Slipknot, music was excellent until the devil in I, Jesus Christ the way they treat each other and Corey Taylor’s messiah complex have just ruined it for me
Gotta agree. I grew up with Slipknot since self-titled so always believed that "brotherhood" stuff until the Joey/Chris situations. And I just didn't like the music much after All Hope is Gone but I think the title track and Psychosocial are excellent songs.
The way they ditched joey always rubbed me the wrong way, plus he was my fav member so I don't feel bad that I stopped paying as much attention, still love the first 2 albums though
I also agree. I have actually been listening to Slipknot since a buddy of mine let me borrow a bootleg CD of MFKR back in like 97'-98'. I really enjoyed the self-titled and Iowa and still listen to them from time to time even today.
Subliminal Verses is where I started to notice Slipknot kind of dropping the ball. To their defense, I feel like they would have needed an absolute miracle to follow up those two back-to-back absolute banger albums with something even better, and SV was definitely not it. To their credit even SV was still a solid album, but living up to the previous albums just probably was not sustainable.
I actually lost all hope when All Hope Is Gone was released. Psychosocial was probably the only good track on that album and that track is pretty bland, imo. So I've checked out from Slipknot since then.
The only recent song of theirs that I like now is Unsainted, but again, it doesn't live up to their old stuff by a wide margin and everything else is plain bad to my ears.
Iowa was peak Slipknot.
All hope is gone had a few good ones but that’s what I meant up til the devil in I, that specific record didn’t have one song where I thought wow this is some premium slipknot, being born 33 years ago I got to grow up on early mudvayne, early slipknot, static x, the late 90’s early 2000’s were peak for tunes man, I like subliminal verses but I truly feel like Iowa was their peak.
Such a stand-up guy that he and Clown lied to the other band members for years about salaries and ownership in the band being equal, when it was actually just he and Clown that owned it and the rest were “employees”. So humble!
Is that the one with unsainted? I did genuinely like that song but I didn’t dig into whatever album that was, just heard it on a random YouTube playlist.
I still love slipknot but honestly could care less about the new stuff. I stopped caring about new releases after the devil in I. They just hold a special place in my heart that I can’t let go of
Metallica and Slayer come to mind. Both bands still have their classics i love but i've heard those album way to often and the other stuff they did i don't care for.
Slayer’s 90’s output is very meh to “I hate this” (besides Seasons of course). But I really like Christ Illusion, I remember nothing of World Painted Blood, and Repentless was…ehhhhhhhh.
The problem (at least in Metallica’s case, I think) is that they kept trying to ride on those classics and wouldn’t or couldn’t innovate. As a result they’ve kind of gone stale.
A lesson to artists in what happens when you play it too safe to what you know and refuse to take risks.
Same here. Sabaton and Powerwolf introduced me to metal and they were great "gateway" bands, but I can't remember the last time I had the desire to listen to any of their songs save for some of their early stuff.
Tool, ignoring the band worship, lyrical content went from confrontational and controversial to boring new-age garbage that would make Orwell shit his pants given the overuse of Latin-based words (sounds abstract, but listen to the sheer amount of modern Tool lyrics that end in "-tion" or start in "-pre" or "-sub"). There are still gems like Wings for Marie, but Lateralus onwards bores the hell out of me. I respect the evolution of the band, but as a boomer (actual millenial) that got into them around Aenima and adored the first two albums + EP, I just grew away from non-confrontational music. Even on that "passive, introspective" end of the spectrum, I vastly prefer the first Lucid Planet album to anything Tool has done recently.
Anyways, Imma go listen to Methwitch now.
how about making your fans wait 8+ years for a new album; only for it to sound derivative of previous albums. But those same fans absolutely "Emperor's new clothes" it to death. yeah, tool for me also
argh, absolutely, I tried SO HARD to give it a chance, I listened to it 5-6 times a day for a solid two weeks despite being BORED OUT OF MY MIND, because I initially hated 10000 Days and came to like it so I figured the same might occur.
It did not. Fear Innoculum has no redeeming qualities, there are songs I like but that's because they 100% sound like better Tool songs- Pneuma/Schism, Invincible/The Patient, 7empest/every song they ripped off their own riffs from, etc.
System of a down. Was my gateway to metal and playing music but jesus christ how did john dolmayan go from the drummer of a political band to a bigot in 15 years?
I’ve seen it with my own two eyes, I just didn’t screenshot them and haven’t since them since because I unfollowed. Posts about his political stance are probably banned in the sub now too
It would be like Tom Morello coming out saying that the "machine" was always wokeness to him lol. I don't understand it at all, moreover I wonder how they made the new stuff in 2020 knowing their drummer got the brain worms.
Cradle of Filth and Dimmu Borgir.
Both are absolutely talented musicians, but they lost it.
The only Cradle of Filth album I still can listen to is The Principle of Evil Made Flesh, for its raw mix of Death- and Black Metal. Back then Cradle already had reached their peak.
Practically everything after Midian annoys me nowadays.
Same goes for Dimmu: I liked them until Enthrone Darkness Triumphant. Never really got into the later stuff.
This dude gets it. When I was young (late 90s), I got into symphonic black metal, then one day was like "this is pretty lame tbh", and drifted away. When I was mid 20s I returned to black metal and got into 2nd wave and was like "wtf was I thinking before?". I draw the exact same line with Cradle (Midian and under are listenable, anything after is not), though I still unironically adore Vempire as an EP. I was never a Dimmu fan outside of Stormblast, but I imagine they took a similar Hot Topic path as Cradle did.
As much as i agree that they changed it still like post midian cradle of filth. I find while the albums arent as good there are individual songs on them that are still good
Cradle of filth for me too, I love their stuff up until they did Damnation and a day, what a load of crap that was, haven't bothered with anything after that.
While I agree, I think cradle’s had an amazing musical comeback lately. cryptoriana was incredible and their best release since midian. I recommend giving it a shot
Basically all nu-metal and post-grunge stuff. Was excellent gateway, but I can't go back. Tried recently to listen again some Ill Nino and Disturbed, feels too generic these days and I get bored fast.
Non-metal: Black Keys. Early riffy scuzz blues was my jam. Then they went retro soul/rock and got boring (and popular, not that there's anything wrong with that per se)
Metal: Grand Magus. Went too hard into Manowar territory over time imo.
> Non-metal: Black Keys. Early riffy scuzz blues was my jam. Then they went retro soul/rock and got boring (and popular, not that there's anything wrong with that per se)
Yeah. Around the point they became car commercial music, I had to give it up.
I got Iron Will at the same time as I got High on Fire's Snakes for the Divine (both firsts for me, although I'd heard a couple of HOF tracks prior) and got really into them. Fizzled out pretty quick though, not sure why both ways
Ooh I totally agree with you on black keys! I used to be a fairly decent fan of theirs and in my early teens black keys songs were staples at the music school I took guitar lessons at everyone at least learned one black keys song on what ever instrument they played but over the years they just weren’t it for me anymore.
Not specific bands per se, but hardcore. I used to be a huge HC fan but now I really struggle to listen to and enjoy it. I way prefer metal. But if I discover a new metal band and they start going all HC and beatdowny, I switch it off.
Oasis. The ending parts of their songs are too corny and repetitive. That particularity of their music bored me as time passed by. Take their song Slide Away as an example: the last 3 minutes sound like they're trapted in a loop.
Bands where i still jam the old stuff and hate the new stuff: Slipknot, Machine Head, BMTH, WSS, Metallica, Slayer.
Bands that i just grew out of and cant listen to because im an adult with functioning ears: A7X, Disturbed, BFMV, FFDP, probably a load more that i cant think of right now.
Opeth
After Watershed, they lost me. If Mikeal wanted to do some'70s Occult progrock shit, just create another band for your 70's rock and leave Opeth as it is.
Opeth's last 4 albums aren't even close to Damnation. Damnation is Opeth without the Death Metal part. Heritage, Pale Communion, Sorceress, and In Cauda Venenum aren't Opeth
Why would he not use the Opeth name? It's not like it takes away from any of the old records. Those are still there. I got into Opeth at Still Life, but I find their newer stuff more interesting than their old stuff. To be fair that's probably because there are hundreds of Opeth clones out there now, but it's not like they invented progressive death metal anyway.
Lostprophets.
Atreyu fell off a cliff once Alex left, which is a shame, because they were very influential in exposing me to heavier music. I still jam a lot of their older records though.
Yeah, SOADs debut album is a solid record and I prefered thrash Sepultura over groove/nu Sepultura. I'm not saying that either of band started playing shit or sold out or lame or whatever. I have kinda personal reasons.
EDIT: space button of my keybord is fucked
I'm not saying that either of bands started playing shit or sold out or lame or whatever. I have kinda personal reasons. If you don't like me for not listening and not liking these or any other bands, it is not my problem.
Korn, i think their first 5 albums were great but everything after that was hit or miss for me. And i just moved on to more heavier bands and never looked baxk
BAD WOLVES , I only liked their cover for the cranberries but Tommy Vext is fucking idiot and says really dumb political shit and honestly their music isn’t that fucking good.
In Flames. I was on board with everything up to and including Soundtrack to Your Escape. Quit listening to them after that shit album Come Clarity dropped in 2006 and never went back.
glad to know there are MORE folks that cut things off around the same time as I did. I was ok with CC a little bit, a couple of tracks and riffs but ASOP was so lifeless it might as well have been a fkn coaster
Cradle of Filth fell off my radar around “Godspeed…” and only recently have I taken interest in them again. Been hearing a lot of solid things from them.
Sonata Arctica has been incredibly on and off for several years now. Still need to hear the new album.
Don’t really care about Megadeth anymore, same with Lacuna Coil.
Nightwish, which used to my ride or die band (near and dear to my heart, that band was a part of my personality basically) is “wait and see” now. The new album coming up, I’ll stream it first and see how it is before I blind buy the CD.
Saw CoF live last year. They played a mix of old and new. Dude, they still got it! One of the best shows I've been to in a while! 🤘🤘
But I agree since Godspeed..., or maybe even Thornography, I started liking individual songs here and there more rather than complete albums. I can literally listen to everything from start to finish for all their stuff prior to Thornography.
Victorius. Their first few albums were amazing and even the first Space Ninjas album was pretty good. Now it just seems like they're riding the gimmick too hard and the actual music isn't a priority anymore.
Mastodon
Huge, huge fan or Remission, Leviathan, Blood Mountain...they lost me with their album after that, though I still jammed it quite a bit. Now I can't even believe it is the same band.
Not saying their last few albums are 'bad'; but I massively prefered their earlier sound.
Five Finger Death Punch. I hadn’t heard a band fuse pop with metal in a way that wasn’t hair metal before and found them exciting as a result. Eventually though, I realized that the records were painfully formulaic. Repeated structures, lyrics, song keys, riffs, etc. to the point that I simply couldn’t enjoy them the same way anymore. I still like some songs and stand by their first two albums, but as time goes by and their sound becomes less and less heavy, I find it difficult to find much to enjoy with them.
I’d say so although ALOT of their fans aren’t huge on the first 2 albums, I don’t want that to drive you away if you don’t like them. They’re more black metal influenced than death metal imo and I really can’t stand black metal but I love their first 2 records. Every album is so unique too so if you’re not crazy about one, the next one is surely to be different for you
Bodom?!?! Did you get tired of the neoclassical style, they were my favorite band of all time for like 2-3 years then it went into dissection , but I still listen to them every once in a while, I think Laiho ended off pretty strong with hexed and paint the sky with blood
Totally agree! I used to love them they were up there in top bands for me until I saw them live headlining a festival. They were horrible, it literally made me rethink why I even liked them lol I left after 2 songs and haven’t cared for them since haha definitely a horrible headliner for a festival
Same here!! I used to adore them until I met my friends ex who is literally obsessed why them like hyper fixation level. Every conversation he had to bring up Chester and it’s like he knew everything about him and the band. Like if a song played that he knew Chester liked he had to bring it up and then we’d go down the linkin park rabbit hole
Megadeth and to a lesser extent Death. Dave's vocals have fallen off a cliff, and the songwriting has not changed significantly in the past 20 years. Death is good but their music has a harsh quality due to the production quality which is not pleasant to listen to at times.
Five Finger Death Punch. When their first few albums released I thought they were the best thing since sliced bread. Loved em, couldnt have enough of them. At one point I was really close to getting a tattoo. Thank god I didn't. They're pretty cringe now, not a fan of the music, and especially not a fan of Ivan
I was really into Dream Theater in the early to late 90s, but I've moved on. Still appreciate their old stuff, but the music they put out in the new millennium is just boring for my taste.
Kamelot was the first band to come to mind for some reason. I always loved (and still love power metal) but these guys just don’t do it for me anymore for some reason.
Ghost and Slipknot. They got me into metal and that’s about it. There is one or two Slipknot songs I still like but god I have no idea how I listened to either of those bands.
I had a big glam phase in high school. Some of the bands like Dokken and Skid Rows later work are things I can still get down with, but Jesus so much of it was so bad. 90% of Motley Crue's music is filler and Whitesnake and Mr. Big genuinely just made bad music. Not to mention all the C level bands like Autograph and Danger Danger are so forgettable it's embarrassing. I wasted too much time digging through all of that crap.
AILD, don’t get me wrong I love shadows are security, an ocean between us and the powerless rise but after what Tim did and the departure of many members, I have no interest in their new music.
Dream Theater
When I was growing up, I was super into it and I enjoyed the complexity. But now I just prefer easier to digest music, and I kinda cringe at the noodling guitars and keyboards.
A lot of metalcore core bands. Architects, Parkway Drive, Bury Tomorrow, Wage War just to name a few. I just grew out of metalcore and started getting into melodic death metal and the many sub categories of black metal. It’s not that they’re bad bands, my taste in metal changed. Though Architects kind of fell off in my opinion.
Smashing Pumpkins. Used to be obsessed with them and now I can only listen to adore era or their demo in their indie days where they were kinda a new wave band
Kind of unfortunately, pretty much every older metal band. I was a huge fan of Megadeth, Slayer, Death, Metallica, all those guys. Now I just can't listen to it the same. It's not as fun as it was when I was younger.
I don't hate any of the bands and I don't think they're bad, there's just not an itch they can scratch anymore. Kinda sucks.
My Chemical Romance was the first band I ever fell in love with. I rarely ever listen to them now except for the occasional listen of their first album “I brought you my bullets, you brought me your love” that album still holds up i think.
Theyre still awesome! The #1 band to influence my taste and love for music. i used to cry in middle school thinking abt how the members would never know how much their music means to me, glad kids these days are learning about parasocial relationships lol…
slipknot. i do think their first three albums are goated but i’ve kinda grown past them a little. i’m thinking about removing their patch from my battle jacket cuz i rarely listen to them anymore
I used to love knocked loose, got into them before they got super big. heard them on Sirius Xm Liquid Metal as a showcase type thing for smaller bands and loved them. got the chance to see them at a festival was so excited but that faded when the vocalist sounded nothing like he does on album and sounded super whiney and high pitched I left after 2 songs and never listened to them again.
Symphony X. When I first heard them at 15 I thought they were really cool. I relistened to them last year and, man, how can such a great guitarist be so bad at writing riffs?
Most prog metal. There's obviously a lot of great music there still, but so much of the stuff I listened to in high school sounds so corny to me now. Especially clean vocals
Metallica - My gateway into metal music in general. I eventually got bored of their sound and favored other bands
Arch Enemy - my gateway into melodeth. Same story as metallica.
Amon amarth - Another melodeth band I used to listen to. The whole viking theme got repetitive
Lamb of God - Repetitive songwriting
Testament - not that I don't like them, more that I just got bored of listening to them.
Slipknot just kinda out grew the mask gimmick but if I hear a Slipknot song on the radio I won’t skip it now the only masked band I kinda like is mushroom head

Corey’s messiah complex?
Seriously. He's one of the most humble people I've ever seen in rock.
Such a stand-up guy that he and Clown lied to the other band members for years about salaries and ownership in the band being equal, when it was actually just he and Clown that owned it and the rest were “employees”. So humble!
Yes the humble who have to inject an opinion about everything into everything.
But what does Corey Taylor have to say about it ?
I can strongly recommend We Are Not Your Kind, they returned to a heavier style for a lot of the songs, like Solway Firth for example
Is that the one with unsainted? I did genuinely like that song but I didn’t dig into whatever album that was, just heard it on a random YouTube playlist.
Yeah it is, the album itself is all over the place in terms of sound, but the good songs are *really* good imo
His screaming sound is still unpleasant
For anyone who loved Slipknot's earlier stuff I'd recommend giving Tallah a listen, they have a similar sound
Tallah is amazing and way better than slipknot imo
You’re the second person to say this so I’ll now be obligated to give it a listen, always love discovering new bands.
Check out Justin’s videos on YouTube about the concepts for their albums as well!
Might have to check them out 🤔 ![gif](giphy|UUjSJDhb6IG2YLUGsc|downsized)
After vermillion.. Seems like once a heavy band throws a soft song out there, sees how well it's received by the mainstream, shit goes down the tubes
I still love slipknot but honestly could care less about the new stuff. I stopped caring about new releases after the devil in I. They just hold a special place in my heart that I can’t let go of

Alot of deathcore band that I've listened to.
Yeah, people often get into deathcore because it's entry level and then leave it for more extreme music
Rammstein. Among the first metal bands I liked but it's not my thing anymore. Still respect them tho
Still a fun one to return to occasionally, especially as I'm learning German.
Same here, I'll still put some Sehnsucht or Herzeleid here and there but not as often as I once did
Have you guys heard the last couple of albums? Deutschland, Radio, OK, Dicke Titten, Zeit, Adieu... I like all those songs
Yeah, I'm not a big fan of those, just feels like the same formula over and over again. Happy you like them though!
Cool flair
System of a down. Was my gateway to metal and playing music but jesus christ how did john dolmayan go from the drummer of a political band to a bigot in 15 years?
I know he's a Trump supporter, but what did he say that's bigoted?
A lot of transphobia and homophobia on his instagram stories
I don't have Instagram, I'd really appreciate some examples.
No stories today so here’s a reddit post I found searching his name https://www.reddit.com/r/systemofadown/s/ivVkO9y3uf
I also found that post when googling this but I didn't find any concrete examples in there either.
I’ve seen it with my own two eyes, I just didn’t screenshot them and haven’t since them since because I unfollowed. Posts about his political stance are probably banned in the sub now too
They don’t have any
They probably think all trump supporters are racist.
Potentially. Not all Trump supporters are racist but every racist I know is a Trump supporter.
Even Joe Biden is a Trump supporter?
It’s Reddit. They believe what they are told and conditioned to believe.
You are.
-You’re not black if you don’t vote for me. I don’t want my kids to grow up in a racial jungle Oh wait
Is this something Biden said? Do you know we hate him too? And the entire two-party system?
It would be like Tom Morello coming out saying that the "machine" was always wokeness to him lol. I don't understand it at all, moreover I wonder how they made the new stuff in 2020 knowing their drummer got the brain worms.
I was a fan in mid 2021 and didn’t really clock it until mid 2023 😂

Dimmu Borgir also fired their best songwriters and musicians at their peak.

I'll keep that in mind, thanks!
Sabaton, Cradle of Filth, Powerwolf, most nu metal, Darkthrone, and, honestly, thrash-era Megadeth. Rust in Peace does nothing for me anymore.
These are bold takes that I can't relate to but respect you for putting out there haha, DT and RiP will always be favs of mine.
Mayhem
Iron Maiden. their songs got too long and formulaic
Agree, but I still love em
Their last one wasn’t *terrible* as I recall. The four before that though were meh, yeah (at least to me)
Slipknot, disturbed.
Unless they're doing covers, Disturbed has pretty much been releasing the same song repeatedly for 20 years.
Basically all nu-metal and post-grunge stuff. Was excellent gateway, but I can't go back. Tried recently to listen again some Ill Nino and Disturbed, feels too generic these days and I get bored fast.

I can dig Brothers as they still had that groove, but El Camino onwards they got stampeded by handclaps, backing soul vocalists and farfisa organs.
That's about where I checked out too.
Delta Kream is solid, not the gritty basement blues of Rubber Factory but good blues nonetheless if that’s your jam.
they made an album called let's rock ffs. sad what happened to them
I got Iron Will at the same time as I got High on Fire's Snakes for the Divine (both firsts for me, although I'd heard a couple of HOF tracks prior) and got really into them. Fizzled out pretty quick though, not sure why both ways

Fuckin Korn
Not metal but Nirvana... just can't do it
Same. But in all honesty and with the benefit of hindsight, I was mostly a grunge poser pretending to like them just to fit in.
Lostprophets. Atreyu fell off a cliff once Alex left, which is a shame, because they were very influential in exposing me to heavier music. I still jam a lot of their older records though.
Yea let’s just forget the other stuff about that band🙄
what other stuff? Stand up band with a flawless past, no?
Ian watkins is a child sex offender
really? I thought he was in prison for using passive resistance to protest British occupation.
As soon as I was getting into them, the news broke. I completely stopped listening to them right after.
SOAD, Sepultura
I like returning to first SOAD every so often, and I'm a basic bitch that loves Roots. Sick flair btw, underrated band.
Yeah, SOADs debut album is a solid record and I prefered thrash Sepultura over groove/nu Sepultura. I'm not saying that either of band started playing shit or sold out or lame or whatever. I have kinda personal reasons. EDIT: space button of my keybord is fucked
no
Why?
Sepultura dope
I didn't say they're not
why.
I'm not saying that either of bands started playing shit or sold out or lame or whatever. I have kinda personal reasons. If you don't like me for not listening and not liking these or any other bands, it is not my problem.
oh ok👍
Lorna shore
Exactly.
Korn, i think their first 5 albums were great but everything after that was hit or miss for me. And i just moved on to more heavier bands and never looked baxk
Metallica
🤘🤘 But I agree since Godspeed..., or maybe even Thornography, I started liking individual songs here and there more rather than complete albums. I can literally listen to everything from start to finish for all their stuff prior to Thornography.
My man last sonata album is my favorite off of all of them, some lyrics seem off for me but i loved the album so much.
Def leopard Kiss Motley Crue All generic rock
Still love Def Leopard but the other two definitely. Might be nostalgia but DL just hits different every so often
Early Def Leppard rocks. I unironically like Animal, though.
Yeah animal is a guilty pleasure song. It plays a lot in the store at work and it just hits
yeah that used to be my SHIT ! but I found much better music that makes them sound pretty awful and rather boring
I could never get into anything Kiss, Motley Crue is hits only for me xd
Victorius. Their first few albums were amazing and even the first Space Ninjas album was pretty good. Now it just seems like they're riding the gimmick too hard and the actual music isn't a priority anymore.
Most powermetal bands. I just lost interest in the genre and cant get back into it.
The influence rhapsody had in PM to me was atrocious
Mastodon Huge, huge fan or Remission, Leviathan, Blood Mountain...they lost me with their album after that, though I still jammed it quite a bit. Now I can't even believe it is the same band. Not saying their last few albums are 'bad'; but I massively prefered their earlier sound.
Agree
Five Finger Death Punch. I hadn’t heard a band fuse pop with metal in a way that wasn’t hair metal before and found them exciting as a result. Eventually though, I realized that the records were painfully formulaic. Repeated structures, lyrics, song keys, riffs, etc. to the point that I simply couldn’t enjoy them the same way anymore. I still like some songs and stand by their first two albums, but as time goes by and their sound becomes less and less heavy, I find it difficult to find much to enjoy with them.
Metallica, Led Zeppelin, Greta Van Fleet, Massacre
Has Greta van fleet changed styles? I used to like their stuff but i haven’t listened to them in a while
Yeah I liked when they sounded like zeppelin lmao now it’s just a jumble of shit. Plus their fanbase is atrocious
They should've stuck to the zeppelin sound. I always heard that the singer hated the comparison, but they were so much better then
Oh yeah their fan base is very hard to deal with. On a side note I still need to check out opeth ur username reminded me of
You surely won’t be disappointed, Opeth has a little something for everybody
Start from the beginning I take it? Just like a lot of bands just to see what sticks and what you like and what you don’t?
I’d say so although ALOT of their fans aren’t huge on the first 2 albums, I don’t want that to drive you away if you don’t like them. They’re more black metal influenced than death metal imo and I really can’t stand black metal but I love their first 2 records. Every album is so unique too so if you’re not crazy about one, the next one is surely to be different for you
Cool I’ll definitely check them out!
Check out Watershed! My favorite of theirs, along with Ghost Reveries.
Slipknot, ACDC, Bodom
Bodom?!?! Did you get tired of the neoclassical style, they were my favorite band of all time for like 2-3 years then it went into dissection , but I still listen to them every once in a while, I think Laiho ended off pretty strong with hexed and paint the sky with blood
Megadeth
Five finger death punch....aaaargh they fooled me with first album, then turned into nickelback IMO
Totally agree! I used to love them they were up there in top bands for me until I saw them live headlining a festival. They were horrible, it literally made me rethink why I even liked them lol I left after 2 songs and haven’t cared for them since haha definitely a horrible headliner for a festival
linkin park nothing wrong with the members, someone ruined it for me
Same here!! I used to adore them until I met my friends ex who is literally obsessed why them like hyper fixation level. Every conversation he had to bring up Chester and it’s like he knew everything about him and the band. Like if a song played that he knew Chester liked he had to bring it up and then we’d go down the linkin park rabbit hole
that person was probably autistic I'm ngl, but for me it was a linkin park fan manipulated and abused me
Oh my gosh I’m so sorry. I can’t even imagine how horrible that must have been. I hope your doing better now
Nah it's all g it's like- the least bad thing to happen in my life dw about it
Megadeth and to a lesser extent Death. Dave's vocals have fallen off a cliff, and the songwriting has not changed significantly in the past 20 years. Death is good but their music has a harsh quality due to the production quality which is not pleasant to listen to at times.
knocked loose and kublai khan
I literally just commented about knocked loose lol one of the worst bands I’ve seen live didn’t make it past 2 songs and left haha
i dunno how i listened to those godawful vocals
I grew out of a lot of bands. I still listen to them on occasion, but the Big 4 of Thrash, especially.
Metallica
Sabaton, used to like them, and now i just listen to nothing past 91.
Prong
Amogh Symphony. Dug their music earlier but now except for their first two albums, I am bored. Mr Bungle also doesn't do much for me anymore
I still consider slayer to be my favourite band but I overplayed them so much it’s unlistenable
Metallica. Pantera.
AILD, don’t get me wrong I love shadows are security, an ocean between us and the powerless rise but after what Tim did and the departure of many members, I have no interest in their new music.
Devil driver. First 3 albums were amazing and now they are so bad I can't even with their shit
Opeth The Cure
Dream Theater When I was growing up, I was super into it and I enjoyed the complexity.
Archspire, Gorod, SYL, tool
Kind of unfortunately, pretty much every older metal band. I was a huge fan of Megadeth, Slayer, Death, Metallica, all those guys. Now I just can't listen to it the same. It's not as fun as it was when I was younger. I don't hate any of the bands and I don't think they're bad, there's just not an itch they can scratch anymore. Kinda sucks.
Megadeth, AC/DC, Green Day, Disturbed
My Chemical Romance was the first band I ever fell in love with. I rarely ever listen to them now except for the occasional listen of their first album “I brought you my bullets, you brought me your love” that album still holds up i think.
Reading this made me chuckle cuz I’m a huge mcr fan lol
Theyre still awesome! The #1 band to influence my taste and love for music. i used to cry in middle school thinking abt how the members would never know how much their music means to me, glad kids these days are learning about parasocial relationships lol…
Slipknot. They're just corny to me now. I loved the Adderall EP though. Best stuff since MFKR (When they were good)
Bait used to be believable
Nah. That’s my actual opinion.
Metallica
slipknot. i do think their first three albums are goated but i’ve kinda grown past them a little. i’m thinking about removing their patch from my battle jacket cuz i rarely listen to them anymore
Completely disagree but to each their own
Wow that is… something I guess
Most prog metal. There's obviously a lot of great music there still, but so much of the stuff I listened to in high school sounds so corny to me now. Especially clean vocals
Do you count Ne Obliviscaris as prog metal?
I would. Ne obliviscaris was actually my favorite band for a while and I still think their first 2 albums are great
I don't think their albums following the first two are any weaker
Metallica - My gateway into metal music in general. I eventually got bored of their sound and favored other bands Arch Enemy - my gateway into melodeth. Same story as metallica. Amon amarth - Another melodeth band I used to listen to. The whole viking theme got repetitive Lamb of God - Repetitive songwriting Testament - not that I don't like them, more that I just got bored of listening to them.
I used to have a soft spot for Blind Guardian, Angra or Rhapsody, but I kinda hate it now
Slipknot just kinda out grew the mask gimmick but if I hear a Slipknot song on the radio I won’t skip it now the only masked band I kinda like is mushroom head
Pantera. Even though I have tickets for the UK reunion tour.
I used to love early Sepultura. Tried to listen to Arise and BtR recently and got nothing from it.
