Yeah, to get that reference you have to be a little bit of an LotR nerd. Grond was the battering ram that was brought back by Sauron to take down the gates of Minas Tirith. It was originally part of his master Morgoth's hammer.
I came from knowing metal is only heavy metal
To learning all these different subgenres
To coming back and literally can’t name one band as heavy metal
Dunno if that makes sense, but maybe I do know NWOBHM, but what about non-brit heavy metal
Bah I confused myself like Pokemon
I only got one album last year (among about 75) of a band I would categorize as heavy metal: Sorcerer. Now, I often see them being called epic doom, but at least on their latest album I'd argue there's not much doom left and if they're not heavy metal, almost no one is.
I mean, Sauron's volcano is named Mount Doom. Nazgul are commonly known as Black Riders and their appearance is that of MGLA, UADA, Gaerea, etc. I kinda wanted to add Morgoth as doom or black, he'd fit as either, but he isn't in the films and no one would know him.
Who should be metalcore?
Sunn O))) rocked that look *way* before the bands you mentioned.
Metalcore is probably [Frodo and Sam in orc armour](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CYZrGRhUQAAl-YE.jpg).
There's several more subgenres... and then there's the sub-subgenres, One such is known as "blackened death" and it would be a Black Rider on a fell beast.

in all reality, the first few videos are enough for basics and then it just gets more and more esoteric, but I thoroughly enjoyed wasting my life watching all of them
Yeah glam would be like David Bowie, Queen, Elton John. For some reason a lot of people mistake the term glam to relate to Hair Metal like Motley Crue, Def Leppard, Poison etc

Where was Gondcore when the Westfold fell?
On tour
GROND

✨grondcore✨
Gondorcore
Condomcore
The ghost king should be Thrash metal. He has an underlying political message/conflict that everyone just ignores xD
Gimli would love wind rose
Everyone would love Wind Rose if they listened to them.

Grond music never disappoints 🙌🏼
That moment when you Google 'Grondcore' just in case it's a new subgenre you've never heard of
Yeah, to get that reference you have to be a little bit of an LotR nerd. Grond was the battering ram that was brought back by Sauron to take down the gates of Minas Tirith. It was originally part of his master Morgoth's hammer.
I think Metalcore should be Faramir, Doom should be Saruman and Symphonic should be Galadriel maybe.
I think Saruman is Symphonic because Christopher Lee sang a few songs with Rhapsody of Fire
Yes, and he was literally in his own symphonic metal band.
That’s true I’m just going off the actual characters rather then the actors who play them.
I think Faramir has already suffered enough under his father Denethor...
And Eowyn’s stew
I think Saruman ought to be Industrial
That would also make sense, but what would doom be?
Maybe the Balrog?
Yeah that’s a good call
I could definitely see Durin's Bane, the balrog that Gandalf fights, as death/doom.
Mount Doom. Or maybe Mount Doom should be Melodeath?
Doom is \*Sauron.
Why would Saruman, the wizard, be industrial?
You did thrash dirty But damn you right with power and heavy
At first I thought Legolas should have been power but then I saw OP had him as glam and yeah that's valid honestly
Nu metal as gollum lmao
Rough
I came from knowing metal is only heavy metal To learning all these different subgenres To coming back and literally can’t name one band as heavy metal Dunno if that makes sense, but maybe I do know NWOBHM, but what about non-brit heavy metal Bah I confused myself like Pokemon
Dio is heavy metal and non-brit
I only got one album last year (among about 75) of a band I would categorize as heavy metal: Sorcerer. Now, I often see them being called epic doom, but at least on their latest album I'd argue there's not much doom left and if they're not heavy metal, almost no one is.
Viking is my favorite sub genre and Gimli is the most relatable LOTR character ever. I feel at peace
Should have been Eomer or Theoden imho
Treebeard is my dude
Fuck yeah, somehow my favorite subgenre and character from the series! Jammed to Moon Coven today.
Your favorite character? \*Shadowfax sheds a tear\*
“Now, don’t be hasty.”
Shadowfax is haste.
Ride now, ride now! Ride to Grondcore!
Why you gotta do Smeagol like that?
Give ol' Gollum a small soul patch or something if you're gonna label him *nu*. He actually sounds like the dude from Dimmu Borgir.
Black and Doom should be swapped, and metalcore is just plain wrong
I mean, Sauron's volcano is named Mount Doom. Nazgul are commonly known as Black Riders and their appearance is that of MGLA, UADA, Gaerea, etc. I kinda wanted to add Morgoth as doom or black, he'd fit as either, but he isn't in the films and no one would know him. Who should be metalcore?
Sunn O))) rocked that look *way* before the bands you mentioned. Metalcore is probably [Frodo and Sam in orc armour](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CYZrGRhUQAAl-YE.jpg).
That's true, but the style is more common in bm.
I would swap metalcore with deathcore if you leave it as the Mouth of Sauron
Yea fuck grindcore! Grondcore for life!
Mouth of Sauron is the Sleep Token singer confirmed
don't insult metalcore like that
I'd switch Arwen and Saruman. Arwen looks like she could front Epica.
# GROND
grond mentioned. neurons activated.
Stoner 🤣🤣
black. 😎
NU pic is best representation of the genre
FUCK YEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAA
Treebeard would have a few choice words for the stoners burning his distant relatives. He’s a much better fit for funeral doom.
I don't think Treebeard cares for all plants as he does for his trees. But, his lifespan and cadence would definitely fit funeral doom.
Progressive. Steve Howe lookin mf. Right on.
I got Nu Metal and Metalcore… yeah… they fit well
In grond we crost
Dwarf metal is a thing tho
Can’t go wrong with Aragorn
Goregrond is my fav subgenre of grondcore
Dwarf metal, you had 1 job
GRONDCORE
The berser-Uruk-hai that blows up helms deep is goregrind or whatever IA is
Damn, I listen to all of these and love LOTR. Perfect mash-up.
Gimli, son of Gloin, should be dwarf metal. This comment is sponsered by Windrose
Grond grond grond!
I love Grondcore
My favorite subgenre, heavy.
Stoner should be Bilbo smoking a Pipe.
I still can't believe how accurate a meme can be!
Nu metal is on point
You're making metalcore look way cooler than it deserves.
Over here from r/lotrmemes there are this many subgenres of metal?
There's several more subgenres... and then there's the sub-subgenres, One such is known as "blackened death" and it would be a Black Rider on a fell beast.
If you're interested, there's probably a whole set of albums based on Tolkien's work
Blind Guardian has songs based on Tolkien's work on many albums. And the entire album "Nightfall in Middle-Earth" is about The Silmarillion.

GLAM ISN'T FUCKING METAL URINAL CAKE ISN'T CAKE
Yeah glam would be like David Bowie, Queen, Elton John. For some reason a lot of people mistake the term glam to relate to Hair Metal like Motley Crue, Def Leppard, Poison etc
Where is sludge and stoner?
Stoner is up there, it’s Treebeard. Not sure who sludge would be, maybe Wormtongue? Or the Watcher?
Where’s Drone metal?
Here you go: https://youtu.be/Q23_LCri1Kw?si=x2hmFmDMXSWZymou
where's Elrondcore?
What would Meshuggah/djent be?
Why give Gimli viking metal when dwarf metal exists? Diggy diggy hole.
I left it as viking because viking is more of a defined sub of it's own. Dwarf isn't really defined, it's just folk about dwarves.
Treebeard is basically an Electric Wizard album cover.
