Have you tried the apprentice welder program at the college? https://calendar.lethbridgecollege.ca/programs/welder-apprenticeship/

Short-Boss3715

Not that specificity I’ve recently completed and passed the pre employment course.

Morberis

Charlton Hill maybe. Go in person to Southland Trailer. Try and get any job there and then apply for apprentice welder when they're hiring for it. Or after a few months working there. Employers might be gunshy if you failed the written portion of the test, I dunno. I don't know welding.

Aware_Dust2979

Gross Charlton Hill. He will hate it there.

Morberis

Very possibly. But it's a foot in the door. I'm not sure what it's like after their bankruptcy either.

Aware_Dust2979

I have never heard anyone say anything positive about them.

DexWoosky

Just horrible, survived better oart of a year there as a mechanic apprentice, l didnt really learn much i wasnt taught in school, got good at fabricating and making hydraulic hoses. That's it, they hired people with no experience and then expected me to teach their new hires whi had less than half a brain. Found myself fixing others mistakes constantly.

Short-Boss3715

Yeah bet I’d have better luck in person thanks !!

Seventhchild7

Every farm needs another man, this time of year.

platypus_bear

not really yet for the most part. right now things are gearing up a bit but mostly just the current staff. It's august or so that things really gear up

TidalCheyange

Just keep taking your technical training. You can take all 4 back to back if you want.. Then you can get the hours after. While you're in there, make connections. That's pretty much the whole point of technical training, honestly. And look on the government job posting site. That's where you'll find a lot of jobs. Lethbridge is gonna be slim pickings. While you're young, it's worthwhile to move to where the work is.

Clax3242

Go work the rigs for 2 weeks. Welders are a hot commodity

Intelligent-Soil8489

It’s not that easy. The rig I usually work on right now is on spring break up. Like maaaany other rigs. If there is work, they try to give it to the guys that have been there a while. Finding work is not easy nowadays.

New-Courage8515

Try Southland Trailers, they're always hiring welders

Short-Boss3715

I’ve done a job shadow a southland trailers i welded everything asked and helped where I could… but its something against me personally..because while I was doing my job shadow I noticed someone who I took pre-employment with, who failed the weld tests and failed the course yet he was hired rather then me… I also noticed some other welder struggling and burning holes into thin plate and while I was there I did the correct procedure and didn’t burn holes I did a fine job, yet not hired… it’s hard finding a job in lethbridge anywhere would be very appreciated thanks for the help so far 👌🙏
