Nah I love fighting Matty Ice- it’s funny because IRL he has like a 30~% rate of using the knuckleball but the CPU knows it’s weird and constantly throws it
I always forget and when that first knuckleball gets thrown I swing like 5 seconds early and get all confused. Fortunately I can usually manage after that.
I almost made this same post to tell.everyone that Waldron is pretty easy because he doesn't seem to throw anything but the knuckleball. When you know it's coming, it's pretty much BP offspeed.
It doesnt help that the speed range listed is “58-63mph” but every knuckleball he throws is 70+. So youre expecting slower than the pitch actually is, makes it hard to time it the first few pitches
Matt Waldron has a 1.91 ERA in his last 7 games, with 9 SO/9 and 2.14 BB/9. He’s legitimately might get a topps now card, or a mlb the show seasons card. That would be nasty lol.
It’s just 3-inning games with extra steps. There’s a brain-dead Risk-like layer built on top, but you can almost totally ignore it if you’re comfortable defeating the computer on high difficulties. If you like your games in Rookie or Veteran, you’ll need to build up a little army and move it around the map.
It’s not that hard. Once you completely surround a stronghold, the AI only ever attacks one space every round. Put 3-5 reinforcements there and you can surround all of the bases until you’ve covered the whole map. Takes about 20 turns
It's a setting you might have to change to turn on, only allowed in a few modes. You hold RT/R2, then you can guess the pitch type, and/or the location and it will tell you if you guessed right. For Waldron, guess the knuckle w/ no location and he's BP
Seriously. The first time I faced him was online in co-op and he made me look silly as hell in my first at bat. The second at bat, he threw one and I fouled it off. I said to my buddies “oh boy, please fucking throw that shit to me again” and then I blasted the next pitch. All three of us had it timed up by the third inning and they promptly took him out when that became clear.

I just swing at everything and score off the reliever in the 3rd lol

🤣 I learned this after my first game in that conquest. cant hit that knuckleball even in Rookie 💀

i figured it out and now i love it. thanks bro

Don’t waste time surrounding them all…get to a stronghold and take it out 1 by 1…waste as little tiles as possible

For directional or zone?
It's under settings, control, offense on the bottom called guess pitch. my setting is on PCI but locked rn in a game so I can't mess with it.
He can be hammered if you display some patience. I lack this quality so I'll take my chances with Musgrove in the 4 hole.

SDS didn't make this decision. The Padres did, SDS followed suit to match the roster.
