Ive come to the conclusion you can only get past this while grabbing the missile tank lol
But I planned on doing the rest the intended way after getting to a spot that was too hard for me anyway lol it did feel cool though getting the wall jump in this post after someone asking if it was possible in a previous post
There are two techniques to sequence breaking the second jump. The fastest way to do it is called the [CWJ (Continuous Wall Jump)](https://wiki.supermetroid.run/Continuous_Wall_Jump) and you’ll see it used in any% speed runs. If I recall it’s a one or two frame trick but it looks awesome. The backup strat if you mistimed the initial jump is just to land on the central pillar, and diagonally bomb jump across.
Once you finish your play through, you should check out some speed runs of the game. There’s lots of really cool categories that showcase tons of really cool tricks that open up the game and add a lot of replayability
I commented in the post too, but it's totally do-able, you just have to start running from the previous room and time it to keep your momentum when you land on the center post. (edit, you might need high jump boots).
Top players actually can bomb jump over the missile pack without getting it; it's not easy. In low% it's an option that lets you pick up a super missile pack instead (the runner on the left did so in order to have a tiny bit more safety while fighting Ridley early, which is really risky in general but slightly faster than the intended order) https://youtube.com/watch?v=1YBl8cyMOps&t=12m14s
yeah it's crazy, i believe you have to build speed in the room to the left, jump at the right moment b4 the water, then wall jump off the right side of the item podium
Lots of things have fun nicknames in Super Metroid, and some rooms even have official nicknames. For example, the devs call the room where you're supposed to learn the wall jump "Hell".
Love this game, and especially love going to places early! I don't play on pad but if I did I would definitely use joycons for the separate buttons: helps with walljumping (but pretty much any pad is better at avoiding accidental up/down inputs than the pro controller). FYI disabling morph doesn't actually make walljumping easier, so extra good job!
Ay thanks much! You’re right lol if I hit the down arrow I still would have failed lol but I enjoy it too. I’ve already got varia and grapple, played quite a bit after :D
> Hard to get used to switching between different items with select
This is mostly a relic from the previous metroids, I'm sure I used the default controls when I first played in '94, but I very much advise any newer players to at least switch the weapon select to one of the face buttons.
That's not an easy climb. Good job.
Thank you much!
Finally a video where someone gets out of there. Awesome!
WOO!!
The save!!
Nice
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) this one feels impossible though https://www.reddit.com/u/Jones___/s/taZIF5Cz9m
That's because it is. You're supposed to be getting upgrades in Norfair right now, iirc. Even this jump you're doing here is a sequence break.

Very interesting, thanks for explaining!!

I love the speed runs, they’re mesmerizing to watch lol it’s inspiring

Hi jump boots are not required.
Vanilla SM does not have momentum conservation on landing from a jump unless you mockball or air mockball into springball bounce.

It's not. It's a double two-frame trick that allows you to get the missle and wall jump off the edge of the platform.
it's possible but pixel perfect and takes a lot of practice
Damn man, that’s nuts

SCUNT INCOMING
Think of it like this, you're wall jumping off the ledge the missile is on. So you have to overshoot it slightly. It's hard but doable.
YYYYYYOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
LETSGOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Congrats on getting the Red Tower climb during your first run! It takes a lot of dexterity.
Didn’t know it had a name! Thanks! 🙏

How did you kill the rippers?
Super missiles

Oh great heavens yeah
I did it without destroying the bettles cause I forgot Super Missle killed them 😭 [Clip](https://www.reddit.com/r/Metroid/s/lIkaiFFrFY)
Hahah I tried for a little before realizing too xD your clip is FAST
Yeah fuck this part lol
I'm replaying Dread right now, so I totally expected Samus to grip on to the edge there lol. I gotta replay Super after! Great job here!
Thanks man! I love how much of a homage to the old side scrollers Dread is. Combination of everything
Nice!

That’s a great idea, I might try and swap it with Y for clearing the selection
But I shoot with Y and jump with B!
I see! Lol do you sprint with A then?
Yes, there's never an instance where you need to boost and shoot at the same time.
Congrats!
🙏🙏
Those darn controls at the bottom... They always irk me lol, disabling them is best
Ledge Grab and Respin, i miss you
Nice sequence break! That’s not super easy. Especially without OG squishy SNES D-Pads
Looking good man. This is the definitive Metroid for a reason, I'm excited for ya!
