Tbh I generally don’t add measurements because I’m usually taking photos of multiple things in a row unfolded and lain out, and it’s kind of a whole extra physical step that’s just going to wind up hurting my back and whatnot if I’m getting down on the ground to measure then standing back to keep taking photos, back and forth for each item in a row repeatedly. It’s easier for me to just get out the single item someone is interested in later if they ask about measurements. That way I’m just having to physically get down and measure one thing every once in a while, rather than having to do it repeatedly many times in a row while listing many items in a row. I don’t mainly sell clothes, but I still have some clothes listings, and most of them are from brands where you can look up the same item or similar items made in the exact same cut on the brands website easily and look at their sizing guide. But I also reply with measurements when buyers message to ask. When I shop for clothes secondhand I mostly see no measurements and just look them up like this or message the seller. If the seller is unresponsive, then oh well, I’ll buy from someone else. I consider it as something that saved me from risking buying from an inactive seller lol.

Out of curiosity, why do you not measure after all the photos, as you're writing each ad? You don't necessarily have to have a picture of each measurement. I think a lot of people purchase clothing on impulse, and the more steps they have to take in the process, the more likely they are to walk away.

By that point I've usually put the item away lol. It would still require getting back up between writing each ad to lay each item out to measure it. Occasionally I might be sitting on the floor with my laptop and can do it, but usually the only space I have to lay something out is on the floor, and if I'm on my laptop I'm at my desk.

As a seller and buyer on mercari and eBay… I can confidently say that many people (sellers) are lazy! They act like providing a bit more info will take up so much time and is such a hassle for them.

It does take me time when making the initial listing, but if the listing is already posted, measuring takes less than 5 minutes lol. I don’t get it, I thought people wanted to sell their items

I bought a painting on mercari… seller never shipped. Didn’t reply to any email requesting an update (nothing nasty, always professional) and I ended up cancelling said purchase… boggles my mind!

This frustrates me, too. I'm not sure how many people understand that any particular size may differ in measurements depending on the maker. When I message sellers, I usually get no response. If I really like the item, I will screenshot it, use Google lens, and then go find the measurements on the internet myself. Sucks. I'm starting to search the name of the clothing brand I want along with the word "measurements." Then anyone selling that brand in my size who has listed measurements automatically goes to the front of the line. I also then look at the person's entire page. It just makes sense. I would make a lot more purchases if I knew stuff would fit.
