I usually lift by stuffing my forearms under the bags or rolling the bags onto my forearms and kind of hug them against my body. I do this with concrete and rock too. It's messy but it works.

This is my method with boxes of flooring as well. Grab one end and the other on my other forearm. Has helped with my wrist pain.
