Bonus areas are not cuz customers are ordering there it's cuz customers are ordering the the surrounding vicinity and they want someone there cuz there are non that's my thoughts xD
There aren't any 8 zones out right now. They operate differently than the regular bonus zones that stick with you until you drive your next ride. You have to be in the 8 zone to unlock, and if you leave it , it will be relocked. PM me the screen recording if your 8 stays unlocked.
I’m convinced those bonus hours are places they know there won’t be a decent number of rides but there are never drivers. That $8 is because they know you’ll only get one or two rides and they’re banking on the “bonus” to trick you.
You got the bonus, congrats. Now lyft will priority every single other driver before you, until there's a ride that no driver will accept.
I waited 40 minutes once. Decided fuck the surge. Went offline and right back online and instantly had several ride offers in a row.
Same thing happened to me yesterday. I learned all the rides are outside of these areas. I left and went to the surrounding areas of the bonuses and I took home more than zero lol
Lyft's bonus zones are a con. At least with Uber, I know I'll get a ping as I drive in it. Hell all I have to do is accept the request within the surge zone, don't have to actually be in it.
Lyft tweaked something in their algorithm recently, and it is not good. I wasn't even specifically trying to get those bonuses. I was trying to get through a large number of rides for a bonus. Like you, every time I had a bonus I was sitting on, I just sat. It's unacceptable.
One of the things that makes lift a much better app than Ubers is that they pay you on the way to the passengers, which means their interest aligns with the driver's interest. Historically, that always meant that they tried to match the closest driver to the closest passenger. This is as it should be both for the passengers benefit driver's productivity and to minimize Lyft's costs.
The problem is now they're calculating in other costs such as is the driver sitting in a bonus zone. Now their algorithm looks at it and says oh I've got a guy 10 miles away who is not on a bonus and if I bring him this way it's only going to cost me $3.50 in mileage charges to bring that guy and I'll just let the guy sitting next to the passenger stew.
They are waiting for a ride they can make money on, and they’ll probably take some off the fare too to compensate. I’ve noticed on the turbo bonuses they basically subtract it from the fare and then give it back as “a bonus”, like we are stupid.
Yes yes that is exactly it, I have a pax I drop off 3 to 4 times a week, I unlocked a 6.50 bonus at the airport and her ride popped up for 12.00 (6.50 bonus plus 5.50 fare) her ride always pay 11$, lol 😆 they are slick and petty!
I wish I got that. With Lyft, I typically have to drive 10 minutes to pick up a run under $5. I will take these runs hoping I'll get something better elsewhere.
The trick is to park your car and use the bathroom or have lunch. Never fails.

Ofcourse if its slow and close to home...just head home, they will hit you up.
I found opening up a mobile game works for me. Everytime I start a new level, I get 7 ride requests in a row. I wish I was joking.

Did this the other day. Almost exact same time. It was even surging on top of it. Waiting 35 minutes and just decided to go home instead.
Every damn time. Also love how the bonuses start going nuts when I log off, then when I log on I watch them disappear as I get closer to them 😕
Funny cause I managed to do 4 rides in that bonus hour

I was thinking about that also. Easy for them to reduce base fare to add on the bonus. Rest assured I will Not go to a bonus area intentionally again.

It'll just match you with someone 18 min away for a 5 min or 2 hour trip.
No matches for 20 minutes sitting in a bonus area. I even drove to another bonus area 10 minutes away. Nada.

Agree! It could be reasonable full time work if only the bonuses weren't so sporadic, but only do what we can and get creative I suppose
