LOL I just finished a Hometown sandwich. Their Large are HUGE! I could never eat a whole one at one time. And you MUST try that Broccoli/Cauliflower Salad.
I'm not surprised. I've known the owners for years. Tom isn't working anymore because of health reasons, and his wife is a roiling bitch. She treats her employees like slaves, won't let them take lunches or breaks, and of course they can't complain. She talks about their personal business with the customers and thinks she's so "nice". I've never met a bigger narcissist. Her own kid won't even work there. And all she does is complains about how "broke" she is. But she always has at least one and sometimes 2 new leased vehicles.
Sorry for the rant. I'm related to someone who used to work there, and know many of the kids personally, that have worked there over the years. She's a terror, and is always looking for a way to cheapen things.
Eek! I like their food, though I only get the Italian beef. I will say the place seems to be ran by high school aged kids. So who knows what’s up. Sorry you had this experience.
If you are near there, Hometown Meats is worth the trip. They have fantastic sandwiches in their deli

Living just down the street I stopped going there exactly because of that mean woman and how she treats them when I've been in there shopping.
My girlfriend works there and this is basically spot on from what she tells me. Oh and incase anyone is wondering she didn't make this sandwich.
I had not one, but 2 kids that worked there. And my third did for about 3 days until Ann fired her for being transgender. She's reprehensible.
Rustic Subs had better sandwiches than all these places. What a tragedy we lost them so soon.
My sister and her husband were the ones who cleaned out rustic and liquidated their stuff. They said it was disgustingly dirty and there were roaches.

They work in the restaurant industry, thats not every restaurant. BTW, I ate the cheese steaks from Rustic Subs all the time, they were really good.

We need Macs Deli back. They had the best sandwich’s.

Now a great sandwich place was hungry head but the shut down when covid was high in 2020. That place I miss daily.

Don't blame the kids. Ann is the problem there. And the beef is her husband's recipe, but he's too ill to work anymore.
Their Italian beef is so good! Surprising to see they failed this hard here.
Try Buona's out by the I on 75th. But I agree, I miss Macs deli. My heart and stomach longs for Uncle Munchies, was so sad when they closed.
