Oof Nat. That felt personal. :( JC's feedback was spot on for a crossroads moment like that though. I think most of us have had a time where we felt like we could do anything at all but forgot to stay true to ourselves in the process. She'll be right.
JC has given negative feedback many times before and I have to say he definitely handles it the best. He’s not sugarcoating his feedback like the other 3 either but he can obviously relate due to how much he’s gone through himself, and reminds them to step back a little and be true to themselves.
Idk, he’s just my favourite judge this season and he really overtook my longtime Gary biased.
Oh I agree 100%. JC's experience clearly shows in the way he handles negative feedback, it's never negative for negative's sake and points clearly at faults without mollycoddling. He's quite an outlier for cutthroat reality TV but I'm so glad he's there!
Sav just posted on her Instagram that she spent NINE MONTHS studying lamprais in Sri Lanka learning off Dutch Burgher aunties and even studying archival and historic recipes. People who keep saying 'she's just cooking Sri Lankan again' would NEVER say that about someone who spent nine months perfecting and researching a particular French or Italian dish for example. She calls the dish her 'life's work'. Now that is mastery.
So so so glad she won tonight!
Look I’ll be honest I’m one of those who said damn does she know any other flavour profiles?? But this cook sealed the deal for me. She /knows/ the Sri Lankan flavour profile and she amplifies it so well. This cook was a true reflection that it’s not just smth she ate a lot but smth she rlly focussed on and is able to deliver so beautifully in all ways possible.
If she wants to go down the Sri Lankan flavours path and do bangin fuckin dishes every single time she has my full support and more from now on forward. I’d trust a fantastic single cuisine restaurant before I even look at a restaurant that does 5 cuisines to be honest. GO SAV!!!!
the actual difference is, give any of today's dishes to Sav (with or without a recipe) and she'll do it. Give Lamprais, with a recipe to others and can gurantee won't even come close! Sri Lankan flavours are so hard to build and understand. Lot of people go oh, it's curry and spices everywhere, or like comments like indian food.
Anyone who's actually tried good Sri Lankan food gets how soulful and complex it is!
Absolutely -- any really good curry is extremely complex! So much of the critique of Sav in here has been very unfair, and a lot of it hasn't really been about what she had put on the plate, frankly. Glad to see her in the semis!
It's not about it being Sri Lankan. It's about what is by her own admission a traditional dish cooked in a traditional way. I probably wouldn't be praising anyone for perfecting Coq au Vin or Vitello Tonnato for a finals week dish.
But still, others have shown range in their dishes whereas Sav can only do Sri Lankan dishes well, the others are a hit or miss. I think Harry should have won this round instead of Sav or Pezza
My heart goes out to Harry. He was smiling, spirits were all high with judges’ feedback until Sofia’s… oh well. wishing everyone luck tomorrow for elimination.
And this, I think makes redditors angry at Pezza(which actually should be targeted towards the judges).
There is no way Pezza’s fancy(he used tweezers and micro herb) meat and three veg is better than Harry’s lobster
"The *nous* you showed to use the end pieces has saved the dish"
Literally every home cook in the world knows that if something's a bit underdone, the bits on the edge will be cooked the most. How on Earth is Andy treating that like something worth complimenting a Top 4 contestant on 😖
It's the most negative feedback she's received, and I think they did it to wake her up. She should have listened to the judges and focused on one dish. They don't want to see her booted.
This! Like you can tell all the judges are so invested in these contestants and I think they just wanted to home in to Nat like hey when we give you advise at least think about it for a second since we've been here and/or are professional chefs etc. I think it was tough love so she wouldn't make the same mistake again at a more crucial state of the competition
How is it disrespectful? She absolutely should not have tried to do two dishes. The judges said that both her dishes would suffer and they were absolutely right.
She's objectively the strongest cook in the competition (won the most immunities) and for Andy to say to her face that he now questions her ability entirely?! Over one cook in Finals Week? It's baseless, rude and demoralising.
They absolutely pummeled the poo out of her and then they dial it back and ask if she's ok? They didn't have to be so nasty. They had decided before she brought the dish up and held it against her that she only served one. Yeah, she had a bad cook, but they continued to hammer her trying to get her to break. This was as ugly as MC America, and I'm really disgusted with the judges today.
As far as Sav's cook.... good for her, but the thumbnail on the video showed her hands so it was already obvious she'd win. Her dish looked great. I'm just a little tired of her same story about her mum and such. Sophia just was overly sickening, and then Poh ... oh please with the drama.
Really? I watched Andy’s season recently. He had some close calls with eliminations. It was an elimination that changed everything for him — when he and another dude had to run a pub together and did so well neither went home. It’s the episode when you see the lights turn on for Andy and you know he realizes he wants to do this every day for the rest of his life.
I didn’t see any skating that season, especially with competition as talented as Mindy and Amina. You’re insulting the rest of that season’s talent when you say he skated through.
That’s very harsh feedback from Andy, it’s comments like this that make me think the judging is a bit unfair and others get off easy… what a cruel comment 😭😭
FUCK YES SAV. She’s literally cooking one of the hardest things to make in Sri Lankan cooking. It’s so complex with so many elements but it looks so unassuming. My mum made it a couple of times and it took her like 2 days. I’m so nervous she’s doing this in 90 mins
i tried it for the first time a few months ago, there's this amazing cook in sydney that makes them and delivers, i think with a minimum order of 10 sets with a choice of base meat of chicken, lamb or beef. Had it a friends place, and if I recall correctly, the guy needed about 3 or 4 days notice. For Sav to pull that off so quickly, with all those elements, is phenomenal. I might have a picture of the menu and number somewhere.
I really reckon Harry’s gonna win this thing. He’s a bit disorganised but he’s so consistent and never fails to get the combined thumbs up for his dishes
Damn that talk the judges gave to Nat?? It’s different circumstances and it wasn’t even at top 10 when Justin got it, but it suddenly reminded me of the talking to Justin got and he won. Maybe I’m just delusional lol as I’m worried for her tomorrow. Harry’s good at seafood, pezza’s great at pressure tests so worried it could be her :(
It’s an anything cook to semifinal. Of course everybody is going to cook what they’re best at.
Pezza with meat and veg.
Harry with seafood.
Sav with Sri Lankan.
Nat with Thai.
Anyone thinking that Nat has been up on the gantry a lot more than the other contestants and therefore hasn’t been exposed to many high pressure situation?
Actually, I take my earlier comment about Andy's outfit tonight back.....
It's more in line with when you have to judge MasterChef at 7:30 but have a Vaudeville debut at 9:30
Pezza back to pub food.. did not winning immunity a few episodes ago completely undo his growth? He was on an interesting trajectory and now it’s.. this again lol
Has Pezza had a makeover whilst he was on the show?
I recall at the start he seemed a tad pudgy, but he seems to have gotten into shape and gotten a new hairstyle to match.
I just saw the episode and really dont think Sav deserved to go to Semi with that dish. That the most common dish in Sri Lanka and Kerala where I come from. Am guessing either she got in because the others failed to produce a better one of the lady judges bave this sentiment towards Sav. I l've always seen the ladies tear up, for what reason I dont know, when Sav produces a dish
I think some of the judges were waiting for this day to unload on Nat. She's rarely flustered in a challenge and has shown no interest in Andy or Sofia's feedback throughout the season. She doesn't play the Nonna card or get emotional. This was their opportunity to take her down a peg for the sake of TV.
Another round of Mystery Box, but this time it's a Golden one! Which contestant will obtain the Golden Ticket straight to the semi-finals? Which contestant will get the Tarnished Ticket straight to elimination tomorrow!
Sidenote but I looked at the tv schedule and no episode on Wednesday it seems like… in better news on Sunday >! There will be the masterclass on Sunday where the judges cook again and also against the constestants for fun!<
I'm probably not recovered from my Mimi disappointment yet, but I find this top group of 4 so uninspiring and lacklustre :/
It's all about Nat for me now
Bugger off Andy, just because you have tunnel vision lay off the contestant’s choices. They know the consequences if their cook isn’t the top dish.
He gets on my nerves more & more each episode. I hope he gets the boot.
Kaeng hang lei is a beautiful curry, could be amazing enough on its own. I am a bit worried for Nat though, two dishes doesn't ever really seem to work out?
Tbh Andy since his start as a judge has always been the person to make a comment or 2 to psych out the contestants (or help them out ig). I’d start getting worried if another judge would be making those comments lol

Genuinely I don’t know how the contestants don’t tell the judges to fuck off when they’re trying to concentrate and the judges are peering over them constantly
Pez getting lots of flak but Is there a difference between pezza always cooking meat and vegetables to harry always doing seafood, sav always doing Sri Lankan (curries) and nat always cooking Thai? Serious question.
If I live to be 100 I will never understand how people find uni tasty ngl
I know the judges like it so Harry's going to be fine but to me it tastes like what I'd imagine one of the three-eyed fish from the Simpsons would taste like
I know everyone complains Pezza food is boring food but he has more deep fried components than everybody else therefore I want to eat his meal the most
I can still be convinced to change my mind if one of the others decides to deep fry their curry
So yesterday Mimi somehow sets her oven so hot proofing her bread it browned, now Nat the queen of timers sets her pressure cooker to finish 5 minutes after the cook finishes. What the hell is going on in this kitchen?
FYI: The No Rules cook has occured on every season’s Finals Week since the OGs, it is tradition.
"I can taste the potential in this" Poh has a great way of delivering crushing feedback in a way that sounds nice
AAAAHAHA JC HAVING A BOOGIE JUST WON BEST MOMENT OF THE SEASON
Here is the [GIF of JC's dance](https://www.reddit.com/r/MasterchefAU/comments/1dyc08k/ooh_im_excited_gif_of_jeanchristophe_novelli/).
Sav has no time for Andy’s doubts about her meatball capabilities
I thought the golden ticket was a kilo slab of butter at first lol
Oof Nat. That felt personal. :( JC's feedback was spot on for a crossroads moment like that though. I think most of us have had a time where we felt like we could do anything at all but forgot to stay true to ourselves in the process. She'll be right.

JC is so encouraging today, actually when has he not been encouraging🤔

I feel like pezza is just serving up pub food and the judges act like its a michelin star level dish
Legit his shit looks like something I'd get on a sunday afternoon at a good pub Like that's not bad but it's not this level
"The *nous* you showed to use the end pieces has saved the dish" Literally every home cook in the world knows that if something's a bit underdone, the bits on the edge will be cooked the most. How on Earth is Andy treating that like something worth complimenting a Top 4 contestant on 😖
This is Nat’s ONLY bad cook and they absolutely ripped her to shreds. How rough
It’s so disrespectful and unnecessary. Praying Nat effortlessly flies through that pressure test tomorrow.

Rough call to question Am I right about Nat? straight to her face
Especially since this was her first genuinely bad dish in the whole comp. Like as if Andy didn’t skate through his season
Andy did the furthest thing from skating through his season lol, how does this have so many upvotes?
Pea forward 😭
Andy that’s too harsh and out of place
That’s very harsh feedback from Andy, it’s comments like this that make me think the judging is a bit unfair and others get off easy… what a cruel comment 😭😭
i’m so sick of mystery boxes that aren’t actually mystery boxes
Wow, Andy... one bad cook for Nat and you wonder if you're wrong about her being a good cook? No wonder people don't like you.
FUCK YES SAV. She’s literally cooking one of the hardest things to make in Sri Lankan cooking. It’s so complex with so many elements but it looks so unassuming. My mum made it a couple of times and it took her like 2 days. I’m so nervous she’s doing this in 90 mins

Andy crossed the line a little there IMO. That was harsh
“I can knockout a meatball Andy it’s fine” HAHAHAHSH YES 👏🏽
Tantalise their tastebuds…. Low key convinced Pezza has his own bingo card he’s trying to knock out today
Pezza's lamb rack went pewwwww across the table 😂
One bad cook Fuck off Andy
Damn Andy wtf. So harsh.
I really reckon Harry’s gonna win this thing. He’s a bit disorganised but he’s so consistent and never fails to get the combined thumbs up for his dishes
Harry's dish looks bloody nice.
i’m excited but nervous. after last night, anything could happen
Lumprais is SO yum!! Can’t wait to see Sav’s version
Curtis Stones pork looked pinker than the lamb lol
That's a banging creation from Harry. That's what MasterChef is all about.
“Just a little bit under” is masterchef speak for raw and inedible
Andy you don't have to be such a dick. We get it you didn't like the girl to do two dishes no need to belittle people on national tv.
Interesting commentary from Sophia - too spicy?
Hopefully this is the mistake before the amazing run towards winning and lifting the trophy.
Nat bros we got too cocky 😔
Technically today is the last immunity? Whoever wins won’t be in tomorrow’s pressure test
Cook anything you want is not a mystery box.
jesus that croquette looked good
ok wow they’re being weirdly mean after a bad day in the kitchen?
No Mimi!!!! 😭 😭 😭
Anyone thinking that Nat has been up on the gantry a lot more than the other contestants and therefore hasn’t been exposed to many high pressure situation?
This "cook what you want" semi final has already got me bored. The contestants seem to be back into their comfortable grooves.
Suprise Meat and 3 veg
Has Pezza had a makeover whilst he was on the show? I recall at the start he seemed a tad pudgy, but he seems to have gotten into shape and gotten a new hairstyle to match.

Another round of Mystery Box, but this time it's a Golden one! Which contestant will obtain the Golden Ticket straight to the semi-finals? Which contestant will get the Tarnished Ticket straight to elimination tomorrow!
I read it in the MasterChef guy's voice.
Wonder what’s the theme in the mystery box today? Plus the “spoiler” of the judges saying “it’s the best food ever!!!!” Wonder who got that.
who knew Steve Price is divorced and wears thongs
Id rather go to the dentist then watch Steve price on the project
Sidenote but I looked at the tv schedule and no episode on Wednesday it seems like… in better news on Sunday >! There will be the masterclass on Sunday where the judges cook again and also against the constestants for fun!<
why are we watching a woman ski in a bikini while holding dogs in our scheduled MasterChef time
Got home just in time to catch this episode! Whew!
Looking back at the last ep, I wish someone had used the monkfruit.
Had an absolute nightmare of a day hopefully we have some fun
I found ~~Wally~~ Andy!
Another interesting outfit choice from Andy
I'm probably a bit out of it but how many episodes are left and when will the finale air?
Andy's playing his role of mime well so far
Guys, I found Wally! Wait no, it’s just Andy.
Semi final!
Take it and run!!!!
I'm probably not recovered from my Mimi disappointment yet, but I find this top group of 4 so uninspiring and lacklustre :/ It's all about Nat for me now
Nobody's ever won MasterChef after coming back in the redemption cook right? Poh would be the closest at second place so Sav could tie or beat that
“A golden ticket! It reminds me of Willy Wonka” …thanks, Captain Obvious? Respect your audience’s intelligence *a little*, MasterChef Producers
Pezza is getting the golden ticket I am sure of it
Why do they use mystery boxes sooo much?
So it's not actually a mystery box but rather cook what you want
There are times where I just question a tradesmen’s actual sanity today is one of those days, haven’t been this pissed in a while
I hope it’s your one way ticket to elimination Pez
Oh its the usual no rules cook you want in Finals Week, but this time the contestants didnt decide the time hmm..
Why does Andy stand with his legs so far apart?
aka… immunity cook.
Lamb cutlets in the semis yeah right
Wait, what was the actual challenge? I spaced out. Was it an actual mystery box challenge or free rein again?
Lamb cutlet is not semi final worthy
Pezza being super original right out of the gate with meat and two veg!
He likes to do a veg two ways, also.
Don't forget the jus!
Pezza with all the buzzwords again today
Meat and 2 veg from pezza?
"it's like the grand final" Not quite, Pezza...
Not the same without Mimi, Nat better win
Why does pezza dish looked like that “awesome” dish in the trailer?
Did I just spy packet stock?
I missed the challenge details, what are the parameters?
"and this is a beautiful face" So is yours JC
That’s one heck of a crayfish.
Yup everyone has to work their strengths.. so Pezza with meat and Harry with seafood
Thinking about what wacky combo Mimi would’ve come up with for this dish
[удалено]
Why does Nat seem so stressed
Ooh lamprais is ambitious, so many components!
Nat looks stressed
Nat is insane. Go for it!
Andy is having a brain snap trying to get his head around Nat’s idea
I don’t know how to spell fuk-tong but I used to eat it in Thailand and I bloody loved it!
Andy leave her alone
Look at Poh so excited when Nat’s doing 2 dishes in 90mins haha
Ice cream in a pumpkin is very kitsch
Oh shut up Andy.
Okay Poh did 2 dishes in her time as well.
We’re starting early with the Fake ads tonight I see
In solidarity to the Mimi nation I made my family (mum and brother) Mimi’s scissor cut noodles recipe and it was UNREAL! So so so so good
Andy just shut up already
If Nats savoury and dessert pair together she's on a winner. If they don't compliment each other she's in trouble
Mystery boxes should be hard not this free reign cook what you want bullshit WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO PRODUCTION THIS YEAR
Will we get to see all the contestants together again?
[удалено]
It feels like there is no way that Pezza can win this episode unless he does a Stephen Bradbury.
Wether Nats dishes work out or not I appreciate her trying to both push the boat out AND stay true to herself
Come on, Andy. Don’t do that to Nat… smh
Bugger off Andy, just because you have tunnel vision lay off the contestant’s choices. They know the consequences if their cook isn’t the top dish. He gets on my nerves more & more each episode. I hope he gets the boot.
When's the grand final? We have pressure test Tuesday, nothing on Wednesday, then semi final on Sunday. Is grand final going to be Monday? Tuesday?
Has Nat been in a pressure test yet?
Kaeng hang lei is a beautiful curry, could be amazing enough on its own. I am a bit worried for Nat though, two dishes doesn't ever really seem to work out?
Nat has absorbed Mimi’s overachieving soul
There are 2 ways to advice a contestant on making 2 dishes: Poh’s way of caution Or Andy’s don’t be stupid comment.
So there are three curries being made? Or did I mishear?
Tonight is packet stock night. 3 of 4.
I think Nat has a game plan in mind and isn’t minded by what Andy says. Some of you act like Andy’s telling her to never cook again or something.
Tbh Andy since his start as a judge has always been the person to make a comment or 2 to psych out the contestants (or help them out ig). I’d start getting worried if another judge would be making those comments lol
Love how nice and supportive JC is “You’re doing well. Keep going!” 💕
while pezza’s sort of meals aren’t super up my alley, he sure knows how to prep and cook meat.
Fuck I'm still so cut that Mimi got eliminated
Shoulda cooked better
Poh and Sofia are pretty supportive of Nat’s. Poh can relate to doing multiple dishes, and Sofia has been quite open/encourage when it comes to risk taking.!
What's everyone making in this scenario?
When does the Olympics end / Hunted start anyway
Ngl pezza dish sounds Michelin fancy
Poh's face says it all - there is no way that croquette is holding,
Genuinely I don’t know how the contestants don’t tell the judges to fuck off when they’re trying to concentrate and the judges are peering over them constantly
Ads teased the dish judges raved about and been trying to see if I can guess who it is lol
That croquette needed a content warning
that croquette is on the edge, hope it comes out well
Sweet dreams are made of these
Why do the judges help Pezza so much!
Now when I start worrying, I just tell myself… everything’s fine
What's Haz making?
I think it’s going to be fine. Famous last words
The shape on the preview resembles Pezza’s
That would give a horn to a jellyfish….?
Pez getting lots of flak but Is there a difference between pezza always cooking meat and vegetables to harry always doing seafood, sav always doing Sri Lankan (curries) and nat always cooking Thai? Serious question.
Nat’s math isn’t mathing
oh no nat 😭
How has Nat managed that?! Queen of the timers!
I think Harry's got this in the bag
Nat calculator stopped working
Olive oil?
I recognise that sea urchin packaging. That is the more pungent brand...
Oh I love Uni — Harry’s dish sounds great
Gee, who could have predicted that making two dishes instead of one would go wrong?
Rooting for Nat!!! But I would love to try Harry’s dish. Uni emulsion? Say no more!!
Imagine if Harry is not doing tomorrow’s pressure test. The pressure test that he’ll definitely ace.
Harry has such sparkly eyes 🤩
If I live to be 100 I will never understand how people find uni tasty ngl I know the judges like it so Harry's going to be fine but to me it tastes like what I'd imagine one of the three-eyed fish from the Simpsons would taste like
god the Tenplay app sucks
Nat got the curse of Mimi’s pivoting =(
Sav is reminding every southeast Asian person’s grandmother right now, just chucking ingredients into a frying pan entirely on instinct 😂
Man, I’m getting smashed with Fake today
I love Sofia’s support, she lets the contestants have their space.
Pezza aka Mr. Magoo
Has anyone actually tried the new Coffee Club blend
Aw looks like today is not Nat’s day to win. Good on her for at least trying to take a risk.
I know everyone complains Pezza food is boring food but he has more deep fried components than everybody else therefore I want to eat his meal the most I can still be convinced to change my mind if one of the others decides to deep fry their curry
So yesterday Mimi somehow sets her oven so hot proofing her bread it browned, now Nat the queen of timers sets her pressure cooker to finish 5 minutes after the cook finishes. What the hell is going on in this kitchen?
my god some people in here a almost delusional in their hatred/love
Feeling like it’s between Pezza and Harry according to previews. Wonder if he’s 2nd again lol.
haven’t been paying much attention, has anyone been getting hero music?
“I can knock out a meatball it’s fine” Shut up Andy 😏
Pezza sweating into into his jus lol
