McSkrong

I know a Buzzfeed prompt when I see one. We’re all going to end up on one of their lists.

dontblinkdalek

I actually started going to Reddit when I realized how many listicles on buzzfeed are answers from Reddit. Decided to skip the middleman and go straight to the source.

nycblackout89

Cracked is the same thing now it’s sad

Bitter-Value-1872

I miss Cracked from the late 00s/early 10s

bigkatze

A while ago Newsweek posted an article and it was just a thread from Reddit.

Cloud_bunnyboo

Lmaoooo

LordBobTheWhale

Motherfuckers act like they forgot about Dre

Jussttjustin

Houdini has me on a wild early Eminem spree

rainingmermaids

Same! I saw some clip where some rapper (I guess? I’m old af so I don’t know who it was) was bitching about how Eminem went back to his old sound to pander to all of his old (age wise) fans and how he could never respect someone who did that blah blah blah. Idk, but 1) doesn’t seem like a bad thing to me too make something that a segment of your fans will go wild over. The nostalgia is deliberate rather than creatively bankrupt. 2) have they paid any attention to what the younger generations are into? Horror of anything bootcut aside, I find it hysterical when my 20 y.o. stepdaughter is wearing a Blink band shirt, and going to concerts of bands that were my high school and college years. Current culture is allll about early 00’s culture. Houdini is brilliant. It single handedly made my algorithm stupid with early oughts stuff.

capsaicinintheeyes

agreed:songs about the stresses of being famous, like from the Eminem Show/Encore period, were just really hard to relate to--in fact, a lack of focus on "mo' money, mo' problems" type subjects was [one of the things](https://imgur.com/a/5oUhkP2) that first made him stand out for me in the mainstream hip-hop waters of his time.

tt1101ykityar

"I done touched on everything BUT little boys. That's not a stab at Michael, that's just a metaphor I'm just psycho."

invader_holly

This song is literally on my summer playlist this year, lol

Miss_Camp

The entire Postal Service album start to finish.

StormFreak

Seeing it live in May reminded me how well that album has aged. Still so good.

Miss_Camp

I saw it live in September. They performed so well.

ThrowRAmorningdew

Maps by Yeah Yeah Yeahs

Cute-Discount-6969

I heard this at the grocery store this afternoon. Such a banger, but depressing that the yeah yeah yeahs are now grocery store music 😭

ThrowRAmorningdew

So wild we’ve finally reached the age that we enjoy the music at the market. I have to stop myself from singing at Trader Joe’s 😭

NewFuturist

"yeah yeah yeahs are now grocery store music" Off with your head!

kmckenzie256

Heads will roll!

RickHuf

Gorillaz. The whole album.

wbm0843

Clint Eastwood is probably my most listened to song of all time.

legsjohnson

Helena by MCR.

hi-nighter

Quite literally was blasting and absolutely SCREAMING it yesterday while I was driving down the road lol

tosil

Darude Sandstorm (yes I know it technically was released in 1999)

gasstationdelicasies

I have a playlist from my formative years of this genre and it gets very regular use. Basshunter, ATB, Benassi, Tiesto, Armin Van Buuren, Kaskade, Dash Berlin...

dongledangler420

WOW memories UNLOCKED. Back when I could generate my own dopamine….

Melonary

Fun fact i have the same Playlist and it's also a great way to be a fully functional adult in a frustrating world. Feeling too tired to do the dishes or clean the washroom? My old dance playlists are always here to loan me some energy.

InfiniteLawfulness25

1999 counts :)

flowers_superpowers

Work It - Missy Elliot

Jalexan

All of Daft Punk Discovery. Please don’t make me pick just one

I randomly saw them in Spain while at port in the Navy. Best fucking liberty port ever.

DisgruntledTexan

Rocked this album so hard in college

FSF87

All These Things That I've Done by The Killers. In fact, all of Hot Fuss.

Slaylorz

I got ham but I’m not a hamster

middyandterror

I got plums but I'm not a plumber

bmacmachine

I got bones but I’m not a boner.

titaniumorbit

Hot Fuss is one of my all time favourite albums. Brilliant album and I still have the CD for it

BloodyTjeul

So many bangers on this album

shaun3416

Drive - Incubus

PrivateTheatricals

I still love My Chemical Romance’s “I’m Not Okay.” I’ll rock to it every time

infjetson

That whole album aged very gracefully, it’s kind of shocking! Loved it then, and love it now.

Redleg800

I’m still on the whole 2000s pop punk scene. I embarrass the shit outta my kids with it.

246lehat135

TRUST ME

responsiblefornothin

This song was a go-to for karaoke through my mid twenties. It fell into that "middle school bop I forgot" category that was guaranteed to get the crowd involved. I felt like a king when I held the mic to the crowd for the "trust me" part. If you can hit a solid "naAAWT," I highly recommend belting it out to a bunch of boozed up yuppies.

nothanksiliketowatch

DMX Party Up (Up In Here) try it when you're low. it's a vibe.

Laeif

I have still been known to shake it like a Polaroid picture on occasion.

The_Lat_Czar

The way you move - Outkast

Stankonia6969

If I could bring back any band whose members are still alive for one more tour, it would be Outkast. Killer Mike from Run the Jewels posted a picture with Andre 3000 and Big Boi a couple weeks ago and it legitimately fucked me up. I got my hopes up and everything. My favorite duo of all time

Hot-Vegetable-2681

Came here to also say Outkast!

maryrach

Alien Ant Farm’s cover of Smooth Criminal

taRxheel

Mission-Skirt-7851

InfiniteLawfulness25

Wow that song is a vibe!

The Middle did it for my 15 year old "misunderstood" self

White_eagle32rep

1999 but Santana’s Supernatural album

perfectlyaligned

Smooth is definitely one I’ll listen to every time I come across it when I shuffle.

captkronni

“Float On” by Modest Mouse is still part of my regular rotation.

ScientificBeastMode

Dude, that whole album was so good. To this day they are my favorite band.

ChasingKayla

That was one of my favorite songs to play on Rock Band on my PS3!

scaredbutlaughing

Audioslave! Their whole self titled album from 2002 bangs HARD and Chris Cornell's voice is still unmatched to this day, IMHO ☺️

JessTheNinevite

Like A Stone is a great song!

Cosmic_Itch

Show Me How to Live is an absolute brain floss banger!!

Wespiratory

Seven Nation Army, The White Stripes Hey Ya!, OutKast Smooth, Santana ft. Rob Thomas No One Knows, Queens of the Stone Age It's Been Awhile, Staind I Am the Highway, Audioslave Mr. Brightside, The Killers

Anxious-Aerie6592

The album "I'm wide awake its morning" by bright Eyes. Ahhh and a lot of The Strokes

DisgruntledTexan

Bright eyes album is great.

HangryBeaver

Bright Eyes forever. Can’t wait for the new album this fall!

mogancheech

“Road to Joy” will now be stuck in my brain for a week. Thank you!

Only-Entertainer-573

Pretty much all of Gorillaz *Demon Days*, which came out in 2005. *Plastic Beach*, too...but that was 2010.

Lonesome_Pine

Ah, demon days is nearly 20. I'm gonna go lay down.

Dew_drop22

White Stripes Seven Nation Army, Icky Thump and Fell in Love With a Girl tbh I love all their albums. The Killers Hot Fuss and Sam’s Town The Darkness Thing Called Love

UniqueAnimal84

Can’t Get You Out of My Head by Kylie Minogue

infjetson

Padam Padam is more recent, but equally as much of a banger

UniqueAnimal84

LOVE Padam Padam!

StormFreak

What a fantastic beat that song has. Just reading this took me back to 2002

metrologica

Okay, I have two, but ["Breathe" by Télépopmusik](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kDz2Xk-LRN0) and ["One More Time" by Daft Punk](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FGBhQbmPwH8) – I'll never forget the first time watching this music video; basically my intro to anime.

Chooby-Doo

Seconded to both these songs. I'd also add Dirty Vegas-Days go by. Those commercials back then had fire music

RaisinGeneral9225

Shakira "Whenever, Wherever"

aNeverNude666

Caring is Creepy- The Shins

Will_Murray

ohreallynowz

“Gotta get thru this” - Daniel Bedingfield That opening beat gets me everytime. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b4eMyOzD9UI

jay-ace92

UncleNvte

I still like to belt this out on my commute every month lol

fraserwormie

Huge simple plan fan too!

spike_94_wl

Bring Me To Life by Evanescence

cesador

Those first two Linkin Park albums. Heard them hundreds of times. So much radio play. 20 plus years later still hit.

marblecannon512

Bingo. Both are perfect albums. Mike and Hahn are master producers

Nerak_B

Loved the collab they did with Jay Z

DinosaurDucky

The soundtrack to "Garden State" (2004 film). A few tracks from the 70s, the rest from 1998-2002 Zach Braff received a well-deserved Grammy for the compilation

Formal_Climate_7270

I was going to comment anything Zero 7, this soundtrack introduced me to them

redmasc

Speaking of Zach Braff, I love listening to the entire soundtrack of Scrubs. So many songs on there that really expanded my horizon.

246lehat135

Krista Miller, who plays Jordan on Scrubs and is Bill Lawrence’s (Scrubs Creator and showrunner) Wife, is often credited for being a big part of the music selection for the show.

redmasc

I didn't know that Jordan "Godzilla" Sullivan helped with the music selection.

LasagnaPhD

The Shins 😭💕

Career_Much

Nelly, in general

Unit_02_

Hot in, so hot in hurrrr

eclectique

Nelly is so nostalgic for me. My lovely white, Southern, jean short wearing, classic Rock loving Dad would unironically rap and sing along to him back in the day.

infjetson

Take Me Out - Franz Ferdinand

MTGBro_Josh

"Cadillac" by Mest

Help1_Slip_Frank

Wow. I have not thought of Mest in at least 20 years. Saw them a few times, always put on a good show. I recall seeing them with Yellowcard and Cooter (changes to Autopilot Off), hell of a show.
