Hate to break it to you guys, but you're going to need more than Bojangles to keep him out of LA because [we got those too](https://www.bojangles.com/news-and-community/bojangles-brings-chicken-and-biscuit-craze-to-los-angeles-county-with-multi-unit-franchise-agreement/).
Yes, but your fans have so many players to heap their devotion on. Griezmann will risk being overlooked. In Charlotte, he can stand alone as the sole object of our undying support.
[Feast your eyes, Griezmann. And your gastronomies.](https://www.10tv.com/article/money/business/guy-fieri-opens-italian-restaurant-columbus/530-3f27a77e-9990-44b9-a6df-f25a77bd4e72)
Then a search party it shall be.
Hint: I’m west of the Mississippi River.
Edit: I’m a little tipsy right now but it just occurred to me I’m also east of the Mississippi River. Just *really really really* east. Crossing the entirety of Eurasia east.
How often does Griezman play as an out and out striker? That's really what we'd need if Giorgos goes. We have plenty of crafty attacking mid type players. Not saying that's what Griez is, but he's seem to be more of a midfield attacking type player.
My honest opinion is that, for a player of Griezmann's caliber, it really doesn't matter all that much. He's creative enough, and consistent enough, to score goals in one of the best leagues in the world. I think he could knock in a few goals, from many positions, in MLS.
Yeah this would make sense if you were to lose Almada more than GG. But replacing a U22 star for a 33 year old for 15mil would be…. opposite direction.
It could make sense if Almada goes. Realistically, we're not expecting Almada to be here forever. So replacing him with someone of the quality of Griez would make sense if we could get 2-3 seasons out of him.
If we get someone young, they're just going to want to leave for Europe after 2-3 seasons. So either way is kind of the same in my eyes.
There are gambles to both options, going young or veteran.
Atlanta is too good at finding somebody that should’ve shot off to Europe to come to MLS for 2-3 seasons at a young age. If I were a fan, I’d prefer to stick to that model whenever possible. Let NY, LA, and Miami try to win with aged stars.
That's true, but we've also had our share young hot stars come in and turn out to be kind of flops. Under the newish leadership of Garth, that seems less likely, but it'll always be a gamble, and Griezman is someone that could come in and have a definite impact if Almada goes.
Mediocre is finishing outside the top four and a swift first round exit, a repeat of that result will get our manager fired (or just not have his contract renewed, as the case may be).
Galaxy can't make the DP slot for this season so unless they are able to get rid of one of their DPs or somehow have this deal not count as a DP deal for the second half of the season they're out. LAFC and Miami both could theoretically create another DP slot but I don't think Miami has the TAM they would need. My guess is LAFC if he joins MLS.
Fully agreed
It’s just too much work for Galaxy and too much turmoil
Lafc having an empty DP spot and giroud and lloris makes it way more likely he goes there
> somehow have this deal not count as a DP deal for the second half of the season
Based on the Zlatan shenanigans, since it's only half the year, and half the salary, you should be able to squeeze him in. Or just load up in year 2 with a discount year 1
I think the transfer fee would make this impossible, honestly. Even if he signed for 4.5 years, that's nearly $2m in transfer fee amortization without even considering salary
He’s on the grizzlies with this coming season as an expiring 3.5 mil
He didn’t play even with Morant out a bunch
I’d wager he’s available on the trade market if some team finds they didn’t plan well at PG by the deadline
Aka he’s gonna move with Griezmann not the other way around hahaha
Neither did I lol, but that man loves basketball. Heck, even the Bayer Leverkusen club took in a game at Chaifetz when they were in town for a friendly against City SC in 2022.
I get it, Utah isn’t an attractive option for most people but as a team RSL is about as attractive an option as there is in the league if a big named player wants to come over and immediately compete.
Also 2 open DP spots should be filled this summer
Look i like the idea, but as you said, it isn’t the sexy option. But if this hypothetically happened I think you guys have enough to beat Miami or Cincinnati in MLS Cup.
RSL has had 4 huge goalkeeper mistakes that led to goals the past few weeks but their defense has been top of the league the majority of the year. I’d love to see RSL go get one more really good winger to play on the left and move Luna inside. They’d compete with anybody then
If the Revs break ground on that stadium, it’s a possibility imo. He’d be “the guy” who ushered in a new era and would probably eat that shit up. Plus he’s a Celtics fan lol
He’s really just an NBA fan in general, but he does like the Celtics.
[2017 tweet](https://x.com/AntoGriezmann/status/881536890821914625)
There are other examples out there too.
Timing doesn't line up for the stadium, we're still five+ years out. We also would have to buy out Vrioni. Otherwise I actually think it's possible - would be a great move to change the direction of this team and a huge signal from ownership.
15 million as a transfer fee would be a bargain, but also worth keeping in mind that Griezmann appears to make approx 12 million euros a year in wages per Capology. That would make him 3rd highest paid in MLS behind Messi and Insigne.
Joe Roth ABSOLUTELY would've paid that back in the day.
Yes he was a dumbass at times, no question. But his ambition for the club could not be questioned.
It’s not a bad rule. These smaller market teams have a really tough time attracting these players. If they’re not even going to have a chance at signing them despite calling dibs, they could at least get paid off of putting the right player on their list. The rules have done a good job of keeping this league competitive all around.
The niners are one of the most famous sports teams in all of the U.S. with a crazy amount of history. It’s wild to me that y’all want to compare these highly successful franchises that can pull players on recent history alone….to the bottom of the table San Jose earthquakes. lol
I get the sentiment and I feel for smaller markets (crew fan here), but it is just so silly to me that a team that has nothing to do with the player in any capacity gets a reward for not being picked by said player.
Also, the salary cap and other rules go much further in keeping parity imo
Your last sentence is an insane logical jump
Even if you liked the discovery rights rule, who’s to say that that rule is actually what is keeping the league in parity?
Or affecting it at all?
We only know the rule exists, but we don’t know how it has affected past free agency decisions.
You could just as easily make an argument that it prevented players from signing to MLS at all because they didn’t wanna follow an arcane dibs system that has nothing to do with them
Far and away the biggest league policy promoting parity is the stringent salary cap. I don’t think any one other rule even approaches a meaningful contribution besides maybe homegrown territories
He would also have to agree to the move, so I highly doubt anything happens. He seems very happy at Atletico and is still performing near the top of his game.
Maybe this will change your perspective, it happened just the other day.

Yes. How could he ever leave Atleti where is so beloved?
That is something he would never want to do.
Now if you'll excuse me, 2019 is calling with some urgent news...
Orlando moving on from Ojeda and making this signing would make them a very dangerous attack.
DC also a team that could turn their season around with this addition
If ever there was a true star signing who would be a great fit for this Dynamo team it’s definitely Griezmann. A hybrid sort of forward who can play anywhere across the front 3 and isn’t afraid to get after it defensively? He already has Ben Olsen’s heart no doubt. Him and HH never quite overlapped at Atlético, but that doesn’t mean they can’t play together now.
Would literally be perfect for our offense, but zero chance he would come to Cincy. He would want to go to LA or maybe NY, at least a place with an NBA team lol
No rivalry hate, but why would you want a player that takes the ball off Acosta’s foot given his form for the last 16 months? I wouldn’t make this signing.
We have been playing dual 10's recently, or more so two free flowing 10/ false 9 position. Acosta is perfect at that, and Dado is growing into it. Griezmann would take Dado's spot and I think work perfectly with Acosta and Kelsey. Again, 0% chance this happens.
Please be us. Get on your knees fellow LAFC fans. We’ve become the French national team for this reason.
And while on your knees hold anything French in your hands.
Macaroons. Crepes. Lupin. Anything.
I think he came to Seattle a few days ago
[https://www.instagram.com/p/C7PooMBxf0O/?img\_index=1](https://www.instagram.com/p/C7PooMBxf0O/?img_index=1)
No way. LAFC doesn't pay transfer fees for Europeans unless he's a player they can try to flip.
Vela -Free
Bale -Free
Giorgio -Free
Lloris - Free
Giroud - Free
I don't see it. They already have Bouanga and Olivera playing his position.
Griezmann is crazy good at midfield. Did you not see him in the World Cup. With lloris and giroud there it’s very possible. Not to mention bouanga speaking French too. And the cherry on top would be if we somehow got vela back given how close those two are.
Charlotte has money, dp slots.... Dean smith... Bojangles...
It’s the Bojangles that will sway him.
As an Atlanta homer, I will say that the Cajun Filet Biscuit is superior to the CFA Spicy Sandwich.
CFA is (very good) fast food, Bojangles makes Fried Chicken, they’re in totally different weight classes, not even a competition
Ok so we have Bojangles and… an almost fanatical devotion to! … literally anyone who could score like any goals for us. Just any amount whatsoever.
But, we could reunite him with Giroud, Lloris and his old pal Vela and then complete the collection and become Los Angeles French Club
Yes, but your fans have so many players to heap their devotion on. Griezmann will risk being overlooked. In Charlotte, he can stand alone as the sole object of our undying support.
We could use a good 10. Long shot but crazier things have happened.
Columbus just recently opened a Bojangles Coincidence..?
[Feast your eyes, Griezmann. And your gastronomies.](https://www.10tv.com/article/money/business/guy-fieri-opens-italian-restaurant-columbus/530-3f27a77e-9990-44b9-a6df-f25a77bd4e72)
Hang me if you must but I find Bojangles a touch overrated.
Your execution will be at 7am tomorrow morning. Be there or we will form a search party
Then a search party it shall be. Hint: I’m west of the Mississippi River. Edit: I’m a little tipsy right now but it just occurred to me I’m also east of the Mississippi River. Just *really really really* east. Crossing the entirety of Eurasia east.
Flair up!
Let’s see now. I’m Atlanta born and raised. I follow r/atlantahawks, r/braves, r/falcons. Take a wild guess.
You ain't wrong, and they is always out of Ham.
I’ll take Bojangles over Popeyes any day
If GG gets moved to Mexico, ATL is in need of some firepower 🤔
How often does Griezman play as an out and out striker? That's really what we'd need if Giorgos goes. We have plenty of crafty attacking mid type players. Not saying that's what Griez is, but he's seem to be more of a midfield attacking type player.

CB Griezmann it is. If it doesn't work out Pineda will pull a vermes and show your comment on an Ipad.
God damn it. We've become a meme team on and off the field this year. At least in previous years there was a chance of winning the on-field battle.
My only shot at fame.
Yeah this would make sense if you were to lose Almada more than GG. But replacing a U22 star for a 33 year old for 15mil would be…. opposite direction.
It could make sense if Almada goes. Realistically, we're not expecting Almada to be here forever. I’d love to see him in MLS. I’d hate to see him with Atlanta lol. Yall can put a team together and somehow we keep crossing paths
We've been somewhere between terrible and mediocre for five straight years, the model ain't exactly working
If mediocre is playoffs then that’s a good sign
Mediocre is finishing outside the top four and a swift first round exit, a repeat of that result will get our manager fired (or just not have his contract renewed, as the case may be).
Stuck behind a front three of thiare, saba, and Almada? That’s some firepower
If he came to MLS what are likely destinations other than LAFC or Miami? I personally could see San Diego or Galaxy making a play here.
Galaxy can't make the DP slot for this season so unless they are able to get rid of one of their DPs or somehow have this deal not count as a DP deal for the second half of the season they're out. Griezmann to 901 FC just like everyone expected
He's still in the league?! Feels like that dude's been playing for 20 years.
Your not far off he’s been in the league for 16 years.
Plenty of French in Georgetown he'll be right at chez
Any town with a decent NBA team
So obviously not dc bc holy crap the wizards suck
Not an NBA team, but we have the D1 SLU Billikens with Cream Abdul Jabbar on the roster.
Never thought I’d see a Bills reference on the MLS subreddit!
Neither did I lol, but that man loves basketball. Heck, even the Bayer Leverkusen club took in a game at Chaifetz when they were in town for a friendly against City SC in 2022.
You forgot to mention Houston
Herrera connection
The guy is super into the NBA. I don't see him anywhere that doesn't have an NBA team
I get it, Utah isn’t an attractive option for most people but as a team RSL is about as attractive an option as there is in the league if a big named player wants to come over and immediately compete. Also 2 open DP spots should be filled this summer

And well worth it
Man I love Griezmann, he’s a very versatile player
This is the perfect time for our NFL MVP part owner Patrick Mahomes to call up Griezmann and get him to KC. Let’s get ambitious!!!
We could use him. 🤷
Good thing he’s best friends with Julio Rodriguez. Make that man move to the PNW Julio
That would be hilarious if someone (anyone) came to the Sounders because they were a Mariners fan
We really could. We need creativity and distribution. We’re playing like we’re out of ideas.
There is zero chance the Sounders owners pay that kind of money.
Greizman for 15 million? That's a pretty good price I think. But yeah.....
Joe Roth ABSOLUTELY would've paid that back in the day. Yes he was a dumbass at times, no question. But his ambition for the club could not be questioned.
But i heard that San Jose has his discovery rights...lol...some of these rules need to go.
Griezman is a big basketball fan so hopefully the warriors could allure him to the quakes! In reality, he cost money and our owner is a cock.
It’s not a bad rule. These smaller market teams have a really tough time attracting these players. If they’re not even going to have a chance at signing them despite calling dibs, they could at least get paid off of putting the right player on their list. The rules have done a good job of keeping this league competitive all around.
The Bay Area isn't a small market. Would you call the 49ers, Giants, or the Warriors small market teams? The Quakes just have a cheap owner.
Imagine what we could have if we had a competent owner. Bay Area is craving a good soccer team.
Living in San Francisco and living in San Jose are two very different things
Well the niners play in san jose
santa clara technically but the stadiums are like 10 mins apart lol
The niners are one of the most famous sports teams in all of the U.S. with a crazy amount of history. It’s wild to me that y’all want to compare these highly successful franchises that can pull players on recent history alone….to the bottom of the table San Jose earthquakes. lol
im not comparing i just said the niners play in san jose, cuz the guy said they didnt

That’s cool bro I ain’t reading allat
Yeah they just need to rename it because "discovery rights" sounds stupid. It's a good rule though. Just call it Dibs.
He would also have to agree to the move, so I highly doubt anything happens. He seems very happy at Atletico and is still performing near the top of his game.
He’s said a few times he’d like to play in the MLS
that's not the same as wanting to leave atletico/agreeing to a transfer.
1st question: Who has his discovery rights? 2nd question: Time for MLS to repay the Fire for screwing them on Drogba?
AG loves the Mariners and loves Julio. Make of that information what you will
The Mariners have a better chance of signing him than the Sounders.
I like the optimism, lol
Dude is buddies with Mahomes and the chiefs are his NFL team. Ohhhh who am I kidding.
He posted a selfie in a Mariners jersey to his IG one time a while ago. So 🤷♂️
Wasn't that this week?
I don’t follow him, but the instance I’m thinking of was ~2 years ago
Oh. Yeah. Seattle was in New York playing the Yanks and Griezmann was wearing Seattle jersey/hat or something.
I wonder if he’ll make the switch given how well he is doing. LAFC still has an open DP slot and 2 of his national team teammates on board.
FC Dallas ⭐️
As cheap as the Hunts are, they're probably looking to sign Griezmann's 3rd cousin twice removed.
Need Trae and Sarr to pitch this man on Atlanta. Get us a package on French studs this summer
Any city without an NBA team is out.....which means, no Sounders 😢
Maybe this will change your perspective, it happened just the other day. [https://www.instagram.com/p/C7eQpnhqNxh/](https://www.instagram.com/p/C7eQpnhqNxh/) [https://www.instagram.com/p/C7PooMBxf0O/?img\_index=1](https://www.instagram.com/p/C7PooMBxf0O/?img_index=1)
Maybe we can sell him on the idea of being part owner of the SuperSonics
Itll never happen. But god i would love for him to reunite with Hector Herrera here in houston. He is exactly what we are missing
He’s a big KD fan and he’s a Union owner but we have no money lol
Even if you had money, you wouldn’t spend it
It’d go to Sugarman’s private helicopter. Fuel is expensive these days.
That and KD plays in Phoenix
But he owns the Union? Did you read the comment? Kd could easily be like play for my team my guy…
He’s also a Harden fan who of course is a minority owner with the Dynamo
Austin isn't far from Wemb Antonio.
I know it's unrealistic. But I'd love to have Griezmann in Philly.
Y’all will sign the danish or Eastern Europe Greizmann and be (forced to be) happy with it
Zero chance griezemann wants to leave the place that he’s so beloved and adores himself and hasn’t even said he wants to dance anything but stay
He's mentioned previously that he would like to play in the MLS at some point in his career.
Yes. How could he ever leave Atleti where is so beloved? That is something he would never want to do. Now if you'll excuse me, 2019 is calling with some urgent news...
Do you not think the context is different now since coming back and becoming the all time goal scorer?
Not especially, no. He has been open about his desire to play in MLS as well. He's not going to finish his career in Spain.
Hopefully he knows that it's pretty fucking sweet to be rich in more than 3-4 American cities
Needs a French manager.
Please, for the love of god, come to KC. We need you.
Never going to happen but Revs need major help….
👀 Boup out Griezmann in
Would literally be perfect for our offense, but zero chance he would come to Cincy. He would want to go to LA or maybe NY, at least a place with an NBA team lol
No rivalry hate, but why would you want a player that takes the ball off Acosta’s foot given his form for the last 16 months? I wouldn’t make this signing.
He fits the Boup/Benner position in Noonan's system perfectly, it's a hybrid 10/9 position.
We have been playing dual 10's recently, or more so two free flowing 10/ false 9 position. Acosta is perfect at that, and Dado is growing into it. Griezmann would take Dado's spot and I think work perfectly with Acosta and Kelsey. Again, 0% chance this happens.
Would look good in rave green.
Deep pockets Jimmy Haslam needs to bring him to the Crew
Cucho Rossi Griezmann would be unfair. I do expect us to buy down Nagbe and move for another DP at some point, probably not him though lol
Alright, Orlando our time has come to spend some real fucking money.
Wording makes it sound like this is a novel clause; what is it?
OK serious question what team should he really be going to? Where does he actually fit in the best?
Pretty much every team.
NYCFC
CLT needs a DP forward
Get on it Ned!
LEVY
![gif](giphy|DB2oahQFa0qeQ)
Make it happen Mike!!
Please be us. Get on your knees fellow LAFC fans. We’ve become the French national team for this reason. And while on your knees hold anything French in your hands. Macaroons. Crepes. Lupin. Anything.
Come on Bez. We can get him
Would kill for Griezman
Unfortunately, I see LAFC as the likely option if he came to the US.
I think he came to Seattle a few days ago [https://www.instagram.com/p/C7PooMBxf0O/?img\_index=1](https://www.instagram.com/p/C7PooMBxf0O/?img_index=1)
He could turn around a shit season fast for Seattle!
No way. LAFC doesn't pay transfer fees for Europeans unless he's a player they can try to flip. Vela -Free Bale -Free Giorgio -Free Lloris - Free Giroud - Free I don't see it. They already have Bouanga and Olivera playing his position.

Whitecaps cheap fooks need to get in there. Get the league to chip in a la Pessi
