Stay uninsured šŸ¤·šŸ¾ā€ā™‚ļø and unlicensed u good my boy idk y u came on here to tell on yourself

Worried_Strike6219

Good advice from one douche to another

Competitive_Emu_799

Check that youā€™re not overinsuring yourself. I had a ā€˜14 vw on a policy where it had the same coverage as a brand new lease cause of the other car on the household. Also mileage. Ended up separating it.Ā  And if you have people living in your house with bad driving you suffer as well.Ā

HighEngineVibrations

You can never have enough coverage. You crash into a luxury supercar in Miami and you'll wish you had at least $100K property damage

adamdgoodson

In Los Angeles, a friend of mine did just that. He hit a Ferrari. Totaled it. His insurance covered the first $100k and after that, he had to come out of pocket for it. He had to refinance his own home to get the loan amount or file for bankruptcy and lose his house.

HighEngineVibrations

Yup. That's why I have the maximum auto policy limits and an umbrella policy on top of that for $300 a year for $2 million

Flyflyguy

With all due respect go fuck your self. You are the problem.

Verbalkynt

Public transportation or Uber/Lyft Or see if you can pay 6 months to a year and see how much money that saves

noldshit

$1153 for a corolla, an old nissan pickup, two middle aged drivers, no at fault accidents, no speeding tickets. Fuck this place. Miami native, cant wait to get out.

ZeusAdvocate

Im out here with no accidents no tickets. I was just quoted $5,531 yearly for a 2013 ford focus

chocoyon

Look for the minimum legally required insurance. This covers damages to 3rd parties only, not yourself or your own car. This costs me and my wife ~$215 per month total for our 2 cars. Estrella gives me the best rates. I am a defensive driver with no accidents ever.

sysaphys

It's not just uninsured drivers driving rates up, its the blatant fraud and inside jobs happening. Finance a car but can't pay it? Np problem talk to the right person and your car will be "stolen" and chopped. You might even get your palms greased. Not to mention all the fucked up shit they do in body shops. Everything down here is a scam and everyone knows someone who knows someone that can hook you up.

HostageInToronto

Uninsured and unlicensed drivers are why our insurance rates are so high. About 1/2 of Miami drivers are uninsured. Most major car insurers don't do business in MDC for that reason, shrinking the supply and increasing premiums. Once you add the fraud to that, our high rates make sense. The solution is to start using plate scanners to ticket and tow every uninsured car on the road, but that is politically untenable as certain politically significant communities here make up a disproportionate amount of the unlicensed and uninsured drivers.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

BrowardBoi

Itā€™s just state enforced private revenue. Fuck em and fuck anyone driving something they canā€™t afford. Whyā€™s dipshit kid in a new beemer paying as much or less than I am for my old ass Chevy? Donā€™t make no sense

Hysteria113

They arenā€™t their parents bought them their beamer and pay the insurance.

itsme_drnick

The state isnā€™t forcing you to drive. Itā€™s a privilege. You out other peopleā€™s livelihoods at stake when you drive without insurance. Of course it would better if decent insurance was cheaper but it should still be illegal to drive without insurance. And that should be enforced.

mattrobi3

Not having insurance is more expensive than having insurance. Because if you pay your insurance premiums and get into an accident, you only have to pay your deductible. But if you are uninsured, then you are paying to fix your car and the one you hit along with any medical bills. If you canā€™t afford the insurance, then you definitely canā€™t afford that, which means you canā€™t afford to drive. Sad but true. Why should I be on the hook when you hit my car because you couldnā€™t afford to drive?

punkcart

Well, yeah I think most people follow you, maybe that *should* be how people think but people and things often don't do as others might imagine they *should*. Some people are more reckless than others for sure, but when you have something happening on a large scale like this we need to be asking more questions about the environment producing that choice. Bottom line is when people are strapped for cash and looking for non essentials to cut from their budget, too many people decide insurance is too much but continuing to drive without it is worth the risk. It's surprisingly a rational decision when you think about it. Especially for people who have trouble evaluating risk, which is a hard thing for everyone to do on some level. Some people's gut reaction might be to turn up the heat, deter them with higher criminal consequences, but that shit doesn't work. No amount of steep future abstract consequences is going to light a bigger fire under people's asses than the immediate consequences they're trying to avoid in the first place by taking the risk. Our shitty planning and transportation options are at the root of this. God help us all if we don't fix that

No_Mission5618

A dude hit me last month on the 23rd and caused me to hit a pole, and tap another car. Come to find out he has no bodily injury protection, and his policy limit is 10k. They valued my car alone at 9,696 dollars. But guess what ? I canā€™t get the full value for my car because dude has a policy limit of 10k, and money form his policy has to also go to fix the light pole, and the other car. And I donā€™t have uninsured motorist on my car insurance. So now, theyā€™re going to give me probably less than half of what my car is actually valued at and they know Iā€™m not going to accept it and I will have to take it to court. Underinsured drivers are just as bad as non insured. If youā€™re underinsured you better follow driving rules to the text book to ensure you donā€™t cause a bad accident.

Youknowme911

I feel youā€¦ my last accident was with a guy with expired Estrella insurance. Luckily I had uninsured with State Farm and got my car fixed .

Imadreamer1226

People....uninsured motorist coverage does not fix vehicles in Florida. Its strictly for injuries. Collision fixes your own vehicles.

Hysteria113

Most people will settle for the payout, your situation is pretty rare in that you had a multi car collision and property damage.

Fallacy_Spotted

Just because the insurance won't cover the damages doesn't mean the person is no longer liable for them. Sue the guy and get his wages garnished. Small claims is up to 8k and is only a few hoops.

frankenfine305

I just had my car totaled by a dude with no insurance a month ago. In a few days he's gonna be getting a letter from my attorney suing him personally for all the damages to my vehicle and my healthcare costs. Does he have 40k? Maybe not, but I bet you the lien he has until he pays it off makes him reconsider driving around with no insurance again. Do what you will with that information

Imadreamer1226

No attorney is going to take your case to sue some uninsured poor mofo. Lol. It sucks. That's why you have insurance.

hey_hey_hey_nike

Bless your heart.

MannyArce

How did you manage to find a lawyer that would take your case to trial if there was no insurance coverage? Are you paying out of pocket? If there's no insurance, lawyers usually drop the case as there's likely no way to collect.

EvaUnit24

Can't they garnish his wages to collect the money?

MannyArce

Yes, theoretically. But what lawyer wants to do all that work, and then get paid a few bucks a month for the rest of eternity. Slim chances any would be willing. Plus - taking a case to court costs the lawyer a decent chunk of change up front (that he then collects from the settlement proceeds).

Hysteria113

The lawyer will do research on assets and if he owns a home you can put a lien on the property. This would all payout at once I believe. Otherwise dude probably paid a retainer because he wants vengeance. I would do the same if that happened to me. Wouldnā€™t even be about the money it would be about fucking the other person in the ass so hard they have to deal with it for years to come.

Bubbycannon69

Homestead Exemption in Florida prevents liens from being put on your main property if you get sued. Regardless I highly doubt OP owns any properties here in Florida.

frankenfine305

This is the correct answer

apbt-dad

Maybe the judge will order him to be your butler.

southmost956

Is this customary in your country? Please have an orange.

St_BobbyBarbarian

He could become the guyā€™s pimp, and make him do onlyfans and get a cut. Muy MiamiĀ

rozhenitsa

If that guy was driving with no insurance, I really doubt that he has any assets that they can put a lien on. Even if he miraculously owns his home, if itā€™s his only home, thereā€™s nothing that can be done. Also, I donā€™t see how any PI lawyer would take a case with no insurance. Just filing a Complaint and serving the defendant is almost a grand- and this is before attorney time, paying for medical records and bills, paying for a crash report, etc. I would cut my losses if youā€™re paying for this lawyer out of pocket. source: I work in PI. Asset searches on uninsured drivers yield nothing 99.9999% of the time. We work on contingency, so at least at my firm, pursuing cases like this is never worth it. Also. getting a case into litigation is expensive. A letter sent during prelitigation will do nothing if heā€™s uninsured.

principium_est

I use USAA. It's not super cheap because it's South Florida and South Florida is full of jerks like you driving around like maniacs without insurance.

PersimmonAcrobatic71

"I don't understand why insurance rates are so high" - Person who is driving around without a license and insurance. By brother in christ you are the "We're All Trying To Find The Guy Who Did This" hot dog meme in real life

Growthiswhatmatters

You think driving in a suspended license has nothing to do with it..

loopygyal

How would they know though? For all they know he's out of the country and someone else is using his car...

ponchoacademy

They know, cause they can check to see when you last had insurance. Theres records of everything. I didnt have a car at all for the past 5 years, and still when I got my van, my rate was higher reason given of 6+mth lapse in insurance. Now that doesnt make sense at all.

gwizonedam

How do they know? Look at insurance rates in Miami.

Growthiswhatmatters

Youd be suprised how many ā€œcreditā€ reports exist. They can also see when you were last insured.

Apocalypsezz

My brother in christ, with all due respect, you will never be able to compare insurance rates apples to apples with others due to the nature of how these rates are calculated. Some factors include: Job Title, Time Employed, Daily Commute, Type of vehicle (work, personal, recreation), Credit History, Driving History, etc... It's also worth noting the longer you go without insurance, the higher your rates will be when you finally do acquire insurance. As for me, i'm currently paying $312 a month for a 2021 Kia K5. I do have an accident on record that is 100% my fault. 24 y/o, good credit, above 65k salary, and in the kendall area if that helps. The alternatives? E-Bike everywhere.

Growthiswhatmatters

Damn. Im paying 160 for 100/100. Loyalty pays

SmarterThanCornPop

Heā€™s a 24 year old male, his rates will be expensive no matter what

Apocalypsezz

If only I got fucked this often by women instead of insurance

NorbertIsAngry

No, loyalty does not pay anymore. I was with GEICO for 20 years. No tickets, no accidents, multiple cars. In the last few years they just rocketed the price way up, with the same excuse that it was just normal increases, yadda yadda. I switched to Progressive because for the exact same coverage limits they were $1,000 less over 6 months. I gave GEICO a chance to match it and they told me they couldnā€™t. So now Iā€™m with Progressive. When they start to screw me Iā€™ll switch to someone else.

shamu132002

This is the way

heyblendrhead

Basically same thing for me; with GEICO for years, price doubled over a few years for no reason, just switched to Progressive for almost 50% less.

thirstposting69

Interesting I just switched from Progressive to Geico and saved about 40%. Whenever I see an increase of more than 10% on a renewal I shop around for better deals

rock4103

Sam here, I had usaa and went with progressive. Now, they are raising my policy, 400 for the last renewal. I pay the policy upfront to save that way as no there INS does this. Next month may is the renewal I bet you anything you want they will raise my rate another 400. I also have very clean record.

pompanoJ

Same. I pay more for my two cars than for my house with wind and flood. A lot more.

Hysteria113

Loyalty doesnā€™t pay with insurance they offer great intro rates and then jack up your price after that.

carsandgrammar

Just left Progressive after over a decade. Have a commercial policy that costs $10k/yr, as well as a personal policy. They raised my rate over $600/6 mo, so I switched to State Farm.

technicolorvision777

What company tho and whatā€™s your location

technicolorvision777

Iā€™m ebiking everywhere. itā€™s a great bike. No Latina central tho šŸ¤·insurance is a necessary evil. But Iā€™ll give you a tip. If somehow you got a quote in say a different zip code this you would most likely get a much different quote. But at the end of the day itā€™s at least 1.2k per year. You ainā€™t gonna do no better than that. And itā€™s probably gonna be more. Yeah bro I feel like it doesnā€™t make sense to have a car if you are living non traditionally. I ride with friends, Uber and Lyft when I am not ebiking.

Apocalypsezz

Using a zip code outside of your home address wouldnt work, and ontop of that if it does, and they find out youā€™re not living there full time (unlikely they probe but if they do) youā€™ll likely get in trouble with them and theyā€™ll definitely raise your rates. If the company wants to be a dick they can come at you for car insurance fraud. (Lying about your zip code does in fact count)

kawasaki500

This is the way.

bla8291

E-bikes are great!

technicolorvision777

Love my ebike so much I have a stealth bomber if you familiar Fooking fast. Feels like Iā€™m hacking the matrix. Limiting my expenses. But again. No latinas

Satanikkkal666

325 bucks for a C max hybrid, 2018. Never hand an accident, never had a ticket, and I have been driving since 2009ā€¦ jesus christ

grammar_fixer_2

How do you figure out what Job Title helps you the most? šŸ˜‰

Lillyquoi

Itā€™s not true. They donā€™t consider job title etc. Iā€™m an insurance agent and whoever wrote that doesnā€™t know what they are taking about. Maybe it was satire

TheTimeIsNowOk

Wtf? My wife and I pay $360/mo and we have a Lexus TX 2024 and a Honda Accord 2019ā€¦ thatā€™s a terrible rate isnā€™t it?

Aimlessly_existing

I learned that the hard way. Didnā€™t get my own insurance till almost 33. On a 2015 Camry and I started paying 400 a month. Slowly getting it Lower tho.

kittyypawzz

Get a motorcycle, Iā€™m not even trying to be funny

WizTis

ā˜ļø

ReasonableJello

Wait how are you renewing your tags if you donā€™t have insurance?

Only_Ad3475

The state will always take your money lol. You have to have tags or you will get towed if youā€™re parked on the street or in an apartment complex

ReasonableJello

Right but you need insurance to renew your tags

Only_Ad3475

They will insure you they just wont cover it when you get in an accident

Mediocre-Mistake-233

I would bet money this dirt bagā€™s tags are expired too

MoonLandingLady

car insurance here is awful and its due to so many cases, accidents, fraud and so many uninsured people driving and driving terribly. It was nearly double than what I paid up north....

HighEngineVibrations

No fault state also plays into it. As well as Republicans bending over for insurance companies in the State

DickySchmidt33

(Fill In The Blank) in Miami is a fraud.

yunghellenic

I pay 159 a month for a 2020 Honda HRV

intlmbaguy

This post is so Miami.

frooglesmoogle123

You could probably find something for under $300 when your suspended license goes back to normal

Suckmyflats

Windhaven was so cheap because they didn't actually fix people's cars. Remember what happened to them?

etheroaway

Bus

skyHawk3613

No alternatives

FeistyAdeptness2483

Try local statefarm offices, they give lower rates.

Growthiswhatmatters

Statefarm wont unless your income is high. Thats their target market. He needa to go to an agency that covers people with sub prime credit etc.

FeistyAdeptness2483

I have no credit history and got a good deal with statefarm.

Growthiswhatmatters

Everyone has some form of credit history believe it or not. Insurance does not use the same report as you are thinking

SmarterThanCornPop

You can thank all of the uninsured drivers and car thieves for that.

Blackbeards-delights

Not living in Miamiā€¦ No provider is going to be affordable if have your place of residence in Miami

DiplomaticCaper

Yeah, after moving to Broward my rates went down significantly. Granted, that may also be possibly due to my most recent accident being further in the past (and not getting into other auto-related trouble since).

OrenoKachida2

Broward is bad too

CurbsEnthusiasm

As a Broward resident my rates have gone up as Miami residents have moved here. Do we all just keep moving north?!

Accomplished-Coast63

Call Estrella Insurance. There is no reason you should be paying more in insurance than comprehensive coverage on my brand new Tesla. Avoid the big name insurers unless you have a newer car.

Mr_Unbiased

It's not a fraud. It's literally unprofitable to offer affordable insurance with the frequency that people are crashing their cars in Miami. Blame the drivers in the city not the insurance companies!

bla8291

Also blame the state for handing out licenses like candy and having lax enforcement.

comradecaptainplanet

Look into Staybull Insurance brokers. They got me a great competitive rate as a high-risk driver (multiple accidents, a suspension, and a lapse in insurance) for $225/mo with Bristol West compared to $450 at Geico before they dropped me. If you want to fix this problem, do minimum coverage instead of nothing. Choosing between comprehensive & nothing is just going to extend the period during which you were uninsured & hike your rates higher. That being said, Miami has some of the highest car insurance rates (I think #2, after Detroit?) in the country.

allseeingike

I got progressive and i pay 50 a month. Its the cheapest option i could find

mosesstickbush

Go to diaryland. They donā€™t like to pay but they cheap

Mediocre-Mistake-233

Do you know that you will be arrested on the spot if you get pulled over ? Suspended license? No insurance? I bet your plate is expired too. The cop will have no mercy on you. Driving is a privilege not a right. Get off the road!

WizTis

You're not wrong. I got pulled over twice with no ins and sus license. It's all luck I didn't get arrested. Got my car towed though

Friendly-Papaya1135

You are the reason the rates keep skyrocketing. The insurance companies will get theirs by raising rates and the honest will suffer. This is NOT how you stick it to the man.

OrenoKachida2

It is absolutely a fraud. My last policy (for my little 2015 Hyundai) charged almost $400 for no rental coverage, and a $1000 deductible. So not only is it not safe to drive here with all of the floods, traffic, and reckless drivers, but it will cost you a fortune if you damage your car in any way.

Proof_Bandicoot_373

Yā€™all want latinas in latina central. Ya gotta pay up

PakLivTO

Uninsured drivers should get jail time and mandatory wages garnished for damage caused

GluckGoddess

HOW are they going to have wages that can be garnished if they go to jail and lose their jobs? Just perpetuating a cycle of poverty.

[deleted]

Migrated? Is this a bird sub?? You immigrated

Any_Actuator7530

Progressive

SoFloFella50

The people who drive around here without insurance and the lack of enforcement is why I am forced to carry uninsured drivers insurance. I canā€™t fucking wait to move out of this state.

Top-Imagination4802

Insurance definitions Remember here in Florida other driver's are not required to cover your pain, if a driver without insurance hurts you - you have your state health insuranceĀ + mandatory PIP (personal injury protection) for $10,000 with a $1,000 deductible. If you have uninsured motorist coverage you always have to first use and exhaust your PIP in order to activate it. In Florida there is no Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist coverage for physical damage to your vehicle so you would have the option to use your collisionĀ coverage and activate it by paying the applicable deductible. ā€”ā€”- If you do not have this coverage on your auto policy and you have Ā NOT AT FAULT Accident and other driver has no insurance or not enough to pay you hospital bills, You have $10,000 PIP 1st and it is it not enough it will be your Health insurance, if not, you will pay of your own pocket. Ā  If you have UMĀ  Your company will pay all expenses after $10,000 up to your UM Ā coverage. Ā  UM is for YOU not you car

SoFloFella50

Uh huh. This has nothing to do with the lax enforcement.

Sufficient-Let-3013

donā€™t drive

Ngenark

Auto insurance is crazy expensive here because of the high number of people driving around without insurance. It's almost double what I was paying in California, because everyone else here is trying to skirt by and get lucky... If you don't use the car enough to justify the price, then just take Ubers.

Odd-Condition7752

Your rates will be way higher because you went without insurance. There was some confusion with my insurance when I traded in a new car. Their system showed I had a car with no insurance (the one I traded) and as a result of having a period with a lapse in insurance, it made my rates go higher.

Keyrat000

Auto insurance anywhere is a fraud. But weve accepted it and so it wont change

unsignedintegrator

Alternative is become one of the scooter squad.

Tailfish1

You are lucky the Highway Patrol hasnā€™t pulled your tag.

Status-Load-5521

Brother, time to call up the general.

Status-Load-5521

For a great low rate you can get online, go to the general and save some time!

ExaminationLimp4097

I would just ditch having a car and get an e bike or scooter and use the metro rail. They allow bikes and stand up scooters on there. Youā€™ll save so much money and headaches.

Cold-Insurance7472

You're part of the reason insurance is so high. All the uninsured drivers are a big part of prices aside from the greed of insurance companies

dannyboysouth83

Like I tell most people you donā€™t go to Miami for the money or cost savings, you go there for the location and inflation. Lol but I believe auto insurances is high everywhere.

Imadreamer1226

You get what you pay for. We all pay high insurance prices. You want cheap? Move to the middle of Kansas.

Miami is one of the most expensive cities if not THE for Auto Insurance. The factors can be debated endlessly and nothing will change until everyone just quits insurance altogether. Almost like home insurances are pulling out of FL due to risk we should do the same to insurance companies. Because remember when youā€™re in an accident and the other driver is at fault, but itā€™s the same insurance company, good luck. Progressive $850 Full Coverage paid 6 Mo at a time in advance. 37M Not married but kids Renter Driving and personal record so clean, cops bring sniffer dogs over every time and are on edge when running ID. One day, everything is going to be a subscription .

victorp29

I was involved in a 6 car accident on i95 in September 2022, I have been fighting with AllState insurance all this time, the only solution they give me is to make a claim with my insurance and they would pay me a percentage of the deductible because the person responsible for the accident only have 60k in her policy and only one car took 40k, but For me it is not an option because I pay $120 a month for my insurance, if I make the claim my insurance will go through the roof, I spoke with some lawyers but it is not worth it and they do not want to take the case, my car is drivable, (Toyota Corolla 2018) it was rear-ended, bumber, taillight and trunk got damaged, I started fixing it myself because I don't want to trigger anything with my insurance that makes my rates skyrocketing.

jmw7119

Itā€™s not just MDC but all of South Florida. Iā€™m on this sub because I worked in MIA for years but I live west of 95 in Plantation, have no claims or tickets and my insurance is much higher than a few years ago. As others have said, shop around. I did Progressive & Geico and am now with another solid company but loyalty is out the window

Hysteria113

You never did anything wrong but somehow your license is suspended. Imma go with you need to look yourself in the mirror and tell yourself the truth. I drive a V8 Dodge Challenger and pay $220 a month.

Slyy24

Put an address in Ft Lauderdale and check the price

BowDown2No1ButCrypto

Miami is a FRAUD lol

DeceptiStang

Lmao this guy is returning to jamaica apparently, you are part of the problem with high rates in FL. Sounds like you just canā€™t afford it

Infiltra

Why insurance companies skyrocketing their prices? Hmmm. Let's take a look. At seems that we have a lot more people without insurance on the roads driving in florida . That why insurance companies put this burden on us - fellow legally responsible drivers.

lovethefunds

Moral of the story: Weā€™re all paying jacked up rates in south florida because of irresponsible people like this OP.

Dilettantest

Youā€™re being quoted higher rates because youā€™ve shown yourself to be unreliable in a way insurance companies translate as a risky bet. Wait any longer any you may find yourself uninsurable.

swflcuckold

People in Miami have auto insurance? Who would have guessed.

SigmundFraud777

Itā€™s an actual scam. Only been in 2 accidents since Iā€™ve been driving (2017) both while I was in a parking lot and neither my fault lol literally was hit while parked for the first one. No tickets no claims. My insurance has never been below $350 when I was in college I couldnā€™t find anything below $400. I went with a smaller company this year and Iā€™m paying $366 for a damn Corolla and Iā€™m turning 26 soon. Idk if itā€™s personal but Iā€™ve lived in Orlando, Pembroke Pines, and Miami and the rates are all the same.

kawasaki500

I remember when I was working and driving from Kendall to South Beach on my motorcycle I did not have to pay for insurance and gas was amazing.

ksmith9416

Welcome to Florida. Auto insurance has skyrocketed because there are so many more drivers here post COVID, meaning more and more accidents. Then there are folks like YOU driving without insurance that make uninsured motorist go up.

maningarden

Insurance is one of the biggest things to go up in price the last couple of years. Mine has nearly doubled. Itā€™s insane.
