It **has** to change. Current world generation has too many flaws with some things generating where they shouldn't generate and things like that.
**But!** Obviously they're not going to go back to previous world generation, that's just not very smart. The change is not "removing all the cool things". Maybe it will be **better** than now, who knows.
But it's an experimental snapshot, maybe Mojang just did this thing in a few hours just to see how it will look, who knows.
This definitely didn’t take a couple of hours. Remember the first look back in Minecon last year? That’s at least how long they’ve been working on this.
Well, I mean not *literally* few hours. What I meant is that it's probably made simply to test how the generation will look and that it's far away from being finished.
Not only look but perform as well. They need to know weather the majority of players will experience performance issues. Similar of how they warn you before creating an amplified world.
This is the generation that they were hoping to put in 1.17, the obvious difficulty they're having in making it work and be cool without obliterating minecraft's overall look and feel is the reason the Caves & Cliffs update got bifurcated in the first place.
I remember seeing this sort of generation when they gave us a glimpse of the caves (I think it was a tweet by one of the developers) it showed a player gliding into a cave, in retrospect, I should have expected this to come at some point, but I passed it off as a generation defect caused by the new caves at the time.
As I said, the change is **not** necessarily "removing all the cool things".
In this snapshot surface biomes are sometimes generated inside of caves, like there are literally deserts surrounded by stone. Things like that need to be fixed. I'm **not** saying these cool mountains and caves have to go..
Yeah, something funky is up with the surface biome generation. Created a world in the snapshot and immediately spawned between a dark oak forest and a bamboo forest, and right in between the two was a single, 5 blocks wide horizontal strip of wooded badlands plateau, with no other badlands in sight.
Most of what you've seen are cherry-picked screenshots. Theres a ton of messy areas in caves that make them sort of ugly, and broken up terrain and weird biome placement that makes the world look really chaotic, not in a good way
This reminds me of PE world gen (in like the Nether Reactor Core days) just a lot larger scale.
I hope that once this is out of the experimental stage this type of generation is still possible.
Wait i can remember my sis wanted to have a world like mine so she copied some thing to her account and made a world just like mine can yoi send that code or is it the seed
There is no visual difference between 10 and 100 due to how minecraft (edit:java) lighting works. (Not sure if that's true underwater). A block can't be brighter than it would be at light level 15. Gamma above 1 is only used on lightlevel below 15. E.g.: Gamma 5 makes you expierence visual light level reduction only at light level 4 and below.
1.18 became the second part of 1.17, since they couldn't manage to get done with the cave generation part in time, so my guess is that they're going to work to get 1.18 out pretty quickly
Ha, yeah, I guess I was expecting 1.17 part 2, not 1.18. Also, I didn't know snapshots were coming out for the next version already. I guess I was also expecting it to take a half a year, at least.
Yeah the Caves and Cliffs: part II is going to be 1.18. And the proper snapshots haven't yet started. Mojang stated that snapshots begin dropping probably early september. This is just an experiemental snapshot to get feedback on the new world generation.
It wouldn’t be an awesome treat, it’ll be generation not worth going into because it’s your average cave but far more hostile mobs in it
If you make this kind of generation more common though, it’ll encourage players to become more skilled to explore them
>it’s your average cave but far more hostile mobs in it
They've changed up mob spawning rules so hostile mobs now require absolute darkness to spawn, so that should make caves like this a little easier to handle.
it also makes life WAY more easy, now torches are actually usefull in small scale, i wont have to put a million torches just to have a house with less mobs
It’s surprising they stuck with the Adventure Update model of world generation for almost an entire decade (literally 2 months off right now). It was wildly unpopular back then, and while they improved it substantially over time its blandness seemed to be something they could never fully fix
It would be the special x box edition Minecraft mini game as there is a tumble, battle, and gliding and the battle is obvious and then tumble is a spleef (don’t know how to spell that) and the gliding thing (forgot the name) is where you glide to the end and keep in mind that the mini games are multiplayer
Honestly, i kindof want all this crazy worldgen stuff to become either a new world option available for selection, or a new biome/set of biomes that generates alongside more tame worldgen.
You know what, maybe this update od better than I thought, i know you have to be lucky but at least it didn't end with some new useless ore, useless crystal and few useless new mobs (not counting the warden because he wasn't added yet) (also, yes, axelotls are cute but still not too useful).
I hope the new generation will make up for it.
Can they add some sort of grapple hook now, maybe combine; the crossbow; a fishing rod; some (levels of durability) bone, iron, diamond. Bam new side tool perfect for cave spelunking
I started in 2013 and boy am I happy they finally updated my base and they were so nice they even gave me a little back yard as that really cool mountain side is now cooler and then inside I got a huge cave
They changed mob spawning, now they need complete darkness, so it will be much easier to light everything up.
I also like that now you can make a pretty dark room with only maybe glow lichen and a couple of candles without a fear of creepers blowing everything up.
I played around with some world generation settings last year and ended up with caves that looked like that. The surface was just a layer of flat bedrock though.
I also did floating islands and desert biome so digging the wrong block made some parts of the island collapse lmao.
Even if they change it which they probably will terrain generation like this as an option would be cool like amplified worlds but instead amplified caves
Wait, tnt is a option? I used my pickaxe as in bedrock it’s soo hard to get tons of tnt so I just mined out thousands of blocks, really no joke I did and when I go back or to it I run soooo far and it takes soo long to get to the other side and it’s a big mined out area that goes on and on and on and then it’s a maze and don’t get me started on my nether mine as I used beds as I am good at sheep farms and I used 5 stacks of wool and so I am lost in the nether mine and I don’t know where to go
1) yes tnt is an option
-just clean up the mess or not (ur choice)
2) if u dont want to get lost in the nether use bright blocks cuz it will stand out, or birch signs
One problem I did use torches but I followed the torches and it led to more dead ends and everything looks the same as I made multiple camps that look the same for storage and the mines all look the same and it goes on to the point where it’s a never ending maze. It’s a multiplayer server with me and my friend and he placed a lot of torches.
And with the tnt, it was a joke

Is it an Amplified world or just regular generation?
Pretty sure it's regular generation 1.18, but it's experimental so it will probably change.
People have yet to realize that snapshot feature generation rates are always a cranked to the max to see if they work correctly
Now i know.
It shouldn't be. It's awesome
It **has** to change. Current world generation has too many flaws with some things generating where they shouldn't generate and things like that. **But!** Obviously they're not going to go back to previous world generation, that's just not very smart. They made me sign a contract sayin "WARNING, Your pc **WILL** explode when you load a amplified world.
This is the generation that they were hoping to put in 1.17, the obvious difficulty they're having in making it work and be cool without obliterating minecraft's overall look and feel is the reason the Caves & Cliffs update got bifurcated in the first place.
That and meshing with old worlds. I'm still playing my beta1.3 world.
Yea, I remember a glimpse of the terrain in one of the developer’s videos. I wrote it off as a bug from the new cave generation… guess I was wrong!
I think that if all they changed was made cheese caves not able to connect to the surface it would be good.
But that’s some of the most breath taking views!
I remember seeing this sort of generation when they gave us a glimpse of the caves (I think it was a tweet by one of the developers) it showed a player gliding into a cave, in retrospect, I should have expected this to come at some point, but I passed it off as a generation defect caused by the new caves at the time.
what are the flaws :( this generation looks good i hope it stays
As I said, the change is **not** necessarily "removing all the cool things". In this snapshot surface biomes are sometimes generated inside of caves, like there are literally deserts surrounded by stone. Things like that need to be fixed. I'm **not** saying these cool mountains and caves have to go..
Agreed, some of the funkiness with the biomes blending together has to be changed, it just looks way too weird. It’s really inspiring terrain though
I’ve seen what should’ve been a river inside two plains be a snowy biome
Yeah, something funky is up with the surface biome generation. Created a world in the snapshot and immediately spawned between a dark oak forest and a bamboo forest, and right in between the two was a single, 5 blocks wide horizontal strip of wooded badlands plateau, with no other badlands in sight.

May be caused by some mistake in the code that causes the caves generate too far up.
Please, I hope it won't change much, this is amazing.
This is where you build a dwarven city. I mean seriously. This is phenomenal. Minecraft is the GOAT.
oooooh please build the shit out of that it could look so cool!!!
This reminds me of PE world gen (in like the Nether Reactor Core days) just a lot larger scale. I hope that once this is out of the experimental stage this type of generation is still possible.
Sick
Java or bedrock
Java
java or bedrock ?
java
Yes
THANKS!
Wait i can remember my sis wanted to have a world like mine so she copied some thing to her account and made a world just like mine can yoi send that code or is it the seed
The cool underground/cave base possibilities are endless
Dwarven kingdom
My friend and I are gonna build an underground city with a ruined castle on top
Diggy diggy hole
We're digging a hole!
Moria
The mines of Moria
Yes
Base?! You could make a whole civilization in that cave!

Oh my god. I dont play mc for a few months and this happen.
it's just weird generation in new experimental snapshot.

The mods just don't want any replies on this comment or something idk
Yeah? Wtf and also i only said sick twice cause of a bug and didnt notice till long after
someone said sick twice I think and now everybody's saying sick to piss off the mods lol
[удалено]
Is it overly bright inside the cave system? It seams really bright.
That's called night vision
Or full bright mod
Or putting gamma to 10.
You could put in on 100 but would be bright as hell
There is no visual difference between 10 and 100 due to how minecraft (edit:java) lighting works. (Not sure if that's true underwater). A block can't be brighter than it would be at light level 15. I hope this is kind of cave generation is intentional, it looks amazing ^^^^^^^^^^^sick

I want my comment to be removed by the mods
Why tho
Every other comment seems to be removed, so just asking for it!
I would save that world and build a city around it.
Life beneath the lands :)
Long ago, two races ruled over Earth: HUMANS and MONSTERS.
They died lol.
^Yes Yes YES #YES
So much potential
Man I’m in my Minecraft downtime right now but this makes me wanna come back
Don't worry, this is just the snapshot. The actual update will come later on.
It's an experimental snapshot, you're best waiting til november/december when the actual release will come out
When they fix these glitches i hope they add them to a option called Extreme Caves or something
Probably this'll be the new AMPLIFIED setting in world gen
You devilish tempter...
I hope they just spawn in regular worlds at very very rare intervals
New biome?
Seems a bit experimental more than anything
I know its experimental snapshot and they have a lot work to do, but this generation just wow
Makes ya wish it wasnt experimental, oh, mind if i ask the seed?
Nvm on the seed
Wait 1.18 is coming out already??!!
1.18 became the second part of 1.17, since they couldn't manage to get done with the cave generation part in time, so my guess is that they're going to work to get 1.18 out pretty quickly
I think they said Holiday 2021
Ha, yeah, I guess I was expecting 1.17 part 2, not 1.18. Also, I didn't know snapshots were coming out for the next version already. I guess I was also expecting it to take a half a year, at least.

It's july. Holidays like 4 months away
Wait wait wait wait wait wait wait wait wait wait wait wait wait explain to me like I'm 5 And also since I didn't read up alot on what's new in 17
If they tone it down to a boring degree I'm gonna be pissed
Yeah, all they need to do is make these types of caves rare. That's it. Then it becomes an awesome treat when you find one
It wouldn’t be an awesome treat, it’ll be generation not worth going into because it’s your average cave but far more hostile mobs in it If you make this kind of generation more common though, it’ll encourage players to become more skilled to explore them
>it’s your average cave but far more hostile mobs in it They've changed up mob spawning rules so hostile mobs now require absolute darkness to spawn, so that should make caves like this a little easier to handle.

I wanna go there, and im bringing my elytra
X box edition mini game flash backs
Glide?
GLIDE WAS SO GOOD! my greatest achievement was being top 100 on the first map at one point
Wow
Wish they’d add it back and add an official map for each update, caves and cliffs glide map would be amazing!
YESSSS!
We wanted caves, and by god did mojang give us some good caves

It’s surprising they stuck with the Adventure Update model of world generation for almost an entire decade (literally 2 months off right now). It was wildly unpopular back then, and while they improved it substantially over time its blandness seemed to be something they could never fully fix
just imagine flying through this with your elytra it would be both fun and scary
There's Terra Swoop Force if you ever want to experience that :D
It doesn't work on the latest version :( I tried to play it with Realms and I learned this the hard way
It would be the special x box edition Minecraft mini game as there is a tumble, battle, and gliding and the battle is obvious and then tumble is a spleef (don’t know how to spell that) and the gliding thing (forgot the name) is where you glide to the end and keep in mind that the mini games are multiplayer
You spelt it right!
Are these modes still playable on Xbox??
Only if you have legacy console edition
this Minecraft update will change Minecraft forever THIS WILL BE AWESOME!
To be fair, every Update changes minecraft forever... that's kinda the point of an update, right?
Not many updates add such a large change to world generation
r/technicallythetruth
Yes, but this completely changes the start of the game, and later endeavours.
Press f to pay respects to my $2 (used to be) PC
Bro is terrain stays like this my dwarven builds are gonna look SO good.
Seed and coords?
>seed: 2860142694335339622 coordinates: 84 71 -3063
Thanks!
Basically mojang returned old generation but made it smoother
this is normal and new its beautiful and also is there glow berryS???
Under y=0, yes. Maybe above it idk but I haven't found them yet
It looks cool, but it also looks super broken.
I 100% agree with you
Mines of moria here we come
gives my nether with an overworld skin vibes
Honestly, i kindof want all this crazy worldgen stuff to become either a new world option available for selection, or a new biome/set of biomes that generates alongside more tame worldgen.
Okay the cave intensity might need to be toned down a bit...
Or toned up
We need to be going up, not down!
Bro keep that as a setting, don't want the already annoying water potholes to turn into underground canyons.
Yeah, I think it's too unnatural. It's a great idea, if it isn't that extreme though.
I think it'd be great if rare. Like if it's really *something* to stumble upon.
yeah
Yeah, I hope we can get stuff like more like this: https://imgur.com/gallery/eYuK0
da caves in da cliffs
Reminds me of that classic, old Minecraft PE seed, nyan. I loved that seed
Looks stunning, is it on bedrock yet?
Nope, it probably won’t be for atleast 2 months
Looks like nether but not in nether
okay, the bee update was pretty cool but i like this, too
This is stunning
They need to add some items that will make it easier to explore these big caves like grappling hooks maybe
No wonder they wont release it early its still broken but that is absolutely beautiful
first skyrim not minecraft- HOW MANY TIMES AM I GONNA FALL INTO THE UNDERDARK. nah jokes aside this is insanely cool
Can they add some sort of grapple hook now, maybe combine; the crossbow; a fishing rod; some (levels of durability) bone, iron, diamond. Bam new side tool perfect for cave spelunking
This is just an elytra course waiting to happen
ha and they called it a mine!
They clearly have a lot of work to do.
yeah, thats true.
nah, I love the new generation, they need to work on the performance tho
Ehh it’s really cool but stuff like this is just a bit too common
Oh my god how the fuck is it already perfect. This is the terrain I have been looking for since 2015.
I started in 2013 and boy am I happy they finally updated my base and they were so nice they even gave me a little back yard as that really cool mountain side is now cooler and then inside I got a huge cave
it weirdly good isn't it? but it's absolutely nightmare when to try to light up the cave to make a mob farm
They changed mob spawning, now they need complete darkness, so it will be much easier to light everything up. I also like that now you can make a pretty dark room with only maybe glow lichen and a couple of candles without a fear of creepers blowing everything up.
Build a hanging base
Woah… wtf?
I played around with some world generation settings last year and ended up with caves that looked like that. The surface was just a layer of flat bedrock though. I also did floating islands and desert biome so digging the wrong block made some parts of the island collapse lmao.
Now we understand why the update was split in two don’t we?
this is making my head explode! im currently making a cave base and this would be absolutely perfect with the layers
Even if they change it which they probably will terrain generation like this as an option would be cool like amplified worlds but instead amplified caves
Finally i dont need to terra form with tnt :D
Wait, tnt is a option? I used my pickaxe as in bedrock it’s soo hard to get tons of tnt so I just mined out thousands of blocks, really no joke I did and when I go back or to it I run soooo far and it takes soo long to get to the other side and it’s a big mined out area that goes on and on and on and then it’s a maze and don’t get me started on my nether mine as I used beds as I am good at sheep farms and I used 5 stacks of wool and so I am lost in the nether mine and I don’t know where to go

I believe THAT is a amplified biome
nope
