Any legal process will take years.

ARMCHA1RGENERAL

This is the depressing truth.

Bonethug609

Not necessarily, but possibly. Judges can grant injunctions within months.

yourhuckleberry1851

There was a bit of motion on the case late last week... Keep track here: [https://www.courtlistener.com/docket/67395333/kipke-v-moore/?filed\_after=&filed\_before=&entry\_gte=&entry\_lte=&order\_by=desc](https://www.courtlistener.com/docket/67395333/kipke-v-moore/?filed_after=&filed_before=&entry_gte=&entry_lte=&order_by=desc) Basically the State filed their opposition to the Plaintiffs' motion for summary judgement and preliminary injunction. IANAL so I don't know the next step. Ball is either back in Plaintiffs' court or its in the judge's court.

rhinodewster

I believe that means the motion is now waiting on the judge to grant it or deny it. Thanks for the link!

yourhuckleberry1851

Unfortunately its in front of an Obama appointed judge... which doesn't exactly bode well.

Carry on and Keep on doing the same shit…that proposed “law” is complete BS and unconstitutional.

crabu2

Even the politicians know it's unconstitutional. They're just creating feel good laws then hope parts of it stick. The general population are sheep. They think if a law says no guns, criminals will follow the law. All it'll do is make criminals bolder. Really, why do most mass shooting happen in gun free zones? Think about that! Why don't we hear about the law biding citizens stopping many mass shooting because they were allowed to have guns? Why do most gun homicides happen where the gun laws are most restrictive against law biding citizens? More gun laws against law biding people to prevent carrying haven't stopped or slowed down criminals from illegally using guns in a crime. If anything, it forces the law biding person to be comes a criminal just to be able to protect themselves.

firebox40dash5

>The general population are sheep. They think if a law says no guns, criminals will follow the law. I think you grossly underestimate your foe. I know more lefties than I care to, and I don't know any who actually believe that gun laws will stop criminals. The closest to that I've heard is admitting that it won't work, but "wE hAvE tO tRy SoMeThInG!" I think far more commonly, it's some mixture of a) "I secretly think that all you gun nuts are actually the problem" and b) "I know I won't ever carry a gun, and I want to disarm the rest of you out of spite, or maybe fear" I have a leftist anti-gun nut family member, who has openly stated that they would never carry a gun because 'I'd lose my temper & just shoot someone in traffic or something'... and projects that same instability onto everyone else 🤯

Drontheim

The operative quality here is *hoplophobe,* not *lefty.* There are a lot of us 'lefties' who are also pro-2AD who EDC. We're just a bit more outnumbered. We're still trying to fight the good fight here, too. (And, a lot of us are independents, so we're *really* left out in the cold by both sides of the aisle.)

Aquatic_Sausage

Well said

InsideFastball

Unconstitutional as it is, it’s still the fucking law. I can’t afford to be charged. To answer your question, I think it’ll be ruled unconstitutional long after it takes effect.

TitanSmoke

My guess is that it’ll be ruled after it takes effect

BDD0091

Just make sure you get your “concealed carry allowed on these premises” stickers to put on the door of every business you frequent. It will be overturned well after Oct 1st once it’s overturned a new unconstitutional law will be drafted and passed by the democrat majority and Moore will happily sign, just to waste your tax dollars to go through the legal process all over again. The ones who voted to pass it will also be re-elected. Welcome to Maryland leave when you have the chance, don’t make excuses, flee asap.

gmp012

There is no historical significance with these SB1 laws. There wasn't a fucking sign back in the day on every private residence that explicitly allowed firearms. Our state government is corrupt and they play these games, using our tax dollars against us, while earning popularity points among their own peers and the gullible population of MD ("enslave me more daddy" -ur avg MD resident). Unfortunately they are playing 4D chess and game the system in a way that favors their outcome. SB1 is absolutely unconstitutional and they know it. But the legal system is slow, especially when it's two players (justice & legislative) on the same team. Not saying I'll be doing this........but I hear a lot of fellows won't be complying with this new law. Better alive than dead after all?

sjay1956

After. I’m sure the AG’s office is playing for time and hoping the makeup of the S.Ct changes before the case gets there.

ConversationNext2821

Welcome to New Mexico

BDD0091

How many Baltimore shootings are we away from Moore giving it a try? You think he will let some lady in New Mexico violate rights better than him? I’m sure MSP would be giddy to enforce it for him. If under a proclaimed State of Emergency by the Governor when the Governor has issued orders, rules, or regulations controlling the possession, carry, use, and/or sale of firearms - MD Code, Public Safety, § 14-303(b)(8)

ConversationNext2821

Let him try it. We will find out how quickly that MD law is unconstitutional.

BDD0091

It will take just as long as SB1 is taking or as long as the HQL and the Montgomery county cases are taking and cost more donations and waste more tax dollars fighting it in court. Lawmakers and governors sure are good at keeping lawyers in business while our constitutional rights suffer.

Soft_Internal_6775

New Mexico put in place by order a total ban on carry. SB 1 isn’t that. Of the post-*Bruen* state legislation, it’s sincerely the least far-reaching. That said, the default private property bans imposed by legislatures in Hawaii and New Jersey have not been treated kindly by the courts thus far. Plaintiffs here have a good shot of getting relief.

GibbsSamplePlatter

will likely be put on hold or part or whole long before that

XooDumbLuckooX

It's like 3 weeks away, how "long before" it can it be at this point?

GibbsSamplePlatter

long before it's \*struck down\*

caponebpm

I am an absolute stand up citizen. I shall obey SB1 to the fullest extent! 🥸
