If we really aren’t getting a second film, I’d be totally down if they use an animated show to wrap up the Eternals’ storyline. Most of the remaining cast has voice work experience, and their powers/designs would be perfect for an animated medium.

mannyrios_97

Doubt they’d be able to get most of the cast back to do voice work but I’d totally be down for an eternals animated show too

Spiderbyte

Would they? What If got a ton of the cast back. Aside from Ridloff it shouldn't be impossible

LVArcher

It feels similar to what happened when they tried to turn the last Divergent movie into a TV film. Most of the actors don't want to be associated with a product that's been "downgraded".

Ohiostatehack

Actors tends to be more favorable to animated projects as they tend to be a pretty fast payday. Takes way less time to do a voice recording session that filming scenes for a movie.

Spiderbyte

That's not even slightly the same though

Sad_Lawfulness_7049

This is literally the best of both worlds We get to see their stories continued and it doesn't use too much of marvels money in producing

TheHypnosloth

Makkari lmao

Spiderbyte

MTTSH did say it was still happening, just as something else...

Pomojema_The_Dreamer

I think that she was implying that it was being repurposed into a fourth _Guardians of the Galaxy_ movie.

kinofil

Wish it could be the next *Thor* movie, where in they fight for the fate of Celestials while dealing with Olympians and other gods.

Bobjoejj

Nah, Thor’s got enough on his plate with the Hercules, the God Pantheons, New Asgard, and biting a surrogate dad. Let the Eternals stay in the cosmic side of things, cause honestly there’re already dim that mold pretty good.

kinofil

Yes, let's push them to get a proper sequel instead. *Eternals* could be really a pretty standalone property to explore while mataining that quality, with little connective tissue with the ongoing story arcs.

Bobjoejj

Yeah overall I’d love it if we could just get a proper sequel, but unless something changes I doubt we’re gonna be seeing anything like that.

nathew42

What did the surrogate dad do to deserve being bitten by Thor?

JANTlvr

Why do you think GOTG specifically?

Pomojema_The_Dreamer

I think Alex suggested it, I'm not sure though.

NickHeathJarrod

Why not just make it a Starjammers movie?

Pomojema_The_Dreamer

Most likely because they want to hold off on that until they get closer to doing _X-Men_ content out the wazoo.

Spiderbyte

I mean that's just speculation based off a thing she said. This is an actual casting call

TheCommish-17

I don’t think this is Eternals 2 because it’s highly unlikely the sequel would take place on Earth. The only Eternal on Earth is Sprite and I doubt she will be much of a factor going forward, given she lost her powers. I think a follow up to Eternals would take place in space, likely at the World Forge, with Thena’s group trying to save Sersei’s from Arishem. And that doesn’t sound like this description at all.

I-who-you-are

The synopsis is DEFINITELY something I would write for E1, so maybe they just did that to hide that it was an Eternals sequel

TheJack0fDiamonds

It has NEVER been confirmed at all she lost her powers in lieu of turning human. Only ever assumed. For all we know she is just human with cosmic energy based realistic illusions. The only reason they had her turn human at the end was so they could make sense of Lia McHugh growing up considering the ageless nature of the Eternals.

bwyell

Maybe it’s non-chronological. Could very easily have flashbacks to periods throughout history like the movie did.

Spiderbyte

Why wouldn't it? He specifically says he's going to come back to judge the planet. They can just do Judgement Day

LatterTarget7

It could take place on a earth. Doesn’t have to be the main earth

Lead_Dessert

I am under the opinion that now that if Iger is insisting on downsizing the MCU. Animation is absolutely the way to go to wrap up storylines they normally couldn’t do. One of Star Wars’s biggest strengths was that The Clone Wars/Rebels/The Bad Batch bridged the gap between movies and wrapped up old plot-lines and it was still considered canon to the overall timeline. If Eternals were to continue in animation, I’m 100% for it.

[deleted]

Hear me out, what if it’s Inhumans?

kidlambo

That’d be a great way to go ahead and introduce them if they wanted to.

DawgBloo

My dumbass almost excitingly typed they should bring back Anson Mount then I realized why that won’t happen ![gif](giphy|xT9Igqz02TEWXq0wMw|downsized)

therealyittyb

Hold on, you might be onto something…

AAAFMB

I’ve always wanted a prequel animated series, but I’m desperate for any Eternals content so if they use animation for a sequel then I’ll take it

netflixissodry

Eternals would have been infinitely better as a 6-8 episode animated show instead of a movie. Story and characters would have been fleshed out better.

TheJack0fDiamonds

Animated series makes more sense than expecting it to be a live action one, considering their broken and flawed TV show format.

Bobjoejj

Nah, I still contend that even with its couple of issues; it’s one of the best things we’ve gotten from the MCU. I mean damn, it’d be hard to admit it’s not one of the most unique as well.

schreibeheimer

Given that animated series are generally half-hour, including intro and credits, a 6-8 episode series wouldn't be that much longer than the movie.

NotTroy

Isn't that basically the plot line of Jonathan Hickman's new G.O.D.S. series?

Spiderbyte

Ehhh kinda. But this synopsis came out maybe two months after the first issue came out, which seems very unlikely that they began adapting a comic that would have then been weeks old

NotTroy

The comic book didn't spring to life on the day it came out. The big wigs at Marvel have known what the plot of this new series was going to be for a long while before it's first issue released. I'm not saying that the synopsis given is for a G.O.D.S. show, but the timing between the start of the book series and the synopsis release is not a barrier to it being so.

joppehi

Hickman also said in an interview it was originally created as a marvel studios project

[deleted]

Eternals would have worked better either as a 2 part film or a tv series, so I hope this is legitimate. I’d love it to be episodic in format, showing the Eternals all throughout different times and civilizations.

Lotus_630

Wait…what if it’s an adaptation of that story of Arishem judging the heroes of earth?

Zipperdude1

Secret invasion part 2 electric Boogaloo

DawgBloo

I would love an animated Secret Invasion show that utilizes the entire MCU’s cast of characters instead of the scraps that we ended up getting

Spiderbyte

This sounds nothing like secret Invasion

Zipperdude1

cosmic beings living in secret on earth

Spiderbyte

Skrulls are not "cosmic beings" trying to "protect the earth"

Zipperdude1

my god dude it's a joke let it go

Little-xim

I Wouldn’t be opposed to that? It’s an incredibly high budget concept for an actual film sequel / tv series, and overall is mostly disconnected to the actual mcu. Maybe having their cosmic misadventures in animation might actually be a better fit. No budgetary restrictions, a real effort to bring Jack Kirby’s artwork to life, and overall being able to be far more free form with the storytelling.  Go for it!

RedGyarados2010

I thought DanielRPK actually said that this referred to Eyes of Wakanda (although maybe that was something else)

matthewbassit

No, this was NOT about 'Eyes of Wakanda'. It's [this one](https://www.reddit.com/r/MarvelStudiosSpoilers/comments/vtxqoz/casting_call_for_new_chineseled_animated_series/)!

RedGyarados2010

Ah okay, thanks

Jellyfish-Ninja

That doesn’t sound like a Wakanda show.

matthewbassit

Well, maybe it wasn't at that time when Todd Harris pitched it to the studio, but it certainly is now — and they share very similar [synopsis](https://www.marvel.com/articles/tv-shows/marvel-studios-animation-what-if-season-2).

Jellyfish-Ninja

A Chinese-led series about stolen artifacts?

Kevbot1000

Honestly, Eternals would lend themselves really well to anime.

zhsdnl

Clan Destyne?

Curious_Ad_8982

I don't like continuing in a different medium something that started in another. I think it's a terrible idea

Spiderbyte

It's not unprecedented.

SnooPets1151

If it happens, I hope it doesn't continue the movies story and just start from scratch and does its own thing.

Hemans123

Sounds like an Eternals animated show, tbh.

Spiderbyte

My thoughts exactly

JM2000YBC

They should be incorporated into Thor 5.

ClintBarton616

Fuck it, X-ternals cartoon

JahnConnah

If any show required a TV series first it was Eternals Maybe then we would've given a damn that someone betrayed the others and some were already dead if we spent 6-8 weeks getting to know them prior

NinetyYears

An animated sequel would be lame. Keep that for the whatif stuff

professor_cheX

ugh not everything needs an anime version

Spiderbyte

I mean Zhao talked about how her love of anime influenced the first Eternals

HeWhoRamensII

I'd be down for an animated Eternals as long as it's adapted from the source material and not connected to the MCU because the MCU Eternals is absolute dogshit. Robots are you fucking kidding me!? Why!? Just why!? How does that even remotely sound like a good idea?

cursdwitknowledge

Jfc pls no. Marvel just stop. Pls. Stop. Just do mutants in movies. Bring back iron man doesn’t even need to be rdj. Just cast someone charismatic and snarky. Doesn’t have to happen tomorrow next month or next year. Just stop with the side shit.
