My dad says “ Me-lahms” the way I say “Tar-jay”

I moved here 20 years ago and I met a guy back then who grew up here and insisted it was Me-lahms. Emphasis on the lahms. I thought he was crazy. Heard someone else say Me-lahms again yesterday—no snark. Serious about it. Made me question myself and think back to that dude.

My dad has said directly to the guy “Hi Mr Me-Lahms” and he didn’t give a wtf look. So I questioned it myself

I just called them. lol. The recording says My-lams.
