Kill deer and moose (might require a bunch of chasing). Buy flax stalks with the meat money. Use the stalks to make linen thread. Use thread and leather to make thick gloves. Sell gloves to all four towns.

Autistic_Retard420

I prefer hunting Wisent. Even when you're in early game or not skilled at hunting they are easy to kill and drop about 30 leather. Just bring about 7-8 spears and chuck them at them. They'll probably hit you a couple times, but just heal up after killing one and kill another. Then turn the leather into gloves like you said. I'm a new player and I find the deer and moose too fast to hit them enough times with the shitty weapons. The wisent just comes straight at you, so it's easy to hit.

LoneWolfGaming2573

I did this it’s unfortunate tho that you can’t get 4 gloves per craft anymore

HitmanJd94

Iv only played this new update for like half hour ish but I explored and collected some loot from roadside supplies and the ruined buildings and sold them to buy a large backpack. I saw a post the otherday saying if you unlock hoods and place a sewing hut outside a town you can buy flax stalk, linen ect and make it into hoods and sell them for profit

mmciv

Just explore. I made 20k without building anything. Ruins are guaranteed to have decent loot. First building I put up was a sewing hut to make fur shoes from all the leather and fur I had from hunting. Also cooking and selling all the meat works early on.

Acrobatic_Rutabaga55

I just watched a really good video that suggests buying fish, roasting it and selling it back for some early cash. https://youtu.be/wI_Ow-HU8is?si=hA8LAHZrj9N7Lf1Z

johns0048

Yes, saw the same vid and this works. Done this a handful of times and each time you sell the roasted fish back you’ll make more money.

Miley-Anna

I also used to hunt wisent and dry the meat and sell it, gives more than roasted meat. And make simple small bags from leather and sell those.

AhemExcuseMeSir

I became a cobbler. It was a lot easier when shoes only used 4 leather and my hunters were raking it in. Now it’s 12 leather, but their price increased too. Selling shoes still seems to be helpful when flax/linen is precious, since leather is easier to acquire.

Longsearch112

If your village were developed, clothes is the answer 1 pieces of it can get you 320 minimum, the best is probably fur boots which can give you 1k gold a pair. I can easily get 20k selling hats and boots to other village, however it is a shame that the merchants in the game only have limited amount of gold so the clothes I made goes to the market instead.

Colonic_Mocha

A lot of folks raid roadside caches. I made the best money from copper tools when I started out. You can blacksmith yourself if you have a couple of villagers working the mine. And I used to sell basically anything I could. Extra cabbage? Enough logs and sticks to make a few wooden hammers? Anything and everything got sold.

No_Fox_Given82

Day 1. Steal everything from town 1, travel to town 2 to sell it and steal everything there, travel to town 3 to sell it and steal all their stuff, travel back to town 1, loot the abandoned buildings to the SE and the NE then sell everything. Sleep and start the game on day 2 begin with like 7k coin.

SmokinGalaxy

Started making basic tools and selling them for a little start-up cash. Then once the village was built up with ~5 villagers I wanted to pump production. Started making TONS of knives and selling them until I could do copper. Did the same thing. Mined all the ores I needed until I had enough money to just buy the ores from guy in middle. Rushed diplomacy as fast as possible (not sure if trading one item at a time is better or not but it seems to be) and unlocked better buying and selling prices. Now I buy all of the vendors stock in copper and tin ore, process that into knives, buy all of his bars, process that into knives, then buy all of his flax and flax stalk, turn that into bows early game and I just learned about the hoods from scrolling here. I hadn't looked through the lists to min-max the best recipe with the linen but I'll take their word for it. At level 3 barter you can still make money directly buying the bronze bars and turning them into knives as well, but I haven't been doing that yet. Donkey is a lifesaver and makes this whole process so much better if you can get one as soon as possible. I just use the knives as collateral for trading to get items I want from vendors now.

Go hunt moose/wisent and use the leather/ fur to make boots. Roast and sell the meat. Been working pretty well for me I just hunt in-between doing quests

wraithofwords

Potage and copper/bronze tools have been working really well for me. Cabbage can be planted twice in one year and animals drop tons of meat with the new update. You can turn the leather from hunting into simple bags to sell as well. I also built my village right next to a cave, so clearing that out once a season gives me the ore to make tools. Edit to add that the best way to make money right at the beginning is looting the abandoned structures around the map. It's also worth doing because you can get a straw hat, long fur hood, and boots for free from those buildings, which give enough heat and cold protection for most of the year.

hamsterfart1973

I haven't run the numbers or anything, but I make most of my money selling metal tools and clothing. I mainly sell copper Sickles, and fur shoes. But I buy some materials in town to craft other clothing. It seems like the hunting shack was nerfed a lot, it isn't very useful imo anymore compared to its previous production amounts. I made my money early on by finding items along roads, and selling it to get a backpack. Then going in abandoned buildings as well and selling what I found.

FlashyNewspaper7

Flax is still nice. I make bags out of them. They sell for 120ish coins, and "only" require 2 leather and 1 linen cloth. If you buy the resources you still double your money, which is nice.

MERKINSEASON3807

I've been able to make decent money with potions specifically one of the health ones

Sjuk86

I robbed the shit out of every town and sold to each other. Admittedly no one likes me now but I got that sweet sweet coin...

Initial-Actuary9794

Raid the roadside caches till you build a mine, start making copper sickles, sell em. Then I upgraded to bronze sickles, then iron sickles, now I have so much money that it's just silly. I'm going for the $1,000,000 achievement now.

Arthur_Decosta

Buy linen/flax, sell hoods

jdhlsc169

Buy all the fish the food vendor (Poznomir) sells in town. Roast them at the sick house you spawned in on. Sell them back to the food vendor. Pike or Perch are more expensive than the Roach but they make more Roasted Fish. One makes 7, the other 4 and the Roach makes 1. I think the Roasted Fish sell for around 11 each.

justbeingmerox

Feathers are still decent money.

ginoliotta

Starting out, after building the essentials (hunting lodge, woodshed, resource and food storages), I built a smithy. Then, every evening I'd go to a cave with logs/straw/sticks to make pickaxes and torches and mine copper and tin ores, stacking them up near the cave entrance. I'd drop the stone when I couldn't move and return to the entrance to deposit the ore (the cave floor will be littered with stones). When day arrived, I returned to my village and resumed daily activities. Then at nightfall, I'd resume my mining activity and on the final night of the season, I'd return to the cave and load up the ores and wait for next season to transport me back to my village where I'd smelt the ores and use the bars to make bronze axes for sale to vendors in the main city. It takes a while to get the technology to build a mine. The ratio of copper to tin is about 2:1 and I was able to gather about 120 copper and 60 tin every season. When I finally built the mine, iron became the main product. By using the discarded stone to make pickaxes, I had an endless supply of the tools simply by cutting trees around the cave. There's no need to build storage or housing near the mine since the miners will go to work from wherever they live and the product will flow into the resource storage. Another source of coin is collecting a lot of sticks and using the discarded stone to make stone tools

Putrid_Lifeguard5409

Planet_caravan33 has the right answer. Get those thick gloves going, when you account for the fact each production is 4 gloves it's easily one of the most profitable things you can make.  The unit of measurement for currency in my single player and coop games is gloves. Want to buy 60 limestone to insulate that new house? That's about 5 gloves.

libertypfc

They've drastically changed the pricing on almost everything. I use to make a killing on selling animals that I had extras of. Use to cover all my taxes. Another thing that use to make good money. Sell your excess seeds. I usually have a couple thousand extra flax seed that I sell. I think it's tax time on my world. So I need to generate like $7k or something stupid lol so I gotta sell a lot of shit

Mammoth_Evening5091

Im just starting to get a bit of $ from selling clothing. I get so much flax a season that its worth my time. But prior to being able to build a sewing hut I actually got most my money from finding things in clay (I built my home right next to 10 Clay Deposits)

TheGoodLife247

Here is a link to a profit and loss cheat sheet I found online that shows almost all items and the best profit items. [https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1KLhqXWyIbW7Xo7wKd0LCVqMsAhOgw5cVNbHgfsrphJg/edit?gid=0#gid=0](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1KLhqXWyIbW7Xo7wKd0LCVqMsAhOgw5cVNbHgfsrphJg/edit?gid=0#gid=0) I buy all the manure I can and convert it to fertilizer and I have pigs making manure to convert. I buy all the flax seed I can and plant it then harvest. I use it for linen and linen thread to make things like coifs to sell. I have hunters bring me leather to turn into small bags in the beginning. When you get the sewing hut use the leather and goods to make waterskins and fill them up before selling them. I have excavation people get copper and turn those into tools (axess) & weapons (Spears). This makes a lot. My gtils makes about 10,000 per season and I am not only having the people partially dedicated to this. It would yield a lot more if I did. I try to crank out money and production of needed items for expansion 50/50 the first few years. Also there are lots of hidden "treasures" you can pick up. If you go visit Sedowin, where you first spawned in the game (healer in piastovia) then you jump up into his attic and take all the stuff from there. Check the medicine kit on the floor. Lots of nice items to sell. It is not considered stealing so your rep will be fine.
