https://fortune.com/2024/07/03/elon-musk-tesla-bill-gates-obliterate-short-sellers-ai-robots-autonomy/ Having been shorted for years by a what many think is a related company that wants to short MVIS at .17 cents, I can relate… Setting all those world records for shorting MVIS has to have some dark money connections. So I can relate to this headline.

Speeeeedislife

My offer on a house got accepted today, woo!

socalloc

You know something… Congrats! 🎉🍾

Speeeeedislife

Thanks! We'll see, time's a ticking!

Streetduck

Woot!!!

snowboardnirvana

Congratulations!

whanaungatanga

Congrats, speeeeed!!! Hope inspection and closing goes as planned.

Speeeeedislife

Thanks all! Us too, so far everything has been looking good. After we close I need to figure out local laws for building structures above fence height, hoping I can build a climbing wall on the side of the house and grow some evergreens along the fence perimeter so neighbor's can't see.

zeebs-

Congrats! Best feeling

ElderberryExternal99

Excellent! Hope everything goes smoothly for the closing.

Falagard

Congrats!

LTL12

LAZR has an announcement. Anyone else see it and could post about it?

Rocket_the_cat27

See comments below: https://www.reddit.com/r/MVIS/s/CuAz1Eq12P

LTL12

Thx for being directed to the section that I addresses LAZR’s new software release. I’m not sure what the end outcome is whether it’s good or bad or not known as of yet

TheRealNiblicks

I don't think we need a post about it: https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20240703502221/en/

FitImportance1

Ha ha, if we knew then we probably wouldn’t need to be hanging out here! Good luck to us All though…I, for one, still think it’s imminent!

ElderberryExternal99

A $1.10 works. A Fit Fireworks show would be interesting ;>)

FitImportance1

I did something along those lines that I’ll put up later.

ElderberryExternal99

Excellent!

Zenboy66

Looks like barcoding for the rest of the day.

Apprehensive-Draw-10

Picked up 2400 between yesterday and today. Will continue to add below my average every couple of weeks. Cracked 70k shares and average cost per share now 1.85. Love the sparklers today before the fireworks on the 4th!

What-Even-Is-That

Holding strong here, brother.

BAFF-username

My bot order at $1.12 got executed, yay!

FawnTheGreat

Some cushion above 1 going into the holiday is nice. Hopefully it holds up. I’m starting to feel that pressure again, it’s real season coming up! Right??..right?! Someone’s gotta win something eventually

sonny_laguna

Expecting a pullback any second now, but at least something’s happening.

Zenboy66

Yup, right on time. Drive the price up then down. We should be in the Vegas betting parlors, you know exactly what they do every day.

oxydiethylamide

Buckle up.

Affectionate-Tea-706

All Lidar stocks are gaining. Getting some holiday love perhaps

Nakamura9812

All of the volume is pretty much with us and LAZR.

I'll take it.

For what it's worth, keep an eye on LG [https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/lg-innotek-aims-to-grow-its-vehicle-sensing-solution-business-into-a-1-4-billion-usd-operation-by-2030--302188614.html](https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/lg-innotek-aims-to-grow-its-vehicle-sensing-solution-business-into-a-1-4-billion-usd-operation-by-2030--302188614.html) Given the current fiscal challenges for every LiDAR company, consolidation across the board is inevitable in the coming months. I'm not tying LG to MVIS or doing any dot connecting, but I'm a big believer that sector wide consolidation is coming. The reasons are clear and obvious. Enjoy your holiday everyone.

Klutzy-Stage4520

I agree and am concerned that we end up selling or consolidating the business with another company at or close to the value we are at now.

sublimetime2

New profile here with 2 posts. One fluffing Ineego and another saying he's worried there is no extra value. Slingers gonna sling am I right?

Buur

I believe a decent industrial contract for MOVIA would at least double our market cap from here and seems likely in the short-term (posting forklift video week after week must account for something, right?). Don't think they would settle for selling at our current market cap after all the work they've done in the last few years. Hoping Q2 shows some movement on MOVIA sales which should give us all a sigh of relief.

snowboardnirvana

It appears that the automotive OEMs are playing a game of attrition regarding their choices of LIDAR suppliers, either intentionally or due to upheaval in the automotive market resulting from previous bad decisions as well as global macroeconomic headwinds. For whatever reason, we are in a Darwinian struggle of survival of the fittest automotive LIDAR suppliers. I remain confident that Sumit has developed the correct strategy to avoid saddling MicroVision with low margin or negative margin, low volume contracts foisted upon some of our competitors.

alexyoohoo

I think it will be difficult for a Korean company to buy Mvis bc of the defense reasons.

gaporter

"We will continue to operate under the eMagin name in our Hopewell Junction, New York facilities and serve our valued military, medical and commercial customers." https://finance.yahoo.com/news/samsung-display-completes-acquisition-emagin-134100077.html The real question is whether or not Microsoft will let the technology go to another suitor.

minivanmagnet

A response from Dave Allen at IR in April 2021 regarding a question about whether or not entities other than the April 2017 customer are eligible for acquisition of the AR vertical: "As the Company previously said all options regarding a strategic alternative are on the table. " Let's hope we don't hear anything about our negotiating hands being tied.

QQpenn

It will not be difficult [https://www.thedefensepost.com/2023/12/15/south-korea-ghost-robotics/](https://www.thedefensepost.com/2023/12/15/south-korea-ghost-robotics/) EDIT: and MVIS has no military contracts, obligations, stipulations.

Speeeeedislife

Agreed.

alexyoohoo

I don’t think the tech is in the same secret category as a robotic dog.

actor13cy

Which companies' patents do you think they acquired?

picklocksget_money

They bought IP from Argo who had bought IP from Princeton Lightwave

actor13cy

Thanks Pick

picklocksget_money

Looking at [this gentleman](https://patents.justia.com/inventor/mark-itzler) you can see the path. Some IP still assigned to Princeton, some to Argo and some (very recently) assigned to LG.

QQpenn

Acquired Argo patents in April. Another FWIW, Sumit singled out Argo on a FC chat I participated in years ago but I'm not sure I'd read anything into that.

actor13cy

Thanks Q

Muad_dweeb_69

Regardless, it seems like news regarding LiDAR is heating up again after being pretty quiet for a long time. My hope is that is a signal for OEMs to finally start making high volume decisions.

Surfinsteel

MM in the Hampton’s by now. We good !

J-Wailin

Looks like someone forgot to turn on the naked shorting algorithm before they left

zeebs-

Let’s ride into the holiday green!

South_Sample9257

Y'all see the luminar sentinel full stack PR? Sounds like we were ahead of the game on this [software](https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20240703502221/en/Luminar-Launches-Sentinel-Software-for-Automakers)

baverch75

Ah! Surely Volvo can just install 'Sentinel' in the EX90 and get the LAZR lidar to perform its intended function! No?

view-from-afar

Yes, surely. Right?

view-from-afar

>[Footnote 1] Sentinel has not reached technological feasibility and remains in development. The Development Kits are not working models of a production release version.

Fett8459

"Nice CAD you got there. Using anyone else's graphics this time?"

MavisBAFF

How many years will it take them to be qualified by OEMs? It was prescient of Sumit and team to acquire already-qualified software. Just more evidence of MVIS being years ahead, despite OEMs not yet signaling this to the market by making a decision on high volume. “…with the intent to be evaluated by automakers and technology companies for potential integration into future advanced safety and autonomous driving programs.”

snowboardnirvana

> How many years will it take them to be qualified by OEMs? In the same way, how many years will it take Mobileye to develop its own LIDAR and get it qualified? The chess pieces are on the board and the game is in play…exciting times!

sublimetime2

Mobileye and Intel are in negotiation and have suspended their lidar development. ME started pursuing new tech sometime in 2023. Intel can go after different lidar as well and hold all the power. Something else to note is that Intel sold $1.5 billion stake of ME 6/5/2023.

snowboardnirvana

>”**Luminar’s Sentinel suite is a solution currently in-development** to enable advanced safety and autonomous functionality with automakers, leveraging Luminar’s LiDAR hardware and AI-based software technologies developed primarily in-house by its software teams in Silicon Valley and Munich, Germany, with support from 3rd party software partners including Scale AI, Applied Intuition, and Civil Maps, which Luminar acquired in 2022.” We’re ready NOW! Edit: Luminar’s Halo is a CGI in development as well, just as Volvo’s EX90 software is in development. It’s an In Development match made in heaven, lol. Truly sorry for LAZR investors and for Volvo, a once respected name.

Revolutionary_Ear908

Was just about to type your exact message after reading the article! Thanks always, snow.

sublimetime2

What is amazing to me is that the LAZR reddit board and stocktwits is outright ignoring this risk disclaimer saying LAZR software doesnt work. This has gone on for years. They wont post it or read it. Some of their top posters continue to make this mistake even today which tells me they are purposely avoiding it and ignoring it because the community is astroturfed. It is pretty obvious. I also think it is apparent that Volvo/Zenseact and Luminar are the reason the EX90 wont have the lidar safety features. This isnt only on Volvo. Luminar was supposed to help with software from the start. I think and have heard in several places that OEMs were waiting to see how the Volvo ADAS role out went. This is embarrassing for the lidar/ADAS community and IMO Sumit hinted towards how this changed the outlook of the sector.

whanaungatanga

This feels to me like a sleight of hand pr meant to distract.

sublimetime2

If Volvo/Zenseact were supposed to deliver Luminar's perception software and Luminar says their perception software isnt ready, how can they release a car with lidar safety features? The answer is, you have it only collecting data to start until Luminar completes its software. You are right, todays PR was a clear distraction from the failure. "Zenseact is responsible for delivering its OnePilot software and **Luminar’s perception software** to Volvo Cars, while Luminar is responsible for providing the holistic Sentinel solution to other automakers." Luminar 2021 [https://www.luminartech.com/updates/luminar-unveils-industrys-first-full-stack-autonomous-system-for-series-production-with-zenseact](https://www.luminartech.com/updates/luminar-unveils-industrys-first-full-stack-autonomous-system-for-series-production-with-zenseact) "We are currently working on developing perception and decision-making software products, including the Proactive Safety™ and highway autonomy features as well as the Sentinel solution, **all of which are important components of our business plan and which have not achieved ongoing technological feasibility** as of the end of the 2023 fiscal year."  Luminar annual report. "**We are in the process of developing perception**, decision-making and mapping software. As of the end of the first quarter of 2024, **most of our software products had not achieved technological feasibility**." Luminar q1 2024 "The EX90 will come with lidar as standard, which will allow the car to see in the dark up to two football fields away once it is fully activated. You’ll notice the lidar is mounted on the roof above the windshield. **At delivery, it will be collecting road data to learn new safety scenarios. After a period of time, it will be activated to be part of the car’s Safe Space Technology."**

view-from-afar

How long is a "period of time", one wonders.

snowboardnirvana

> What is amazing to me is that the LAZR reddit board and stocktwits is outright ignoring this risk disclaimer Thanks, sublimetime2. I don’t regularly follow the LAZR Reddit board or stocktwits, looking at them only rarely. It is an embarrassment for the LIDAR/ADAS community and this and other “fake it until you make it” SPAC competitors have made it more difficult for us to get a commitment from OEMs. What is an investor to think if Sumit has been asked if MVIS can make our LIDAR bigger to fill the hole?

MyComputerKnows

It is unreal how many huge basic problems Luminar has. Crappy software that won’t work… complicated lidar with 27 moving parts and expensive flaky mirrors on spinning shafts. Yet the brain-free Market keeps pinning the award on them that they are the market leaders… somehow… despite their also crappy stock price.

Speeeeedislife

"crappy software that won't work" is based on what? Better not say Volvo.

snowboardnirvana

> Yet the brain-free Market keeps pinning the award on them that they are the market leaders… somehow… It’s partly due to the media promotion of the “young genius phenomenon” which gave us Elizabeth Holmes (Theranos), Sam Bankman Fried (FTX) and others.

Hurryupslowdownbar20

Snow- I too instantly thought of Elizabeth Holmes being the darling of the health-tech world when I read the comment from u/MyComputerKnows about how the market wants to see Austin as the next kid-genius or whatever..

Befriendthetrend

Her ex-husband was close with Austin Russell and worked at Luminar. > Evans was reportedly close with Luminar's CEO, Austin Russell. He acted as Russell's "secret police" who would "strut around the office and tell people what to do," the New York Post reports. > https://www.businessinsider.com/elizabeth-holmes-theranos-everything-about-fiance-william-billy-evans-2019-3?amp

snowboardnirvana

It seems to be a recurrent theme that investors should be aware of.

Befriendthetrend

MicroVision hasn’t done anything to change the narrative. One partnership with an automotive OEM and we are off to the races.. amazing the company has failed to generate any recognition outside of the Luxoft “collaboration” that still has zero revenue associated with it 7 months after it was announced.

Zenboy66

Why aren't we touting our products that are ready like Luminar?

Befriendthetrend

Luminar’s touting products that aren’t even ready. MicroVision isn’t touting anything at all. Sumit’s philosophy seems to be like that of Jay-Z: *You let your sh-t bubble quietly (and then you blow!)*

Zenboy66

Yup, but we need some good news that is firm, sooner than later.

Worldly_Initiative29

I’m getting to the point where I’d like to see some tooting at our own horn as well. We have been quiet long enough.

Morning everyone! Economic report(s) for the day is(are)^[i](https://fidelityfiplus.econoday.com/byweek): MBA Mortgage Applications at 7am, Challenger Job-Cut Repot at 7:30, ADP Employment Report at 8:15, International Trade in Goods and Servers at 8:30, Jobless Claims at 8:30, PMI Composite Final at 9:45, Factory Orders at 10, ISM Services Index at 10, EIA Petroleum Status Report at 10:30, EIA Natural Gas Report at 12pm, and the FOMC Minutes at 2pm; Fed speaker Williams is at 7am. The stock market close early today at 1pm in advance of the Holiday, so after a brief period of being open today, we have off until Friday. The news media is noting insurance costs in some parts of the US increasing, Foreign economies and money markets facing some challenges as well as unusual movements, and Job openings increasing with the summer hiring. Premarket futures are flat for the S&P and Nasdaq while the Dow and Russell 2k are up in early trading. MVIS moved up 0.95% in the last trading session as most of the sector continued to slide a bit further. Any number of possible reasons could be read into this, however without announcements of large volume deals, it doesn’t make sense for any of the companies to be rising against the trend of the sector either. The deals signed so far have not been intended for any large volume contracts, and automakers are not rushing picking any specific lidar to fulfill their needs for those large volumes just yet. The delaying has put most of the companies in the sector in a fairly rough position, and much of this indecision may well be due to a lack of confidence in consumer demand for these products with some players taking to markets incomplete products that have some car buyers reconsidering the available options. Only China has managed to move forward with lidar implementation so far, with China based automakers seeking to sell more vehicles in Europe. ## Daily Data *** |H: 1.07 — L: 1.03 — C: 1.06 ^[i](https://chartexchange.com/symbol/nasdaq-mvis/historical/) |[Calendar](https://fidelityfiplus.econoday.com/byweek.asp)| |:- |:-| |**Pivots ↗︎ : 1.08, 1.09, 1.12** ^([i](https://www.investopedia.com/terms/p/pivotpoint.asp)) |**Pivots ↘︎ : 1.04, 1.01, 1.00**| |Total Options Vol: 1,195 ^([i](https://researchtools.fidelity.com/ftgw/mloptions/goto/underlyingStatistics?cusip=&symbol=MVIS&Search=Search)) |Avg 90d Options: 1,698| |Calls: 959 ~ 54% at Ask or ↗︎ |Puts: 236 ~ 65% at Bid or ↘︎| |Open Exchanges: 383k ~ 49% ^[i](https://chartexchange.com/symbol/nasdaq-mvis/exchange-volume/) |Off Exchanges: 393k ~ 51% ^[i](https://chartexchange.com/symbol/nasdaq-mvis/exchange-volume/)| |**IBKR: 400k Rate: 30.03%** ^[i](https://chartexchange.com/symbol/nasdaq-mvis/borrow-fee/) |**Fidelity: 129k Rate: 11.25%**| |**R Vol: 28% of Avg Vol: 2,756k** ^([i](https://www.investopedia.com/terms/a/averagedailytradingvolume.asp)) |**Short Vol: 193k of 431k ~ 45%** ^[i](https://chartexchange.com/symbol/nasdaq-mvis/short-volume/?tblshortvolix=0)| ^(Follow links for sources. Surfinsteel

T, what do you mean by lack of consumer demand ? Economic problems being experienced by people that would cause a lack of new car purchases ? Or , the fact that drivers don’t want this tech ?

T_Delo

Consumers are going to do cost:value analysis, if they cannot see the value, then the demand for the capabilities is lessened, but there is also the macroeconomic aspects of whether it is anticipated that consumers will have the cash to shell out for such potentially optional features (at least until 2029 where I believe the need for lidar is necessary).

HeyNow846

I enjoy watching that fee rate rise. Have a great 4th!

Alkisax

Happy Fourth T ☕️and thank you as always!

TechNut52

Happy 4th u/T_Delo. I'm glad you mentioned the effects and burden OEMs are causing for all the Adas Lidar innovators. Big suppliers with big bank accounts aren't innovating so it's up to us. If the OEMs don't get their act together future innovations can be affected. So will VW come up with something creative like they did with Rivian? But that would mean they will need to pick a technology for a multi-year commitment.
