I don’t know if I see it. Griffin Newman could be an interesting choice. A bit more of a traditionally actor-y pick with some history with Allen and his struggle with his legacy.

SenDerrickDeckard

Newman also has a minor history with Scorsese as he had a role in Vinyl. If Marty is able to get this DiCaprio-Sinatra project off the ground despite the Sinatra estate, smart money is on Grif. I think him and Mooney would both kill it. I doubt Allen will be a character in the film though.

eti400

Griffin Newman has also worked with Woody Allen oddly!

tpdwbi

Was also going to suggest Griffin, though I’m not sure how happy he would be about that

Reasonable_Oil_2765

Good role for him.

Kissit777

Let’s not give Allen any attention. He’s gross.

"Sorry, Martin Scorsese, but I can't take the role you're offering me alongside Leo DiCaprio, because the character is a bad person." Yes. That will definitely happen.

>I don't know where you're going with this. You seem to be suggesting that Kyle Mooney would refuse to play Woody Allen if Scorsese offered him the role. My point is that actors don't turn down roles--don't turn down *work*--just because the character is a pedophile or a cannibal or whatever. If they did, movies wouldn't have villains. And this goes double when the director is Hollywood legend Martin Scorsese, whose films can turn character actors into movie stars.

>I certainly wouldn't want to be seen as SUPPORTING a person with such allegations. LOL yes, Forrest Whitaker was definitely supporting murderous military juntas when he played Idi Amin in The Last King of Scotland. I liked your joke about Papyrus, but still, you write like a college sophomore who just discovered Ayn Rand, so I'm blocking you because life is short.

RealJerk69

Oh yeah, Martin Scorsese - that director who’s famous for bad casting 🤨

monsieurxander

If that were true, SVU wouldn't be in its 25th season. And Frank Sinatra hated Woody Allen. If he appeared in the biopic, it wouldn't be a sympathetic depiction.

obert-wan-kenobert

“See! The freeze ray guy gets it!”

brook1yn

people really wanna die on that hill huh?

SFF629

I’m sure Carrot Top would jump at the opportunity to play Roman Polanski

otterland

It's fashionable to call Woody that from people who also seem to hate when the religious right is sanctimonious. There's zero evidence of this. He's been married for 27 years. His adopted kids say he's the best dad ever. Mia Farrow likely has borderline personality disorder and started a smear campaign with zero evidence. Might as well jump on the flat earth and Jewish space Lazer conspiracies too.

SuspendedInKarmaMama

Don't bother. These people don't care about facts.

otterland

Oh I know. It just strikes me as wild that the people who spread this shit about Woody are almost always the same folks who scream about LGBT folks being maligned. Talk about becoming the thing you hate. For the record LGBT folks do take an undue amount of shit as does Woody who's just an ancient nerd.

banjonyc

Exactly...two separate lengthy investigations and both found zero evidence this happened. Mia was rightly furious at being dumped for her adopted daughter (understandable) and falsely accused him to get revenge.

Uh—it’s not a Woody Allen biopic. It’s a Sinatra biopic. Pay attention, man.

kittensbabette

Who's gonna play Sinatra's son, Ronan Farrow?

BostonDudeist

I said nothing about him getting a biopic, though. Stop projecting.

What the hell are you talking about? WHEN do I say anything about liking or not liking the guy? Do you even know what he has to do with Sinatra?

Sleeze_

Thats not why they are shitting on you lmao. Nobody said Woody Allen should get a biopic. Are you ill?

geirmundtheshifty

Right, but Woody Allen as a minor character in the Sinatra biopic. Not a Woody Allen biopic.   Frank Sinatra was briefly married to Mia Farrow and they remained friends long after that. Some people have claimed that he wanted to have Woody Allen killed during Farrow and Allen’s custody battle. I assume that’s what OP is referring to by “the applicable incident” (though maybe there’s some other incident).

Sleeze_

Oof this is a tough look for you

Sleeze_

So you think we should just not tell stories about bad people? All movies should be only about nice and good people ?

Neutral and you are the one being ridiculous. You are arguing against something no one is saying.

ScooperDooperPooper

This guy gets it

Historical_Note5003

Why do you want to wreck poor Kyle’s career? What did he ever do to you?

Johnny-Dogshit

I just want another season of S.M.A.S.H.

pigeyejackson66

Leo as Frank? No.

pnwbaseball

Should be Phil Hartman

Historical_Note5003

Ouch. That one still hurts.

August_West_1990

I want a Ryan Murphy produced season of Feud about the Dylan Farrow trial with Barry Koeghan as Woody and Margot Robbie as Mia.

bylertarton

I’d be surprised if the biopic even mentions Mia Farrow. None of it would make either of them look very good.

BostonDudeist

I don't think that's the point. Have you seen a Scorcese movie before?

bylertarton

I have! Every one he’s ever made, except for Kundun and the George Harrison documentary. One of my favorite things is how he doesn’t include pointless subplots that would add nothing to the movie. I know you thought you asked a real neat question but there’s no need to be a smug twat about it.

BostonDudeist

Then you might have noticed he has a thing for gangster shit. I mean, why do you think he's doing a Sinatra movie in the first place? Also, I wouldn't exactly call his relationship with Mia a small part of his story.

bylertarton

Sinatra was over 80 when he died and was married 4 times. But you’re right, I’m sure the 2 years he was married to Mia and the fact that she dated Woody Allen 15 years later will likely make up a significant amount of act 2 …. And out of the 30+ movies Scorsese has made only about 5 or 6 are actually about “gangster shit.” He’s made almost as many rock documentaries as he has “gangster shit” - so I’m going to have to say you’re probably wrong about the reasons he wants to make this movie, too.
