How about "Joe Puertorico?" Has a ring to it, don't it? "Now entering the game at quarterback for Texas, the redshirt freshman wearing number 16, Joe Puertorico."
this is the right move for him. he doesn’t have to do any marketing for EA, just focuses on improving himself.
sucks for us as fans cause we can’t play our favorite “backup qb wins every game” in virtual reality
He never had to do any marketing. Players were getting $600 solely to allow their name to be in the game. Higher profile players are getting extra, but have to advertise the game on social media.
This sucks tbh. Why tf wouldnt you just opt in? Its 600 bucks and a copy of the game. People have been waiting for this shit for a decade. Get the fuck in there arch
The NFL players get sizeably more per player - think 2019 numbers were leaked and it's around 17k a player
Math works out to EA paying about 29 mil to players for NFL and a little under 7 mil for the CFB pool
Agreed, I think the NIL pool is pretty spot on from EA.
Think it's probably going to be a higher percentage of the game's revenue compared to Madden - on top of game sales being way higher for Madden, ultimate team is a cash cow that I really don't think most NCAA players will play like they do in Madden
Don't think that mode got a ton of love in 14
This game will outsell Madden in physical copies and downloads, it’s been 11 years. Where Madden will profit way more is the Ultimate team but I wouldn’t doubt it if NCAA had something similar. Pay to win cards to build your team.
If he takes $600, he's setting the market value for licensing his name. For one, as a Manning he's already set for life and doesn't need to license his name. Secondly, if he does license his name out, he's already got enough name recognition he should be able to garner a lot more than $600.
It’s the first game in 10 years and the name on the back of his jersey is much, much more prestigious.
I personally don’t care, but I can see why they’d rather take the heat now, than have rampant speculation for the next few months and segments on espn about why he’s rated higher than the returning starter at X # of SEC/B1G schools
Espn and whoever else will find a way to talk about him regardless. You already see articles daily saying “arch the starter in 2024?!?!” And all kinds of BS
Tbh, not opting in has shined a light on him more than it would have if he had just opted in.
His reasoning for doing it sounds like it was created by some out of touch lawyer or family member who thinks they can get more for his name. Which, sure, they def can… but when everyone else is opting in and youre one of the few holdouts.. it makes you look selfish.
Likely a family lawyer suggesting not to in order to protect the family name, but can you imagine the headache through the season of:
“Oh he’s only rated an 86 as a RS Freshman? BUST”
“Oh he’s rated a 95 as a RS Freshman? NEPO BABY”
Sounds like a nightmare
The amount of hate thrown his way from this is insane. Like literally, why should anyone care he isn’t in the game? lol He’s had what, 10 total plays in CFB?
This is dumb and he's obviously gonna catch heat for it. Arguably a bigger distraction than if he'd opted in like everyone else. If his family doesn't want him to be "tainted" by the NIL money donate it!
On the contrary, I feel like his family lawyer thought their brand is too big to license for $600 and this has nothing to do with distractions. Unfortunately it's about to become a distraction for the wrong reasons...
If a player isn’t opting into the game their name will be blocked from ‘create-a-player’ or ‘edit player’. From what EA has confirmed they will use ‘history at that teams position to create a player in the game’ so his slot will probably be filled with a generated name and stats from a backup type player like Shane Bueschelle or maybe a freshman Quinn
They probably won't put that much effort into it. Just put a generic ass backup player and people will rename it to March Anning. It's not an issue after 3 years of dynasty.
God damnit fuck this little douche. First Ncaa in 11 fucking years and this entitled little tool thinks his last name which he has no impact in making is "too good" to be worth only $600 while millions of kids would willingly be in the game for free myself included. Downvote me idc but I've been playing NCAA since my teens. Spending thousands of hours on NCAA 14 alone and this of course happens to my favorite team. Fuck you Arch you will be in the game regardless you attention seeking tool.
So you’re telling my QB in season 2026 is going to be March Anning?
Let’s call him A. Manning. No, no, that’s too obvious. How about Arch M.?
Mark Channing, coming to a starting spot near you.
"Why Arch Manning's video game decision indicates an upcoming portal entry" - ESPN probably
Everyone, probably.
Alternate headline: Arch Manning doing everything right.
Fr all respect for his decision
"Ron Mexico" has now entered the game at QB for Texas...
No, NO! No dogfighting!
He wasn't going to have to do any marketing to be in the game. EA would have paid him more for that.
$600 and a free copy of the game.
No, that was just to be in the game. EA will have paid an additional, negotiated amount for players to promote the game.
Not worth his time.
EA doesn't need to promote the game. Everyone knows this shit is coming in July.
$600 is chump change to license your name for a game.
Its a similar deal to what nfl players get for madden apparently. And theres more players in CFB.
The NFL players get sizeably more per player - think 2019 numbers were leaked and it's around 17k a player Math works out to EA paying about 29 mil to players for NFL and a little under 7 mil for the CFB pool
Which is pretty on par with what this game is going to make vs Madden.
Agreed, I think the NIL pool is pretty spot on from EA. Think it's probably going to be a higher percentage of the game's revenue compared to Madden - on top of game sales being way higher for Madden, ultimate team is a cash cow that I really don't think most NCAA players will play like they do in Madden Don't think that mode got a ton of love in 14

Absolutely not.
But is he going to make more than that licensing his name out to another video game? What would he actually lose with this deal?
If he takes $600, he's setting the market value for licensing his name. For one, as a Manning he's already set for life and doesn't need to license his name. Secondly, if he does license his name out, he's already got enough name recognition he should be able to garner a lot more than $600.
I mean it’s very clear that it’s to avoid the entirety of “why is arch rated this number” discourse. It’s not a hard concept
Thats really stupid. Who gives af. He hasnt played a meaningful down. VYs rating as a freshman was doodoo too. How did that turn out?
It’s the first game in 10 years and the name on the back of his jersey is much, much more prestigious. I personally don’t care, but I can see why they’d rather take the heat now, than have rampant speculation for the next few months and segments on espn about why he’s rated higher than the returning starter at X # of SEC/B1G schools

For some it is.
Well now it's created its own discourse and he's $670 poorer.
No one will care in 2 days
I think you underestimate the hate.
That makes sense. We had a whole year of "why is Arch rated .999x on 247?" Not a stretch to say he doesn't want to deal with that all over again.
Why is arch rated X and Quinn rated Y? Arch should be starting blah blah
It’s kinda dumb but I guess it’s his choice to make
There's 10,000+ other players you can use in the game, but people are up in arms about Manning, which makes no sense to me.
Because he is the first high profile player to have their opt out made public. He is probably the most known player going into the 2024 season.
Because 10000 other players did it and he's holding out.. For what?
Because he wants to..... go use the other 10,000 players.
His family has publicly stated he's not taking any NIL deals until he's a starter.
I mean.. Give the free game and 600 bucks to some random needy kid. I think it's a mistake. But... Not my call.
What does Arch need $600 for?
What does he need any money for? Holding out looks like hes holding out for more money. Its a bad look
If his biggest character concern is not wanting to be in NCAA25 then he’s in a pretty good spot
murky marvelous absorbed rob depend pet plate pen encourage one *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
Who said it’s ruined? Relax
What y’all think his OVR would be?
84-86 range. That’s where top 5 recruits would be as a RS FR in NCAA14
We do not care
Lame. It's his right and good for him, but still a lame move.
Likely a family lawyer suggesting not to in order to protect the family name, but can you imagine the headache through the season of: “Oh he’s only rated an 86 as a RS Freshman? BUST” “Oh he’s rated a 95 as a RS Freshman? NEPO BABY” Sounds like a nightmare
Good thing nobody is saying anything bad about him with this decision, then!
Lame. Maybe next year when he’s the starter he will jump in.
The amount of hate thrown his way from this is insane. Like literally, why should anyone care he isn’t in the game? lol He’s had what, 10 total plays in CFB?
He is probably the most known player going into the 2024 season.

He’s getting plenty of NIL money. He earned more than Brock Purdy last season.
Well I reckon I’m behind. Wasn’t there a big deal made about the fact that he wouldn’t be taking any NIL money?
Portal him, dude is a distraction. Will be cutting March Awning day 1 in my Texas Dynasty! /s
based
Good, less distractions
What distraction?
Idk I feel like he and the family thought it would be a distraction so he opted out.
On the contrary, I feel like his family lawyer thought their brand is too big to license for $600 and this has nothing to do with distractions. Unfortunately it's about to become a distraction for the wrong reasons...
Absolutely this. The manning name and likeness is worth more than $600.
Makes sense lol
Thats the dumbest shit ive ever heard
Good thing this hasn't created its own distraction!
Kinky
man this sucks!! I was hoping to start him as my QB1. oh well
Just create him and add him to roster?
If a player isn’t opting into the game their name will be blocked from ‘create-a-player’ or ‘edit player’. From what EA has confirmed they will use ‘history at that teams position to create a player in the game’ so his slot will probably be filled with a generated name and stats from a backup type player like Shane Bueschelle or maybe a freshman Quinn
Let's see an obvious Tyrone swoopes backup qb
Make it Bolt McFoy and I'm set.
They probably won't put that much effort into it. Just put a generic ass backup player and people will rename it to March Anning. It's not an issue after 3 years of dynasty.
Mrch Aanning time
That's OK. I'm perfectly happy with Quinn's backup being QB #16
They're probably going to replace him with a walk on.
Chad Powers it shall be!
Barch Marning will though….
Because everyone would put him in as the starter and he doesn’t want to overshadow the team. Classy move by the young man.
I highly doubt that's it. lol
L. I’m sure if you’d ask the young kid himself, he’d prefer to be in there.
God damnit fuck this little douche.
