There's not usually a point in executing since the rep hit with everyone in the world is too high. There's also not really any point in releasing since the rep gain is so small and only with 1 person. So your choices are really Ransom or keep imprisoned. Imprison helps if you are trying to capture a castle or something and want the lords to stay out of your way. Ransom gets you gold so it's good the rest of the time.

You can also donate them to friendly fiefs for easy influence. As a bonus they stay captured and escape less often than the default player prisons (without perks).

ReindeerKind1993

Rep is only answer loot esrns you money if you a merc contract is a bonus rep is important no katter how small for when u make a kingdom u can ask lords you have high rep with to turn traitor and join you so you dont have to solo 1k strong armys

Glaciem94

releasing is a good choice for clan leaders that don't want to join you. other than that keeping them is most beneficial. as soon as the war is about to end I ransom all the prisoners of that faction

Blackstone96

If you’re just a mercenary then Ransom him back

Vok250

Depending on your contract you might make more money donating them to a friendly fief. It earns influence (which pays out to denars for mercs) and they aren't released back into the frontlines.

Chop chop gets you a reputation hit for the short term, but for the long-term chop chop is always the best, as they are taken out of the fight forever. Bad reputation doesn't matter when there's nobody else left.

Parki2

The question I have is when you give a guy the chop are they replaced with a new NPC that has the same clan tier level? Killing an emperor who can raise and army of 300 on his own and has thousands of influence seems good if he is not replaced with someone of similar value. I gave Lucon the chop and his successor and the NE faded quick. But then the conspiracy happened and took me out.

Gullible-Chemical471

They are replaced with an existing NPC, a clan leader. They will have a similar value, but enough chops later the value of the ruler will drop quickly as there would simply be no good ones left to choose.

ColFantastic

As peeps have stated already it depends on yoir goals. I was doing a run where I released everyone after battle to pump up my relation numbers and because of how I wanted to RP my character. Then I got in a war with the Western Empire and my sweet, sweet Lienna was permanently killed during a siege at the tail end of the war. Next war with the Western Empire, I executed every single noble I caught, starting with Garios for what they did to my wonderful wife. Screwed me with that faction relation wise.....buy was the right thing for the character I was playing as.

Donate to a friendly dungeon to increase charm and relationship with that clan.
