Relatively easy process. The walk to metrorail airport 5-10 minutes through the airport. There are ticket machines at the entrance and a security guard if you need help. Once you board you must switch to another train to get on the main metro rail line. BUT while relatively easy, I find an Uber ride at about $20 more convenient.

Do you have to switch? Orange line covers both airport and Brickell

Airport People Mover -> Metrorail Orange line -> Brickell

If you arrive on a weekday before 8:00 PM: take the MIA people mover from the terminals to the rental car center/metrorail station. Follow signs to metrorail once you get there. Then just hop on a train and ride it all the way to Brickell. Brickell metrorail station is right in the center of the neighborhood. If you arrive on a weekday after 8 PM or on a weekend at any time, do the same thing as above, except the metrorail train will terminate at Earlington Heights station (1 stop) where you will then have to transfer to a green line southbound train. The wait shoildnt be long but trains run at 30 minute headways during these times so worst case you will be sitting for that long. Once you get on a green line southbound, just ride that into Brickell.

Why not an Uber?

It’s simple to go from MIA to Brickell, if you want the experience. I lived in downtown for 12 years and although it can get a little ugly after dark with homeless people and the streets where there are no residential buildings lonely, nothing ever happened to me and I walked around a lot. Brickell is even safer. Enjoy!

The train should have a direct line to brickell from the airport. If they changed it no problem, take the train ant them just get down at goverment center, go down one floor and get to ride on the metro mover( free of charge). Uber its convinient but as something to enjoy I do it everytime i go to downtown or brickell. I ratglher take the trian and metro mover than deal with parking. I get to enjoy downtown more since im above the streets with no traffic and people walking by and i dont have to drive. Everytime family comes over to visit and they havent used the train, i make them go with me and everytime they are pleased i make them do it cuz its enjoyable.
