Competitive_Big_5874

True indeed. I feel this even more regarding live shows. Every other band seems to lack something.

camoreli

Ok I love LP, and they're fantastic live, but there are MUCH better live bands.

Expensive-Opposite52

I think the word your looking for is "relatability". This is such a strong force in any aspect of music, and other bands, while being amazing, just don't relate to our emotions as much as LP's music does. The reason many fans come to LP in the first place is because they are broken and lost(no pun intended), and they are looking for a way to harness those emotions. LP does this really well and it's done so well that other bands have a difficult time replicating it. I hope that's what your looking for.

No2282

This is exactly how I feel there's just a magic element in linkin park's music that I just can't seem to find anywhere else. I can listen to the same song over and over and it never gets old.

_raydeStar

Hybrid theory then meteora told me you could just have perfect CDs from start to end. Then you see another band. "Y no perfect!?"

TmanZ99

Three Days Grace, Nirvana and Avenged Sevenfold are other bands with perfect Albums

DeviousCham

Add Coheed and Cambria to this list.

TmanZ99

Which album of theirs would you say is perfect?

DeviousCham

They are all perfect - but Afterman 1/2 is peak if you need a starting place.

TmanZ99

Ah I see so far all I've heard from them was welcome home

wizzyULTIMATEbreed

On the contrary. For me, LP is my gateway band growing up. Without them, I would have never gotten into listening to other bands with a heavy style and some relatable lyrics I can vent to. Plus, they made rap-rock cool for me, so I owe them this.

DeepFriedPlastic

Oh yeah absolutely, I credit LP for my taste in music to this very day but I still listen to their songs as a sort of comfort treat

Proculos

Same. Linkin Park introduced me to rock in general. Today they're not my favorite band anymore but I'll be forever grateful to them for that

wizzyULTIMATEbreed

Even if LP returns with a new album, it's personally not gonna be the same without Chester. Yes, the band existed before him, led by Mike, but the two of them together created a sound that many have imitated, but can never duplicate the style. It feels like the band is incomplete…

TheGunters777

I honestly thought I was the only one. I have my other fav bands too. But LP was #1

Bluetickhoun

Try Rise Against. They’re an amazing band with great lyrics great punk sound.

DeepFriedPlastic

Agreed! Linkin Park takes the cake for me but Rise Against is a VERY close second

dado753

Yes I'm just starting to listen to them and I absolutely love them. Can you recommend me some of their underrated gems?

Bluetickhoun

Siren song of the counter culture. Whole album! The sufferer and the witness. Whole album! Endgame. Whole album. Lol. Seriously. Songs…. Everchanging (acoustic), satellite, lanterns. Try those 3 songs first then those albums. Let me know too

80pro0f

Not related to OP’s topic, but this quote: “…trying to find something similar in sound and emotional impact but in the end…” I can’t be the only one who read those last three words in Chester’s voice

liltooclinical

I'm trying so hard...

Scared_PomV2

I feel that lol. No band has ever come close to replacing Hybrid Theory, Meteora, and Reanimation. I listen and love a lot of music...but these albums are just so fucking good and have so many feelings attached. I can guarantee I wont ever find albums that cause the same effect on me as these do.

swepttheleg

For me it’s the guitars and the drums. Not other band has those quite like LP. I can tell exactly what band it is just from a tiny snippet without any vocals.

Misantrophic_Birch

Yeah I have to agree that LP is the only band where I know and enjoy all of their songs. Even the ones I don’t really like, I do actually like. If that makes sense lol. I have that with no other band or artist at all. The closest I’ve come is older Coldplay sometimes, and much more recently Imagine Dragons. But LP have the ‘can come back to this anytime, listen to it on repeat, never get bored’ quality. At least for me they do. I used to think it was a lot of nostalgia, but tbh I listened to a lot of other stuff back then along with HT and Meteora, and none of the other bands remotely stuck with me as much…

wbasmith

try The Cure or Korn bud, different ends of a similar spectrum, both bands endorse Linkin Park

toxicemo88

Try Hollywood undead

Batata_espacial_d20

I've been through this before, and one band that I liked a lot was Deftones, especially the album "diamond eyes". It's melodic, it helped me get through a moment where I was broken 'cause I almost lost a friend who tried to commit suicide, the song I listened to the most was "Risk". They have several light songs, such as "sextape" and "rosemary" and heavier ones (especially if you consider the album adrenaline and their masterpiece album "around the fur") such as "headup" or "7 words". Hope you guys give it a try if you don't know them

xemobox

I was able to find a few bands that would end up having the same impact on me that Linkin Park had. However, whenever someone sends me someone with the mention “I think you’d like it, it kinda sounds like Linkin Park”, I get overly critical and end up disliking it automatically.

Plankton-Inevitable

I agree that Linkin Park is a great band, they really got me into mysic. You could maybe check out Flaw's first album - Through the Eyes. I've been jamming it a lot lately, and the vocals are really good on it. It might hit a similar spot to Linkin Park, just without the rapping

Nearby_Disaster_1016

Wow.Wow.Wow. Thank you so much for this one

Plankton-Inevitable

No worries :)

-Randomedia-

I honestly like the band Dry Cell as well. It's a shame they weren't around that long. They kind of remind me of LP's early days.

raininashoe

I totally understand how this feels. I've felt that way until I realized that there was one thing that actually made me feel exactly the same as Chester Bennington. Uilleann pipes. It scratches the same itch for me. I hope to see an Uilleann piper join Linkin Park.

consumingconfusing00

The only other band that’s hit anywhere close to Linkin Park has been Movements

Yushaidey

I have the same problem but somehow I can hear to Deftones daily. Idk why, maybe the atmosphere of their song are quite similiar to LP.

Earenda

I know what you mean, for me the only band that comes close is Muse. Older albums like ‘Absolution’ and ‘Black Holes and Revelations’ are truly special. Also saw them live 4 times and had a great experience. I still miss Chester though :(

Fear2010

From my experience with LP’s catalog, I still enjoy a lot of their stuff. Unlike other bands who are similarly on par with them or more bigger than them in the mainstream (Coldplay, Maroon 5, Imagine Dragons, Fall Out Boy, and Panic! At The Disco) they were more balanced with their musical styles and not all trend-hopping who mostly continued the essence of the 90’s with the right material. They’re basically one of the best bands to make the best type of music in the mainstream, and they still deserve to have more streams and sales.

hoefromengland

SO REALLLL

Huge_Kitchen_6929

Chester was a fan of Twenty One Pilots. I’m sure you’ve heard Stressed Out and Heathens but a lot of their deeper tracks and some on their newest album remind me a lot of LP. Their lyrics have a similar depth to me.

AviculariaBee

If you want emotional impact then try Sleep Token, they don't sound like LP but all 3 albums plus their EP's and covers are perfection. Complete emotional rollercoaster.

MissyAlissa64

I feel this. This happened with me earlier this year when I discovered the experimental band called Ulver. Their stuff was so mind blowing to me that I couldn't find anything else that made me feel like that for the longest time

Crawlingfrombeneath

Absolutely! Linkin Park WAS my childhood, literally. The only other music I listened to was on the radio, and that wasn't by choice. Since 2017, I have tried other bands and artists, and they are all lacking. Everything from bands people say fans of LP should try, to just bands I've come across. There are some bands I find that catch my eye, but they always lack something for me. Alot of that comes down to Mike and Chester's songwriting and production really resonating with me. I love how abstract their lyrics can get, as an artist I guess its natural that the abstract lyrics they use to describe emotions really has a big impact on me. I haven't come across songwriting I like more honestly. Its the same with Mike and Brad's producing. I cannot fault it. I love its simplicity, but I especially love its depth. I remember hearing In My Remains live for the first time, and I never noticed that high-pitched synth in the chorus, but now I can't unhear it. I love getting to do that. With other producers its like, either or. Either the song is immensely complex with a lot of detail and in turn overwhelming, or its too simple, and dull. This was one of my biggest issues with the songs on OML. I loved them, but they didn't have the same level of depth their other stuff has. I mean I could do an academic presentation arguing for simplicity+depth as a creative philosophy in college using Powerless from Living Things, and I ended up getting my professor into Linkin Park because of it! After years of searching I've simply accepted that no other band or artist will fill the void of Linkin Park. The only band that comes close is Twenty One Pilots, nobody else, and I find them lacking in a lot of areas, but they nail the areas that really count for me. But honestly I'm okay with this. I'm okay with listening to Linkin Park forever, as long as Mike Shinoda keeps releasing music and Twenty One Pilots keep releasing music, I'll still have new music to look forward to.

Nearby_Disaster_1016

Exactly! So many songs just feel dull compared to LP

LeaderAntique1169

I'm older so I get why so many people are drawn to them. When I was younger (much younger, my first ever live show was in 74) Rush was the band that did that for me. And to this day, nobody else comes close. I was 40 when I first heard One Step Closer and even at that age, it spoke to me. I'm 64 now, saw Linkin Park somewhere between 15 and 20 times and I never thought I'd have a SECOND band that I was so into. And yet, that band is Linkin Park. I own a lot of music - my library is ginormous - but Rush and Linkin Park are the only bands where I own everything they've ever done.

moisidis01

Wow. You echo my thoughts almost exactly. Very well said on your part. I also like Radiohead and think extremely highly of them but they still don’t hold a candle to LP. Just a little too soft when at times I wish they would pick up the guitar/drums and go a little harder at times. LP’s sound is so distinct but the Chester/Mike combo along with the brilliant song writing just sets them apart. I also love every one of their albums but believe it or not A Thousand Suns is my favorite.

Nearby_Disaster_1016

A thousand suns is my favourite too

cyclinator

Linkin Park has been my favorite band while in my teens and tweens. But I have thoroughly enjoy other bands too. Recent years it´s Twenty One Pilots.

Plastic-Permission75

TDG works for me very well especially this old stuff of they's

Initial_Grand309

The first two albums ruined linkin park’s entire other discography for me

NicolasandKara

in my case, Radiohead totally overtook Linkin Park's place in my music, I rarely listen to LP now, and I listen to RH everyday.

EricS53

They haven't ruined other bands for me, but they really spoiled me as far as having a whole catalog of songs from start to finish that I can sit through and listen to. Usually every two months or so l'll go on a kick and just listen to every album straight through, and I haven't found another band with 3 or more albums worth of songs that I can just sit and listen through without a desire to skip some. Really, it also made me realize that people weren't being picky when they say "oh, so and so band really fell off after this point" cause I never thought LP did even when some said so, and then I try listening to bands and really do have some albums I love and some that just don't do it for me.

Buster101214

For me Gojira is a progressive metal band, that no other band can compare to. They are actually touring with KoRn and Spiritbox, I think a lot of LP fans would enjoy one of these shows

SuperAgentAlyx

Twenty Øne Piløts is the peanut butter to Linkin Park's jelly. Really good music that often has a theme in common.

FireIsFuzzy

They're probably the best at what they do "in their niche," but there are other bands that have a niche figured out that works perfectly for them.

PandaTheGreatest

Compare 'Shadow of the Day' or 'Crawling' to 'Love Me Do' or 'Yellow Submarine'.

LordMartingale

I’m probably a little older but RHCP is right up there with LP for me. I listen to both equally, which for me is daily. I find Tom Petty to be uplifting and dark depending on the song. Big fan.

Suitable-Can7062

There will never be another Chester or Mike or just Linkin park in general because its a unique circumstance same with Micheal Jackson and Tupac. There's a lot of great new artists are there and many of them list LP as their influence. I don't think you're wrong for feeling the way you feel. I think most of us all feel the same. We just miss Chester and Linkin Park. Even more so now because we're entering July next week and I can only imagine the emotions going through the bandmates and their families during this period. Mike Shinoda is my inspiration for being just an overall creative and being a renaissance man, I just miss them all. However I'm grateful they're still around and if anything this is probably the most important chapter of their lives and perhaps the crucial lesson they can school us with. How do you cope with the loss of a friend in your later adult stages in life? These guys have families and are well established. For the most part they grew up and grew out of their young angst phase, yet they lost a friend and brother. Can a bunch of guys in nearing their 50's make angst music? How will they overcome it? That too me is the part im most interested in, is how will this pain and loss be utilized and serve as a lesson not just for younger and upcoming generation but also to us "uncs" and "aunties", the old heads who grew up with them in the HT days and making Naruto AMVs.

ak9413

In the absence of new LP material, Bring Me The Horizon have had a huge emotional impact on me these past few years, both with their sound and their lyrics. Check them out, if you haven’t already :)

TheTrialByAlbertCamu

Have you ever heard of Brand New? There’s a few bands/artist that I would place above Linkin Park, that being Brand New, Elliott Smith, Jeff Buckley, Radiohead, and a few others. Brand New is the most similar to Linkin Park when comparing my favorites, though they’re still a different kind of rock. By the way I know you mentioned Radiohead in your post, but they’re my favorite band, so I had to go and mention them. Just ignore them.

Ok_Mulberry_6964

Hello, I have to say something off-topic that I don't know where to say but it's related to this community. I wanted to publish my first post 2 days ago but as I pressed the publish button I received a message from a bot saying that the comment couldn't be published in order to combat a wave of low effort/low quality posts. What am I supposed to do with that? I swear I didn't disrespect anybody inside the band nor said any bad word or anything

dumpsterfire896979

Opeth

RideAltruistic1776

Try Bring me the horizon they are inspired by linkin park

Key-Can2327

Im assuming cos chester is dead so you have an emotional connection. If he were still alive, you'd probably enjoy other bands more.

SecondFootMusic

Check out second foot  https://open.spotify.com/album/0WmtfhGyMXihLOAYPUib48?si=67wycTEZQc2qgxexe8Hqkg

metalheadagente1

From Ashes to New is kinda similar to Linkin Park. Has someone who does the rapping, one of them is the singer, and it also has relatable lyrics. I recommend songs such as Panic and SideFX.

Proculos

Radiohead? Amazing band?💀💀💀

Sh4dowTomi

Yup, they are unique
