feel super invested in continuing the show. The episodes are very long (90 minutes) and they kinda feel long too. I am invested in Baek Hyun Woo and I think about him and Hong Haein's relationship when I'm not watching the show. But somehow, I still find the show boring, I don't look forward to pressing play on the show and I end up watching other things on Netflix over this show. I kinda wish I watched it while it was airing because maybe I needed those active discussion threads to continue watching it.

pestomacaroni

I really loved Queen of Tears and probably cried for like 10 episodes straight loool but I understand why people can’t get into it or can find it boring at times. It is so incredibly long and although I’ve come to appreciate their family storylines when it all comes together - there are lots of moments that feel really dragged out! 90 minute episodes with the last one being 2 hours long is definitely a choice

outdoorintrovert1

When you say 10 episodes straight does that mean starting from the first ones? There's nothing to cry about in those

duh_leah

Tbh if you're not invested you may not cry and that's fine. I, on the other hand, cried a lot. I felt so much for hae-in and how she behaves and why she's the way she is. Yeah, especially the end of episode 4 made me pause and cry hard.

Snickersnerds

I’m in the middle when it comes to Queen of Tears. I watched up to episode 6 when it was airing and put it on hold because I couldn’t handle how overly melodramatic the show was. I loveee romance melos but this one DID NOT seem like it was gonna be that kinda drama from the trailer and description. I was expecting some tears and angst but not the roller coaster it was 😵‍💫 To my shock when Hae-In was >!diagnosed with brain cancer at the end of episode 1. I thought it was gonna be a test for Hyun-Woo but she was serious!! And then he was happy! I understood the reasoning but it was still morbid and I felt so bad for HI who was taking his words and actions as genuine. When they threw in the succession plot!< I knew it was time for me to go, I just couldn’t 😭 It felt sooo chaotic. I was warming up to the leads but not enough to spend 180 minute on the show every week either. I thought their marriage was gonna be the focus but there was so much else going on which was disappointing and too nerve wracking for me. After coming back 2 months later, I enjoyed it a lot more though. I think it’s because I read some spoilers and knew what to expect. I say all this to say if I kept watching this on my 1st attempt, I would’ve absolutely hated it 😂 I completely understand everyone who dropped it or didnt like it because that could’ve easily been me. There are some really good things about the drama but unfortunately they spent like 50% of the time on the antagonists. And the constant amping up of the melo and makjang was not needed 😕 mixed emotions on this one for sure.

ProfessorHot8199

QOT was more of a makjang melo than a romance melo and I hated how the drama’s and all the actors potential were wasted on it. Also, I almost cry thinking what the drama could have been had the focus been on the lead pairs story without the makjang element of the whole evil witch-son duo. It would have been a great drama with just the main leads and the side characters’/family relationships’ storylines.

Snickersnerds

I 1000% agree 😭 it’s actual insane how increasingly ridiculous the show got, especially towards the end. I would never imagine a drama seemingly about an almost divorced couple >!turned into a succession show down with a side of terminal illness with crumbs of saving the leads marriage. The succession plot took up soooo much screentime which pissed me off. Towards the last few episodes we couldn’t go a few minutes without the antagonists popping up somehow. Even the car accident scene, one of my favorites of the show, was all their doing.!< Just a mess. Had they focused on the leads and their friends and family like you said, the show would have been much better and more enjoyable to watch. Post drama clarity is wild because when I first finished it I was like “wow, it had some flaws but I really liked the emotional scenes between the leads, etc.” Now I’m thinking “I liked some scenes between the leads but it wasn’t enough to mask the rest of the mess” 😭

dramafan1

The episodes were definitely lengthy, to the point where I felt it could have been a 20 to 25 episode drama, so it’s not a suitable drama to binge watch too. As I’ve watched a lot of kdramas by now what I can say is that some dramas were better enjoyed while it aired. Looking back, there wasn’t anything new in Queen of Tears aside from Hyun Woo being the Cinderella of the drama but it was showcasing the themes of love in a married couple and family relationships which I guess resonated with a lot of people who are already settled in their lives. It’s one of the 2024 kdramas that I liked overall though.

Necessary_Mud9085

I thought it was just okay. It was manipulative as hell, especially at the end. There are some satisfying romantic moments and it was one that came so highly recommended that I was watching it as our "family" show. We pick a show and then once or twice a week, we sit down to watch it together. It didn't really deserve that prioritizing but once we were a few episodes in, I didn't feel like we could just bail and find a new show to watch together, so we stuck it out. There are a lot of cameos in QoT, so that could be why some people just love it but I think it was uneven, and if you have really good things to watch, you should watch them first.

jazzaroo_2000

I watched all of it, it was good, but i wasn't addicted like others this year. I just kinda watched it out of need to understand all the memes and edits online. Also Hae-ins fashion haha. It was lovely don't get me wrong, i did cry and enjoyed it, but I was not like O M G best thing evvveerrrr. The other two I have seen this year from the same company Lovely Runner and Marry My Husband were better imo. I watched them both after the final eps aired and binged all eps over a week each. QOT took me 3 weeks to complete.

jbalwkjeblw0

Queen of Tears is trash until episode 5 and beyond, then it gets good.

Frequent_Time_366

Probably love alarm because I think it lacks of chemistry and kinda boring 🙃

SnooRabbits5620

I'm always here for Love Alarm slander. The reason it took me so long to properly get into Kdrama cos I thought they were all boring like it! I'll be bitter until I die! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

jbalwkjeblw0

I keep a ranked list of all the dramas I've watched just for fun and I'm at 100+... Love Alarm is at the very bottom. 😂

cutedoggoadventures

Melancholia. Awkward relationship, can’t handle teacherxstudent.

Local-Raspberry-5649

What’s funny is that I didn’t mind the teacher/student relationship when I was younger. Now, I can’t stand it. No storyline gives me the ick more.

Emotional_Meaning557

Just ended watched Brain Works played by Jung Yong-Hwa, at first, I really underestimate the story line, I even skipped the 1st and 2nd episodes. However, when continue to watch it, I ended watched it in only 4 days hahahaha. Now, I will watch Sell Your Haunted House played by Jung Yong-Hwa and Jang Nara 😄

28shawblvd

I enjoyed Sell Your Haunted House!

Informal_Ad_8128

Sell you haunted house is a masterpiece

Glittering_Editor_20

Hierarchy. I was hoping for The Glory approach. But nah! 😑

Effective-Length-192

Started watching clean with a passion for now, dropped it due to second lead syndrome. Not a great watch at all

featherzz

Try the chinese version 'use for my talent' -same story (so still cheesy) but the ML is much better (Jasper Liu!) and there's less SLS. I had major SLS on the Korean version too!

cascade159

I somehow made it all the way through this one but would not watch again. It’s a bit tedious so can’t really recommend.

lubnaa101

Queen of Tears. I tried twice, but couldn't get into it.

28shawblvd

My 75+ yo mom who will watch the hell out of any romantic kdrama series said she thought it was overhyped lmao. She finished it tho.

antecedentapothecary

your mom could be my friend

boatbodyorbust

I was super excited to watch QoT after all of the good press it was getting. I waited patiently for the series to complete so that I could binge watch. Instead, I'm still salty as hell from my time wasted on the 3 episodes that I managed to get through. Not only could I not find a speck of chemistry between the leads, I could not get over the fact that ML was so >!elated about FL's cancer diagnoses. I get that he wanted an "easy" way out of the marriage, but getting that hopeful and excited for her looming death was super ick to me.!<

jazzaroo_2000

I didn't get any chemistry from them either, Hae-in being so cold at the start put me off, she warmed up for maybe an episode or two half way through and I was like okaaay maaaybbe, but then boom, back to cold and aloof.

lubnaa101

Agreed. That's what turned me off too. I know he's eventually going to change his mind, but the fact that he even felt a moment of happiness after learning about her diagnosis just felt so so wrong to me.

Lamiaceae_

Same! This has to be the most overrated drama ever. My biggest gripe with QoT is that it makes zero attempt to give the two leads a somewhat believable backstory as to how and why they originally fell in love/got married. The entire dynamic between the two leads is too unbelievable for me to take it seriously enough and to hold up to the rest of the story.

hamorbacon

Same, I couldn’t understand the hype

Necessary_Rooster_85

Agreed. Super overrated.

UpstairsMean5305

Can't get past the two episodes. In fact, I never even finished the second episode. So many things are off with this serios right from the start and it just doesn't have the feeling if a high buget drama full of A List actors. I'm upset about this as I was really excited to watch it when it started; Kim Soo Hyun is one of my favourite k actors and Kim Ji Won is spectacular in every role.

JellyfishNumerous785

You’re not missing out on much. It was predictable and with a high budget. Just meh 😑

Miserable-Wedding731

Couldn't get into it either and guessed it from the start as to how it would end with her cancer diagnosis. It was boring and predictable! His crying is the worst. Great ugly crying, but not the best male crier. Just didn't take to this one at all and couldn't make it through too many episodes no matter how hard I tried.

hamorbacon

His acting is nothing exceptional, he just has a really weird, unnatural acting style, I don’t get get how he become highest paid actor with that acting

Bananacake2601

Omgosh I though I was the only one! Dropped after 2 episode. I didn’t like the story and it was boring.

hamorbacon

I dropped Queen of tears, it was just simply boring and I didn’t find the characters likeable at all. I also dropped wonderful world, it’s a good show but it’s just way to depressing, I’ll probably pick it up again when I’m in a different mood

WhatHmmHuh

I watched the first 4 eps. Stopped Then when it finished I watched 15/16. I don’t feel like I missed a thing.

raechka

Midnight Romance in Hagwon. It's fine but not something I vibe with in the summer. It's something I can see myself finishing in the winter because it's kind of... cozy?

watchme-now

Doona! ..... Boring, more boring and I kept falling asleep! Stopped at episode 3.😳

outdoorintrovert1

I found Doona terrible. The screenplay is written by the manhwa author and it shows. Not every writer can translate a book into a tv show without experience. Biggest gripe was how they spent more time showing Doona chain smoking than showing any character development or development between the leads. Doona gets almost no character development till the end. The 2FL is the best part of the show, has a better storyline than anyone in the drama and also came across a better actor than the others.

SeaMindless7297

.... i even forgot i dropped that one thats how bad it is imo

FTF_player27

i’ve unfortunately dropped a lot of dramas in not only june, but this entire year. 2024 kdramas just aren’t as good as 2023’s. i’ve dropped a killer paradox, wonderful world, wedding impossible, the impossible heir, branding in seongsu. i’m not sure why i dropped them. i guess they just couldn’t hold my attention for long

UpstairsMean5305

I feel like 2023-2024 are some of the worst years for kdramas in general. Netflix keeps on launching subpar dramas, whereas in 2020-2022 they had some of the best shows on air. In the last 1.5 years I dropped more kdramas than ever; they're all so boring and predictable and it seems like all the shows are either slice of life or about zombies/distopic universes/office romances.

FTF_player27

i actually really loved 2023 kdramas. we got twinkling watermelon, death’s game, the good bad mother, see you in my 19th life, perfect marriage revenge, etc. those are my all time favorites 😭 but you’re right 2020-2022 shows were amazing.

echonessbell

I also dropped the impossible heir and branding in seongsu lol I feel like I read the synopsis and start watching them bc the plot seems to be interesting but once they start to deviate, it's no longer interesting and I have no reason to keep watching

Snickersnerds

2023 was disappointing for me but I can’t tell how 2024 will shape up just yet. It’s been a slow watching year for me so I haven’t watched nearly as much as I did last year. I’ve dropped Wedding Impossible and I could’ve dropped Midnight Romance in Hagwon and been fine but there’s only have 2 episodes left so I will be finishing it lol.

theromanamputee

**Thank You** (dropped at 8/16): When I found out that Jang Hyuk and Shin Sung Rok had actually worked together in the same drama I got super hyped but this oldie is really slow, the attempts at sentiment don't actually evoke any emotions in me (and I'm an easy mark) and at the halfway point I don't buy the leads as a potential couple at all. **Oh My Baby** (dropped at 8/16): I love Jang Na Ra and her performance was typically excellent in this but it seemed to abandon its "single woman considers unconventional family formation" premise rather quickly to become a standard rom com, and a tepid one at that. I was feeling ambivalent about continuing so I lightly spoiled myself and the show isn't heading in a direction that interests me. The second ML is unbearable in this too, and I'm not the type of person who needs every character to be likable but a) he's boring as well as obnoxious and b) I don't understand why the other characters have him in their lives and reading about his antics in future episodes solidified my decision to quit. **Save Me Season 2** (dropped at 6/16): I was happy to see that the leads that I'm enjoying so much in **My Sweet Mobster** had acted together before, and I recently watched and loved the first season of **Save Me** so this should have been a slam dunk but it's extremely boring. I can't emphasize how much nothing happens in the six hours of this show I put myself through. You're just a fly on the wall watching these glum, nondescript villagers live their sad little lives but there's nothing here to actually make any of this remotely entertaining. The first season is grim but so intense and involving, season 2 is just like watching gray paint dry.

LacunaOfLlamas

Thank you for saving me! I was planning on watching this after My Sweet Mobster.

Iowegan

Oh, thanks for the info. Was considering watching **Save Me 2** for more UTG sights and sounds, but will look elsewhere…

theromanamputee

Yeah, I was **highly** motivated to have more of him on my screen but even the best actor can only do so much if the material is lackluster.

SunAndStars7

I found the story to be interesting, it was less cinematic and a bit more slow, but it picks up later

jnoelle89

Personally, Kdramas just don't hit like they used to! Ofc, older ones also had their boring moments, some sucked, some were great, and a lot of them went too long, but I kind of miss seeing actors that look less like models and more like everyday people? There's definitely been some awesome ones in 2023. 2024 has been fairly subpar. I def dropped Queen of tears and My roommate is a gumiho. I was hoping for something more like "my girlfriend is a gumiho" but I guess you can't get drama vibes like that anymore

MoonlitSnowscapes

> but I kind of miss seeing actors that look less like models and more like everyday people? You are not alone with that sentiment. I realized that with the recent show, My Demon, that nobody seems to mention anymore. I dropped it after realizing that the acting and plot was incredibly mediocre. It felt like the only point of the show was to provide eye candy leads and supporting actors/actresses.

zonjiro

Our beloved summer — I just felt like the plot was really stretched out, and not enough was going on to keep me engaged. I genuinely liked the beginning though

highly88

I feel like it’s a drama that you have to be in the right mood for. But it is a beautiful drama.

Ill-Hope-5543

I should have dropped it. I was bored out of my mind with that one

UpstairsMean5305

I really liked it by the end, but I see how others might be frustrated or bored with it. It's not in my top 10 but it's still a good kdrama and the OST is amazing!

Romoreau

The cinematography was the best part for me.

Scared-Idea-4959

I watched this one all the way through but remember it being slow and rather tedious. I liked the guy's apartment, though -- that's what I remember most about the series!

zonjiro

Yeah it was a really nice place!

playthatoboe

I think I have to be the only person in this world to have dropped *The Atypical Family.* I think I watched 5 episodes or so before dropping it. Didn't see any chemistry between the main leads and the entire show felt boring, revolving around only 1 problem even though there were several characters idk. It was just the family members in that drama Also dropped My Roommate is a Gummiho because it got boring and Once Upon a Small Town (Joy's acting felt weird) need smth nice to watch idk why I'm being so picky 😭😭😭

Ill-Hope-5543

I almost dropped Atypical Family at episode 5 for the same reasons. I was glad I stuck it out did one more episode because it did get better at episode 6. It still isn’t one of my favorite kdramas of all time but I did find it very interesting once I got to episode 6 (granted I did fast forward a lot).

Hydrangea_21

I almost dropped The Atypical Family for the same reason too. It started off strong, lost a bit of momentum somewhere in the middle, but picked up the pace again in the later half. I liked the last few episodes the most, and I guess it's the kind of drama that I was glad to have stuck with till the end.

RoseIsBadWolf

I liked Atypical Family but I didn't care about the romance between the mains, I just wanted I-Na to be happy and >!then she was!!<

Loose_Seaworthines

You’re not the only one, I might drop The Atypical Family too. The concept and storyline seems like it’d be good but for some reason I don’t find it interesting which is a huge shame because it sounds like it could be a good drama. I’d watch it and be bored which doesn’t happen often so I’m deciding if I should take a break or drop it.

not_today_mr

I dropped Atypical family too.

uacoop

It was slow and it didn't stick the landing IMO but it's short and I like the actors so /shrug

Krystalgoddess_

My mister- I just think I'm not in the mood for it

poppywhiskers

Same. I managed to watch up to episode 3 and put it on hold. I will definitely go back to it though. I feel for watching this and my liberation note one has to be in a certain kinda mood. Definitely not something I can binge.

Extreme-Option-2247

I agree that you have to be in a certain mood to watch either of these dramas. It took me 3 tries to get through ep 1 of My Mister, and probably 5 tries to finish ep 1 of My Liberation Notes. I thought that the latter was even more difficult to watch, but I knew these dramas were going to be good because I have faith in the writer, so I kept trying until I was finally in the right mood for a serious, slow burn drama. I could not stop watching after that. Now, My Liberation Notes is my favorite K-drama of all time followed by My Mister. I have watched a ton of K-dramas since I was in university almost 15 years ago, and my favorites kept changing each time I finished a new one--- until I watched My Mister. That was undefeated for a while until My Liberation Notes came along. I grew up in an area in a SE Asian country that is about 2 hrs away from the big city, so my daily commute was painful. I was also very depressed at the time, so the main characters were just so relatable to me. I still think about this drama a lot tbh, often playing it in the background as I work or do chores at home. It's just incredible.

writtenpoeticsins

>I feel for watching this and my liberation note one has to be in a certain kinda mood. Definitely not something I can binge. Same. I wanted to watch **My Mister** right after **My Liberation Notes** but I wasn't feeling it so it is on hold on my list for now.

Krystalgoddess_

Glad you said that, cause I had dropped my liberation notes in May

WhatHmmHuh

I made a comment like this a year ago and another redditor felt the same way, but wanted to watch it because it was so acclaimed. We had weekly discussions and got through with it and both of us said, yes it is well done. Glad we watched it because it is considered an iconic KDrama. No we won’t rewatch it. I do think that you have to be in a mindset to watch, but I am RomCom centric and it is just not my cup of tea. It is a very well done show though.

_its_a_thing_

I started that over a year ago and didn't even finish the first episode, but came back a month or two ago and was glad I finished it.

dramafan1

Dramas like My Mister are perfect for when I have a depressed mindset. Same goes for My Liberation Notes written by the same writer as My Mister. It's one of those dramas that feel comforting when life sucks.

SR503

You do need to be in the right head-space to watch it. It was a tough watch but very good overall. I have thought about it often, but can't rewatch it yet. The death of Lee Sun-kyun makes some of the scenes in it even more tragic, so I think it will be a while until I revisit it (if ever.)

Tall-Ad-9355

I dropped Killer Paradox. It just didn't grab me at all. Likewise, QoT. Also dropped Hong Gil Dong, Gaus Electronics, Branding in Seongsu, and Love in Contract. I have severe ADHD and if it doesn't grab me quickly I drop it. It took me a couple of years to watch CLOY for the same reason.

Excellent-Services

I dropped Romance in Hagwon. I found that instead of portraying her as a competent teacher, they were portraying her as a beautiful teacher... I get it, she's extremely beautiful so her hair not falling in her face wouldn't take away from her beauty

SnooRabbits5620

Marry My Husband. I've mentioned before that I was struggling with it but intent on seeing it through but I'm giving up. I'm currently so taken by Romance is a Bonus Book and the list of dramas I want to watch is the size of census so I don't see the point of continuing to force it. 🤷🏽🤷🏽

TheMsDacia

I finished it but it definitely went off the rails towards the end. I was so upset because it started out so damn good.

Just_simply_Sam8

Yes ! By like ep 13 I was like wrap it up

ShazInCA

**Romance is a Bonus Book** is a favorite for me. Hope it doesn't end up on your DNF list.

TheMsDacia

I really like this drama too!

Key-Morning7476

Midnight romance in hagwon - I gave this drama multiple chance to grab my attention but I couldn't even get past 4th episode..The storyline and the chemistry is like meh!! I've been a fan of wi ha joon's acting from worst of evil..but this type of role doesn't suit him..I think he is not made for noona romance!! Frankly speaking - I dropped this show at 6th episode.May be it's not my cup of tea. Also I couldn't find any chemistry between either of the leads. The silly and stupid humour was annoying af!! Hierarchy - I had huge expectations for this but it let me down..Poor storyline and mid acting from the actors!! Dreaming of Cinde fxxxing rella - I enjoyed the first 2 episodes. It was fun but suddenly I lost track and couldn't get past 3rd episode..may be I should continue ?! Does it get better or its ok I have dropped it?

Objective-Heron-6056

Wi ha joon is definitely made for noona romance. Just not this one. You should watch him in 18 again.

Uniquely_funny

Queen of tears I kept falling asleep on episode 1. (3x. Already)

shivroyy

i hate to say it, but Goblin. i couldn’t get past that she was still in high school. Maybe if she was in college, i would’ve been able to stomach it. but the ML literally looks like he pays a mortgage, has a wife and three young kids.

Letpplhavefun

Lovely runner. i love me a time slip story but it was poorly executed. KHY was fantastic in the funny parts and so is BWS. It’s just there were so many ways and opportunities to go about their situation but the lack of communication is really what kept everything going. If she had been creative in explaining what’s going on, he wouldn’t have had to die 3X. I guess it wasn’t satisfying to me esp when she’s made so many choices and robbed everyone else without any say. That’s not exactly romantic or loving to me 🤷🏻‍♀️

Virtual-Dare-5470

Is it just me or do dramas feel different when you're waiting weekly for new episodes and partaking in all the fandom discussions on reddit and twitter? I loved watching Lovely Runner over the two months but idk if i'd like it the same way if i'm bingeing all 16 eps in 2 days.

Letpplhavefun

Actually i like that you brought that up. I was literally thinking this the other day. I don’t like waiting weekly but I do enjoy being able to watch and discuss it w everyone else weekly. I probably would have watched it all the way to the part when he remembered. That’s all I care about. How are they gonna write that in? After that, I don’t care about all the coupley stuff they do🤣

lambstagrams

oh I thought I was being unreasonable for being annoyed at Sol..totally agree. After the 2nd death I feel like the drama kinda dragged on but I had to keep watching cause wooseok is just dreamy as heck lmfao 😩

echonessbell

Midnight Romance at Hagwon I expected it to be a slow show so I enjoyed the first couple eps but honestly even tho it's quite literally in the title that it was going to revolve around romance, somehow that was the least interesting part the chemistry felt so forced lmao the main FL was so much more interesting without him tbh. The show was already interesting enough just watching how she unfolds her career and the main ML doesn't seem to even fit her personality

Snickersnerds

I knew something was wrong when I, a hopeless romantic who loves everything romance, found the Hagwon issues the most interesting part of the drama 😂 on a more serious note, I just can’t get into the couple anymore. I’m just waiting to see how it all ends and say deuces ✌🏾

S7276

Hwarang:The Poet Warrior Youth This was my second time to try to watch it. I stopped at episode 5 last time. This month I got to episode 6 before I lost interest. My philosophy is there are too many good series to watch to waste time watching any I’m not real interested in.

artemisthearcher

Miss Night and Day (still need to finish the first episode, made it about 2/3 of the way through 😅) I love the two female leads but some of the humor just isn’t doing it for me. Also not sure how I feel about what seems like a >!murder subplot!< lurking in the background because I was hoping this would be a more lighthearted series

emaxTZ

This year I dropped every major drama and now I have nothing to watch from k-land .I used to watch drama from start to finish but nowdays I just drop and drop

emaxTZ

A lot of these drama nowdays they can really benefit from reducing episode/episode number decided by creative ,most of them suffer from pacing to adding unnecessary villains, etc check revenant and business proposal breath of fresh air story is focused ,pacing is great, no filla episode

Lamiaceae_

Queen of Tears. Watched the first 3 and I am bored to tears. I don’t get why it’s so popular. The F lead is insufferable, and I personally don’t enjoy insufferable lead characters, even if they grow. The show also does a very poor job at showing why and how the two even fell in love in the first place. I need somewhat of a believable backstory.

quoth_tthe_raven

And she takes a WHILE to grow, so if you don’t like the FL it’s really hard. I almost gave up, but ended up finishing the show.

DerpyOwlofParadise

I recently dropped Beauty Inside as it got too boring/slow but I may continue it. But I can tell you what I should’ve dropped: Memories of Alhambra 🤦

XavinNydek

Memories of Alhambra has some good scenes, but there's zero chemistry between the leads and the main plot is just nonsense. They basically used the standard kdrama "the mountain spirit is fucking with everyone again" rules where they never actually explain anything, but attributed it to a buggy computer program instead of a mountain spirit.

uacoop

> Memories of Alhambra Will go down in history as one of the most confusing/nonsense Kdramas I've ever seen lol

PolkaDotsMakeMeHappy

I watch Memories of Alhambra 20 minutes at a time every week or so just to get a glimpse of Hyun Bin. And I want to see Lee Jae-wook's appearance. Maybe next year I'll be done with it. Probably not

DerpyOwlofParadise

I watched it for Hyun Bin

alegnarrats

I barely made it through So I Married an Anti-fan. But I felt like I HAD to finish it. Wasn't the best. Also, DinnerMate, finished it but only because I invested several hours into them...

SeaMindless7297

Hierarchy - I'm just too old for anything high school it seems. I've been dropping them like dead flis lately Queen of tears - everyone annoys me? Idk just not for me. Castaway diva - didn't suck me in right away so i can't be bothered putting it on knowing ill be bored 20 mins in

hyuckismysun

Bad and Crazy - I wanted to watch because I love Wi Hajoon and the premise sounded cool. But the screenplay is just all over the place and I don’t give a fuck about any of the characters. Like I actually feel annoyed while watching the show 😭

_its_a_thing_

Aww I loved that one.

Antique_Indication_5

Welcome to Samdari , the drama was just boring for me.

sgtizenx

**My Military Valentine** (dropped last week). Its probably the most confusing and messy kdrama I've ever watch. Couldn't even get past the 2nd episode. The ML doesn't fit the role nor have the quality of being a ML. Find him super irritating to watch. The story development is a complete mess, all over the place. The FL looks promising though. Hope to see more of her but not in this drama.

SoggyPlatypus6148

I think I dropped it at the same time. I mean, the scenario seemed straight out of a wattpad story : I mean, an idol and a ninjaxsuperhero soldier in a reunited Korea ? Talk about unrealistic... So I went it expecting this show to be all over the place and crazy, but it was just messy, poorly written and directed. I get the production didn't have too much money, but come on

Shop-girlNY152

**Miss Night and Day** — *sorry, but the old actress is lovable as a mom in other dramas but totally not endearing as a lead here. She’s just irritating when she turns into this old woman, like no charm at all. I feel the role would have been better with the likes of Kim Hae-Sook or Ra Mi-Ran.*

Scared-Idea-4959

I just started this one (1.5 episodes in) and have been wondering whether it's worth the time...

Just_simply_Sam8

I am struggling to stay interested but for me the pacing feels slow

Necessary_Rooster_85

Queen of Tears. The most overrated show I’ve seen. Started off strong and with great humor then went into full soap opera mode.

crowndrama

**My Military Valentine** (or something like that). I literally only got to the point in the first EP when they first meet and she’s in full on swat/cop/security gear and he just rips off her mask. BOY HAVE YOU LOST YOUR MIND CUZ I‘LL HELP YOU FIND IT. In what world can a civilian (who is mistaken for a suspect) touch an officer, let alone rip off their mask, without immediately getting tackled? 🤣 I dropped it then and there… they even tried to make it a "cute“ moment with slo-mo and repeats…

ReceptionOk9090

I stopped watching “Connection”… it didnt really have an interesting story line and the gibe was always so dark without humour so it was really repetitive. Very long winded. But it was really good graphics and action

xcuriouscat

Lovely Runner ep 14. Sol’s constant crying was over the top and annoying but I tried to finish. The antagonist plot was dragged out for far too long. There were so many points/plot holes that everything that went wrong could’ve been avoided/prevented if only she was smart about how she came about it. Also, did no one notice that she could’ve >!outrun/avoided getting hurt by the killer if she just screamed out some future events to stop time like she did with Sunjae’s dad??? Like Taesung and some of cops could know her problems but she couldn’t tell her family or Sunjae when it was his life in danger??? Make that make sense cuz If I was going to get hurt, please tell me.!< To preface, I like the actors/actress and have nothing against them whatsoever. Another reason I stopped was the relationship PR they were doing for the show was too over the top for me personally. Obsessed fangirls eat that stuff up but for normal drama watchers, it was cringe watching two actors be all googling eyed and giggly outside of the show bc it came off as really disingenuous and forced. Maybe it’s just me but I hardly ship real actors bc ik it’s just their jobs but I understand this type of PR works really well (ex. Bridgeton S3, Hierarchy, Wonderland) and every show is doing it nowadays. But let’s be real here, how many times have you seen irl Korean celebrities be affectionate and showy of their relationship? None bc it’s private and should be kept that way as protection from crazy fans. That’s why they are all very private when dating and even married. Real couples wouldn’t risk that. So yeah, this was the final factor that left a bad taste for me. Made the vibes less genuine imo.

Healthy_Challenge_34

1. World of the Marriage- Ticktock summarized it for me. I watched a few episodes but couldn’t get hooked and most of the characters were just being dishonest and it creeped me out 2. Bloody Heart - This one was sucking literal life out of me so I stopped

Thisismelr

My liberation notes. I tried twice, but it’s so slow and I don’t get it 😅

WordSalad713

- Startup - i work at one and this ended up being stressful, will possibly pickup later - Hospital Playlist - didn't feel cohesive, was my first slice of life drama and I guess maybe they aren't for me - Boys Over Flowers - I know this is a classic but the acting was so overdone and I couldn't get into it especially with that era's production value

Imaginary-Benefit-75

Queen of Tears, Atypical family, beauty & mr romantic, Shooting Stars, Frankly Speaking I dunno why or what but the recent new ones from Netflix have missed the mark imo

Informal_Ad_8128

Shopping King Louise. I just cannot watch the same people getting robbed again and again and the amount of tomfoolery is beyond me

NakedSnakeEyes

I haven't dropped it, but I'm really struggling with Twinkling Watermelon. I think it's good, but it's just not that interesting and I don't feel motivated to watch it. I'm 4 episodes in.

AggressivePrint302

Agreed. Not sure the hype. It was just ok, not great.

thots89

Midnight Romance at Hagwon I couldn't wrap my head around a female teacher/male student romance, even if they were both of legal age now

idkmanbutthisig

it is also so slow like, wth

fuckyoufam_69

**Lovely Runner** I started it cuz everyone was saying that it's really good but I couldn't even get past episode 5. The FL is so annoying and 1 dimensional. Her only personality is to be an obsessed fan of the ML. That's. All. She has no other interests. Not even her family is important. And for whatever reason the ML falls for her. Like, why? She has done nothing but harass him, but he's like yeah I'm into that. And when he tries to explain his feelings to the FL, she just can't fathom being anything else but his fan, which is so annoying. The whole thing seems to be like a delulu kpop stan dream come true. As old as the FL is, she acts like a child, and overall it's frustrating to watch.... I can't believe ppl compare it to twinkling watermelon...... **Midnight Romance in Hagwon** I liked the idea and the cast, esp the ML. But execution was.... meh. In the first few episodes, they ruined the FL and made her unlikable. Her trying to sabotage the ML's application to be a teacher just cuz SHE thinks it's a bad idea... uffff.... and going to the lengths that she did... they demonised her and then we r supposed to like the lead characters together. Nope. Not gonna work. Plus the plot is just... boring. Nothing is happening and I watched til ep 5 or sth.

saladnetflix

I dropped “My demon” nothing about the drama is exciting

mhfan_india

**My Lovely Runner** - I gave into FOMO and watched 8 episodes of the show but couldn't connect to the main couple. Only interesting character was the SML. The ML has no agency of his own (though for no fault of his). The FL runs the show with the ML being her arm candy. In the 8 episodes I watched >!the ML has died thrice. It's very convenient that if she doesn't like the ending she can simply go back in time and change the ending. It's not like watching a show but playing a game where you go repeat your actions and hope get better the next time learning from your mistakes. It was tough to connect to it all.!<

midnight_moon0209

Lovely Runner, the plot started off so well but the ending seems to be underwhelming so I’m not even gonna bother finishing it.

forpfesake

Dropped **signal** with about 2 episodes left,i just couldn't keep going anymore! I know it's a classic for many but for me it was meeh.It didn't explain any of the time travel aspects(like does he change timelines or what ? And in  the first case the future changed only for him while everyone was acting normal..) ,it was all just so random. The cop from the past kept making the stupidest decisions and kept being dumb.the writing for me was lazy and the focus was heavily on the emotional side of things. Also dropped **frankly speaking**, it started soooooo good but went downhill halfway through the episodes.Suddenly there was no comedy anymore.but crazy exes and a million traumas ..it was like the writer was trying to complete the most random of bingo cards.I still was trying to be patient with it cause the leads were so adorable and good but i just couldn't deal with the writing anymore .

mhfan_india

I watched Signal till the end but I wish I had dropped it. >!In the end they show the same case from six different points of views. That was too much to take. I actually should have given up when they made the same actor (senior cop) play a twenty year old acting coy and all.!<

Affectionate_Lime729

Lovely Runner 🫣. I enjoyed it so far per se but… I just don’t care anymore about the characters. Crash - I wasn’t feeling it or it didn’t hold my bird brained attention span and I love the cast. Chief Detective 1958 or whatever, it was good but after the >!wedding!< I tapped out Frankly Speaking - it felt super “off” to me Dare to Love Me - I couldn’t suspend my disbelief enough to believe the characters

newclearwrld

Lovely Runner - I’ve seen so many positive reviews about this drama that made me very excited to watch it. I’ve watched two episodes and discontinued because of the FL’s acting felt over the top. I know she’s supposed to be a fan but it somehow didn’t feel genuine. I couldn’t watch the ML either. and their chemistry didn’t really work for me. It’s a bit difficult to explain, but it’s one of those dramas that you don’t really vibe with and drop, for me.

ConsistentBeach719

Behind your touch (12/16) it started off extremely funny but loses the comedy by ep 11 and is fully a crime thriller. I was okay with it until they started dragging the story out. I felt like there was so many unnecessary deaths so I’m glad I decided to just spoil the end for myself.
