Yeah, I have a hard time even buying manga out of order. But I kind of had to when I was purchasing the One Piece omnibuses, a bunch of random volumes were out of stock for more than a year and I had to buy them whenever they went back into stock.

VinceG610

I hate when some volumes are unavailable. Rn I am buying the new One Piece volumes as they release. Currently waiting for volume 106

Fit-Bit2907

I just don’t put them with my collection when I do that, I have a shelf that’s hidden behind boxes that I like to call “Fn damn it shelf” it’s where OOP stuff or stuff that I’m piecing together slowly go so that I don’t see them at all. It works very well.

VinceG610

That's a good idea. I myself have them in their own section, where I have volumes separated by the amount of mangas of a series, such as first having 6 Ranma mangas, 4 Monster Musume, etc, until at the very last I have the singles.

Then_Replacement_123

I don’t feel weird about mine since I got them for a good deal usually so it was worth it so I’m content with it and when I get to the volume I already the one I need to read so it’s a win win besides waiting and getting the other volumes in between

VinceG610

Honestly, the reason for me to have random volumes is I get them at a good price. At flea markets I get them at $5, then sometimes less. Best one I got was volume 1 of Boruto, for $1. Not a fan of Boruto, but hey, a brand new manga for $1 is amazing.

SlimShady116

Wierd af. I don't buy manga unless I'm going to read it (books aren't just decoration to me), so it's useless for me to get series out of order. The only time I get them out of order is if I forget what volumes I have, which hasn't happened since I started tracking everything.

VinceG610

I myself honestly buy them if they seem interesting. That's why before buying a manga I check the back to see what it is about, if it sounds interesting, I buy it.

Tiny_Writer5661

Yes!! It messes with my brain😂 I usually like to have it uniform 1-5 etc. it’s my main gripe other than it being expensive when I collect OOP manga, it’ll always be out of order cause some volumes are too expensive or just not available.

VinceG610

True. I myself try to get all up until the volume I have, but if I cannot get them, ill read the ones I don't have online, then read the one or ones I have.

SxinnyLoxe

I have a seperate shelf for all my "randoms" until I can fill in the gaps of a set. I would prefer to buy them in order but of course that's not always possible whether it's due to hard to find volumes or me wanting to take advantage of sales... hell, I go to thrift/pawn shops and buy their random volumes of manga and then will try to fill in the missing volumes of those too.

VinceG610

I try to do so, but if I cannot fill in the gaps, oh well.

BroadwayButterfly310

I always say im gonna collect in order, but i can't help buying whatever the newest volume is, regardless of if I have all the ones before it 😅 Especially since I read mostly from the library or online (very rarely do I buy from a series I havent already started) so my priority is getting my hands on the ones I haven't read yet. Just in February I mass ordered Seraph of the End vols 1-3, 11, 19-23, and 27-28. Why the big gaps between volumes? I only bought the volumes my library doesn't have. Those don't feel like a need to me since I still have access to them elsewhere 🤷🏾‍♀️

VinceG610

Oh, that's cool, you also save some money, cause some mangas are pricey.

Boxman__37

I buy most of my series in full all at once bc I know it would bother me

VinceG610

I wish I could do that, but I am poor. If I had the money, I'd have all of the One Piece volumes.

Jest_Ace

That’s how I used to solely collect manga. I only had some money on my birthday and Christmas to get some volumes, so I would always get the volumes with my favorite characters or favorite moments in the series instead of in order. To this day, even with all the manga I have, I’m still missing Naruto volumes 1-39, 46, 47, 50, & 68 for absolutely no reason. And I’ve been collecting for the past 10 years 🤣 I’ve finally decided to finish it tho. No way I’m going to finish collecting One Piece before Naruto. But same with all the other series I started collecting before I started getting an income. I’ve only recently realized I’m able to fill the gaps. It was like I never even though about it.

Oilswell

When I was missing one volume of One Piece it absolutely tortured me

spinereader81

I don't love it, but there are some OOP series with certain volumes that I'm unlikely to ever find at a reasonable price, despite consistantly searching. So I just have to put up with it.

iunpause

nah, I shop used book stores and will pick up random volumes of series if they are cheap, its save me a bunch over the years but I also don't care if I have a mix of omnibuses and singles as long as I have it all.
