My total cost is over $10k but this year probably upwards of $1500. Bought sundome, all of fire force, prison school, and food wars. Few stray volumes here and there too.
Just last week I dropped $400. Over the whole year? Shiii, maybe close to like 4k? And its been a light year for me in the manga department
Edit:I got curious and added up all the manga I bought within the last year and it was about $2800 so not as bad as I thought
I started in early February and so far, I’ve spent about $181 so far although $110 of that was spent on death note which I bought brand new. I think I’ve acquired a good collection (awaiting the last few to put me over fifty)
I don't really track it, but I usually pick-up 2-3 volumes a week, so probably around $1040 in the past year, give or take some weeks where I didn't get anything and others where I got more.
That’s an interesting survey!
For manga I started just three months ago, but I’m budgeting between 50-70 euros per month.
Will slow down next month to 30-36.
Not sure which other hobbies are collecting information about, but here go some other data if it helps!
Violin (hobbist level): my first violins costed 283 (new) and 120 (second hand in wallapop). A weekly class with a qualified professional: 25/week. A private academy: 90-120/month.
Photography: an entry level camera + kit lens + bag pack costed me 650, new. Used it 10 years. Lenses: between 300-800. But nowadays you can use any camera at hand, including your phone.
A pro camera (full frame mirrorless, new), 2000. Lenses: 600 - 1100 (some could cost higher).
Hope the info helps!
Maybe a couple hundred not sure the exact price as I got some on sale or discounted for buying them together or pre order price drops. Makes me think I should spend a bit more wisely this year.
Easily 10k if not more. I've been grabbing a lot of OOP stuff and updating my collection. I've been collecting for a couple years now and have at least over 3k volumes. I've got a problem lol. At least Ive read a lot of em
I don’t keep track of the exact amount but this month I’ve gotten 140 in the mail so say each was $13 it’d be around $1,820. I mainly do sales though so…
Edit: Ok so my initial approximation was cope. It was approx $560 on just English manga (62 Vol). Including artbooks (6) and JP manga (70), and adding a couple things my brother bought me, the overall total is around $1200.
For 2024, so far I’m at $140 for 16 volumes.
I’ve finished collected the series I wanted most last year. This year is adding newly licensed series, continuing some ongoing series, and maybe doing another proxy order for more JP manga.
During covid, I used to spend all my paychecks on manga (I was 20 at the time and I still live with my parents, so I did not have many financial responsibilities at the time and could get away doing this, especially since I held a manager position at my job of the time and got paid a pretty chunk of money). I might have spent thousands of dollars during 2020-2021, but I've since taken a big step back since then with the spending. I probably spend no more than $1,000 on manga per year now. My financial responsibilities have made budgets extremely tight in the last 2ish years, and I've since calmed down with the spending. Now most of my money goes to my student debt. 🥲
When I was much younger and before I got a job, I relied on birthday money to get manga, so I would spend no more than $50 10 years ago. I would buy Amazon gift cards, and I was able to stretch my money by buying used manga for 1 cent back then with $3 shipping. Those times were nice. I could buy a full set of Mermaid Melody for $25 back then.
Was my first year collecting. Here’s where I’m at.

> probably only *paid* $300 within
FTFY.
Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:
* Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.*
* *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.*
Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment.
*Beep, boop, I'm a bot*
A couple thousand lol

“Too much” is the only answer
To control myself I buy volumes individually Hasn't help much Because those deals.
Probably around $600-1000. Although I don't keep exact tabs. Plus, it's my main hobby at the moment.
Probs $300 but I get an employee discount/it’s mostly used so lower than retail price (you gotta shop for them deals)

MSRP is in the 25k USD range, but I never add up what I actually spent. It would take too much time to count that up.

Around $250-450 aud per month which isn't great
Last year I probably spent between 3-5k on manga. I’m trying to save money rn so I limit myself to 200 a month. This year will be less.
$50

Probably around 2500+ PLN, or $630
About $500-$600
I’ve just started collecting manga in the past month a half. I’ve already spend about $1000…. Eep
My hobbies are Manga, Vinyl, Gaming, Cooking, and Gunpla. I just shouldn’t be allowed to have fun money, period.
On manga? about 100 bucks Canadian. got most of them on sale and they were one volume stuff.
I probably spent between 500 to 1000 dollars quite sure.
2023: 1640€
I spend about 100€ per month, so I've probably spent like 1k this past year, give or take
