Also I think people aren’t saying this enough but Alyla Browne did a great job of portraying an even younger Furiosa with mostly facial expression, she also gave the same energy and gravitas to the character that Anya and Charlize brought.
While she was only in a small part of the film she left an impression on me alongside Anya and I think she could very well become a famous actress some day

I enjoyed it very much. Didn't read anything around prior to it, but after, seeing there is so much hate and it's doing kinda bad felt a bit disheartening. For a spinoff this was pretty amazing.
for sure.
but fuck the haters. they said the same shit about *Fury Road*, and now USE IT as an example compared to *Furiosa!*
enjoy this movie while its playing in the best theater visuals. they can miss out and eat dicks at home.
I think last screenings in Dolby should be ending soon.
And 4DX will be ending soon too.
Man, nowadays liking some films and videogames is like being a soccer fanatic, it's gotta be war with the opposite side. I can enjoy something others don't and the same way around. I don't know why some people make it so personal.
People should just enjoy what they like and move on with what they don't. Of course constructive criticism is always an option, so much as opinions. But getting so visceral about hating a film is a bit strange to me.
This ofc isn't directed at you, or at anyone in particular. Just some thoughs.
ya well, the patterns are obvious as to who's waging those wars...
and i would fucking love to witness any shred of constructive criticism from these losers.
the problem is most of them have not even watched the movie.
It’s an interesting social phenomenon of the internet how cults form so easily and people with unhealthy mental attitudes easily find many people with similar issues and believe they find validation, reinforcing those pathologies as a herd.
>"It’s an interesting social phenomenon"
It is no longer interesting to me.
*\*Brian Cox voice\**
I'm bored. I'm fucking BORED.
Watching these clowns do the same act since 2013, just rebranding their words.
"anti-SJW" is now just "anti-woke".
same shit, same play-by-play.
especially during an election cycle.
gotta crank that misogyny waaaaay up during the presidential election year, increase chances men vote right-wing/republican/conservative.
they will scrape the *bottom of the barrel* to find anything to rail about women right now.
in our case, *Furiosa*, because??? woman character????
just dogwhistle it as "woke", et viola
boring and MEDIOCRE.
It’s funny cos the people who complained that Fury Road was ‘woke’ because Furiosa ‘upstaged’ Max are still complaining that the Furiosa film is ‘woke’ despite the fact you could make a similar argument that Dementus ‘upstaged’ Furiosa.
I saw a Nerdrotic YouTube headline ‘why Furiosa flopped - Hollywood girlbossed too close to the sun’ and it made my blood boil. These people have no sense of critical thinking and are just pushing an agenda. Best to ignore.
the only upside i have found from these "anti-woke" youtube movie reviews is now I know which reviewers are absolute morons and to never listen to for opinions on any movies ever.
>These people have no sense of critical thinking and are just pushing an agenda.
no sense of critical thinking doesn't even begin to cover it.
the comment sections alone should be studied by learning disability specialists.
honestly, even this claim that "Hollywood poisoned the well" so no one wants to watch female protagonist movies is just lacking.
female-centered characters have been shit on for ages.
Hollywood didn't fuck up some magical time period where people looooved female action heroes.
it never existed.
and even if you want to say "ok ya, but now people hate female roles EVEN MORE because of hollywood", that's just such a stretch to actually show.
you wrote below that Hollywood has been:
>"virtue signalling, disrespecting IPs, shaming, needlessly gender swapping when it doesn't make sense, etc... for about a decade straight now, and people are sick of it and uninterested in these films now."
and that just sounds like the standard hate that has been around for ages.
the same complaints being meted out even BEFORE a movie, tv show even got made.
and that's how they're acting now with Furiosa.
There are TONS of people openly admitting they haven't even WATCHED the fucking movie, but still continue to start shitting on it, and telling people not to go see it.
so this whole "it's Hollywood's fault people are sexist/assholes/dumb as fuck!" is just too much of an excuse.
Yup. That’s the manipulated version taking advantage of the tribalism. I had a neighbour who was a senior executive at newscorp that owns Fox. He said Rupert just chortles with glee at manipulating gullible people by whipping up lowest common denominator fears to feel validated about their prejudices and vote against their own self interests if it means he can make more money from his corporate investments and gain power and influence to select govts that he thinks he will benefit from. Funny how conspiracy theorists talk about hidden secret deepstates etc (code for old racist tropes) when the real conspirators openly run media empires and fund lobbyist organisations to prevent any form of trickle down effect happening
mmmm lil bit of both. depending on the mood
sometimes you want to decipher the semiotic nuclear codes George leaves you in the movies.
other times you want to debate how exactly Dementus lost his nipples.
Ok here’s some criticism: the effects, mostly the CG looked absolutely terrible especially in the first couple chapters. The best part of the movie was the part incels hate, but the visuals, action, and “mad max” of it all was bad.
Furiosa’s character arc and the story in general was great. But the movie looked like shit a lot of the time in ways that were totally unnecessary.
For example in one of the early scenes in the green place, they CG’ed a woman walking down some stairs and it looked terrible. Like, why? Just get a real actor to walk down some stairs.
Or the obvious green screen when Furiosa and her mom were on the bike in the canyon. Like they had practical shots literally in the same canyon, why CG? And if you must CG due to re-shoots or something, why use the stereotypical b-movie green screen front-on camera angle?
The world building was also ok, but there was much more in Fury Road and was disappointing by comparison.
Yeah the green screen an cgi was shit. I don’t understand why every one is talking about the world building , I don’t think any think is expanded upon from fury road . They talked about the green place in fury road then in furiosa never bothered to really show it . All we know now is Immortan Joe was apply to sustain the green place on the top of his citadel and the ones who had the green place fucked it some how .
And for some reason after furiosa escaped Immortan Joes vault , she never bothered going home for like 15 years .
George Miller should make a movie about those kinds of cults, and the effects they can have on the world, the people themselves, and the individual struggles.....
oh... wait.
people are saying Dolby is also a great, if not better experience!
if you're gonna do a rewatch, definitely check it out in Dolby.
idk about your area, but our Dolby theater is airing fucking Bad Boys II soon, I think next week actually, so no more *Furiosa* in crispy crisp Dolby for me :(
just want to give others a heads up to have a great experience too, before Dolby isn't available anymore!
I saw Venom in 4DX and swore I would never again go that route. More of a distraction and adds zero enjoyment to the movie. The only time I want liquid being shot at me is when in a shower or part of a sex act.
lmao this you?

>"it’s great to get a bit of deeper look into the lore of that world and its characters"
yesss
and this sub has been great for picking up even more detail
I finally understand why Dementus had his nipples ripped off!
now that's what I call WORLDBUILDING
I consider Thunderdome, Fury Road, and Furiosa a world-study, with individual stories added in so people go see them.
The whole universe is incredible, and I want to see more of it.
right? I mean, the more I learn, the more I realize just HOW MUCH George Miller actually storyboarded, thought of.
it's actually so nuts how much lore we still don't have access to

I'm so proud of this sub.
I thought it was an absolute feast. I am a huge fan of The Road Warrior, and always thought Fury Road lacked something story-wise. This just floored me with its ambition, its story, its characters, the imagery, and the care taken in putting it all together. Miller has always essentially been remaking the same idea, and this, to me, was probably his magnum opus; he's refined it to near-perfection. This film is an extremely bold cinematic statement by a creator at the top of his game. Then there's the photography: incredible, aerial shots of the Horde, or that great panning shot of Dementus watching from afar as the rig gets ambushed in silence. The soon-to-be iconic Red Dementus shot is just beautiful, and there are so many others. I think it might be Miller's best work, and an absolute school in what he does. Hemsworth also deserves a ton of praise for it.
hmm depends on who's words you mean ;)
The dialogue in Furiosa is stripped even further down than *Fury Road.*
Anya Taylor-Joy only had 30 lines.
Charlize Theron had 80.
Tom Hardy had 63.
[NME | Anya Taylor-Joy only has 30 lines of dialogue in ‘Furiosa’, went “months” without speaking on set](https://www.nme.com/news/film/anya-taylor-joy-only-has-30-lines-of-dialogue-in-furiosa-went-months-without-speaking-on-set-3755963)
Our babygrrl more stoic than Mad Max <333

Sigh. Typical reddit-warrior answer to a genuine statement. That will teach me.
You are talking about lines by an actor, for a character played by three actors, in a movie with more dialogue, because of how the first movie was filmed, which I don't care to write about.
lol i'm not trying to fight you or "teach" you anything
I literally put a winky face in my first line
I'm not arguing, I was thinking about your answer and fleshing out my own thoughts
hence the "hmm"
that's my thinking noise.
I was literally memeing at the end
This is me exactly!! Road warrior is my favorite and this is the closest to that IMO. Fury road was good but like you said the story was much better in furiosa. Everything was awesome...even her mom! The rig battle was insanity. I think having lowered expectations made it just blow me away...box office be damned this will be a classic for many many years and I am glad George got to make it.
I just saw it last weekend and holy fuuuuck, it’s honestly the most fun I’ve had watching any action movie in years. I normally just fall asleep in action movies, but this absolutely transcends. I just had a massive smile on my face the entire time, and I can’t wait to see it again.
I didn’t even realize it was doing poorly in the box office, but I guess it’s why we don’t get to have great movies like this very often. I hope we get another one of these.
I agree so much! I even got the ps4 game just so I could get a fix, WITNESS ME! This movie game my brain so much more to chew on with the lore. I JUST LOVE IT! And now because it's not bigger hit than then gods cock, there may not be another one for a bit? Get fucked! This movie turned me into a super fan.
See, i played the shit out of the game and reading about Dr. Dementis, I wanted to see the war for the wasteland and boy did we ever get to see it!
Furiosa is properly violent.
Furiosa is properly thrilling.
Furiosa is a proper story that ties into Fury Road perfectly seamless.
Just saw in Imax before it gets pulled, brought my sister. Excellent movie. Saw people complaining about the pacing, honestly despite a hefty 2 and a half hours I felt it clipped along and was very engaging. Felt mythic, the action was exceptional as usual, the world harrowing and bombastic. Both Furiosa actresses were fantastic, communicating and carrying the film with expression almost more than dialogue. Anya Taylor-Joy finds her inner Clint Eastwood. A real shame it’s not been a hit.
definitely doesn't make the world feel smaller. to me it seems far more brutal and far more depth to witness the wasteland over the course of 15 years. everything feels more fleshed out and i really liked it.
a lot of the warboys are just little kids too. it's so dark
Loved the movie and the final chase sequence was cool af. I didn't enjoy some of the editing choices though, some scenes end too abruptly and break a little immersion imo.
Indeed it is! I can’t wait til a theater plays both back-to-back or just dial them both up at home, presuming you’ve got about 4.5 hours free. It’s really cool how both movies can totally stand alone yet they perfectly segue together too.
All this from the guy who made my all-time favorite movie from childhood and also some really cute and exemplary movies about talking animals. Bravo, sir!!
I liked it more than Fury Road.
We had so many new characters and a deeper "digging" on the existing ones.
There was no lame love interest like the War Boy and the red hair plus no mad max who just grants all the time and has zero character development. These sre the two main things that take me out of Fury Road.
The worldbuilding and immersion is also far better than the previous movie.
Certain scenes and executions are brutal and gory AF, although I would like to see more revealing stuff.
I didnt find dementus so amazing, the character that jadeore hooled was Immortan Joe.
Very creative action pieces and combinations of different locations.
Perhaps the only things I would mention as "bad" is that ot felt too long at certain times, like the beginning was dragging quite a lot and the ending was... kinda quick and not so well thought throughout.
Anya taylor was a welcoming surprise and I like the Jack driver. At least he had the ability to talk in a well mannered fashion unlike Tom Hardy's animalistic dialect.
P.S. I cant get enough of that 3-bike chariot Dementus was riding 😎
Needed easily 20% More of Anya's Furiosa
Needed either less of Hemsworth or make him A LOT more psychotic and sadistic, he was just too jovial. - played out as jock idiot not a wasteland biker psycho - add some Gary Oldman (Leon the Professional) or Ramsey Bolton / Joffrey Baratheon vibe to him on top of the personality and it would be there.
Really bummed original Immortan Joe actor passed away, new actor did really well - wasn't as imposing - but he did a brilliant job
The BIG scene, could've been bigger, more of a horde vibe from the attackers maybe - a fuel line blowing was too specific and boring, light the rig on fire or something.
Octoboss death should've had more salt on it, (he was the torturer of Furiosa's mother after all) just felt like a stuntman / masked guy death. Have him jump off onto the rig before getting shredded and they have a scuffle with his mask off and she shoves him head first into the shredder thing (maybe?)
Furiosa storyline had a Conan the Barbarian vibe to it - that was super cool. big thumbs up!
When Furiosa is sniping at Dementus he should had realised it was Furiosa immediately because that's what her mother did - its like he just completely forgot about her after giving her to Immortan Joe
Also there needed to be a scene where Immortan Joe sussed out Anya Furiosa more, after she returned to the Citadel (surely a directors cut there) apparently he did try to take her as a wife in lore?
Tim Rogers cameo (fully sick)
Easily a 7.5 / 10
but really really wanted it to be a 9/10,
If others can see past these criticisms i'm sure it is a high score for them too
not to be a party pooper but I thought it was ... mediocre! I saw some headlines about how it was flopping and I was mysterfied - because surely it would be an excellent film? And then I saw it and totally understood. It's just not that good, sadly.
‼️Hard Disagree- I thought it was a jumbled mess. Weird editing- scenes were so short and some were so unnecessary. Chris Hemsworth wasn’t a good pick for that role, too silly not scary, prosthetic nose 👃 looked so fake it was distracting! Story line hard to follow. And anya was too sweet looking for the role. I thought it was so instantly forgettable. Sad because I loved fury road.
Honestly it did not make the world feel that much smaller, I can understand why people feel that way because of how many places we got to see in such little time.
Watched it for the second time past Sunday this time on 4dx. Such an amazing film and on 4dx it’s a crazy experience, almost like being on a rollercoaster.
They thought that de-aging Theron with CGI (like they de-aged De Niro for The Irishman) wouldn’t look right (for context, Anya Taylor-Joy is 28 now, Charlize Theron is 48 now), plus I figure it would be more expensive, and the budget was already $168M. I heard Theron really wanted to be cast (I think she even wanted Furiosa made before Fury Road). But I thought Anya did great, even though she’s not yet quite an Oscar-worthy actress like Theron. Anya was a total badass.
I like it more because of the world building and story. Fury road was like 3 days and you only half knew what was going on. Much cleaner story is furiosa is why I like it more. More action in fury road...but the couple action scenes in furiosa were beyond epic
This movie is amazing to prequel to Fury Road and seeing characters from that film was so awesome. Action is brilliant. The mythology symbolism and subtexts in this film is breathtaking. Overall, not as good as Fury Road but watching this and Fury Road back-to-back is a delightful treat to watch.
I thought the film was good it’s just difficult coming after Fury Road which is legit one of the greatest films ever made.
However I do believe most of the reviews are positive with good word of mouth - what’s really killing this film is that it just came out way too late completely losing relevance with the general audience. I think an actual Mad Max film will always have *some* degree of general audience pull - in contrast a Furiosa film needed to be released closer to Fury Road to stand any chance.
I really loved seeing bullet town and gas town.
I wanted to see the expanded universe since fury road. If they did a movie around this every few years I'd be in.
I hope to finally see it this weekend! Sad to see it has been a victim or circumstance and general apathy towards Hollywood (that apathy has been earned, but sucks when what I’m sue is a good flick suffers for it)
I wondered if some of the more.... Twitchy cgi from above shots were intentionally sorta quirky? But I too loved Furiosa and my 70 year old parents found it absolutely delightful
Edit: spelling
My wife and I spent the better part of 24 hours talking about how great it was after seeing it this weekend. I could not believe how good Anya was as Furiosa. For a 70lb waif irl she really embodied a powerful person. I was pleasantly surprised that at no point was I in complete disbelief of her abilities because of her size.
Hemsworth as Dementus and his own arc was equally compelling. Was good to see him be evil.
Truly great, loved it even more on rewatch. Can’t wait for the steelbook 4K to arrive and watch it again.
Pro tip - see it in Dolby cinema if you can for the biggest and best sound experience.
I agree. I’d even say it’s a better movie than fury road. Fury road has a cooler scene than anything in furiosa but as a whole furiosa never fizzles out like fury road does.
It had some good stuff in it but overall it was mid as fuck. I get liking it, but the people worshipping it in this sub must be either coping hard or completely tasteless. It is not even close to Fury Road, it even ends with random Fury Road footage so you can compare.
>The world of Mad Max is so intriguing
The world of Mad Max makes no fucking sense from start to finish. It's mindless fun with ridiculous machines and explosions and stuff, but the universe really makes no sense at all.
It’s got a 90% critic and audience score on rotten tomatoes, as well as an 80 on metacritic.
There are always going to be some people who don’t like it but overall it’s been well received by critics and audiences alike.
My point is that your original comment ‘all the people who are not fan boys say it’s not good’ is factually incorrect.
Feel free to have the last word but you are objectively wrong.
I saw it last night and enjoyed it, but they used waaaay too much CGI, which was disappointing. One of my favorite things about Miller is(was?) his use of practical effects.
I also think they focused too much on the little girl version of her. I think it would have been better if they showed her age more progressively, instead of just focusing on her as a little girl for like half of the movie. I think it would have been cool to see a 14 to 17-year-old badass version of Furiosa.
So as a mad max fan I didn't like it.
I felt the writing was bad the plot was boring the warlords parts were cool but very short lived and even then they were not written well.
This movie overall just wasn't good it was boring and didn't feel like a mad max movie.
It really isn’t. It was fine, but poor pacing and character development that didn’t lead anywhere made for a very boring ride. Out of the 12 people that were in the cinema with me, three fell asleep. I was close to being one of them, and I’m an insomniac.
"Three fell asleep!" Must have been hard, what with the music, explosions, and some guy staring at them up close to be sure they were sleeping.
My experience wasn't anything like that.
There isnt as much in this one, which is why it feels so jarring after the 4 Mad Max movies before it. None of them backtrack, tell backstories, connect in any way, having a backstory prequel lore dump for a one off character in the latest Mad Max movie is definitely a strange choice and i can see why its crapping out on sales
Finally someone speaking the truth on this thread! It was such a jumbled mess, ridiculously short scenes, weird cuts and edits, someone of the costumes looked really cheesy and fake. It was like a satire of fury road with the cheesy performance of Chris hemsworth- he was to silly to be scary… and that nose 👃!! So fake looking!!
They are not even trying to hide its all marketing bots and shills. This movie was really terrible, yet its all praise and saying they watched it 20 times every time i see this sub on my home page.
You’re posting it on a sub where this is likely popular opinion. Try a cinema sub lol.
As for me, I don’t buy Ana Taylor Joy. I refused to see it in theaters. Most people didn’t want a prequel and definitely didn’t want Charlize dropped.
If this ends up streaming on a service I have, I’ll watch it. The First Omen and Godzilla +1 just released on streaming, both films I forwent seeing in theaters predicting early streaming. Was right. Furiosa, Planet of the Apes and likely Beatlejuice will follow. Might see the new Alien film in theaters though.
I’ve heard she was passable and Hemsworth did a great job. Ballsy, betting on an actress that has never been an action lead. Hopefully it works out for her. She’s had a great couple years between Queens, Mario and Furiosa.
I don’t go to the cinema ( I go once every few years).
So when I see all the trailers for new movies are unoriginal remakes/ sequels ect it feels Hollywood isn’t trying anymore.
I found this film really boring and I had previously enjoyed fury road.
I nearly walked out after the first 20 minutes as I just wasn’t getting any reason to get interested in this movie - it was very dull and I can’t recommend seeing it.
Woulda been better off not making imo
I was that bored by the movie that I’m also that unmotivated to proper rip into this movie as a review.
Shame.
Great movie and story, but... and i write that a few times already... way too much movie time for Chris, so please in any new Max movies stay clear from hollywood actors, they just cheese out all the movies lately... Max and Interceptor cameo was perfect, and Anya eyes are marvelous....
Also I think people aren’t saying this enough but Alyla Browne did a great job of portraying an even younger Furiosa with mostly facial expression, she also gave the same energy and gravitas to the character that Anya and Charlize brought.
for real. god, we gotta spend more time loving up this movie and less time bullying incels. while satisfying, it's only for a lil
While she was only in a small part of the film she left an impression on me alongside Anya and I think she could very well become a famous actress some day
That was a pretty big small part of the film to be fair.
Young Rey from the Force Awakens is having a rather successful career with even less scene time. She starred in The Walking Dead, has a bit part in Loki, and starred in the john Krasinski film IF. So you never know.
You and the word “starred” need some familiarizing homie
She has been casted in Sonic 3
She already is
Dude, it’s the worst mad max movie that’s been made lol. I’m don’t hate women because I think the movie isn’t good haha
being 100% honest i didn’t even notice the transition between the two actors so well done
So they used cgi to blend their faces and it started at like 35% and ended at 80% apparently
that’s was fantastic cause i didn’t notice at all until she was like fully Anya Taylor and i was wtf
There was an "Alita" moment for me, but otherwise good job at that
Yeah was done very while , but a bit unbelievable that furiosa and the furiosa from fury road are the same person.
Tom Hardy also doesn't look like Mel Gibson
Are they meant to be the same person !
I just saw it today finally (loved it). Crazy thing is that she looks so much *like* Charlize in the movie than Anya does but Alyla bridges the gap between the two by slowly morphing into Anya, which helped accept her take on the character.
They did use CGI to blend Anya and Alyla’s faces to make the transition smoother
I know. It's crazy that folks thought it looked dodgy but to me, i didn't even notice it.
Yea same here! I’ve never been fooled by that effect before.
I worked on Rogue One watching them fix up Tarkin’s face every day. That tech never convinced me. Almost ten years later, I was absolutely fooled by the trick in Furiosa. How far we’ve come.
Shame, because Guy Henry did a spot-on Peter Cushing. Today with deepfake he could’ve done his performance mostly unencumbered.
Why the fuck did those morons have Tarkin turn to the audience. He should have simply continued to look in the reflection
Tarkin and Leia were both rubbish. I liked Rogue One, but it has MAJOR problems and I'm baffled by the love it gets.
Eagerly anticipating her as Maria in Sonic 3 come Dec. her performance will make or break that film
She's in another recently released movie called Sting. She's good in that
I enjoyed it very much. Didn't read anything around prior to it, but after, seeing there is so much hate and it's doing kinda bad felt a bit disheartening. For a spinoff this was pretty amazing.

mmmm lil bit of both. depending on the mood sometimes you want to decipher the semiotic nuclear codes George leaves you in the movies. other times you want to debate how exactly Dementus lost his nipples.
>"here’s some criticism" missed the part where its supposed to be constructive. thanks for proving my point.
George Miller should make a movie about those kinds of cults, and the effects they can have on the world, the people themselves, and the individual struggles..... oh... wait.
lmao GOD THEY LITERALLY NEED TO WATCH THESE MOVIES
Happy Cake Day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 🍰🍰🍰🍰🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺
I'm so glad I waited for Imax. Impatience almost got me and was going to settle for standard.
people are saying Dolby is also a great, if not better experience! if you're gonna do a rewatch, definitely check it out in Dolby. idk about your area, but our Dolby theater is airing fucking Bad Boys II soon, I think next week actually, so no more *Furiosa* in crispy crisp Dolby for me :( just want to give others a heads up to have a great experience too, before Dolby isn't available anymore!
Dolby is leaps ahead of imax. Astounding sound is a better experience. Go Dolby and nothing else with this type of movie.
I saw Venom in 4DX and swore I would never again go that route. More of a distraction and adds zero enjoyment to the movie. The only time I want liquid being shot at me is when in a shower or part of a sex act.
Heh, I'm glad you've found something to attach your identity to until the next big movie comes out.
lmao this you? >"Criticism of a piece of media is now an attack on an individual." [https://www.reddit.com/r/StarWars/comments/1d9ia27/comment/l7emawy/](https://www.reddit.com/r/StarWars/comments/1d9ia27/comment/l7emawy/) but I guess insulting people for *liking* a piece of media is still ok, huh
quinda
derp, my spanish got into there full speed
tbh it was cool!
>"it’s great to get a bit of deeper look into the lore of that world and its characters" yesss and this sub has been great for picking up even more detail I finally understand why Dementus had his nipples ripped off! now that's what I call WORLDBUILDING
I consider Thunderdome, Fury Road, and Furiosa a world-study, with individual stories added in so people go see them. The whole universe is incredible, and I want to see more of it.
right? I mean, the more I learn, the more I realize just HOW MUCH George Miller actually storyboarded, thought of. it's actually so nuts how much lore we still don't have access to
🤣
Why
Original Thread: [Why in god's name did Dementus rip off his nipples??](https://www.reddit.com/r/MadMax/comments/1d6lkfa/why_in_gods_name_did_dementus_rip_off_his_nipples/) 125 comments. I'm so proud of this sub.
Thanks. Just joined yesterday.
welcome, you are awaited in VALHALLA!
Witness!
I only have just started to forget about that scene man....
WITNESS!
Wtf? I don't remember this at all. I left for the restroom once, I'll bet it happened right then lol
mediocre. you are now known as Piss Boy.
Who do I petition for the user flair :) :)
you just change it yourself. right side bar, under 'User Flair'
perfection
I feel George Miller's touch in every shot I see
Yes. Yes, it is
Fax
Saw it for the second time last night, took my friend to see it and she absolutely loved it. Can’t wait for the Blu-ray.
Can't wait for black and chrome 4k if they make it
they will!!!! ahhh can't wait!! and this time to be sure to get a fucking Blu-ray copy while it's cheap!
She was MAGNIFICENT.
Nice. I prefer the economy of words in Fury Road, feels a bit more sparse and apocalyptic, but I can see your perspective and I'm glad I read it.
hmm depends on who's words you mean ;) The dialogue in Furiosa is stripped even further down than *Fury Road.* Anya Taylor-Joy only had 30 lines. Charlize Theron had 80. Tom Hardy had 63. [NME | Anya Taylor-Joy only has 30 lines of dialogue in ‘Furiosa’, went “months” without speaking on set](https://www.nme.com/news/film/anya-taylor-joy-only-has-30-lines-of-dialogue-in-furiosa-went-months-without-speaking-on-set-3755963) Our babygrrl more stoic than Mad Max <333 learned from the best, bb boi Jack
Sigh. Typical reddit-warrior answer to a genuine statement. That will teach me. You are talking about lines by an actor, for a character played by three actors, in a movie with more dialogue, because of how the first movie was filmed, which I don't care to write about.
lol i'm not trying to fight you or "teach" you anything I literally put a winky face in my first line I'm not arguing, I was thinking about your answer and fleshing out my own thoughts hence the "hmm" that's my thinking noise.
Absolutely it is. Dementus was a great blend of wasteland crazy. I thought Anya Taylor Joy did a fantastic job as Furiosa.
I concur.
Can’t wait for the bluray/4k
I’m finishing the rest of the movies today hopefully and trying to catch a showing tomorrow
I loved it. Fury Road was amazing too.
>This movie game my brain so much more to chew on with the lore. right?? I need George Miller to tell me EVERYTHING.
Absolutely a masterpiece
Yep
Loved the movie and the final chase sequence was cool af. I didn't enjoy some of the editing choices though, some scenes end too abruptly and break a little immersion imo.
Indeed it is! I can’t wait til a theater plays both back-to-back or just dial them both up at home, presuming you’ve got about 4.5 hours free. It’s really cool how both movies can totally stand alone yet they perfectly segue together too. All this from the guy who made my all-time favorite movie from childhood and also some really cute and exemplary movies about talking animals. Bravo, sir!!
Great flick.
It's not, the one before it was and I immediately go back and rewatch Fury Road, unquestionably 10/10 picture with Furiosa 8/10.
I agree not as good as fury road but that’s a hard movie to beat
It's definitely a good movie. But it's definitely not as good as Fury Road.
I'm stunned with some people actually claiming it better than Fury Road
Almost is if different people value different elements in movies. Who’d-a-thunk it?
Needed easily 20% More of Anya's Furiosa Needed either less of Hemsworth or make him A LOT more psychotic and sadistic, he was just too jovial. - played out as jock idiot not a wasteland biker psycho - add some Gary Oldman (Leon the Professional) or Ramsey Bolton / Joffrey Baratheon vibe to him on top of the personality and it would be there. Really bummed original Immortan Joe actor passed away, new actor did really well - wasn't as imposing - but he did a brilliant job The BIG scene, could've been bigger, more of a horde vibe from the attackers maybe - a fuel line blowing was too specific and boring, light the rig on fire or something. Octoboss death should've had more salt on it, (he was the torturer of Furiosa's mother after all) just felt like a stuntman / masked guy death. Have him jump off onto the rig before getting shredded and they have a scuffle with his mask off and she shoves him head first into the shredder thing (maybe?) Furiosa storyline had a Conan the Barbarian vibe to it - that was super cool. big thumbs up! When Furiosa is sniping at Dementus he should had realised it was Furiosa immediately because that's what her mother did - its like he just completely forgot about her after giving her to Immortan Joe Also there needed to be a scene where Immortan Joe sussed out Anya Furiosa more, after she returned to the Citadel (surely a directors cut there) apparently he did try to take her as a wife in lore? Tim Rogers cameo (fully sick) Easily a 7.5 / 10 but really really wanted it to be a 9/10, If others can see past these criticisms i'm sure it is a high score for them too
im kinda pissed they "yadda yadda'd" the war between dementus and immortan
It was ok. 7/10 for me
It’s better than fury road. Witness me
Shiny and chrome!
not to be a party pooper but I thought it was ... mediocre! I saw some headlines about how it was flopping and I was mysterfied - because surely it would be an excellent film? And then I saw it and totally understood. It's just not that good, sadly.
Dude, we know
‼️Hard Disagree- I thought it was a jumbled mess.
My favorite film in the franchise. So damn good.
I'm going to try catching it tomorrow after work.
Just saw it in Pa in warrington in 4DX. Fire at the theater. Missed the last 10 minutes.
I'm half tempted to go see it a second time. It was great.
Loved it. To tell the truth it’s my favorite of all five. Watched 3 times already.
Watched it for the second time past Sunday this time on 4dx. Such an amazing film and on 4dx it’s a crazy experience, almost like being on a rollercoaster.
I'm curious and Out Of The Loop - why didn't they cast Charlize Theron again?
Said: too much cgi de-aging. Meant: We didn't want either side of the Hardy-Theron feud back again.
Anya was a total badass.
couldn’t agree more
Yes indeed it was darker than Fury Road
Just watched it yesterday. I had a good time!
Just watched it. Fucking great movie! Can’t wait to see it again
I like it more because of the world building and story. Fury road was like 3 days and you only half knew what was going on. Much cleaner story is furiosa is why I like it more. More action in fury road...but the couple action scenes in furiosa were beyond epic
It is fucking fantastic, I'll watch it again in hopes of production gettong enough money to drop mad max 5
Too bad it came out during the wrong time.
theatre tickets are fucken ridiculous prices nowadays. would love to support the movie but those prices are abusive af
”Feel smaller”, like Australia is somehow small for these people?
This movie is amazing to prequel to Fury Road and seeing characters from that film was so awesome. Action is brilliant. The mythology symbolism and subtexts in this film is breathtaking. Overall, not as good as Fury Road but watching this and Fury Road back-to-back is a delightful treat to watch.
Can't wait to see it!
Loved it! Great movie
Little disappointing with the pacing, but I enjoyed it for the most part
I want to go see it but it's hard to set aside the time at the moment.
Yes.
I hope to finally see it this weekend! Sad to see it has been a victim or circumstance and general apathy towards Hollywood (that apathy has been earned, but sucks when what I’m sue is a good flick suffers for it)
Hell yeah
I wondered if some of the more.... Twitchy cgi from above shots were intentionally sorta quirky? But I too loved Furiosa and my 70 year old parents found it absolutely delightful Edit: spelling
WITNESS ME!!!!!
Yes it is.
Truly great, loved it even more on rewatch. Can’t wait for the steelbook 4K to arrive and watch it again. Pro tip - see it in Dolby cinema if you can for the biggest and best sound experience.
How does it look? My impression from the trailers was that it looked way less practical in terms of effects
of course it is. the world has gone crazy for not watching.
Fucking awesome for real. 5 stars. I loved how Immortan Joe was in peak condition and Victus hadn't found the weight room yet.
I agree. I’d even say it’s a better movie than fury road. Fury road has a cooler scene than anything in furiosa but as a whole furiosa never fizzles out like fury road does.
Its so much mad max theres no mad max :D
Looking forward to it being released digitally to watch it
We have a solemn duty to force our loved ones to see this
It’s fantastic
Eh. Shoulda been a long form show.
She looks like Elrond there.
I was a little let down. The CGI didn't bother me too much but I have no idea how I was so bored in a movie with that much action.
Nah. It was a bloated mess and the pacing was all over the place.
Nah, this movie is clearly just a cash grab gone horribly wrong. Bad script, drawn out, and cringey acting all around.
It had some good stuff in it but overall it was mid as fuck. I get liking it, but the people worshipping it in this sub must be either coping hard or completely tasteless. It is not even close to Fury Road, it even ends with random Fury Road footage so you can compare.
I preferred Fury Road, but I really have a hard time relating to your opinion. PS - wasn't me that downvoted you.
I assumed they ended with Fury Road footage so Theron could get paid despite not being in the movie.
That makes even less sense, why would they just hand out cash to Theron for doing nothing
Agreed. The people in this sub are insane.
>The world of Mad Max is so intriguing The world of Mad Max makes no fucking sense from start to finish. It's mindless fun with ridiculous machines and explosions and stuff, but the universe really makes no sense at all.
I had absolutely NO idea what was going on :(
All the people who are not fan boys say it's not good.
It’s got a 90% critic and audience score on rotten tomatoes, as well as an 80 on metacritic. There are always going to be some people who don’t like it but overall it’s been well received by critics and audiences alike.
I'll go with the critics that rock the boat instead.
You’ll only go with the minority of critics that confirm your opinion about a movie you’ve not seen? Sure bud. That makes a tonne of sense.
Mainstream has never been super cool.
I thought it was shit to be honest, but that's whats beautiful, everyone can have a different opinion.
So as a mad max fan I didn't like it. I felt the writing was bad the plot was boring the warlords parts were cool but very short lived and even then they were not written well. This movie overall just wasn't good it was boring and didn't feel like a mad max movie.
I hated this movie
You going to elaborate?
Nope
Boy, there sure are a lot of suspiciously blank accounts here leaving very generic positive comments.
They are not even trying to hide its all marketing bots and shills. This movie was really terrible, yet its all praise and saying they watched it 20 times every time i see this sub on my home page.
Though I don’t think she measured up to Charlize at all, the movie was amazing and everything else made up for her tenfold
I thought the film wasn't that good overall, but in it Anya TJ is actually quite good.
I’ve heard she was passable and Hemsworth did a great job. Ballsy, betting on an actress that has never been an action lead. Hopefully it works out for her. She’s had a great couple years between Queens, Mario and Furiosa.
That's funny, as I enjoyed her performance way more than Hemsworth's. I didn't find him compelling in the role at all. Each to their own I guess.
It was mediocre. Fury Road was marginally better.
Woulda been better off not making imo I was that bored by the movie that I’m also that unmotivated to proper rip into this movie as a review. Shame.
Great movie and story, but... and i write that a few times already... way too much movie time for Chris, so please in any new Max movies stay clear from hollywood actors, they just cheese out all the movies lately... Max and Interceptor cameo was perfect, and Anya eyes are marvelous....
