Lmao that’s hilarious. It was not a memorable movie. The only thing I remember for sure is that her mother was working in the rainforest studying spiders.
I don’t follow your reasoning. I hate watched it because it was known to be terrible. You have to know and follow the source material to hate watch? This is the first time ever that I’ve heard there was a show. Who cares why I did it let me live, dog.
yes because the reason it was widely hated was because it didn’t follow the source material. something you shouldn’t give a shit about because you never saw it. way to get on the bandwagon, just mainlined the Kool aid
Hijacking this to say shame on everyone downvoting the guy who got confused and thought you meant Dev Patel was in Madame Web, y'all had multiple signs the guy was NOT talking about The Last Airbender but ignored them opting to roast and downvote him thinking he was just trolling. Or somehow not catching that he's talking about the movie in OP's screenshot, context clues anyone?? Big ups to the guy that pointed out to him that no one could put two and two together.
It looks gorgeous, and the action set pieces are well done. I never watched the tv show, so I don’t care about changing the story or the characters but yeah the writing was definitely the weak point. Still a 1.1/5 is too harsh. I’d give it like 2.5, definitely not the worst film ever

Cause M Night has a great visual eye and knows where to place the camera. Why am I getting shit for just calmly stating my opinion on a movie?
Shades of The Wizard of Oz before the curtain is pulled back to expose him. Replace the Wizard with an angry poster hiding behind a phone or computer... you are allowed to state your opinion of a movie. That's what a forum is for...

Cats.
I feel like everyone forgot about Cats
What is the average cost of a star? $10 million? Stars-above-replacement rate
Then do multi-variant regression analysis for awards by type (actors, production, writing, etc.) and see if there's any correlation between audience reception or movie budget expenses.
Basically, once you crack this code you can create the most profitable, best movie ever made. Then make a movie about making that movie and call it *Moneybox.*
Which then pans out slowly revealing a sinister, laboratory /live-feed screening room observing Pitt’s production company’s making of ‘the making of’ *Moneybox*, overseen by Angelina Jolie
How would that work for films that don't have a known budget, or have a budget that is only estimated/between a range? This is extremely common for obscure films and even larger films with dozens of different strands of funding.
overall, madame web wasn’t as bad as i thought it would be (it was mostly just boring) but the villain gives what is probably the worst performance i have ever seen in any film, ever. he goes toe-to-toe with tommy wiseau in the Room. every time he spoke i could not believe how awful he was.
From what it looks like, they did a lot of reshoots to remove references to Spider-Man and add in the tribal storyline and Dakota’s trip to the Amazon. I think the villains origin story is what took the hardest hit.
I read that his motive and storyline was completely different. Had something to do with time travel. IMO they decided to rewrite this as a stand alone during production when mobius failed so they could try a different approach through the spider verse movies.
> madame web wasn’t as bad as i thought it would be
I rate the diner scene set to Spears' Toxic as the worst five minutes of my 2024 so far. So to me it's very very bad
I wish I could of been bored, me and my friend were just laughing so much. I did have a few brews in me. I fucking love how the main peeps of the movie have no idea what is happening and keep saying out loud how they don't know what is going on. This is like an hour into the movie. Every time they cut to the office with Spider Boy and his friend from girls and they do behind the monitors shot, I took a sip. Also Pepsi has more screen time then the spider boy of the movie. It's perfect.
I mean don't get me wrong, I get tons of enjoyment out of terrible movies. Freddy Got Fingered, The Room, Surf Ninjas, etc, I own tons of terrible movies that I get lots of laughs out of watching. Web wasn't one of them....there were a few times I laughed at how bad it was, but mostly it was just so damn boring.
Edit: replying then blocking, nice cowardly move lol. And getting this worked up to start making accusations over saying madame web is boring, you've got problems.
That reminds me of an old Stallone film, Cobra. There is Pepsi signage everywhere. There's a scene which I'm pretty sure was only set in a supermarket so that Stallone could stand near Pepsi products, and later on there's a big fight scene in front of a simply enormous neon Pepsi sign.
It's a mixed bag. It's not great but it's nowhere near as bad as is being made out. There's even a joke early on which shows - at least at that point - it's not taking itself too seriously.
And that's him from *Severanc*e, and that's[ Reality Winner](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M8KleuJdhZw) - one of the best acting performances I've ever seen. This *can't* be that bad.
But are they really going to hang around in this forest all day?
Apparently not. They're trying **NOT** to attract attention by **table dancing** in a diner instead.
Still it's not like comic book movies are paragons of logic.
That Evil Villain is about as sinister as a teddy bear.
Then, the ending....
I take it all back. It's the worst film in the history of cinema :-)
Yeah I gave it a one star after I watched it but I do admit it is hilariously bad. I’ll definitely check out again to watch it along with Rifftrax or something like that.
Rebel Moon 2 is much worse if you ask me. Not even a tad hilarious, just… dull
One of the best? Let's not get nuts lmao
In all seriousness there's a few great MCU movies, a lot of good ones, and the rest are just forgettable. I put Eternals in that category but to each their own.
Disagree. I liked Ant-Man 3 and Black Widow. I thought Eternals was slightly better than The Marvels. I thought Dark World was at least a whole star better than The Marvels.
Edit: the people downvoting opinions on here eat paint chips
Yeah, no hate but it’s just crazy to me that someone would hate an MCU movie that much that they would consider it to be almost as bad as Madame Web. My least favorite MCU movie is The Incredible Hulk, and I gave it 2 stars and can definitely see why someone would like it.
The Marvels certainly isn’t their worst movie. It’s all subjective obviously but I’m surprised anyone could dislike a Marvel movie more than Black Widow. (Secret Invasion being the worst MCU project ever).
I cannot be the only person who enjoyed Madame Web. Perhaps the fact that I watched it in 4DX added to the experience, but it was certainly not as bad as some reviews make it out to be.
$50 million but this was such a flop

I really think there was a lot of hysteria over this movie - it was alright, no worse than a lot of other marvel stuff
it certainly had some glaring technical issues but the idea that this is one of the worst films ever made is absurd, it’d leagues more enjoyable than Morbius or Cats etc
Ratings aside... this film isn't even as bad as people make out... it's done more for depicting reluctant motherhood and abandonment than Aronofsky ever could. I feel like the hate was a hype train. I would place a bet on a large proportion of the reviews/ratings being from people that didn't watch it. Yes, the ADD sucked and it's a weird movie in parts but it has its moments.
Ah, I see you got chipped by my comment. Literally go and read my review about it. I'll stand by it. I only watched it recently as to avoid the h8-train.
Edit: Review link [https://boxd.it/6wNAJl](https://boxd.it/6wNAJl)

I get genuinely sad whenever I remember Dev Patel was in this
He was the only slightly ok part of the movie.
I hate watched this and I don’t remember Dev Patel in this movie.
He was Zuko. He looks super different without a beard lol.
That dude definitely gets more handsome with each passing year
Ah yes, the character name which I for sure remember lol. Was he the ambulance driver guy or the mystic shaman guy?
[удалено]
Waitttt. Is he the villain?? I could just look it up I guess.
Lmao that’s hilarious. It was not a memorable movie. The only thing I remember for sure is that her mother was working in the rainforest studying spiders.
If you're gonna hate watch the movie, why would you not know the show it's based on?
I don’t follow your reasoning. I hate watched it because it was known to be terrible. You have to know and follow the source material to hate watch? This is the first time ever that I’ve heard there was a show. Who cares why I did it let me live, dog.

Wow, didn't know it was that low.
My mind immediately went to TLA and I can’t think of anything else that would contend.
It's like the fourth lowest on the site overall or something, so it's probably the answer.
Deserved. Outside of botching the tv show, there is zero reason to even watch it.
I watched it so that it could beat my previously lowest ranked movie. I want to find the worst movie ever
Spring breakers is a pretty awful movie. Watched it a few months ago.
It looks gorgeous, and the action set pieces are well done. I never watched the tv show, so I don’t care about changing the story or the characters but yeah the writing was definitely the weak point. Still a 1.1/5 is too harsh. I’d give it like 2.5, definitely not the worst film ever
I dont know how it looks gorgeous. The CGi is atrocious and the production design looks phony.
https://preview.redd.it/897a6yoozu3d1.jpeg?width=800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c13770f7b53e76c8348d00718c4e0011cabc1ae2 Cause M Night has a great visual eye and knows where to place the camera. Why am I getting shit for just calmly stating my opinion on a movie?
Visuals don't matter so much when the rest of the movie butchers the legend that is A:TLA.
Well like I said, I never watched the show so I can’t say anything about the so called “butchery”
Sad to see you being down voted Love a good controversial movie opinion, mine is eragon
Shades of The Wizard of Oz before the curtain is pulled back to expose him. Replace the Wizard with an angry poster hiding behind a phone or computer... you are allowed to state your opinion of a movie. That's what a forum is for...
Lol I’m not angry just mostly confused why people still hate this inoffensive movie
Unless a movie is insulting ethnicities, religions, medical conditions, I can't imagine why people hate an inoffensive movie. They're just miserable.
As soon as Nelson Peltz forced his daughter casting, that movie had no shot
And then to see occasional comments here or on subreddits with people thinking that garbage was good...they clearly haven't watched A:TLA.
No one can even ironically enjoy last airbender because of how hard it shits on one of the most beloved and critical acclaimed childhood shows ever.
It’s not even a fun messy disaster or anything. It’s just a boring, whitewashed, terrible adaption of a great show.
Shyamalanadingdong is the in joke

Because everyone wants to forget this monstrosity.🤮
If I died during the pandemic this would’ve been the last movie I saw in theaters 😭
That's why you didn't die. The devil is evil, but he's not cruel.
imagine they saw the rise of skywalker instead
Ryan George's pitch meeting is still the best Cats related entertainment.
worthikids bigtop burger webseries has Cats in its lore so i go with that
Is this with or without buttholes
Sadly without. I'm sure the buttholes adds value.
I'm sure that due to the values of realism, addition of butthole would have given 1.0 extra on average.
didn’t come close to making $100m though.
I assumed they meant $100M budget
Same honestly.
cats also didn’t have a $100m budget.
Wikipedia says 80-100 million for the budget
deadline had $80-90m and in the reception section of the wiki page the budget is pegged at $95m. but fair enough.
How do you know?
by looking at the reporting on it.
I would love to have budget as a sortable category on LB.
I would like that.
What is the average cost of a star? $10 million? “You’re all trying to replace Brad Pitt. I’m saying we can’t do that. But we can recreate him in the aggregate.”
Haha. That movie, with Brad Pitt evaluating himself (or himself in the aggregate) for inclusion into *Moneybox*, adds a couple more meta levels.
Which then pans out slowly revealing a sinister, laboratory /live-feed screening room observing Pitt’s production company’s making of ‘the making of’ *Moneybox*, overseen by Angelina Jolie

I think his dialogue has all been redubbed, which is why it gives The Room vibes
That was really clear to me. What I don't understand is why. I can't find any information online about why they did that.
From what it looks like, they did a lot of reshoots to remove references to Spider-Man and add in the tribal storyline and Dakota’s trip to the Amazon. I think the villains origin story is what took the hardest hit.

I think it was just lazy ADR work
Happy Death Day as a super hero movie with a spider-man stand in as the slasher is a legitimately interesting idea. This movie just failed to deliver.
yeah this movie definitely wasnt as bad as some of the newer MCU films for sure
You cannot be serious.
Morbius aswell
You people are ridiculous.
yeah the stupidest part in this film was the final scene. Thor Love and Thunder was a horrific stupid nightmare in every scene
Exactly
> madame web wasn’t as bad as i thought it would be I rate the diner scene set to Spears' Toxic as the worst five minutes of my 2024 so far. So to me it's very very bad
it is bad. just not as bad as i thought it’d be. and to be fair i think the final scene in Madame Web was the most ridiculous scene in the film

This. Horrendous. I gave up after a few minutes
aw it works for me as "so bad it's good" I have probably watched it 3 times lol.
Catwoman and Fant4stic are both lower no?
You're right. Fan4stic is lower, Catwoman the same.

THIS is what I was looking for.
Catwoman
I bet 100% most of the budget for this film was embezzled.
Only cowards who hate fun and pepsi rate this low.
Where was the fun? I must have missed it....I was bored out of my mind, besides the couple times I got to laugh at how bad it was.
I wish I could of been bored, me and my friend were just laughing so much. I did have a few brews in me. Pepsi?
a reference to: >!product placement kills the villain during the final battle. lol!<
That reminds me of an old Stallone film, Cobra. There is Pepsi signage everywhere. There's a scene which I'm pretty sure was only set in a supermarket so that Stallone could stand near Pepsi products, and later on there's a big fight scene in front of a simply enormous neon Pepsi sign.
the movie has ridiculous levels of product placement to an almost plot-relevant level
He plays a integral roll to the plot.
It's not a $100 million movie, it's $83 million
It's a mixed bag. It's not great but it's nowhere near as bad as is being made out. There's even a joke early on which shows - at least at that point - it's not taking itself too seriously. HER WEB CONNECTS THEM ALL
I upgraded it to 4* on my second watch!
her web connects everything 🙏
TBH Madame Web isn't even that bad. It's at least entertaining. MCU has some way worse or AS bad entries.
I don't know how many times I've read "it's at least entertaining" when it comes to MCU movies now.
I just put "watchable".
Yeah I gave it a one star after I watched it but I do admit it is hilariously bad. I’ll definitely check out again to watch it along with Rifftrax or something like that. Rebel Moon 2 is much worse if you ask me. Not even a tad hilarious, just… dull
It’s especially more entertaining if you make a drinking game out of it haha
Haha yeah, like a shot every time Pepsi is shown, you might end up in the hospital for that!
There are no movies in the MCU that are worse than Madame Web. Even the worst one, The Marvels, is a half step above Madame Web.
The Marvels is far from the worst MCU movie, Ant-Man 3, Black Widow, Dark World and Eternals are all far far worse than the Marvels .
Eternals is one of the best imo. It actually tried to be different with mostly positive results
One of the crazy hot takes I agree with. Don't really understand why people hate it so much.
One of the best? Let's not get nuts lmao In all seriousness there's a few great MCU movies, a lot of good ones, and the rest are just forgettable. I put Eternals in that category but to each their own.
Black Widow was half-decent but fell for overwrought spy drama instead of hyping up the family dynamic that it really set up initially.
Disagree. I liked Ant-Man 3 and Black Widow. I thought Eternals was slightly better than The Marvels. I thought Dark World was at least a whole star better than The Marvels. Edit: the people downvoting opinions on here eat paint chips
Half step? I get it’s all subjective but in my eyes the worst MCU movies are at least like three whole staircases above Madame Web
I really hated The Marvels haha Edit: who is downvoting? Just comment and explain why you disagree.
Yeah, no hate but it’s just crazy to me that someone would hate an MCU movie that much that they would consider it to be almost as bad as Madame Web. My least favorite MCU movie is The Incredible Hulk, and I gave it 2 stars and can definitely see why someone would like it.
I gave Madame Web 1.5 stars and The Marvels 2 stars
The marvels is definitely not the worst mcu movie
It is to me. And I love Brie Larson. Bottom three movies to me are The Marvels, Shang Chi, and Eternals.
Quantumania is considerably worse than madame web
I liked Quantumania. I think that and Love & Thunder are severely underrated.
Quantumania is legitimately one of the worst movies I’ve ever seen.
I think you need to watch more movies then haha
Why would I watch more bad movies lol
If that's one of the worst movies you've ever seen, I'm just assuming you don't watch a lot
I’ve seen a few movies. I have about 1400 logged on letterboxed and Ant man 3 is one of the very few half stars I’ve given out.
I rated the first Thor movie lower than Madame Web tbqh
You know nothing about films. The original Thor is a classic. Madame web is very poor film.
i’m sorry but this is like the funniest response I could have gotten
The Marvels certainly isn’t their worst movie. It’s all subjective obviously but I’m surprised anyone could dislike a Marvel movie more than Black Widow. (Secret Invasion being the worst MCU project ever).
I thought Black Widow was a good movie. It's ranked #23 in my MCU rankings.
I have it dead last for MCU movies. What’s your number 1?
Guardians 3. You?
Endgame is my number 1, but if we count all their projects it’s Loki.

I respect any top 10 with all three guardians
Madame web isn't mcu. It's Sony standalone
Nobody said it was MCU
I cannot be the only person who enjoyed Madame Web. Perhaps the fact that I watched it in 4DX added to the experience, but it was certainly not as bad as some reviews make it out to be.

Pan 2015
John Carter?
My guesses were Catwoman and Son of the Mask, but I think Letterboxd ratings are a little lower for some others listed here
I really think there was a lot of hysteria over this movie - it was alright, no worse than a lot of other marvel stuff it certainly had some glaring technical issues but the idea that this is one of the worst films ever made is absurd, it’d leagues more enjoyable than Morbius or Cats etc
Hot take: Madame Web isn’t that bad, I gave it a 2.5
Somehow the Star Wars prequels aren't rated that low
Or sequels
Ratings aside... this film isn't even as bad as people make out... it's done more for depicting reluctant motherhood and abandonment than Aronofsky ever could. I feel like the hate was a hype train. I would place a bet on a large proportion of the reviews/ratings being from people that didn't watch it. Yes, the ADD sucked and it's a weird movie in parts but it has its moments.
“How can I be different for attention today?”
Ah, I see you got chipped by my comment. Literally go and read my review about it. I'll stand by it. I only watched it recently as to avoid the h8-train. Edit: Review link [https://boxd.it/6wNAJl](https://boxd.it/6wNAJl)
I don’t care enough to click that link tbh
just enough to comment
Exactamondo
It's the best comedy of the year and people are sleeping on it because social media told them too.
Agree it is fucking funny tbh... one look at S.J. Clarkson's writing credits would tell that this isn't dumb cinema, this is self-aware tongue in cheek camp comedy.
it's one of my fav So bad it's good movies in awhile. Last big budget one that I can think off the top of my head was Wish Upon and Lucy?
We talking Scarlett Johansson, Lucy? Cos that film was terrible to the point of batshit sublime.
Whenever she turned into a USB drive at the end of the movie, my friend and I died of laughter at the theater. One of the best dumb ass endings to a movie. Loved it.
hahahah... at least she's still got compatibility... maybe not in a few more years though. they'l have to make sure they transfer that data clean lol
