Faget holds a special place in my soul.
I was bullied relentlessly through grades six to twelve and again at home. Each new Korn release helped me navigate my day-to-day snuse, be it bullies, or my step-father. The rage in the end, the "you can suck my dick and fucking like it!" was cathartic, therapeutic, and empowering, all at once.
All my life, who am I?
At the time, I was everyone's punching bag that never punched back. Nowadays, I'm the fluffy death-metal guy too into cats that somehow falls asleep to songs like Faget. It's like a warm hug that reminds me tomorrow will come, and things really will be okay.
Thatnks. It was a long time ago. Korn's first album came out when I was 14. Perfect timing! What's your take on Faget? Does it mean anything special to you?
Haha no kidding! I really like the song and I think itās a beautiful piece of art. The song came out 9 years before I was born š I donāt have much of a special meaning for the song quite yet
Thank you for sharing this! Solidarity.
Iāve always found Jonathanās lyrics and performance so cathartic. Heās a man baring his soul and helps us bare our stories of hurt.
Breakdowns absolutely banging. Drums are so good like the rolling tom fills sorta thing. And my Alexa won't play it unless it randomly comes on. Then I'm like "Alexa what's this song called" "This is *bleeep* by Korn."
Oh really!? Thatās too bad honestly. I wish they could chop it up and play the breakdown part attached to another song. I know they do this a bit, I remember specifically they did it with āsomebody someoneā the ending breakdown was attached to a different song
I remember getting the bus home from school in the late 90s this older student would have the bus driver play one of two cassettes which were either Korn's first album or the Matrix soundtrack, and for some reason Faget and Shoots were the two tracks that played the most during those rides home (as well as Clubbed to Death) so they hold an extra special nostalgic place for me.
Itās net even controversial the song and the context of the word have nothing to do with gay people so idk why people are making a big deal about it, they should revive this song for shows
i actually really like the song. i didnāt want to listen to it just because of the name alone but it genuinely is so catchy. also i kind of relate to it in a way.
Great song! Heavy as f*ck. But for some reason when I listened to it yesterday, my brain turned it into baguette. I'm struggling trying to get that out of my head.
Yeah I donāt know why this is getting downvoted either. I think people are taking āitās a good example of just how homophobic people in the 80ās and 90ās wereā to mean that the song is homophobic, but Iām pretty sure what this person is referring to as being homophobic is the way people treated Jonathan (since that *IS*
what the song is about after all), not that the song itself is being homophobic.
I love that they wrote songs for a bunch of issues that they don't personally face. Like Faget as an example, and dead bodies everywhere being very trans coded. I just love this so much
Faget is about being bullied in school. Dead bodies everywhere is about him trying to live up to his parents expectations/not going into the music business and ending up working in a morticians office. Jon writes about personal experiences, not about issues he doesnāt personally face. Thereās tons of information and interviews online about this if you look for it.
Faget "Everyone thinks I'm bashing gay people in this song, and I'm not. It's really about me going through high school being called 'pussy', 'queer', and all that stuff, about getting picked on by all these jocks."
Dead Bodies Everywhere "That was the song about my parents trying to keep me out of the music business. My father was in it and he knew how it was and I totally understand now that I have a son. I want Nathan to be a musician but I don't want him to go through the hell I went through. That's the same thing my Dad was doing. A lot of people can relate to it, because it's like the dads are wanting their sons to be football players and their sons want to be doctors or something. That peer pressure is like trying to make them something they're really not. And the Dead Bodies thing is like so I did it and all I got out of it was dead bodies everywhere and got all traumatized. Thanks a lot Dad, Mom."
Iām also pretty new to Korn and only found out the meanings recently, fair warning some of the songs have REALLY disturbing meanings, like make you feel physically ill kind of disturbing
Why would you just assume the meaning of songs? People get the meaning of songs wrong all the time, itās perfectly understandable. Dead Bodies Everywhere is very trans coded? š¤¦āāļøš Come on now, itās okay to guess, but to just outright assume some shit that is *that* far off the mark, then to couple that with assuming what the band members have and havenāt gone through in their lives, then have the audacity to go spouting off what you assume as if itās a fact? If you go saying stuff like that to people who donāt know any better, youāre gonna have people believing shit about them that is untrue. From your responses, it seems like youāre pretty open to accepting corrected information, which is a good thing, and to that I would say, look into the meanings of songs from here on out, donāt just assume. Between what the band has said about certain songs, and old discussions scattered across the internet people have had about certain songs over the years, you can discover the actual meaning to the majority of all their old songs.
Yeah and I do with a lot of them but I don't want listening to Korn to be like a research project yknow? Like I get trash, twisted transistor, freak on a leash. I just thought that I assumed right with these songs. Idk I guess I was too proud to not be able to admit that my guess was wrong to myself with these ones coz I really like them tbh
Donāt worry about it, itās completely fair to not know a meaning to a song and thus make your own conclusion. You know now so itās all good! I donāt know the meaning behind twisted transistor though, what is it?
A Fucking Banger
He had my gun, but he had a body mighty, anyway! š£ļøš£ļøš£ļøš£ļøš„š„š„š„
Itās my favorite and the hardest breakdown of all time , undisputed š„š„
I agree, when I play it on guitar I canāt help but to do the full body headbang at that breakdown

Sorry to hear that man, glad we can all come together through music and that you have this music to help you
Thatnks. It was a long time ago. Korn's first album came out when I was 14. Perfect timing! What's your take on Faget? Does it mean anything special to you?

Haha when I ask Siri to play it she just plays the album and wonāt play the song haha. Even when I try and pronounce it differently
Does she say the word bleep or is it a bleep sound where the word is supposed to be?
2nd one lol
I just got Siri to say āthis is faget by Kornā lmao
Siri is unhinged
OG classic. I read somewhere that David said he went wayyy overboard on the drums towards the end but I wouldn't change a thing
Me neither, that snare on the first album goes too hard š©
The snareee ugh so good
Is there really any other way to do it? Lol
Certified banger
Hands down š¤š¼š¤š¼
Best Korn song ! The most psychological and intense. They used to play it live very often, I saw it live 2 times with my own eyes
Itās the length that stop it being on setlist not the topic
Oh really!? Thatās too bad honestly. I wish they could chop it up and play the breakdown part attached to another song. I know they do this a bit, I remember specifically they did it with āsomebody someoneā the ending breakdown was attached to a different song
My favorite Korn song ever. (I am bi and femboy myself)

The best korn song (and Iām not even a guy so I donāt relate to those lyrics)
Itās net even controversial the song and the context of the word have nothing to do with gay people so idk why people are making a big deal about it, they should revive this song for shows
It's a very powerful song. One of my favorites
A song I relate to heavily.
Bad ass, also Deli Girls do a good cover of it.
ALL MY LIFE, WHO AM I
Best korn song ever
Itās my favorite song of theirs.
The song is beautiful
i actually really like the song. i didnāt want to listen to it just because of the name alone but it genuinely is so catchy. also i kind of relate to it in a way.
One of my favorite korn songs
Great song! Heavy as f*ck. But for some reason when I listened to it yesterday, my brain turned it into baguette. I'm struggling trying to get that out of my head.
One of my favorite Korn songs!!
It was the closest thing to relatable queer representation I had around that time.
I feel like Head prolly has qualms about the lyrics he has to sing and they prolly agreed to not play it
Itās a good example of just how homophobic the 80ās and 90ās were.
faget is not a song about jon being homophobic. it's about the homophobic bullying he faced as a teenager despite being straight.
I think that commenter is saying the same thing. The 80s and 90s were homophobic to Jon. Not that Jon is homophobic
possibly š¤
Not sure why you're getting downvoted. The song definitely expresses Jon's feelings of being bullied.

Pretty sure the song faget was about the bullying the john faced and how he was always called a fag growing up!
Oh really? Didn't know that lol

Oh I did not know that lol. Thanks for the info! Still relatively new to Korn so I'm just kinda guessing the meaning of songs I encounter
Iām also pretty new to Korn and only found out the meanings recently, fair warning some of the songs have REALLY disturbing meanings, like make you feel physically ill kind of disturbing
Youāre thinking about Pretty, arenāt you? Thatās gotta be the most horrific song meaning Iāve ever heard of.
Thatās the one, most disturbing song meaning Iāve ever heard of
