The second one but without the trapdoors
Also, I would reccomend you to place redstone lanterns instead of sea lanterns, and for it's activation, you could placer solar pannels on top of them.
(Sorry if I wrote something wrong, english is not my first language but i think you understood what I'm saying)
East vs west
https://www.quora.com/From-space-can-you-tell-the-difference-between-East-and-West-Berlin-at-night-because-of-the-different-street-lighting
I’d actually combine the two. The block choice on the second actually looks better (save for the lighting, don’t like those birch trapdoors), but the length of the and shape of first is spot on
Neither I would put daylight sensors on top with some redstone lamps as the lights. Just so it would be more realistic of them coming on at night instead of them always being on
I like 1 slightly better. Both are great, and could be used in different areas, as others have mentioned.
Also, r/lampposts would probably like these :)
Use both but for different districts. It’ll make the city more realistic because most cities haven’t fully replaced all of their street lights with LED’s. If you keep a couple of incandescent style lights, it’ll make the city more immersive.
Have you tried out the lamppost design from the city handbook?
Also hve the classic fence post one with slabs and glowstone. I use them for my city builds on my realm. Mainly because it’s cheap as of it’s done in survival
Honestly both, rarely do cities have the same type of street lamp for every road, usually the highway might have one kind, one kind in the city, another in the suburbs. You could easily use both
I personally prefer the warm yellow light from the second pic, but most modern cities have been switching to more energy efficient bulbs which emit the bluish white light seen in the first.
First one for modern lamp posts and second one for old/wornout lamp posts. Also the second one could work better for tropical-like or desert based cities.

Tip: for the minecraft, press F2, then, in your file explorer, go to %appdata% and click on .minecraft and then screenshots (some modloaders might have a different path (this includes curseforge))
They’re pretty close, tbh the first one is more realistic since actual city lights are just glass with lights in it, but the second one is also something I’d prefer for a more detailed look! (Also! If you do tend to go with the first one, also try with the yellow frog light and see if you like it :))
I feel like you can put a redstone block n a slime block for traffic lights and don't forget the orange honeyblock...Though you can just use concrete blocks for those...About the street light...they don't span over half of the road...but still, looks good (2nd design better)
The first one. The second one I would use it on a market build, perhaps, I think it would look cool. But then again, I'm not a builder, so maybe my judgement isn't the best one.
i think the first with the addition of trap doors from the second. maybe use frog lights for inner city and then sea lanterns for the motorway? i much prefer the actual lamp post design in the first one.

Nr 2 for inner city , nr 1 for outskirts/highway , usually inner city lamps are a bit fancier
The first looks like LEDs, the second looks like the old sodium bulb streetlights from the 80's. I think your idea is pot on.
Pot?
Pot 👍

You ruined it, are you proud of yourself? Shame.
lol, "spot", but autocorrect's not gonna catch that one. Looking at the comments, I can't in good conscience change it now.
This. Do you know the sky pic from West and East Berlin?
This is the right answer.
I like the first one better but it's close
[удалено]
Wow even the bots are getting lazy these days... smh
They are both good for a city.
They are the same lamppost.
No they're not
I’m referencing the Pam meme from the office where she says “it’s the same picture”
Technically they are the same lamp post just different lamps
look at the lamps in both images
The first
I like the second, but with the lights used in the first
This is the way
Use blue frog lights!
there are no blue froglights, there is purple (pearlescent) green (verdant) and yellow (ochre)
They probably meant pearlescent.
the yellow look good for city build no? i always see yellow street lights
I personally like the 1st one better
1 for larger streets and downtown areas 2 for smaller streets, industrial and urban areas.
Definitely the first
Second one miles clear honestly
Second one for sure
The second one but without the trapdoors Also, I would reccomend you to place redstone lanterns instead of sea lanterns, and for it's activation, you could placer solar pannels on top of them. East vs west https://www.quora.com/From-space-can-you-tell-the-difference-between-East-and-West-Berlin-at-night-because-of-the-different-street-lighting
I sugges using yellow froglight
They are both good for a city. I would use 2 in like a downtown area and 1 for the rest
1st one but with trapdoors like the second one has
Second with iron trapdoors
Theyre both good but the second one is definitely more realistic
i like the first one better. it looks more modern without the trapdoors.
I like the first one best. Both are good though.
1st
The Prnt screen button.
I'd say second one slightly better but they are very similar
Hmm neither have light sensors to turn them on/off so i probably wouldn’t use either but I’d say #2 looks better; it’s got more detail!
2 because at night with shaders it wont be blooming everywhere but just at the bottom :)
2nd
I would take the first one but both are pretty neat. Good job!
I like the first one because it’s less crowded.
none
First for sure more uniform
2nd one just to limit light pollution
The first one looks better, but the length of the second is better.
I’d actually combine the two. The block choice on the second actually looks better (save for the lighting, don’t like those birch trapdoors), but the length of the and shape of first is spot on
2 but only for the part connecting the light and the pole.
I think the first one is better.
First one, but with the andesite
Why not use both for certain areas
The first one
Lamppost 1 looks better.
both- both is good
First, but I’d throw a couple iron trap doors on top like three of them to add a subtle arch
Neither I would put daylight sensors on top with some redstone lamps as the lights. Just so it would be more realistic of them coming on at night instead of them always being on
Why not both
first one with froglight imo
First one gives it a more high tech, big city feel
First one!
left (1st) one looks a LOT better
You could use iron trap doors and a debug stick to close them
tall for big cities
Maybe the second with iron trapdoors instead
You should do both throughout. Normal cities also have different styled lights
I like 1 slightly better. Both are great, and could be used in different areas, as others have mentioned. Also, r/lampposts would probably like these :)
The first one
The first. But please use screenshots next time
I like the first one. The second is a bit clunky. Also the first one reminds me of old builds I did back in the Pocket Edition days.
Definitely 2 because of how it shines the most straight down and the trapdoors give it that gross old yellow color
Second one
First
First one
SECOND ONE
the first one is better
I like the first one for a newer city and the second one for like an older city. Maybe like the old factory district or something
2 Def 2
Ah yes, something I am uniquely adapted to be able to do. First one.
The first one for an "advanced", "new", "fancy" or "clean, crisp and proper" city, number 2 for a more "cozy" or "slightly older" city
I prefer the 2nd one
imo they would both be better with one light rather than 2, but the second is better
Use both but for different districts. It’ll make the city more realistic because most cities haven’t fully replaced all of their street lights with LED’s. If you keep a couple of incandescent style lights, it’ll make the city more immersive.
Left one
Have you tried out the lamppost design from the city handbook? Also hve the classic fence post one with slabs and glowstone. I use them for my city builds on my realm. Mainly because it’s cheap as of it’s done in survival
The second one is much more aesthetic and appealing
Lamppost 1 with the trapdoors from Lamppost 2
I'd suggest either but with the new new frog lights
2 by a landslide
The first but maybe with yellow froglights?
Shroomlight to match the yellow, then the trapdoors
The first seems more modern and new than the 2nd, but cities irl are never perfect. maybe mix it if the city is big enough.
Honestly both, rarely do cities have the same type of street lamp for every road, usually the highway might have one kind, one kind in the city, another in the suburbs. You could easily use both
Option one, mod it and you can have stop lights (use the frog lights, I believe they come in red yellow and green variants)
2nd for a park, 1st for roads
Both are good. I think time is the determining factor. First light is more modern. Second light is more retro. Yellow lights are so 80s.
Instead of sealanterns, why not use redstone lamps and daylight detectors?
Replace the sea lanterns with ochre froglight
2nd one. More color = better. There's going to be plenty of other less-colorful things around. Have your lamps be part of the solution to monotony!
The first one.
2nd one. 1st one looks like a traffic light.
I personally prefer the warm yellow light from the second pic, but most modern cities have been switching to more energy efficient bulbs which emit the bluish white light seen in the first.
I would use both. One style for say Business area and the other for Residential.
I like the first one. The colors feel like they work better.
#1, the sea lanterns
first. second is nice for a rustic town
The second one, they kinda look like streetlights
personally i like the 2nd one a bit better, but can't you use both? cities don't usually just have one type of streetlamp, there's a lot of variety
Personally I'd use a shroomlight but with number 2. It would give off a warmer yellowish light instead of an industrial whiteish light
2nd one reminds me more of a lamp i see outwest in chicago and the 1st is up north
I've got something similar. Try acacia trapdoors, both sides, front and the bottom. See what you think. Looks a bit steampunk.
First one for highways, second one for suburban
1 looks more city, 2 looks more suburbs
idk i like both
Second, but iron trapdoors.
1st one!
Have the first one in new areas and the second one in older or less fortunate areas.
the second one
First one for modern lamp posts and second one for old/wornout lamp posts. Also the second one could work better for tropical-like or desert based cities.
Try iron trap doors
2 because less light pollution
i like the 2nd one, it's more resources saving and simple to build and memorizes.
I'm thinking 2nd
The 2nd one without the birch trapdoors
Use nr 1, also mby froglight is better
r/screenshottingishard Tip: for the minecraft, press F2, then, in your file explorer, go to %appdata% and click on .minecraft and then screenshots (some modloaders might have a different path (this includes curseforge))
lamp 2
They’re pretty close, tbh the first one is more realistic since actual city lights are just glass with lights in it, but the second one is also something I’d prefer for a more detailed look! (Also! If you do tend to go with the first one, also try with the yellow frog light and see if you like it :))
Second one facing the right
2nd since less light pollution
Screenshot exists
Screenshot exists ..................nice idea tho
I’m partial to the second one
The first one is nicer, imo. Maybe could use the second one in some sort of industrial area.
2nd, first lamppost doesn't diffuse side/upwards light causing inconvenience for habitants
Gonna depend on the city. Standard I prefer 1, futuristic style I prefer 2. Old I prefer lanterns. Victorian I’d go with soul lanterns
second
Try out end rods, I'd be interested to see how they look
First, also what kinda city are you building?
The trapdoors look a little weird and unusual. I'm saying 1
Number One for the CBD; Number Two for ChinaTown/Little Italy....
if u wanna go with a more modern look then the first one and if u wanna go w a more 80s look then the second
1st one, also how big is this city for tu to be using structure blocks?
I think having warmer tones makes it look better. so Number 2 for the inner city like Neat\_Drag said
I feel like you can put a redstone block n a slime block for traffic lights and don't forget the orange honeyblock...Though you can just use concrete blocks for those...About the street light...they don't span over half of the road...but still, looks good (2nd design better)
Depends on if you want your city to have the new white lights or the old orange ones
1 for Westside 2 for east side for Berlin flair
Definitely the 2nd.
First one
The first one. The second one I would use it on a market build, perhaps, I think it would look cool. But then again, I'm not a builder, so maybe my judgement isn't the best one.
I think #1 looks nicer but they’re both nice!
i think the first with the addition of trap doors from the second. maybe use frog lights for inner city and then sea lanterns for the motorway? i much prefer the actual lamp post design in the first one.
definetly the first one
First one
Ngl, the first one reminds me of a green light… 2nd one feels more like a tubelight… Maybe using them that way’d work/look better?
2nd
1 seems more classic. 2 seems like a minimal modern design.
The first one is good for a day but the second one feels like a lamp post for the night
2nd
2nd one
I like the first one better because the wood from the trapdoor feels "off" compared to the rest of the build.
1st.
2nd one
