And here I thought he busted up the shop floor and had his coworkers pour concrete around him, wait for it to set, then had someone drive the car over him so he could record it using his Meta Quest VR headset camera
I used my phone to find where my fuel pump gasket was leaking since I didn't want to drop the tank in my driveway. Made it super easy to see where to put the RTV.
Phone cameras are op utility. I also use the front facing camera to put in usb cables behind my pc/monitor so I donāt need to pull out my desk or look for it for 10 mins
I use phone camera to check brake pad thickness by putting it between the wheel spokes instead of taking it off everytime

Poor truck may have IBS-D, sharts are too common, to fart can be like winning the lottery hoping that the rumble in the stomach is just air and not liquid
>How do I seal it?
Buy new bolts, gasket, and sealer at LAPS.
Remove the bolts, loosen the exhaust, remove the failed gasket.
Clean up mating surfaces.
Replace failed gasket, use exhaust gasket sealer, install new bolts.
Torque to spec. Recheck.
My dumbass thought he was crawling under the car and was even more worried that the drive shaft was spinning. Now I realize he just drove under his phone.
You may have to cut that entire joint out and just put on a sleeve with Ubolts. For extra precaution, I also bout 2 tiger patches for exhaust and put them on either end, wrapping over the end of each side to prevent leaks
You take it apart and put the proper gasket in it. Or you try to use one of the magic exhaust sealers and pay more when someone tries to fix it the right way and either has to spend additional time removing the sealer or can't fix it at all and says you need new parts
My car with 200k was making a whistling noise. It was the muffler. Just old and rusted out. Could be your resonator or old muffler. How.many miles.on the.car
you see the wet farting gap in your video, that's easy to spot. From the looks of it, the bolts holding it together are pretty rusty so breaking them will be a major pain in the butt. Apply a lot of heat, lube, pain and cursing and it'll eventually submit to your will. put it a new seal and screw them back together
smart idea to drive over the phone, I have a spare small screened phone i been using as a camera to get into places i cant see into and its how i diganosed a problem with my track cars transmission
Bolt on the exhaust flange on my truck snapped a few months ago. I bought bolts and gaskets to fix it but decided to cut it out and weld a piece of pipe in there for a more permanent fix
Need a new gasket on your exhaust and should probably figure out why oil is leaking out of your exhaust. It's not supposed to do that and probably means you have something wrong with timing or exhaust valves.
Jesus christ, scared tf out of me when I saw your driveshaft turning thinking you were under the car.
Should be an easy fix if the bolts aren't too rust-welded.
New gaskets, maybe clean up the flanges, and you should be all set.
Exhaust shop owner here: pop a pair of cheap sacrificial vice grips on the flange where the broken bolt is and itās fixed for five dollars.
Fuck drilling that out. Itāll be there 10 years later
New gaskets and bolts will do, but make sure to clean up the surfaces on both faces of the exhaust with sandpaper or scotch brite just to make sure it can seal properly š
Genius, I have a chirping noise coming out of the engine bay only when in gear and slightly turning the wheel on a hot engine only. I already eliminated all of the belt driven components so the mystery occasional chirp is driving me crazy. Going to try this, this weekend.
Is this a 02-09 Camry by chance? Thankfully those gaskets are easy to replace and available at most parts stores. Definitely replace the flange bolts and nuts too.
Last year an old man taught me how to find an exhaust leak. Blow Cold air up the tailpipe with a leaf blower or shop vacuum.
You can hear and find the leak on a cold pipe and repair it right away.
Good God! I wish my undercarriage looked that clean. Whatās the problem? Unbolt that connection and buy some gasket material. Cut out the shape with some kinnergarten scissors and some high temp rtv. Bolt it back together. It might smell if youāre hanging out underneath like you areā¦ dude, if you have to ask such a question well, can you change a tire? Add washer fluid? Do you need a ālifeā coach? Seriously, I bet your shoes have no laces because youād have to ask for guidance to actually tie them. lol.
Thank you all for appreciation of my diagnostic skills, did not expect this level of attention to how I recorded the thing. I am using this method rather regularly and thought it was common. The video is taken with wide-angle lens and with light (flash) on, display side on the ground. It is originally in HDR and 60fps so very fluid but after uploading here it changed to SDR and 30fps and is not so good. It took me several rides to find the correct path so that the exhaust pipe is seen in the video. The car is Suzuki Kizashi and the engine has recently been overhauled so that thing shouldn't be oil leak, rather a condensation + some CO sediment?
I will try to move these bolts but I'm afraid I will break them and will need to give the car to a shop anyway so that they do it properly. Thank you for all the ideas and advice.

Dude, driving over phone is a foreword looking move! New gasket and bolt set and your good to go!
MY dumbass thought he was laying under the car while someone drove over him.
I thought he attached a camera to a stick so I think I'm the dumbest
I thought they were squirming around on a creeper...
I thought they taped a phone to a baby and dragged him under the car with a rope.
I thought he went to a Best Buy to get an RC bot to mount his phone on and driven the bot from the front bumper all the way to the exhaust.
I thought the car was dangling from a chain and slowly being lowered past the phone
And here I thought he busted up the shop floor and had his coworkers pour concrete around him, wait for it to set, then had someone drive the car over him so he could record it using his Meta Quest VR headset camera
you know my first thought was maybe he setup the drone for a few fly bys under the car
I thought he flipped the car upside down and mission impossible dangled from a Heli across the length of the car.
š
You shouldn't play with your food.
That was my first thought , but it was so smooth I doubled down on maybe it was a floor jack or creeper.
I thought he laid his phone on a low trolley and pulled it through.
I thought he put the phone on a skateboard š¤£
I didnāt even think there was someone driving at first lol
Same here
I agree
As long as that's condensation and not oil
Yeah, im assuming its carbon/condensation. He didnt say any other problems were present, but he didnt NOT say it eitherā¦.
I love everything about this. Dude has just advanced shadetree mechanics 50 years.
Came to say the same thing lmao
Agreed
How the fuck have I never thought of this
Seriously that's a good idea if you don't have access to a lift and just wanna check
I used my phone to find where my fuel pump gasket was leaking since I didn't want to drop the tank in my driveway. Made it super easy to see where to put the RTV.

Nice, I usually peek in the spokes or use the finger gauge.
Good one too but on some models the caliper cover half of the brake pad so it's not always clear and I trust this method morešš
New skill unlocked. +15XP
Thatās how I feel, new skill unlocked. Thank you op
I came here to comment this lol. Bro is using 100% of his brain
I know, right, so simple. I have learned something useful today. Thanks OP.
IM doing this tomorrow hahah
I did that once and couldn't call nobody for days. Had to drive to deliver all my massages and then I noticed my typo. Got tipped well.
Be sure to zoom out as much as you can. Your phone will switch to its wide-angle lens and you can see more stuff
Iāve used the front facing camera on my phone to see shit I never could. You can even record video!
Exhaust leak where the fart and wet spot is
I believe thatās an exhaust shart.
Gross. Take my upvote.
What are you guys talking about over here?
Poor truck may have IBS-D, sharts are too common, to fart can be like winning the lottery hoping that the rumble in the stomach is just air and not liquid
And obtain only quality sharts at the sharts store. I hope they have what youāre looking for in shtock.
Recheck.

1/2 impact gun, tighten it till it strips or snaps win win
These guys nailed it so Iāll just add it felt like watching a Star Wars movie hahaha great idea
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1dZveoBfiww
This ship is too big. If I walk, the movie would be over.
Death Star run or Star Destroyer passing overhead?
Pretty sure with that 1000iq phone move you'll figure it out
Here I was thinking: ' what great camera work, how'd he get it so stable?' Then I saw the prop shaft moving... hol up. Cool trick.
OP you have blessed the mechanical world with this newfound knowledge šš
See the wet spot on the exhaust, thereās ya leak. Need a new gasket and probably new bolts cause they always snap
Youāre a genius.
My dumbass thought he was crawling under the car and was even more worried that the drive shaft was spinning. Now I realize he just drove under his phone.
That looks like a wet fart. He took his chances, maybe he should've gone to the toilet instead

You can clearly see the area thats coming loose, has to be cleaned and resealed

Exhaust flexi pipe seems to be perished, hopefully it's not connected to the CAT by welds or it could be expensive
Dip it in flour and fix the wet spot.
Didnāt work, wife is angry.
Bolt on the exhaust flange on my truck snapped a few months ago. I bought bolts and gaskets to fix it but decided to cut it out and weld a piece of pipe in there for a more permanent fix
Without that coupler you'll have lots of fun replacing your rusted through muffler soon...
Uhhh the leak āļø Where the noise and leak is coming fromā¦
[You blown your gasket! ](https://youtu.be/oeQUyyfJc-U?si=1JnTizuzZkXs7Dof)
Dawg! You need to win a Nobel Peace Prize for this innovative way of diagnosis

You have one leak (wet spot at triangle flange). Fix that and recheck.
I would probably run my phone over by accident if it was me
U got a leak
Genius, I have a chirping noise coming out of the engine bay only when in gear and slightly turning the wheel on a hot engine only. I already eliminated all of the belt driven components so the mystery occasional chirp is driving me crazy. Going to try this, this weekend.
When your car is farting just look for the wet patch.
Is this a 02-09 Camry by chance? Thankfully those gaskets are easy to replace and available at most parts stores. Definitely replace the flange bolts and nuts too.
Replace the exhaust donut
š
1000 Iq phone trick wtf
Last year an old man taught me how to find an exhaust leak. Blow Cold air up the tailpipe with a leaf blower or shop vacuum. You can hear and find the leak on a cold pipe and repair it right away.
some genius moves right here
4Runner?
Exhaust flex doesn't look too good... like have some damage
the flange is missing a bolt.
Pro tip: Get a torch, and heat those bolts to red hot before spraying it with some enetrating oil, or rubbing a candle to melt in.
This should win an Emmy for cinematography alone
It might need Metamucil
Bro this is fucking genius
Look for the wet spot.
Good God! I wish my undercarriage looked that clean. Whatās the problem? Unbolt that connection and buy some gasket material. Cut out the shape with some kinnergarten scissors and some high temp rtv. Looks like a wet fart
Great idea driving over phone. Iām going to do it anyway
Pour a little gas ex in the tank, should clear it up.
