Baggy pants is the new in, saw it at Abercrombie and Fitch

Some millennials may want to relive their youth, some can’t go back, won’t go back….
I am the latter.
I'm closer to 50 and I'm looking at buying a pair of overalls.
I rocked them in the early 90's, so why not now when I can actually appreciate their functionality?
Yes! My younger coworkers started wearing them last year and I was stoked. Bell bottoms were always the most flattering cut for me and the high waisted ones are amazing.
Also bell bottom yoga pants are hip now, which is even better!
Not even joking, I saw a group of teenagers last week and one of them was rocking them HARD. Like full JNCO barrel legs, patches on the back, wallet chain.
Could not believe my eyes. They had to be new too.
I saw someone with JNCO, or similar, a few weeks ago in Oregon. I was very surprised, but hopeful. Next up, cargo pants. I never had a use for all the pockets, but they were my jam for many years.
When Jncos gets a knock-off that isn't $200 for a pair of jeans, I'm SO fucking buying a pair! I'll roll up to the construction site in my pair of denim dresses and give the foreman a smug 'what's up' nod as I walk by.
I used to do baggy pants and long shorts below the knee myself. I’m actually happy the fashion changed. I thought I was out and they pull me back in! Well not yet.
> don’t wanna sound like a boomer but first they go back to baggy pants and now ankle socks are uncool?
Holy shit I went to the mall with my kid yesterday, and I saw these young girls, maybe teens or early 20s unsure, in like full on early 2000s attire. Low rider jeans, the butt pockets all glamed up and bejewled, one girl had "juicy" on the butt of her sweatpants. Paired with crop tops, big hoop earrings, I felt like I was transported into the past. It was wild.
I don't wanna be hearing Gen Z criticizing our fashion choices when they are willingly bringing that shit back to the forefront ok
All I wear are skinny jeans. My daughter (14) has begged me to wear some of the mold flared jeans or my boot cut jeans that are still in the closet lol 😂. I got rid of the wide pant legs long ago and kept the others in case it came back. But now I’m too fond of my leggings and I like the look of despair on my daughter’s face when I’m in dreadful skinny jeans again. I need to make sure she sees my ankle socks.
As a man with thick legs, I welcome the return of baggy pants. It’s been a rough 15-20 years or however long it’s been.
… shit how long has it been? Fuck time is a bitch
Yeahhhh-I work with some Gen z at a rehab center. They might not know it but I hear their jokes about my socks..my ballet socks they call them.
![gif](giphy|xUA7b0RgJ296MVY6C4|downsized)
From what I've gathered they are going back to the old people socks that you normally see with cargo shorts and new balance shoes.
The ones that us millennials made fun of our parents for wearing.
My old Gen X boss asked my friend(co worker at the time) "Can you please wear some fucking socks?" He then takes his shoe off to reveal he was wearing those same socks. He also wears skin tight pants that come just short of his ankles. I'm guessing that why it bothered him so much haha.
Every time I seen a teen dressed like that I always ask myself if they are the weird kid in the AV club. I've come to realize either the AV club is big these days, or that's what is popular; maybe both.
Honestly, decades from now, I think Gen Z are going to be looked at as having bad fashion sense. Like, I know every generation thinks every other generation has bad fashion, but I think Gen Z actually do.
Like, they're the cool young adults now, but once they age into their 30's and 40's, I think they're going to get memed for their fashion choices. I think a lot of it is like, looking bad on purpose to be ironic, and it's not going to age well.
Agreed. I think late 2000s and early 2010s fashion will age well, given how boring it was. The only thing that really gets memed are the emo duck-faced girls from Myspace with the caked-on makeup. Which was a small portion of teens/tweens circa 2006-09.
Yeah nothing says sexy like long socks, baggy clothes, and an alpaca haircut. If that were true, you'd see homeless people with rizz. God I hate that I just used the word rizz.
there were a bunch of young kids sitting around at the train station as I was walking past I thought they were all homeless. and then I realised they were just young adults living their lives and wearing their generations style, which made me feel old as fuck…
Lmao I had to look up wtf cheugy means 🤣. Being part of the youngest millennials suck because that means my dating pool is going to have genZ women who I won't be able to communicate with 😭I immediately have no rizz
Last time I thought about socks was maybe 4 years ago when they discontinued the type I buy. 10 minutes later I’ve found a new one and only think about them when they need to be replaced
My brothers, their wives, my spouse, and I all wear the Puma socks from Costco. If anyone takes their socks off at get togethers, it's chaos of trying to find your pair
The trend I keep seeing is guys wearing grey shorts, grey hoodie, sandals/shoes with white socks hiked way the fuck up. I'm not even that old, but when I was younger, pulling your socks up (when on display, like when wearing shorts) made you look like a dumbass. Now it's fashion?
I don't get it. It looks stupid as fuck.
Gen X, Millennials, & Zoomers: "We must unite against the Boomers!"
Boomers: "Gen Z said your socks are dumb lol"
Millennials: "Those sons of bitches! I always hated their hair, speech, and blasé references to suicide!"
I remember being shocked about a decade ago seeing teens wearing long socks like they were pasty british accountants at a hotel pool in Orlando. Now they're making fun of us?
I'd rather give up my ankle socks. I have these cargo shorts that have these pockets inside the cargo pockets that a phone fits perfectly in. They were like $20 at Costco.
Okay, in equal measure:
Why does Gen Z look like the most normie McPinkerton's this side of a 1952 suburban lawn?
To quote my mother:
“Every generation loses its first battle because you can’t afford to maintain highlights.”
She wasn’t wrong.
When I see younger kids wear stupid shit like Crocs (that we rejected upon it's initial release) and mid calf length socks they look to me like how my Dad looked in the 90s and that isn't a good thing.
Reddit's mass stupidity. I have never seen or heard that either genZ or millenials would tell someone to not wear something.
Outside of dumb posts like this with made up stories.
I’m avoiding all recent generational trends and going for the Pablo Picasso look in the summer. Baggy linen shirts and pants with sockless espadrilles. Say something broccoli head!

Wait, there are people who have problems with small socks?
Dude no fuckin way. I don’t wanna sound like a boomer but first they go back to baggy pants and now ankle socks are uncool?
Baggy pants is the new in, saw it at Abercrombie and Fitch https://preview.redd.it/i16bplgwvdad1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7a79f620ee9b136d4b4da80f2b7dfb85a487a6a6 Some millennials may want to relive their youth, some can’t go back, won’t go back…. I am the latter.
JNCO jeans are back on the menu boys!
![gif](giphy|TZ7uz8JkZYPPG)
Jesus…I’m 40 and have just now come to terms with above the knee shorts. Ya’ll gotta slow this roller coaster down.
I'm closer to 50 and I'm looking at buying a pair of overalls. I rocked them in the early 90's, so why not now when I can actually appreciate their functionality?
Do it.
Agree. You will be so glad you did.
You can go all summer with just one pair of overalls (and nothing else)
_Feels like I'm wearing nothing at all_ _Nothing at all_ _Nothing at all . . ._
Stupid sexy Flanders
Never going above the knee. I just feel naked with above the knee
I use to be like you. Then I went out and got some 9" seam non-cargo shorts and it was freeing.
You must be a boomer according to Reddit. Only 5” or maybe 7” are acceptable.
haha that was the skater uniform. big pants and tiny wheels lol
Me rocking my 10year+ skate clothes, GenZ's "omg"
Are we in for the 3rd (4th?) bell bottoms resurgence?
Yes! My younger coworkers started wearing them last year and I was stoked. Bell bottoms were always the most flattering cut for me and the high waisted ones are amazing. Also bell bottom yoga pants are hip now, which is even better!

Love that video with the Thomas the tank engine theme song dubbed on top.
Are they truly coming back? I am 32 and missed their prime but will 150% rock them today.
Not even joking, I saw a group of teenagers last week and one of them was rocking them HARD. Like full JNCO barrel legs, patches on the back, wallet chain. Could not believe my eyes. They had to be new too.
Nature is healing 💚
I saw someone with JNCO, or similar, a few weeks ago in Oregon. I was very surprised, but hopeful. Next up, cargo pants. I never had a use for all the pockets, but they were my jam for many years.
I haven't seen any trendy zoomers in JNCO but they have completely rejected skinny and narrow leg pants which is fine with me.
Older millennial here. Grew up on JNCO’s, can’t understand skinny jeans. I get a rash just thinking about them. Ankle socks ftw
I'm with you. Maybe it was just those middle millennials that liked 'em. I never got the whole skinny super tight stuff.
I'll just have my tapered slims thanks, they ain't gotta be skinny
Don't let your dreams be dreams. https://jnco.com/
$250?! My dreams will remain dreams for now, but I am glad that the world once again has access to this garment.
> Are they truly coming back? I have seen JNCOs at least three times in the wild recently. Don't forget your Vans too.
time to get out the 3/4 jorts
When Jncos gets a knock-off that isn't $200 for a pair of jeans, I'm SO fucking buying a pair! I'll roll up to the construction site in my pair of denim dresses and give the foreman a smug 'what's up' nod as I walk by.

Pry my ankle socks from my cold dead bare ankles
*This is my last resort!*
Speaking of a similar thought I had the other day… NuMetal “died” around 2004 and it’s 2024 which means a revival is due to happen soon.
Kittie just released a new album a couple weeks ago and I gotta admit I'm digging it.
> don’t wanna sound like a boomer but first they go back to baggy pants and now ankle socks are uncool? You went to a mall. You may have actually hit a time anomaly.
My big takeaway from this is that *malls* are back. Who knew?
And they have the audacity to they wear their baggy pants.... High waisted![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm)
All I wear are skinny jeans. My daughter (14) has begged me to wear some of the mold flared jeans or my boot cut jeans that are still in the closet lol 😂. I can’t go back from skinny or at least slim fit as a short girl with no tailoring budget. So many disgusting ruined pants bottoms back in the day.
There is absolutely no other sock that makes sense for guys outside of dressy situations.
I say we return to the 80s long socks with two stripes across the top. Red or blue lines. Strangely patriotic
Actually this type of sock is pretty fashionable again. Not like to the knees, but taller socks are back.
Big L for those of us that actually have calf muscles. That shit's uncomfortable.
It took like a decade of be out of the military for my leg hairs to grow back after wearing long socks under boots
What kind of socks am I supposed to wear?
From what I've gathered they are going back to the old people socks that you normally see with cargo shorts and new balance shoes. The ones that us millennials made fun of our parents for wearing.
You mean the ones that go halfway up to the knee that grandpa wears with his sandals?
Hey I still wear those How else are you supposed to show of you sock game
Yeah, if you head over to the streetwear sub most of them look like unemployed geography teachers and that's cool, apparently
I can confirm that Gen Z loves New Balance shoes too.
My old Gen X boss asked my friend(co worker at the time) "Can you please wear some fucking socks?" He then takes his shoe off to reveal he was wearing those same socks. He also wears skin tight pants that come just short of his ankles. I'm guessing that why it bothered him so much haha.
I’m not taking fashion advice from any generation that has embraced crocs
And New Balance paired with crew socks and Dad shorts. You’d have been teased dressing like that in my day.
Every time I seen a teen dressed like that I always ask myself if they are the weird kid in the AV club. I've come to realize either the AV club is big these days, or that's what is popular; maybe both.
So how long before GenZ brings back tighty whities?
Honestly, decades from now, I think Gen Z are going to be looked at as having bad fashion sense. Like, I know every generation thinks every other generation has bad fashion, but I think Gen Z actually do. Like, they're the cool young adults now, but once they age into their 30's and 40's, I think they're going to get memed for their fashion choices. Idk man there was also the skirt over jeans look. And the trucker hats fad. And skinny jeans. And all the layering going on for whatever reason.
Or wear them with socks ![gif](giphy|RCX9vhBZu3oqM5SpwV|downsized)
Neon pink crocs with socks at halal guys i wanted him thrown out
I'm late to the party, but yeah, when did this happen? I like my tan lines natural. Swing low, sweet chariots.
too damn hot for long socks
Yep. Before we would harp on the boomers for their long ass socks Now we get harped on for having ankle socks. Karma’s a bitch.
Yo maybe theres a happy medium socks
One of each.
![gif](giphy|QYdmLrOXzhJBpRwhrs|downsized)
Supposedly it's a "who pays the same/more money for less material". Which I kind of get but comfort gets to weigh in on this decision.
These people really should not be told about thongs then.
Those are the same people that are buying pre cut jeans and wear socks with flip flops. I wouldn’t put too much stock in what they think
Ankle socks have been such a boon for me. When I sweat with long leg hair and long socks, it literally hurts like my hair is being pulled.
K I think you might be the guy that ruined it for us.
As a hairy dude, long socks suck ass for comfort. Make me feel like I’m in my grandpas compression socks
Yup agreed. I have big calves and lots of leg hair. Crew socks are torture.
Religious fanatics have hated exposed ankles since the crusades
Taking advice and criticisms from Gen Z sounds pretty mid to me
No cap.
Fr fr skibidi toilet bro
That can’t be a sentence.. right?
I mean, it is a sentence. Does it make sense? No
I’ll give them ‘phrase’ and that’s as far as my old ass will go
Don’t you dare put that shit on us, that’s gen alpha. We said dumb shit like swag and we dabbed.
here come dat boi 🐸
Bruh, dat boi 🐸 is an icon traversing all generations ^^o ^^shit ^^waddup
O shit waddup
Bruh, bet

It’s giving basic my guy

certified yappers
This fuckers got Rizz
That is Skibidi bruh
They’re judging our skinny jeans and we still wear them lol they’re fine!
Mid ankle, amirite?
That’s mega bussin my guy
Say less
Studies have shown that Gen Z is having less sex than other generations. Their crew socks can serve a dual purpose. LMAO
They could also be homeless, don't sell yourself short.
They'll brand it as "vagrantcore" or something.
*Derelicte*
Hey Derek, you can derelicte my balls.
I can derelick, my own balls thank you very much
I love that these comments are *inside* the computer.
Funnest game I ever played was homeless or hipster in Santa Cruz. You really can’t tell the difference most of the time!
Alpaca haircut 😂😂
Just think "I'm really just abbreviating charisma and everyone else is too stupid to know and think that rizz is a real word"
oooooooooooooooooh THANK YOU
Using rizz is delulu and those alpaca haircuts are cheugy (did I do that right? 😂)
English motherfucker, do you speak it?!
What?
1 more time..
Lmao I had to look up wtf cheugy means 🤣. Being part of the youngest millennials suck because that means my dating pool is going to have genZ women who I won't be able to communicate with 😭I immediately have no rizz
I’m over here waiting for the definition of cheugy…
You can cheugy on deez nuts lmao
Got eem
This is peak reddit. They know the answer/link and then don't post it. Ten years someone will google cheugy and find this post but find no answer.
I like rizz. Cha-rizz-ma. Flows off the tongue, simple but confusing. Noun, verb, adverb with skill. Fantastic slang.
Alpaca haircut🤣🤣🤣I lost it at that
BCS. Birth control socks.
Dual*. A duel is when you fight someone who has offended your honor and whatnot.
I am way too exhausted to put much thought into the socks that I wear.
Last time I thought about socks was maybe 4 years ago when they discontinued the type I buy. 10 minutes later I’ve found a new one and only think about them when they need to be replaced
Just be lame like me and buy the same 12 pack of Puma socks from Costco until the day you die. Feels good.
Look at this guy with his Costco membership. I get mine off Amazon
My brothers, their wives, my spouse, and I all wear the Puma socks from Costco. If anyone takes their socks off at get togethers, it's chaos of trying to find your pair
My back hurts
I'm gonna wear ankle socks even harder now. I'm also cutting all of my long socks and converting them into ankle socks.
Two pairs! At the same time!
They’re the popped collars of feet.
They can pry my ankle socks off my cold dead feet.
I will die with my ankle socks
I fuck in my ankle socks
Same here! Ankle socks forever!
Boomers wear crew socks. So gen z is now wearing boomer socks and X-Millenial baggy clothes
Gen X here, we’ve seen all the styles come and go and come back. It’s fine nobody mentions us, it’s fine
Gen X is the middle child of generations
Gen who? What are you talking about?
never heard of gen x...
I don't get the crew socks if your not wearing boots. Why would you want to be working out and get the most awkward tanline ever.

Since when do ppl give a shit about socks so much lol
wearing long socks irritates my legs by pulling on the hairs all day, feels awful for hours afterwards idk how people can stand them
The trend I keep seeing is guys wearing grey shorts, grey hoodie, sandals/shoes with white socks hiked way the fuck up. I'm not even that old, but when I was younger, pulling your socks up (when on display, like when wearing shorts) made you look like a dumbass. Now it's fashion? I don't get it. It looks stupid as fuck.
yeah never once have I seen anyone wearing tall socks and thought to myself anything other than "that looks terrible"
The Inane Generational Gripes wheel must ever turn.
Gen X, Millennials, & Zoomers: "We must unite against the Boomers!" Boomers: "Gen Z said your socks are dumb lol" Millennials: "Those sons of bitches! I always hated their hair, speech, and blasé references to suicide!"
they don't, this sub is exaggerating
If I'm wearing shorts and trainers, I'm wearing ankle socks. Anything else just looks like Hey Arnold
Are we the new boomers? 😭
Yes. I caught myself saying "I don't understand new music" the other day and the wave of self-awareness washed over me.

No. They are. Gen z are not open about anything. The openness of millennials was the unique difference in us I believe.
https://i.redd.it/z7pxu4y1vdad1.gif
I remember being shocked about a decade ago seeing teens wearing long socks like they were pasty british accountants at a hotel pool in Orlando. Now they're making fun of us?
Of course GenZ loves tube socks and 5” inseams. Like our parents did!
Short shorts are great for men with nice quads
I’m all about the short shorts but I ain’t pulling my socks up with them.
They wear Crocs and pajamas in public so.....
The pajamas don't bother me, it's the kids carrying blankets around like they're fucking Linus that annoys me
Crew socks make me itchy.
I always liked crew socks but my wife bullied me into wearing ankle socks. Now my high school kid wears knee high tube socks with Crocs.
No way I'm ever giving up my ankle socks! I'd rather give up my cargo shorts before that and I love those things.
Cargo Shorts Brigade! Represent!
I'd rather give up my ankle socks. I have these cargo shorts that have these pockets inside the cargo pockets that a phone fits perfectly in. They were like $20 at Costco.
I e always hated ankle socks, but no show socks are for ever.
No show socks always fall off.
You gotta get the kind with the little rubber strips at the heel so they don’t slip
I have those and they still fall off
yep. my ankles need to breath
Gen alpha will bring back low rise skinny jeans
What’s wrong with ankle socks?!
I don’t like crew socks because they’re uncomfortable lol I don’t really care how uncool I look wearing ankle socks
I'm married, I'm done in the dating pool. I wear decorative long socks. Fuck the world
What? No show socks are the best. I remember when Gen Xers made fun of me and called me gay for wearing them.
Okay, in equal measure: Why does Gen Z look like the most normie McPinkerton's this side of a 1952 suburban lawn? To quote my mother: “Every generation loses its first battle because you can’t afford to maintain highlights.” She wasn’t wrong.
I wear whatever is clean and I can find a match for. Tall, short, no show. Idgaf.

When I see younger kids wear stupid shit like Crocs (that we rejected upon it's initial release) and mid calf length socks they look to me like how my Dad looked in the 90s and that isn't a good thing.
Ankle socks keep my feet cool
What the heck are you talking about? I'm Gen Z and I've always worn ankle socks. Who's going around telling other people what sock length to wear?
Reddit's mass stupidity. I have never seen or heard that either genZ or millenials would tell someone to not wear something. Outside of dumb posts like this with made up stories.
I’m long socks with pants and ankle socks with shorts. No judgment, Gen z can do whatever the hell they want. I’m definitely going to.
Young generation thinks the clothes their parents wear is uncool. News at 11
I’m avoiding all recent generational trends and going for the Pablo Picasso look in the summer. Baggy linen shirts and pants with sockless espadrilles. Say something broccoli head!
