FITF is good, although for me it never quite lived up to PTF. Not as coherent and solid throughout. The Last American Cowboy intro is the business though.
Hadn't listened to The Bled / Pass the Flask until a few weeks ago and realized there was a hole in my repertoire and knowledge of metalcore until that point.
Heat Fetish is always glossed over in the same fashion that the Anti Mother album by Norma Jean does… I always go back to it and forget how big and airy it sounds, but it’s never been that popular. But yea, they’re legit.
There was such a sea change for them, but I do appreciate artists trying new things, expanding where they are comfortable. It’s just not always as listenable, for me.
Appreciation for the anti mother! Love that album. With Chino and Page in the mix and the very raw rock sound, it felt like definite homage to those artists and similar of the time.. when viewed with the whole discog, I love the short changeup.
Probably my favorite band ever. Pass the flask is my favorite but really love their first 3 albums. Breathing room barricades on silent treatment kinda reminds me of like a perfected version of porcelain hearts…was 17-19 when they came out and me and my old band mates would get high in our parents driveways late at night rotating between the bled, underoath, etid, beloved, and aild just playing tons of bands. Good times and a great band.
Lmao I was more of nu metal kid when I started to play in bands and crossover to the heavier stuff and other bands would make fun of my ass cause I still had baggy clothes 😭
Massive Norma Jean fan over here 👈 Love their discog…BTMKTC was my gateway drug into heavier music.. glad I stuck around for the next 20+, ha. It’s between Redeemer and Wrongdoers for my overall fave I’d say.. you?
Saw them and the bled at furnace fest a couple years ago…beloved was amazing. The bled had technical difficulties (or the board operator did) and it killed their set momentum. They were still great though. Saw them once when I was 17 at obsessions in NJ. There was like 30-50 people there. (It was a rainy st paddy’s day) and because I played in the scene we basically knew a lot of people at the show. They played pass the flask and found in the flood basically in their entirety…best show ever for me.
I saw them with a crowd of like 100 people at warped tour 2004 without knowing who they were… the energy fucking blew me away instantly… still one of the most memorable sets I’ve ever seen
Love them. They're one of my top 5 favourite bands.
It was wonderful seeing them play Pass the Flask entirely recently too. They've still got the goods live.
I filmed this at the gig:
https://youtu.be/rWtgd1wsLXQ?si=Y0jjcs391S0E2dbC
I honestly hope you do get the chance man, they're really good live.
I was also at one of their final shows in the UK back when they split up too, so it was doubly nice seeing them again after so long.
It was a social media music site from the early 00's where bands would put their singles online for you to download.
Simpler fucking times. I was like 13 and had a massive mp3 collection because I wouldn't stop hitting the button that shuffled you to a new band.
I remember this too! Also Myspace. I had GIGS of deathcore/metalcore EPs from this era that I did NOT backup. I was not happy about that hard drive failing.
Me and my band payed to be on the front page for like a week (or however long it was) once! we did end up getting a couple thousand plays and some more traffic which was cool…miss that site! Was such a good site for local bands to get there music out there as well as connect with others and put together shows.
I saw them when this album came out, supporting Funeral For A Friend. The other supports were 36 Crazyfists and My Chemical Romance!
It was over 20 years ago....
It was! And I met FFAF before the gig (they signed the Killswitch Engage album I'd just bought and wrote "sorry guys") and met The Bled at the merch stand and they signed their cd for me!
When i saw them years ago he did a line from biggie’s “dead wrong” “biggie smalls for mayor, the rap slayer, the hooker layer, motherfuckers say you’re prayers”… dun dun dun dun dun…
They rule. PTF and Found In The Flood are bangers. They put on such a killer show too. I remember seeing them in the Fiesta Mall parking lot on the couch tour in Mesa back in like 07. They always fuckin ripped.
[this video has lived rent free in my head](https://youtu.be/LCNAC4u8y8w?si=1hSEt-9BpOiDXS_a) for the last 15 years or so. I’d see them again on their current tour if given the chance, might still be a good time!
The Bled is a band that I should absolutely adore. They have all the hallmarks of bands I love and when I actively choose to listen to them, I have a great time.
But for some reason, when I'm not listening to them I have to remind myself they exist.
Even seeing this post, I was like "OH YEA THE BLED I should listen to them soon"
They were good and they thanked who did show up profusely, but at that point in time they just weren’t what my local scene wanted. Unfortunate but true.
Apparently it was a Hot Topic [exclusive](https://www.discogs.com/release/5619368-The-Bled-Pass-The-Flask#:~:text=Hot%20Topic%20exclusive.%20Repress%20on%20black%20180%20gram%20vinyl.%20500%20copies.).

Fucking love the bled. Pass the flask shreds front to back. I was a freshman in highschool when that album dropped and saw them live in 2004. Ruth buzzi better watch her back was so god damn tight live.
The bassist of The Bled is the creative director at the graphic design agency I worked at for a while. Always fun to talk about tour stories over lunch, good dude.
Band that got me into metalcore and will forever be one of my absolute favorites.
Got my nose broken at their 20th anniversary show and they sent me merch! Awesome guys. Awesome band.
Haha sorta. Some hot head just swung at the edge of the pit like a jackass. Glad I could still take a hit and get back into the show after cleaning up though.
They were the first show I ever saw, actually just saw them a few months back because they did an anniversary show for Pass The Flask.... shit took me way back
I saw them perform Pass The Flask in full the other week. I’m only 21 but I got into them after checking them out from seeing their tour poster a couple months ago, so good. I’ve seen Underoath, The Bled and Funeral For A Friend the last month so had a good run on post hardcore gigs recently.
I saw them in like 2006 or 2007 in Seattle. I had some friends at the show. We got separated, but I got on stage and James gave me a fucking mic pass on…fuck I don’t remember what song but it was a very memorable part from pass the flask.
Well I meet up with my friends days later and one of them had a disposable camera. Was flipping through photos and she didn’t even know it at the time but she got a fucking picture of that exact moment. I still have the photo somewhere. It was magic.
Pass The Flask or Found In The Flood (which is much more of a post-hardcore record) are probably their best work. Although the '21 re-master *massively* elevates Silent Treatment. It always felt like there was some solid material there, it was just being buried under a crappy mix.
The vocals do hold PTF back for me, even at the time of release. Definitely not the strongest of screams even in an era where ropey technique was abundant.
That’s fair, and if we are being real the album is heavy on the relationship angst, but the clever guitar play brings it home for me.
I didn’t appreciate their subsequent work nearly as much. For example My Assassin starts so strong but, for me, doesn’t payoff or meet the intro build up.
I had to look up the lyrics lol. I don't know a lot of lyrics. It's more about how you say it more than what you say, to me. But yes that song is awesome!
That’s fair, haha, so this song is the ender and that lyric is part of the crescendo to cap it all off. For me it’s repping the struggle that we all endure. Would you prefer a spitshine sonata?
Still listening to them to this day. I have Found in the Flood and Silent Treatment on vinyl. So good. Still looking for a decent price on a copy of Pass the Flask though.
Pass the Flask was one of my biggest influences and one of my first of MAAAAAANY fortes into experimental/ post hardcore/ heavy music at all. They helped open Pandora’s box for me
Love their Bad Brains cover that they did for the American Wasteland soundtrack but never dug any deeper. Pass the Flask is where a guy should start yeah?
Pass the Flask rules Found in the Flood is a solid follow up
FITF is good, although for me it never quite lived up to PTF. Not as coherent and solid throughout. The Last American Cowboy intro is the business though.
The fitf demos back in the day were better than the album
Hadn't listened to The Bled / Pass the Flask until a few weeks ago and realized there was a hole in my repertoire and knowledge of metalcore until that point.
Didn't found in the flood come first?
No. Pass the Flask was first
They are how I got into heavy music. Someone sent me a song of their's over MSN messnger took 8 hours lol
Haha same here, what is this wonderful cacophony
The Bled are great. I agree that Pass The Flask is an essential record. It's still in my rotation.
I think PTF is underrated, just so fucking good front to back.
Let’s set our hearts on self destruct
You get me brother
Still have a shirt with this on the back and a grenade/heart on the front…it rules
Heat Fetish is always glossed over in the same fashion that the Anti Mother album by Norma Jean does… I always go back to it and forget how big and airy it sounds, but it’s never been that popular. But yea, they’re legit.

You are taking me back man, the shows, the scene, shit was crisp
Everything about it was perfect.
My sister never got her skinny jeans back lmao
Lmao I was more of nu metal kid when I started to play in bands and crossover to the heavier stuff and other bands would make fun of my ass cause I still had baggy clothes 😭
Damn your balls could breath why don’t they design woman’s pants that way
For real. Something I’ll never understand.
Same but no norma jean!?
Massive Norma Jean fan over here 👈 Love their discog…BTMKTC was my gateway drug into heavier music.. glad I stuck around for the next 20+, ha. It’s between Redeemer and Wrongdoers for my overall fave I’d say.. you?
Bless the martyr and o god, I never really listened past that. I moved on to Botch and the chariot after that.
Bless the martyr was a staple as well. I didn’t wanna keep going with bands lmao
We may have lived parallel lives based on this comment. Beloved is just so damn good!
Saw them and the bled at furnace fest a couple years ago…beloved was amazing. The bled had technical difficulties (or the board operator did) and it killed their set momentum. We’d be friends
Do yourself a favor and turn up the headphones to, “Porcelain Hearts and Hammers for Teeth”, beautiful notes, solid buildup and the perfect payoff.
Thanks for reminding me of The Bled. Haven't listened to them in years, but i have the Pass the flask on CD 😃
Give the album a run through, it’s a good listen when ya come back to it haha
Gonna give it a spin this weekend 😊
Saw them at Furnace Fest a few years ago and they absolutely killed it.
The bled rules. Never met another Gemini was a straight banger. Seemed like they existed in a microcosm for me. 2000s were a mindjob!
As I awaited your return
Love them. They're one of my top 5 favourite bands. It was wonderful seeing them play Pass the Flask entirely recently too. They've still got the goods live. I filmed this at the gig: https://youtu.be/rWtgd1wsLXQ?si=Y0jjcs391S0E2dbC
Fuck man always wanted to see them live and specifically that album, awesome bro jealous
I honestly hope you do get the chance man, they're really good live. I was also at one of their final shows in the UK back when they split up too, so it was doubly nice seeing them again after so long.
Silent Treatment is definitely worth a listen, Brian McTernan on production (Thrice, Circa Survive etc)
Definitely a solid producer, I’ll give it another spin.
1st track kicks your ass, you know like they do. 🤘
The remaster was much needed, the record really shines.
The title track is amazing
One of the best bands ever.
Seriously underrated
Shout out to PureVolume for changing my life.
Not familiar my dude what album that be?
It was a social media music site from the early 00's where bands would put their singles online for you to download. Simpler fucking times. I was like 13 and had a massive mp3 collection because I wouldn't stop hitting the button that shuffled you to a new band.
Dude you jogged my memory nice pull, let’s put that on MySpace
I found this a few years ago. I link to everyone who remembers this era. https://archive.org/details/myspace-Music
I remember this too! Also Myspace. I had GIGS of deathcore/metalcore EPs from this era that I did NOT backup. I was not happy about that hard drive failing.

They’re pioneers of the scene
💯
I saw them when this album came out, supporting Funeral For A Friend. The other supports were 36 Crazyfists and My Chemical Romance! It was over 20 years ago....
Wow that sounds like an amazing combo, bet the show was littt
It was! And I met FFAF before the gig (they signed the Killswitch Engage album I'd just bought and wrote "sorry guys") and met The Bled at the merch stand and they signed their cd for me!
Silent Treatment, even pre-remaster is so underrated
What’s your fav on that?
I went down a rabbit hole recently just watching live red wedding breakdowns. Munoz is funny.
Say hi to Rob for me lol

They rule. PTF and Found In The Flood are bangers. They put on such a killer show too. I remember seeing them in the Fiesta Mall parking lot on the couch tour in Mesa back in like 07. They always fuckin ripped.
Love to hear they killed it live
[this video has lived rent free in my head](https://youtu.be/LCNAC4u8y8w?si=1hSEt-9BpOiDXS_a) for the last 15 years or so. I’d see them again on their current tour if given the chance, might still be a good time!

I get that, that’s part of why I posted, they seem forgotten? PTF is just so fucking solid and I don’t think it gets the credit it deserves
Pretty sick band.
Agreed man, got me through high school and college haha
Played with them once back in maybe 2010/2011. They ended up playing to a room of about 15 people.
WTF, the guitarist is so sick. I guess it just doesn’t happen for every band. They have a special place in my heart either way.
They were good and they thanked who did show up profusely, but at that point in time they just weren’t what my local scene wanted. Unfortunate but true.
Thanks for the context man, music can be tied to an era as much as a time and place.
If anyone's selling PTF on vinyl HMU.
Something I didn’t know I wanted until now haha, no worries you got first dibs
I’m not sure if it’s ever been pressed, but I would spend good money if it is/ever will be.
Love pass the flask
It’s so good, really at least for me it is a top 5. It’s formative, helped define the genre.
All their albums are great.
What’s your favorite?
It’s a very tough choice, but I think I’d have to go with Found In The Flood.
*We are the industry* *We are the industry* *We are the industry* *We are the industry* Fucking love the bled. Pass the flask shreds front to back. I was a freshman in highschool when that album dropped and saw them live in 2004. Ruth buzzi better watch her back was so god damn tight live.
The birth and the death The birth and the death The birth and the death The birth and the death
I like one song of theirs
Which?
Starving Artiste. I heard it way back in the day on a Tony Hawk game I was obsessed with. Great game and song.
Recently got FITF on Vinyl, stumbled across it randomly and had to get it. 10th grade staple.
Excellent man nice
Top 5 band of all time for me. Huge influence
They are that good agreed
The bassist of The Bled is the creative director at the graphic design agency I worked at for a while. Always fun to talk about tour stories over lunch, good dude.
Pass The Flask is great, but Found In The Flood is better
I have to disagree but glad the bled is in the playlist 🤘
Band that got me into metalcore and will forever be one of my absolute favorites. Got my nose broken at their 20th anniversary show and they sent me merch! Awesome guys. Awesome band.
Badge of honor, well done 🤘

Don't know why but I always think bleeding through when I see the bled. Great band though. Love their music. (I like bleeding through more 😎).
Love the bled Think I first heard them on pure volume, and my mate got into them along with Alexisonfire Which was amazing when they toured together.
I saw them in like 2006 or 2007 in Seattle. I had some friends at the show. We got separated, but I got on stage and James gave me a fucking mic pass on…fuck I don’t remember what song but it was a very memorable part from pass the flask. Pass the flask is killer. It the only album I heard from them. Great from start to finish.
How we reach for the stars only to swim right through 🙏

Still have PTF on repeat.
Their first two records are 10/10’s. I managed to catch them on the 20th Anniversary tour in SoCal and they haven’t missed a beat.
Still listening to them to this day. I have Found in the Flood and Silent Treatment on vinyl. So good. Still looking for a decent price on a copy of Pass the Flask though.

Love them! They are one of the bands that got me here.
