I’d be completely lying if I said I wasn’t actually excited about this. I loved Apocolypto it’s one of my all time favorite films. The Passion of the Christ wasn’t my thing but taking a sequel into this gonzo spiritual realm direction has so much potential.

Apocalypto is such an amazing movie in ways not even related to the filming aspect of it. You follow this man on an adventure that's so unlike anything else that has come out in terms of being grounded in the everyday life of Mayan tribes. And it's all spoken in Maya as well.

There are a bunch of psychadelic/trippy sequences in the Bible itself so I can see it being presented as such especially with Christ being resurrected and no longer being confined to the physics of limitations of being human. Might even be kinda spooky if it’s being shown through the perspective of the people encountering supernatural phenomena.

i mean unlike the old testament, we actually have a fairly historically accurate account of jesus’ life theologians have come to the conclusion that the bible is mostly historically accurate besides the miracle shit jesus basically is the same as any spiritual leader you could find in India today except at the time of his life he was a revolutionary. there’s actually a lot about consciousness and enlightenment we can learn from jesus, buddha, others like them. it’s unfortunate that jesus has been mythologized and put on a divine pedestal. it’s of my belief that religion like christianity is pushed so we can’t uncover our true nature as human beings

As far as I remembered historians had agreed that the dude Jesus was based on did exist and likely died at the hands of the Romans but everything else was made up after the fact. There were heretics being crucified all the time and he was just lucky enough to have the right people make and spread propaganda that they made up after his death. They know this dude was baptized and crucified and that’s it as far as facts go At least that’s what I remember

my source is a class i took at university this past semester. the new testament was only written like 40 years after jesus had died as opposed to the centuries that were between the events of the old testament and when it was actually written. jesus’s teachings are still historically documented and are in line with a lot of other spirituality and philosophy thinkers and teachers throughout history and cultures if you’re interested you could check out thomas jefferson’s rewriting of the gospels from a more scientific and historical perspective

I feel like there's a *ton* of sources ( I had a book about this 8/9 years ago) that went into great detail about a monastery in the Himalayas that the historical Jesus went and learned at for a few years, during the "unknown years" of Jesus
