The main problem is that 553 is the cap for all skills, im still holding an edge over him in some areas but through each fighting session he always manages to get some lucky hits(his heavy is 183) and all this does is boost his and my skills. I am rapidly approaching my limit and so is he, but he is better kitted out so I cant sustain this war of attrition. I fear once mad-catlon reaches max skills for defence and attack, literally no one would be able to stop him. This has been a blood bath, I killed more than a thousand skeles in the Ashlands at this point. my attacks do a pathetic 5-20 damage to him while each one of his attacks(if he lands them) does around 40-60.
Also with stats like this,i guess this is due to your mods, differences in weapons don't matter that much. Like a jitte with its insane defensive stats would do nothing here whilst making it pretty much impossible for him to hit you in vanilla. So maybe this mod is just not suited for endgame duels? Or does the mod also adjust weapon stats?
This is the issue with so many mods. They crank stats to unintended levels and dont realize that high hp and high toughness means literally immortal. You only need around 80 toughness to never die from wound deterioration. If you also have higher hp than 1 hit can deal you cant die. This is why kill items exist. In the case of badly designed mods a reliable last resort is the peeler. Feels really fucking stupid to need the peeler for every enemy but whatever (looking at you mist ghoul mod, they arent even difficult to fight).
So true, mainly what happened was that whatever damage I was doing, catlon was out healing it. It was a endless cycle of that for 20 days, but i finally beat him. Stole his gear and limbs, and threw his ass in a cage.
Gratz. Just went through catlon on UWE. A bit frustrating. Nothing against UWE but its a case of modder arms race. Went to the first dome. 100+ storm thralls like normal. On vanilla i soloed it. On UWE i took 8 people with meitou/masterwork and 90+ stats. Didnt even kill any of them. Stormthralls have specialist to masterwork armor and 85 to 95 stats. Ok. I go get the whole crew. 10 crossbow and 20 90+ stat melee. Fight the first dome and dont even take down a quarter of them. Ok. Redo fight but set up chevron formations and use hold command. Win but have to camp for 5 days to keep the thralls down because they have super toughness as well. Leave and heal. Come back for catlons fight. Some unique units i have never seen before. Ironsides and enforcers. Go in no tactics. Win easily. Get about half way beat up. Then a stormthrall patrol of 100 more shows up and wakes up the first tower and i get dogpiled by 250 ish 90 stat thralls. Funny that you can see how the fight started but has just been power crept to the point where i think its reasonable to say it is expecting you to mod yourself stronger. Probably expecting you to have 256 people would be my guess.
Same thing happened to me, but I’m doing it solo. I just ran past the guards into catlons dome and did a bit of a fight there. Essentially what happened was that they absolutely messed me up but for 20 days. I took turns healing up and fighting both catlon and his minions so my toughness from the 2-5 damage(I had really high armour) the thralls did went to 553 in like 3 days, next was the defence stats over time and after a while it just got long and tedious. I eventually ran out of the dome into the openness and for about another 6 days slaughtered as many thralls as I could. I delayed my time with catlon as much as I could after realizing that he was becoming too powerful. Eventually did get him in the end.
I am finding it fun but there are some painful points that i greatly dislike. There are certain enemies that get full reset if you save and load. Everything in cat lons exile is like this except cat lon himself. Not a fan. Some enemies are functionally immortal. Only way i know of to reliably kill mist ghouls is to peel them. Not a fan. Yabuta outlaws automatically exist without player interventions and send raids of 20 stat shitters so large the corpses lag the game. Not a fan. A ton of race packs that add nothing of value to the game beyond character creation but fuck up recruiting so you cant uninstall the mod without losing 75% of your people (no i dont give a flip about being a snowflake scorchlander or a slightly tinted shek). Not a fan. The patrol density feels way way too high. I have gotten into multiple fights that spilled into multiple patrols. The combat density pretty much changes competent from 50 stats to 75 or so. Not a fan of changing combat requirements from organically obtainable combat group or roided solo char to full roided party. Pretty much impossible to be strong in UWE without many many hours of grinding and it breaks the ability to just play. The tech got changed in a way that just ends up being a power tax on the player. If you cant use wind power you run a real risk of just not being able to power an end game base. Not a fan. Fights being tougher is pretty cool though. The enemy variety is nice as well. I like that there are more negatives to picking sides. Overall i like it but i think it would make for a beyond terrible first playthrough. The worst part of the game is feeling you need to cheese/grind stats and uwe definitely pushes that feeling way harder.
I may have been drawing incorrect conclusions. The mist ghoul mod in particular may have cranked up heal rate or something. And i never said 80 toughness alone made you tanky. Just that its enough to stop you from making 200ish hp enemies instantly die. So if the enemy cant be killed outright and cannot die from degen you have an issue. I tried putting one in a peeler just for laughs and pulled it out 1 hp from death. It still recovered (other than no limbs thankfully).
Only met Cat-Long once. In his throne room. I was no where near being able to fight him or his minions.
I had 78 Assasination though. He gave his song, stood up and one shot me in the chest lol.
I didnt die, so when i woke up I managed to sneak behind him and it gave me 16% chance of knockout, and it worked!
Managed to sneak him out of Ashlands and back to base. He is now my advanced training dummy lol. Only problem is, when he hits he might kill me or chop off a leg with his hand lol…😳
So yeah. He is just part of my VIP museum, next to Gorrillo lol
Another kinda cheaty but still vanilla option is stealing some of his clothes while he has them on, that way your hits would deal a little more damage, you have decent stealth and thievery skills, but since the mod tweaks his stats maybe it would be impossible to steal or sneak around him..
I had a decent martial artist (about 80 in all stats) and playing solo required me to do this in a bunch of situations to make them somewhat possible to beat lol
Set up some harpoon guns outside the gates and bate him out and gun him down, a bit of set up but it's faster than training good rangers if you don't have them, I used it for killing him at 150 stats (mod)
Okay but having a battle with the legendary emperor Cat-lon for 20 days straight is metal as fuck and extremely Kenshi coded.
The main problem is that 553 is the cap for all skills, im still holding an edge over him in some areas but through each fighting session he always manages to get some lucky hits(his heavy is 183) and all this does is boost his and my skills. Have you tried microing to avoid his attacks? It's a bit cheesy, but so is 200 strength lol
Legendary of Kenshi redefines what cheese means. When the enemies have the same stats, the playing field is even again.
Train another to be equal to him and tag team him
You try using a crossbow? It is basically cheating
Also with stats like this,i guess this is due to your mods, differences in weapons don't matter that much. Iirc I used the meitu warpick from the slave king since it has 70% armor penetration.
Well I managed to knock catlon out. His weapon is the starthirster. Which one do u thing is better?
Idk, I quit the run after beating him since there was nothing left to do.

I couldn't enjoy uwe, too painful

That doesn't sound like UWE directly. It sounds like you used so many mods along with UWE you got frustrated for poor balance
I have uwe and reactive world. Only other mods are pathfinding fixes. I was using copper drills but uwe has those. Thats it.
That's pretty much exactly my uwe experience lol
80 Toughness is squshy and your wound degen is still high.
I may have been drawing incorrect conclusions. The mist ghoul mod in particular may have cranked up heal rate or something. And i never said 80 toughness alone made you tanky. That's why Most Ghoul hunting is a good mod. Kill these critters fast and get some trophies and cash for it
Peeler.
Your hubristic need to conquer has trapped you in a cycle of violence from which you cannot escape. 10/10 pure Kenshi.
You forgot to level martial arts which durectly impacts your dmg even with weapons. Maybe that will make the difference since he'll never level that
Thanks, but through the next 3 days I finally knocked him out. Stole all his gear and limbs, now he just runs away and don’t wanna fight.
Wait what? Martial arts skill increases weapon damage?
u/FrankieWuzHere fact check?
Thanks for the tag. No it doesn't.
Thanks for confirming
Fr. I honestly think he might know Kenshi better than Chris does now that Chris is working on 2 and might get mixed up between the games.
No it does not.
Fr ?
No.
You hit him till he stops moving
You either win or you die. Kenshi is all about the storylines you create through the gameplay.

Crossbow flinching and micro.

Build a harpoon gun.
Set up some harpoon guns outside the gates and bate him out and gun him down, a bit of set up but it's faster than training good rangers if you don't have them, I used it for killing him at 150 stats (mod)
Haha, well, there is a reason for level cap in kenshi afterall.
Holy shit I didn’t even know you could get past 100 on stats
A crossbow and micro could do the job.
Steal his weapon while he sleeps and fight him with it
X5 attack slot or youre playing wrong
Yeah that is what I’m using, also how you lvl up your skills insanely quickly
