From flightradar24.com they all appear to be media helicopters over UCLA due to protests. - https://www.nbclosangeles.com/news/local/ucla-protest-encampment-isarel-hamas-gaza-war/3419501/
being a full time protestor who doesn’t work and appropriates arab garb to pretend to care about something happening on the other side of the globe would count as larping in my book
living at the protest site? ✅
having no job so that you can afford to LIVE at the protest? ✅
black/asian/white/etc non middle eastern people wearing keffiah to LARP as a Jihadi ✅
pretending to care about this war having not said a peep about chemical weapons attacks in Syria or Saudi backed famine campaigns ✅
yea I’d say they’re larpers
Oooph I forgot all CA schools use quarter systems don’t they? I had semesters at my school, but I guess quarter systems make sense when prepping for real work deadlines
My CSUN semester ended last week. The only Cal State on the quarter system is Cal Poly SLO, but they're being forced to switch to the semester system in 2026.
I just remember someone complaining about quarter systems vaguely a week ago they made it sound like it was a California school thing, I went to school in Colorado so we were normally done with finals by now.
The big issue is that there's practically no buffer. Get sick or something come up and you fall a week behind? You're fucked.
Also there's no flexibility for instructors to design their class schedules, which means most classes with 2 midterm exams have the same exam schedule falling on 4th and 8th weeks, so it's incredibly common to get overwhelmed those weeks, when workload and pressure suddenly spike. A longer semester naturally spreads out these spikes in workload so it's much more manageable for students.
Exactly, I actually got sick this last semester and missed about a week and a half of class. I was able to catch up relatively quickly and stress free.
A few times I've been in the neighborhood and saw emergency vehicles parked out front. I thought someone must be having a medical issue. Nope, firefighters or EMTs getting cookies. They deserve it.
hmmm an ice cream sandwich does sound good. I might just go ahead and make some cookies and my own ice cream. probably why I'm fat, I enjoy cooking yummy food too much :P
Again not a genocide when the Palestinian population is growing. critical thinking is the fundamental skill we use in our jobs.
You’re upset that your degree was a waste of time and money that amounted to nothing other than corrupting your psyche to distort everything in your life into a series of dichotomies of oppressor vs oppressed. Don’t worry there are lots of us “STEM lords” who can help you cope with those feelings.
For sure dawg. If you read a book and not excel spreadsheets all day you'd know genocide entails more than the shrinking of population. My degree was in Econ btw. I work as an analyst, but I'm actually curious about the world too.
What genocide? Are we really supposed to believe what the Hamas Health Ministry is saying? If Israel wanted to commit genocide they'd use everything in their disposal. Is it belligerent and unnecessarily cruel? Absolutely. It isn't genocide. Not by a long shot.
It’s not pro Hamas 🤬😡🤬😡🤬😡 it’s pro human. No one is fucking supporting Hamas!! They are against Palestinians being targeted and I mean real everyday humans, not fucking Hamas! It’s murder what is happening over there!!!

Yeah it looks like they are building a new encampment
According to the news alert that popped up on my computer a few minutes ago, that new encampment is actually already being taken down by LAPD.
here we go..
The Larpers are back
What are they larping as? Protestors? It seems like they are actually protesting to me, not role playing.
Nah, they've got costumes on and everything.
being a full time protestor who doesn’t work and appropriates arab garb to pretend to care about something happening on the other side of the globe would count as larping in my book
Is that what they are? 🤔

Is that really true though? You're drawing a lot of conclusions based purely on optics. They look like protestors to me.
I’m not, I wouldn’t consider privileged people being able to make an encampment and larp as though they’re homeless to be “optics”
I know larp is a fun internet buzzword but I don't think you're using it correctly.
For Gondor!
UCLA is on Summer Break now right? So aren't there considerable less people and students on campus? Like who's the target here? Just the media?
Classes are still in session for the next 2-3 weeks. Since they’re on the quarter system, they don’t wrap up until mid-June.
Oooph I forgot all CA schools use quarter systems don’t they? I had semesters at my school, but I guess quarter systems make sense when prepping for real work deadlines
Not all CA schools, just most UCs are on the quarter system. Most Cal State schools are on semesters.
I prefer the 16 week semester system. Quarters feel too rushed.

That's what I heard by week 3 you're probably in full panic mode.
UCLA's academic year doesn't end for 3 weeks.
U! C! L! A! UCLA PROTEST TIME!!
If they're hovering, they're media. If they're lower and circling or continually moving, they're LAPD.
Trying to find parking for Diddy Riese…
A few times I've been in the neighborhood and saw emergency vehicles parked out front. I thought someone must be having a medical issue. Nope, firefighters or EMTs getting cookies. They deserve it.
They also need to park nearby in case of an emergency. The red zone is for waiting for an emergency just as much as it is responding to an emergency.

more bored college kids to watch
Apparently, a bunch of kids don’t need to study. Time to rid UCLA of useless majors.
Someone’s mad they don’t have a degree lmao
I have 2 degrees from UCLA. It’s time for UCLA to get rid of the useless majors.
STEM lords like you are the reason why critical thinking is dead in this country. And why y’all think protesting a genocide is dumb.
> STEM lords like you are the reason why critical thinking is dead in this country. hahaha wow.
Nah let's have more non-technical majors lead companies like Boeing. Oh, look how that worked out.
[удалено]
You think business majors are technical? Lmao. Keep counting beans
“Y’all”

Good, they shouldn’t be able to create a security risk and public nuisance
Probably another pro Hamas protest
It’s not pro Hamas 🤬😡🤬😡🤬😡 it’s pro human. No one is fucking supporting Hamas!! They are against Palestinians being targeted and I mean real everyday humans, not fucking Hamas! It’s murder what is happening over there!!!
