Thanks, gaporter. “The Army also stated that it anticipates that version 1.2 will achieve its desired capabilities, including improved software reliability, improved low light sensor performance, and improved physical design. According to the Army, the program office tested and conducted user assessments for the first two prototype builds of IVAS 1.2 and received positive soldier feedback and test results. Three additional prototype builds and test events are planned, according to the Army, including an operational test in the third quarter of fiscal year 2025 that will inform a production decision in the following quarter. The Army stated that the program plans to begin fielding version 1.2 in the first quarter of fiscal year 2026.”

Great discussion in the second link you shared, thanks.

Third and then fourth Q ‘25 for confirmation, fielding in ‘26. I’d say that lines up with SS’ statements about our NED vertical. It’s great news, in particular getting these solidifying timelines. Serious volumes won’t appear with IVAS for a while yet. I expect a real consumer form factor to follow IVAS success and deeply sorting out display and waveguides. Half measures in XR/AR have proven uninspiring to the public. Headsets with compromises in capability aren’t worth the costs (cash, discomfort, impracticality for public use) to consumers. The glasses form factor is a major ask, but IMO the necessary evolution for AR etc to be more than a niche/hobby market. What needs to happen for the bigs to seriously pursue that? They need to understand the tech that can/cannot do it, have access to it, and the public needs to have their imaginations captured by the possibilities of having something like that. That, to me, makes IVAS the closest big opportunity and probably still key for the entire emerging sector. This in turn may make MSFT a better “partner” than many of us feel. It fits SS’ hard pivot into lidar and gives a layered bridging the gap sort of strategy where industrial lidar is meant to carry us to automotive, which in turn should launch us back into an AR market that is then ready to get going.

More interestingly, they mention a "semi-active laser sensor" for vision to be built in a bomb alongside other sensors. Which could refer to lidar.
