Who tf is writing these and who actually reads them? Rage bait is so stupid

Ryoujin

AI writes them and AI reads them

GregBuckingham

That’s so disheartening. Especially considering it’s gonna mislead so many people

Ryoujin

You should check out this theory called dead internet theory.

Commercial_Beach_231

Is it called like that because it is used by boomers?

Orchid_Significant

I believe this more every time I try to search anything these days. Once upon a time, the algorithm brought back things relevant to what you searched. Now it’s tons of unrelated nonsense for like 2-4 pages before you find anything you need.

Ryoujin

QuercusSambucus

How old do they think Millennials are? They probably think they're 18 still.

UnremarkableGreyman

We're all in our late teens/early twenties to them (GenX here). Gotta have someone to blame I guess.

vetratten

Hey to be fair in my mind as an elder millennial, I’m still 20 and you Gen Xers are still 30. What? I’m 40? No that can’t be right

jaaaaayke

the 70's were only 30 years ago.

Orchid_Significant

I just told someone the 80s were 20 years ago, not almost 50 🤣

Fit-Property3774

A lot of boomers eat rage bait up

GregBuckingham

Looks like OP ate it up too. Took the time to reshare it lol

T34Chihuahua

Darker possibilities? I suddenly have a great horror movie idea!

ConundrumMachine

Ok youngster, you help me with the Tiks and the Toks and I'll help you, how do you say it?... "Crush" your gramps in Bridge.

White_Grunt

Married cougars going after millennials

Jscott1986

![gif](giphy|3o7WTqo27pLRYxRtg4)

Oohhhboyhowdy

Yes….yes! The hook is we ritualistically sacrifice the boomers so we may have the freshest avocado on our toast (Dr. Evil maniacal laughter here).

T34Chihuahua

Finally someone got it right! Think about this here's the movie pitch...a non profit proclaiming to offer cruises to repair broken families caused by the evil millennials who never call their boomer relatives brings these people onto the cruise, the boomers who are the super exceptional do no wrong common sense having protagonists are then attacked by the evil selfish millennials who are maniacally emotional and cannot take a joke start murdering the boomers to free up the housing market, furthermore they secretly run the non profit for this exact reason. It's all uncovered by some has been boomer actor doing their best moronic Clint Eastwood impersonation. Lights camera action!

ThermostatEnforcer

sex

CrowExcellent2365

You'd think a worldwide pandemic would have done that already, but I saw an interview recently where someone who works on a cruise ship explained that when too many passengers died during a cruise, they would have an unplanned ice cream social to empty out the freezer to make more room for storing bodies.

Orion14159

That's darkly hilarious

buntopolis

Fuck, man, what do you do? The show must go on.

silk_road_grimm

You host a surprise all-pork buffet night

starwestsky

Goddamn! Who was captain of that ship? Lucille Bluth?

Orchid_Significant

I’m sorry but WHAT

costebk08

lol I went on a cruise recently filled to the brim with boomers. Our fellow millennials were BY FAR the most consistently courteous guests on the ship. The boomers were collectively generally awful, rude, and behaving in the “entitled” way they love to gaslight project and tell millennials they are engaging in.

drugdeal777

May I know which cruise line so I can avoid it? I wanna go on a cruise soon but I don’t wanna go embark on a nursing home

costebk08

Royal Caribbean but I am sure it’s pretty ubiquitous

Creative-Till1436

Omg a friend of mine recently just got off a RC voyage and said the same! She booked in some kind of high-tier cabin and had older people (fellow passengers) asking to see her credentials and making shitty comments about how she couldn't *possibly* have been there rightfully.

costebk08

Yep I experienced stuff like that too. My gf is a young looking 29 and they’d constantly ask if she was old enough to drink (also implying I am a creeper), and the boomer stare is all too real. And why I have 0 issue calling out RC specifically is because the staff enabled the boomers and their nonsense by constantly giving them speedier or better service than us.

StormerSage

>by constantly giving them speedier or better service than us Well, after years of "the customer is always right" and teaching them that being a total Karen gets them their way, thus reinforcing that their behavior is acceptable... It's gonna keep happening.

drugdeal777

LMAO I wonder what they’ll say to me How I look: Healthcare professional, clean cut, male, often mistaken as Mexican

stanley2-bricks

There is zero chance they'll believe you're not a bus boy.

Orion14159

"feel free to tell security"

drugdeal777

GODDAMNIT

consolelog_a11y

It's the same on Carnival (despite usually marketed to families, particularly those with young kids). So unless you find some sort of "20s-40s only" cruise line, I think you're just gunna have to deal with old timers cutting in line at the buffet and hogging all of the good loungers.

costebk08

Haha

harryronhermi0ne

Avoid Holland America. It’s the epitome of old timers on a cruise. I’m not joking, when I went the “night life” activities were all done between 9:00pm - 10:00pm.

Balfoneus

I recently went on my first ever cruise this year and decided to sail on Virgin Voyages. It is adults only (truly no kids) and skews towards the millennial population for passengers. It does not have all the amenities like water slides or go carts like what you would find on a Royal Caribbean ship, but I was still able to find enjoyment throughout the ship for my 7 days. I already have my 2025 cruise booked with Virgin and waiting for the 2026 itinerary to drop so I can book my third.

colorsnumberswords

Cruise ships should be banned. From labor rights to the incredible environmental destruction, with emissions higher than flying, it’s an appalling pastime.

pinkradar

I just wrote a post in the RC sub about my experience last week on Harmony with old people ordering drinks from me thinking I was a crew member, one lady ran over my foot in her wheel chair and acting like I was the asshole, a old couple demanding to see my card to verify if I had access to the diamond lounge... it was a really bizarre experience!

costebk08

Read your post, I too wrote a post about boomer behavior on a somewhat recent cruise. Crazy how universal the boomer cruise behaviors are.

MonKeePuzzle

Millenials, some of whom are in there 40s, are doing things people in their 40s have done in the past; cruises, golf clubs, etc.

DJ_SLUSH

I've been living like I'm in my 50s now for 10 years. I'm 36.

Soren_Camus1905

Or darker possibilities? What are they implying? We’re going to begin killing senior citizens on cruise ships?

legsjohnson

That's what I got from it. Honestly WSJ knows nothing about millennials. When I go boomer hunting I prefer a more challenging, naturalistic setting. A cruise ship would take all the fun out of it, like shooting fish in a barrel.

starwestsky

We will shed our vaccines on them. /s

Historical_Shop_3315

Last two paragraphs... "Let’s just say ocean cruises offer a wonderful opportunity for millennials and Gen Xers to even up the generational score. There you are, out on the Lido Deck, all set to enjoy the Aurora Borealis, when without warning some vindictive millennial gives you a little nudge in the back. Splish! Splash! Man overboard!" "Do I honestly think millennials would do such a cruel and devious thing? Well, I could hardly blame them. That’s why I’m keeping my eyes peeled for an all-expenses-paid family cruise invitation from my kids. I love you guys, but I don’t trust you."

Orchid_Significant

JFC. Boomers are already paranoid enough.

10RobotGangbang

I have zero desire to ever go on a cruise. I'll stick to flying to the beach.

ImperatorRomanum83

Yeah I'm a fly in, check in to my resort, unpack, head to the beach guy. I wake up at 5am at resorts and basically do the same thing every day. My partner keeps asking about going on a cruise, and the thought of having to do all that extra work to see the beach at each port just really turns me off to the entire idea.

Delicious_Tea3999

This is such a microcosm of the Boomer mindset. When they were raising families, cruises were for families. Now that they’re old, cruises are supposed to be only for the old and they resent the presence of anyone younger than ancient. They just love throwing away the ladder behind them

Orchid_Significant

The mindset is that everything is for them and no one else

angrybox1842

What's the actual story here? Boomers who don't like millennials on land also don't like them at sea?

[deleted]

Who can afford to take a cruise?

0000110011

Better question is who wants to go on one? It's basically a petri dish of diseases with a bunch of strangers for a week.

[deleted]

I enjoy boating, but yeah have no desire to be on a floating hotel with a few thousand other people.

Sweaty_Process_3794

Yo my parents and I went on a cruise when I was 12, so like 2004. The food (which my mom was hyped about for months beforehand) was disgusting, there was nothing for someone in my age group at the time to do, I got sick with some kind of horrible sore throat illness the whole time, and we could not find ANY otc medications on the whole ship. Not an overall terrible experience but disappointing in many ways

lopsiness

I enjoyed going on a cruise in my early 20s with a bunch of other people from college. We had a good time, and got to experience being on the ship and seeing other countries. But, a big part of it was meeting other people in their 20s that were cool and did a shit load of drinking that I couldn't maintain now. I don't regret it, but wouldn't want to do it again.

ShallotParking5075

That explains why the boomers don’t want millennials on their cruises; the only millennials they’d end up with would be the most affluent and most ignorant, the least bearable portion of any demographic 😂

heyvictimstopcryin

Lots of ppl

greendeadredemption2

I mean cruises as a whole are pretty inexpensive vacations and all encompassing. As vacations go they’re a pretty good deal especially if you live nearby where they dock and don’t have to fly or don’t have to fly far.

yaoz889

Cruises are fairly cheap for the value they provide. Since lodging is taken care of and you usually go to a couple travel destinations.

TraditionPast4295

Us evil millennials are at it again!

SnaxHeadroom

Cruises should probably die off Like, economically, ethically, and environmentally

mrk_is_pistol

Lmfao is this satire? “Hmmm yes assemble fellow Millennials, together we will slowly dismantle this ancient vessel”

BellaBlue06

I don’t want to cruise at all. Cruise ships just dump their waste straight into the ocean. Sharks and other creatures follow them for a reason. They’re terrible for the environment. In international waters you don’t have much protection from crime prevention or prosecution. Many people get robbed or SA’d on cruise ships. Despite cameras everywhere the cruise lines are not your friend and only protect their bottom line. Staff can easily walk into your room if they want to while you’re there or not. Cruise ships are damaging to many of the ports they stop in. Especially places that can’t handle the sheer number of tourists that get off of them. Massive influx of people every day putting strain on locals trying to live that don’t want to deal with the tourism industry. Bland Buffet food, drinking, and being judged and glared at by geriatric lifelong cruisers? No thanks. My husband’s parents cruise constantly and their boomers and they feel too young to hang out with most people. There’s lineups of motorized scooters everywhere and a lot of the very elderly never leave the ship and they see them everywhere. Many are rude to staff and treat them like servants. I’d also love to not contract Norovirus regularly. And I watched everyone on the Diamond Princess get covid and be quarantined and cranky after.

49999452

If DFW heard that sharks follow cruise ships because of the waste they drop, he'd get even more terrified and fascinated than he already was, and he might not feel the need to bait them with kitchen leftovers.

kwagmire9764

Never been on a cruise, don't want to go on a cruise.

burritoman88

The cruise ship industry deserves to die though.

zhaoz

"Hey, lets pack you into a small sardine can and share germs with strangers for a week at a time. Oh and you pay a lot for it too. Oh, plus it is really bad for the environement" No thanks!

torako

usually we "kill" things by not spending money on them, now it's the opposite apparently? is there anything we can do that isn't "killing" some industry?

gilgobeachslayer

I’ve done cruises before and enjoyed them, though I understand a lot of people hate them. Virus outbreaks do happen but are extremely rare. It’s a very relaxed way of traveling. Of course if I had to fly the initial port it would defeat the entire purpose

p_rex

I didn’t know we all looked like Archie.

spicycupcakes-

Fuck cruise ships and their entire industry

IGetBoredSometimes23

I won't go on any of those, especially after Covid.

IMendicantBias

Are the " darker possibilities " grammy fucking the pool boy? Like what in the hell are we supposed to infer

NelsonBannedela

Believe it or not, cannibalism

ShitBagTomatoNose

Queennan actually wrote a great book back in the day called “Red Lobster, White Trash, Blue Lagoon” where he set out to crap all over pop culture and then discovered he actually liked a lot of things he was hoping he would hate. Red Lobster is actually pretty tasty. The musical “Cats” surprisingly didn’t suck. In the book he coined the term [Scheissenbedaurn](https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Scheissenbedaurn), literally “shit regret.” The disappointment one feels when something expected to be terrible is actually good.

MLXIII

Cruising is cheaper than a mortgage...

Chuckobofish123

Millennial here. My wife and I took a cruise to the Bahamas a few years ago. Def want to cruise more often.

colorsnumberswords

How much were the workers paid?

Chuckobofish123

I don’t usually ask ppl how much they are getting paid. Lol

colorsnumberswords

the labor exploitation on cruise ships is horrifying, along with rampant sexual assaults, and environmental destruction. they should be illegal https://www.businessinsider.com/why-its-nearly-impossible-for-cruise-workers-to-sue-employers-2019-11?op=1

Chuckobofish123

Those are problems associated with most large scale corporate operations. I’m just a consumer. I’m not concerned with business politics.

colorsnumberswords

US based corporate operations are beholden to labor laws, while cruise ships register in different countries. Instead of whataboutism, reconsider who your choices harm as “just a consumer”

Chuckobofish123

Look brother, I just don’t have time to ponder those types of things. I have a salary job in an ever changing tech community that I have to innovate and receive constant training, a wife, and two school age children. I use the money that I make to enjoy my time on this earth with my family. That’s it. I’m sorry that you’re stressed out by it though. Good luck.

EspressoDrinker99

I don’t see anything wrong with this. This is the way of the world.

Worldisoyster

They can f****** have that s***.

somerandomguyanon

Is this even a real article? I’m a subscriber and I tried to Google it and I can’t find anything by the same name.

drugdeal777

https://www.wsj.com/articles/i-wont-be-going-on-any-cruise-ship-with-millennials-d33cd1ce

relevantusername2020

ngl pretty sure theyre just blatantly shitposting at this point edit: this is like a year old lol

ChipLocal8431

Imagine going on a cruise and find out some weird boomer nudist swinger thing.

drugdeal777

🤢 🤮 😷

UnremarkableGreyman

MILLENIALS! RUN EVERYONE!!! God, boomers and boomer-thinkers just need to stfu.

Ok-Plastic-2992

Anyone who enjoys good humor should check out David Foster Wallace’s “A supposedly fun thing I’ll never do again” about going on a Caribbean cruise. I have never had any desire to go on a cruise at all, but commercials for Disney cruises are always on when my 4 year old watches Bubble Guppies and the other day I caught myself thinking I could really enjoy that right now.

mechanical_marten

Look. I spent 6 years aboard a ship often times on the other side of the world, cruises are the last thing on my mind.

InkedDemocrat

Cruises are for the elderly as its cheaper then a nursing home . No Millennials care about those lol

ionbear1

Anyone who is wondering who Joe Queenan is, just picture a douchebag who wears a turtleneck.

lizimajig

And we will continue to kill until our demands are met.

ShrimpieAC

I’m so tired

Joebebs

I LOVED going to cruise ships until I was like 17-18ish, but now Cruise ships make me feel weird and I cannot explain why. I think I’d only go again if I have a giant group of friends going, I don’t think I could ever go solo. I wouldn’t even be phased if cruise ships ceased to exist entirely, it’s horrible for the environment

Orchid_Significant

The idea of being stuck on a giant floating hotel freaks me out

Soft_Welcome_5621

Honestly good

Longjumping-Cat-9207

Maaaaan, guys let’s at least all ride the Disney cruise first

devilsproud666

Apparently Millennials kill every industry. Would be funny if we were to actually start killing industries.

A_Stones_throw

Soooooo what you are saying is.if you realize I am take a cruise then you will hop off the ship either before we get under way or mid journey? Challenge accepted.

finalstation

The only cruise I would consider is a gay cruise, but really I would rather just go to a gay campground or something else.

FafnerTheBear

In a world where intergenerational socializing on cruise ships happen. It leads to.... Darker Possibilities Millianals kill again....

Its_Helios

I usually just have really fun conversations with Boomers on cruises or I’m just enjoying my time without speaking to others beside the occasional hello

[deleted]

I’m never going on a cruise again. I was dragged on a few by my parents, but no more.

Quiet_Fan_7008

There’s cruise lines that cater to younger crowds, families, and older generation. There’s cruise lines like NCL that cater to EVERYONE. Mixed crowd. Heck MSC is so mixed they have like 10 different languages on the announcements. What an insane article…

TDFknFartBalloon

Anyone have a link to work around the paywall? I want to see why this boomer is on about.

Earlfillmore

Jokes on them, ill gladly get drunk and listen to uncle andy talk about laying hate on charlie, ill even hug him when he starts crying.

andoCalrissiano

I LOVE cruising though. What’s not to like. Three meals in a nice restaurant + transportation + lodging.

kkkan2020

Cruise ships will be around for a long time

Similar_Excuse01

Millennials want to take cruise??
