I saw Wigan play at Anfield and Victor Moses tore us to shreds. Wigan absolutely played us off the field.. It was like the end of Apocalypto. In this case, it was the new style of football represented by Martinez come to conquer the old style of football represented by Dalglish. Henderson had no idea what he was supposed to do that game.
I have literally no memory of him playing for Liverpool. How weird that I remember that match with clarity but don't remember him for us.
I was gonna say Salif Diao. He was with us for almost 5 years, won a trophy too!
Didn’t even know Victor Moses played for us, so yeah, technically he wins 😅
On his day, Joe Cole still remains one of the best players I've seen on a football field. However, those days were about twice, ever. One of the least consistent players of all time.
I wouldn't say so. There was a good period where he was genuinely world-class. Unfortunately, though, injuries ravaged him in his late twenties, and by the time he came to us, he was finished. A damn shame as he was one of the most exciting english players I've ever seen.
I stand by him being inconsistent as fuck - I witnessed some truly Messi level talent a couple of times where he dictated the game, dribbled, passed, shot - everything was perfection. But it was so few and far between on the between it was good but not great. He traded off those moments I feel
I remember at the time klopp criticised Rodgers use of him, and I can remember thinking "who the fuck does this klopp guy think he is, trying to tell the manager of Liverpool FC how to do his job"
Shows that I have no idea what I'm talking about.
I remember that, and I thought "Please come to us papa Klopp"
I was already a fan of his, as I've followed Dortmund for ~20 years or so now. Dreams do come true.
Nothing sums up the Hodgson era more than him subbing on Poulsen for an attacker at 1-1 to secure a point vs Wigan
> "His introduction secured the point at least because he was very good when he came on."
Even more of a shit show than the Gareth Barry debacle. Am I right in remembering we sold Crouch then bought him only to sell him in Janurary? Should never have sold Crouch. Terrible decision.
I just remember him getting put down coz he wasn't doing it for us, but he was basically a support striker at that stage of his career and we were playing him.up top.on his own.
Gerrard’s goal v. West Ham in the FA Cup final is my only recollection. Carra jumps on Stevie’s shoulders and Jan just very awkwardly comes along as if he didn’t just see one of the greatest ever goals
And yet he still managed to play in, and pick up an FA Cup final winners medal in 2006 by virtue of coming off the bench in the 2nd half. I guess for him personally it would be a big moment in his career
Kromkamp and joseulu (? I think) too
Brutal right backs and Finnan outlasted them all.
Also. Steve Finnan is underrated and a solid consistent performer.
Péter Gulácsi. While not a headliner. Has had a good career so far.
I don't think he got an official game for us. Being a keeper makes it harder. Especially when Reina was about.
Shocked nobody has mentioned Mauricio Pellegrino.
Completely baffled me when I saw a photo back from the 2005 season. I cannot remember him playing for us at all.
This was absolutely my answer. Very solid centre back in his day, arrived with zero legs. I remember him getting absolutely rinsed against (I think?) United for one of their goals. Man turned like he was wading through mud.
Do you not understand the question? It's not "which LFC players were bad"...everyone remembers Aquilani because he was our Alonso replacement. People remember Voronin because he was trash, and played alongside Torres. Everyone remembers Lambert because he got to play for his boyhood club, and because he barely scored for us. Everyone remembers Ngog because Rafa loved him and said he was "Ah-may-zing". I certainly remember Insua playing for us (he made 44 apps over 3/4 years), a poor player in a poor team, apart from Gerrard.
>People remember Voronin because he was trash
People also forget that he was at one time a key player for Klopp, arguably his first name on his teamsheet
Technically I remember him playing for us, but it completely slipped my mind that we'd signed Bellamy for a second time. I read his name somewhere and decided to refresh my memory of his record for us, and I was surprised I totally forgot he had 2 spells here.
Diego Cavalieri.
Never had success in Europe but had a great career in Brazil. Won the league and best goalkeeper, and got called up to the Brazilian national team for the confederations cup.
Mark Gonzalez, Albert Reira.
I was sent a ‘care pack’ from LFC around 2012ish when I was in Afghanistan. Amongst the pack was a ‘Doni’ goalkeeper shirt!
I remember Kyrgiakos for being like our only good defender for the half season Woy was in charge. And it was rather unique to the brief Hodgson era, he went back be being kinda meh, and a #4 CB option for good reason once Kenny took over, then leaving in the summer
Haven’t seen his name yet, but Jordon Ibe.
There was a real conversation between him and Sterling being the future starting wingers this time 10 years ago.
Ziege and Anelka.. maybe because I was still a kid, but I have never been so excited by a couple of signings. Both awful, although I still think we should have signed Anelka permanently.
Victor Moses.
I saw Wigan play at Anfield and Victor Moses tore us to shreds. Wigan absolutely played us off the field.. It was like the end of Apocalypto. How can you forget good old times of Moses playing wingback lol
I was gonna say Salif Diao. He was with us for almost 5 years, won a trophy too! Didn’t even know Victor Moses played for us, so yeah, technically he wins 😅
Liverpool Legend 13/14
Still blame his shit pass causing Henderson to get sent off vs City in 2014, meaning he missed the Chelsea game, and the rest is history…
Missing the sitter to go 4-3 up at Palace is what I'll always remember him for
Tiago Ilori
We were linked with him during the entire transfer window, signed him on deadline day and didn't play him until 2.5 years later.
Theres no fucking way he's 31
goddamn this post has now just reminded me of Oussama Assaidi
I had high hopes for that lad..
Salah Beta version
Fernando Morientes, considering how great a player he was, but nobody ever talks about him here.
Had no pace and we didn’t play to his strengths. Class in his prime.
Real Madrid mothballing him for half a season because he'd knocked them out of the CL didn't help. His goal against Charlton was a banger though.
Yeah class, in the yellow tire-mark kit.
He wasn't great for LFC, wasn't a flop signing, but definitely not Great
Yeah, I do know that. I’m saying for what he was at Madrid and Spain. He had a goalscoring drought too here.
Joe Cole
Elliot remind me of him
On his day, Joe Cole still remains one of the best players I've seen on a football field.

Nuri Sahin. That was an interesting six month loan
woefully under utilised by brenny
He could have been such a great asset to the team, Rodger’s absolutely stuffed that up!
I remember at the time klopp criticised Rodgers use of him, and I can remember thinking "who the fuck does this klopp guy think he is, trying to tell the manager of Liverpool FC how to do his job" Shows that I have no idea what I'm talking about.
I remember that, and I thought "Please come to us papa Klopp" I was already a fan of his, as I've followed Dortmund for ~20 years or so now. Dreams do come true.
I remember watching that Malaga vs Dortmund game and thinking he’s an absolute nutter
lad I’ve never related to a Reddit post as much as this one
Tried to turn him into a second-striker for some reason. Not "Mascherano under ~~Moyes~~ Pardew"-bad, but still baffling.
He's the new head coach of Dortmund. Hope he does well.
I don't remember
fair enough
Cheers Geoff! Back to you in the studio
It said "almost"
Well i almost remembered
Steady, son
Lazar markovic
I really thought he was gonna be the real deal
That shot off the crossbar vs Sunderland…
Had in my mind “who is that Serbian dude that was supposed to be the next best thing” and surprisingly had to scroll quite a bit to find this one.
Still fuming about his red card in the EL
Arthur Melo
*Played, if 13 minutes counts 🤣
I missed his entire Liverpool career when I went for a poo! True story.
That's actually hilarious lol..
This might be the winner... give it some time.
Ben Davis
Christian Poulsen, brought in as Mascheranos replacement i think, only reason i remember him. Anyways he was shit
Nothing sums up the Hodgson era more than him subbing on Poulsen for an attacker at 1-1 to secure a point vs Wigan > "His introduction secured the point at least because he was very good when he came on."
I remember someone saying he was moving around the park like he was on a grocery store scooter 😂
How can anyone forget Poulsen, those kind of horrible transfers never leave my head. Him and Konchesky live rent free.
Iago Aspas.
Aspas corner ![gif](giphy|J8YpfDX0kvPQNSVGHY|downsized)
had a brilliant career back in la liga fair play to him
Indeed.
That corner…. That damn corner still lives rent free
We really like him.
Absolute banger
Still remember the corner sadly.
Center Forward Steven Caulker
Bolo Zenden
I remember that guy! Legendary hair
Robbie Keane.
Absolutely rough to be treated like that by one of your seventeen boyhood clubs
Idunno if it's just my soft spot for him but I genuinely believe Crouch was so underrated.
Fever dream.
A Boyhood Fever Dream for him, though.
He reminds me of that light grey away kit. Had a few mates with that with Keane on the back
Jan Kromkamp
We have a winner! I only remember the name, not a single memorable moment as a Red
Gerrard’s goal v. West Ham in the FA Cup final is my only recollection. Carra jumps on Stevie’s shoulders and Jan just very awkwardly comes along as if he didn’t just see one of the greatest ever goals
Even less of a typical Dutch player than Kuyt
And yet he still managed to play in, and pick up an FA Cup final winners medal in 2006 by virtue of coming off the bench in the 2nd half. I guess for him personally it would be a big moment in his career
Him and Victor Moses are great shouts!
Brad Friedel because he's synonymous with Blackburn and Villa.
Still have his bottle head figure from back in the day.
World Cup Winner Bernard Diomede.
Emiliano Insua and Andrea Dossena on the left, Phillip Degen on the right. Fullbacks galore under Rafa. All pretty crap.
Fun fact: Degen played with Salah and Shaqiri at Basel
Apart from Dossena's two goals.
Insua's only goal for us was a belter as well
Him lobbing Van de sar in that 4-1 at old trafford is one of the most memorable goals of that era for me
I will never forget his united goal
Hey Fabio Aurelio was pretty good when he wasn’t injured
World class mate, he was ace
Kromkamp and joseulu (? I think) too Brutal right backs and Finnan outlasted them all. Also. Steve Finnan is underrated and a solid consistent performer.
Josemi, he was rubbish
We’ve been so spoiled with amazing fullbacks recently, for a moment there we had some dreadful fullbacks lol
Dossena most remember though because of *that* goal
Javier Manquillo
Balotelli hands down
i think about this daily
Thats.... unfortunate.
We knew it wouldn't work out but there was a slim chance he would discover form and not be a dick, neither happened.
Saw Liverpool post a pic of him on insta about ex Italian Liverpool players and I really got confused for a second That was a shit year
Him and lambert, yikes
I'll never forget how our supporters had to physically hold him back from starting a mess while playing.
I remember nearly every player in this thread but this is the one that got me. Fucking hell can't believe he actually played for us.
Sebastian Leto.
Kevin Stewart
Luis Alberto
Paletta Decent career in Italy, even was called up by the Italian NT.
I remember Krisztian Nemeth only because he is one of the most high profile players to have played for my local team (Olympiacos Volou)
Fabio Borini
I'm in talks to return under Arne, keep it quiet though
Only thing he left Liverpool with was a fit Scouse bird
Had one of the better goal celebrations.
Too bad we barely saw it :(
Alex Manninger
Bruno Cheyrou. Brad Smith Brad Friedel Bernard Diomede Damn there's a lot of Bs in there.
He was bad
This was absolutely my answer. Very solid centre back in his day, arrived with zero legs. I remember him getting absolutely rinsed against (I think?) United for one of their goals. Man turned like he was wading through mud.
Remember him more for being on Rafa's coaching staff than his playing career.
Paul Jones, that goalie mostly known for playing for Southamption.
Sean Dundee
Sinama-Pongolle
And Anthony Le Tallec!
Wouldn't have won the European cup without him
Anelka, Moses, Gulasci, Awoniyi, Coates, Manquillo
Did Gulacsi or Awoniyi ever make a first team appearance for us?
Awoniyi definitely didn't as he spent his whole time with us on loan in Germany due to visa issues.
Gulacsi got pre season (poor guy was behind Brad Jones and the OG Alison.. Doni. Awoniyi I don't think so.
Abel Xavier …a rarity coming from Everton too. 14 games and 1 goal Florent Sinama Pongolle Marko Grujic Christian Benteke
Ozan Kabak
Man, I had so much faith in him too
Milan Jovanovic will never be forgotten. Anelka doesn't come to mind in a Liverpool shirt. Lazar Markovic maybe ?
I remember being right behind the goal in the Ipswich game when Anelka banged one in on 87th minute
Balotelli. Wish I could forget him entirely tbh
Paul Konchesky... Sebastian Leto Sir Matt Busby
Haven't seen Zenden's name yet
I still have my Alberto Aquillani shirt…
Aquilani aka Alonso's replacement
Aw man, he was so good.
Yeah, Aquilani was not though
You lot remember Javier Manquillo?
I forgot Arthur Melo played for us while he was playing for us
Ged Houllier's mole Jean-Michel Ferri
Jon Glenson
Anelka
Titi Camara
Assaidi. I was SO excited when we signed him.
Sometimes I forget we forked out £54 million for kieta. So much hype but spent more times in the hospital than on the pitch. Shame
Nabil El Zahr
Christian Ziege for me
Aquilani, Voronin, Lambert, Ngog, Insua
Do you not understand the question? It's not "which LFC players were bad"...everyone remembers Aquilani because he was our Alonso replacement. People remember Voronin because he was trash, and played alongside Torres. Everyone remembers Lambert because he got to play for his boyhood club, and because he barely scored for us. >People remember Voronin because he was trash People also forget that he was at one time a key player for Klopp, arguably his first name on his teamsheet
Jari Litmanen
Nope, I will forever hold a special place in my heart for that man. An artist.
The name always made me feel like the dude was a fin rally driver
Doni
Charlie Adam
Technically I remember him playing for us, but it completely slipped my mind that we'd signed Bellamy for a second time. I read his name somewhere and decided to refresh my memory of his record for us, and I was surprised I totally forgot he had 2 spells here.
ben davies
Marko Grujic - can’t even remember a competitive appearance from him
Diego Cavalieri.
Karl-Heinz Riedle
Maxi Rodriguez and of course Kyrgiakos. In fact the only reason I remember Kyrgiakos is when Maxi stuck his finger up his arse.
I remember Kyrgiakos for being like our only good defender for the half season Woy was in charge. And it was rather unique to the brief Hodgson era, he went back be being kinda meh, and a #4 CB option for good reason once Kenny took over, then leaving in the summer
Victor Moses
I’m just gonna make up a name erik meijer 😂
Haven’t seen his name yet, but Jordon Ibe. There was a real conversation between him and Sterling being the future starting wingers this time 10 years ago.
Raul Meireles
I have the opposite, I always remember him being at Liverpool for like 3 seasons.
He won us a bunch of games in that dark era.
He was the bright spark for a whole season. Can't forget some of the pearlers he brought.
Suso. Went to Milan and was pretty good, forgot he played for us until I looked him up after a CL game he bossed
Robbie Keane. his spell at Liverpool was in the middle of a Spurs sandwich and then he went to LA for five years
Kolo toure
Martin Kelly
Brad Friedel
Rickie Lambert
Mauricio Pellegrino
Scrolled all the way and unless I’m blind no one has said Gabriel Paletta
Benteke
Sotirios Kyrgiakos.... Greek centre back. He was a little nuts 😂
Charlie Adams
Arthur
Cheers to all the players I actually forgot played for Liverpool
Iago Aspas. Such a strange spell at Liverpool for a player who has been an absolutely stellar striker for more than a decade in La Liga.
Lets be honest … Victor moses
Markus Babbel. Speaks volumes about the Hyppia/Henchoz partnership that he played at right back for us, quality.
Thiago Alcántara
Nick Barnby.
Nuri Sahin, unfortunately
Paul Ince. He was good, I just forget.
Or his son. Think he got a game or 2.
associating Anelka with one club is... peculiar.
Luis Alberto
Most lads Woy signed... poulson, jovanovic, Konchesky...
Ziege and Anelka.. maybe because I was still a kid, but I have never been so excited by a couple of signings. Both awful, although I still think we should have signed Anelka permanently.
Kronkamp. If that’s even how you spell it.
