Emma Watson's worked with Alfonso Cuaron, Sofia Coppola, Darren Aronofsky, and Greta Gerwig.

trimonkeys

She’s also the weak link in most of those films.

gnomechompskey

I think it’s rather surprising and impressive that despite a paltry filmography (between 1998-2011 he was only in the 3 Rush Hour movies) and limited range, Chris Tucker has managed to work with Quentin Tarantino, Ang Lee, David O. Russell, Luc Besson, and Ben Affleck (also The Hughes Brothers and F. Gary Gray who may not be great but are notable).

Im_abZtrakt

David Bowie worked with Martin Scorsese, Christopher Nolan and David Lynch in some smaller supporting roles.

Adept_Possibility724

That's a great example, one of the great musical artists of our time working with great directors. He also worked with Nagisa Oshima for Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence and Nicholas Roeg for The Man Who Fell to Earth.

Inside_Atmosphere731

You're forgetting John Landis

TasteActual

Mark Wahlberg, with PTA, Scorsese and David O. Russell and he gave good or even great performances

ConversationOld3478

And Peter Jackson in the lovely bones

Neal Huff is a name practically no one will know (though you may recognize his face) and he’s almost always relegated to small parts but has been directed by Steven Spielberg, Wes Anderson, Ang Lee, Robert De Niro, Kelly Reichardt, Tony Gilroy, Tom McCarthy, M. Night Shyamalan, and Trey Edward Shults.

SeeTeeAbility

Dave Bautista - Dune : Denis Villeneuve - Guardians Of The Galaxy : James Gunn - Spectre : Sam Mendes - Knock At The Cabin : M. Night Shyamalan

Charlie_Westmoreland

Also Blade Runner 2049 with Denis

ThuggerSosaYak

Is James Gunn really considered a great director? Besides guardians of the galaxy which are good, the rest of his movies are all either mediocre or pretty bad

SeeTeeAbility

Yeah im not sure if Gunn would be classed as a great director but he is defo a notable director to have worked with

asmartguylikeyou

Slither is excellent, but would also agree he isn’t a Great Director.

FBG05

I thought The Suicide Squad and Slither were good, but yeah I don’t think he really qualifies as a great director

threadbaremuse

Might be an unpopular opinion, but Margaret Qualley - Yorgos Lanthimos, Ethan Coen, Tarantino.

Prestigious_Crab6256

Sandler in *Uncut Gems* was already picked, but Sandler working with PTA for *Punch Drunk Love* is the first thing that pops in my head. I thought he did great.

Toadforpresident

I'll go Schwarzenegger, big name but not someone you associate necessarily with top tier directors. He's worked with James Cameron (Terminator), Paul Verhoeven (Total Recall), and technically Robert Altman (he has a bit part in the Long Goodbye). Also worked with Ivan Reitman, who did make the original Ghostbusters, and Stallone.

Electrical_Fun5942

He also worked with Bob Rafelson (Stay Hungry) who was a huge name back then, directing Five Easy Pieces, The King of Marvin Gardens, and The Postman Always Rings Twice. Not to mention Walter Hill (Red Sonja), John McTiernan (Predator), and Joel Schumacher (Batman & Robin)

Slitherama

Obvious pick, but the Sandman in Uncut Gems. He was a comedy icon that for the past several years was wholly devoted to making shitty family comedies as excuses to hang with the boys who suddenly decided to show everyone he could give an A+ performance in an artsier, yet entirely accessible thriller. Pretty awesome move.

Adept_Possibility724

And PTA!

MadeIndescribable

David Hewlett's been cast in a few del Toro films now, and although he has been kinda typcast as the neurotic beurocratic type, it is for a reason and he does it well.

[deleted]

Jon Voight, of *Baby Geniuses* fame, worked with some great directors like Hal Ashby, Michael Mann and Coppola. Was very surprised by his range!

ConversationOld3478

Keanu Reeves (Bad actor imo) has worked with Francis Ford Copolla, Kenneth Branagh, Gus Van Sant, Richard Linklater, Nicolas Winding Refn and Catherine Bigelow.

Literally the best definition of an A-lister there is, the biggest movie star in the world for 25 years. The thread is explicitly about actors not like that.

sKY--alex

We have this terrible terrible actor in Germany, Til Schweiger. His films are successful but no one who’s really into films likes them, and even though his movies are profitable anyway, he still gets a major part from our public film funding. And he played Hugo Stiglitz in Tarantinos Inglorious Basterds. We have many talented actors, why did Tarantino pick this idiot?

StrenghtandStrategy

Lucas Hedges - Gerwig, Wes Anderson, McDonagh, Shults, Soderbergh and Gilliam.

Inside_Atmosphere731

Chloe Grace Moretz

Is it worth mentioning in a thread specifically not about the A-listers whose roster of impressive directors are always the point of discussion around this topic, with Cruise inevitably the first or second name given his filmography? Seems like entering a thread about how everyone knows a lot of A-list actors are shorter than they seem onscreen, but who's the most surprisingly tall and replying with "Obviously he's not tall, but Danny DeVito is only 4'10."
