If you want to know why, here is my perspective. I started with legacy console on the xbox 360 at my friend's house then got it on the xbox 1 and mobile for Christmas that year. Eventually I found out about redstone and that lead me down a pipeline where I noticed that in my version of the game I couldn't put armor stands in minecarts and the only version you could was java edition so I saved my money to get java edition. After a while though my computer broke and I moved back to console. Eventually legacy console and pocket edition were discontinued in favor of bedrock which (if you didn't know) legacy console had java redstone, Quasi connectivity and all. So the switch to bedrock essentially made all my redstone knowledge useless and I was frustrated with the game for a few years until I received a laptop for Christmas in 2021. I remembered my old account and was able to relearn redstone, and I am at the point I am today where I despise bedrock but like every other version of the game.
Lesson learnt: personal preference. You neither should nor shouldn’t play a specific version. This guy chose Java for a reason, you might have a different choice for a different reason
While it is mostly that its also that bedrock gameplay makes me motion sick (no idea why) and just there are so many little things that are different that it just doesn't feel right.
Honestly I relate to the motion sickness in a way, I don’t get motion sickness from it but I can’t play Minecraft on my Xbox anymore because the graphics hurt my eyes 😂 even if I use the updated graphics they mess with my eyes
They really should make the two versions identical to each other aside from certain aspects such as cross-console compatibility for Bedrock and the Bedrock marketplace (which is alright in concept but needs better moderation) and the easy access to modding Java.
Other than that, movement, lighting, saturation, redstone, combat, etc should all be the same between both versions.
Same. I play Eaglercraft on my school-issued Chromebook during the school day. Those meager 15 frames per second really taught me to appreciate how well Minecraft runs on my phone. It may stutter every once in a while but it works far better in general.
Well, gatekeepers do be gatekeeping and nobody should judge someone for their preferred playstyle or version of the game for that matter.
However, there certainly is valid criticism to be made. Bedrock does have obvious and objective shortcomings compared to Java and it's both neglected by Mojang and the community. That being said, I actually feel bad for Bedrock and I do think it deserves better.
Let's also not overlook the Bedrock marketplace. In theory, it is a nice way for creators being compensated for their hard work, but in practice, the system is definitely predatory. Mojang isn't the small, indie company it once was, but a billion dollar company owned by one of the biggest corporations in the entire industry. It does take 30% of every marketplace purchase, so the majority of the profits still go to the creators, but it still is a huge cut. Apple e.g also charges 30% of any purchase made in their app store and it is regularly criticized for being too much. And Apple at least is very good at monitoring their app store. The Bedrock marketplace is notoriously unregulated and what you think you're gonna get isn't always what you're gonna get and there are no refunds for purchases made with minecoins.
Let's also not forget that the vast majority of Bedrock players are console players, a playerbase consisting of mostly highly casual players and children, a group particularly vulnerable to this kind of monetization. From comment sections and posts in this sub, I have also often noticed that people don't even know that there actually is plenty of free content for Bedrock out there, too. (It definitely is not as easy to install 3rd party content like that on consoles tho)
The bedrock hate is crazy. It's the same game with some changes to make it run smoothly on lesser consoles. Some kids play Java and think that every bedrock world is invalid or something.
It's like they feel threatened that they might not have chosen the superior version, we know Java is better overall but just let us enjoy bedrock.
IIbknow, It's dumb. Who cares what version someone else enjoys to play?
It's always the Java players that have a problem with bedrock or pocket edition players.
Well yeah, people say which they prefer but you never see a bedrock player shitting on someone because they play Java. You constantly see Java players hating on bedrock and pocket edition players.
We get it, Java is better overall.
I saw a comment earlier on a guy post. He was showing off his pretty impressive byild and the comment said something like "Its a shame it's on bedrock so none of it matters"
People seem to think playing bedrock is cheating or something. We still have to grind for our stuff just like everyone else
Play whatever version you want Minecraft is Minecraft.
I’ve played the mobile and console version my entire life. I’ve played Java once for a very brief time (I never got the chance to try it again) . I thought it was pretty neat. I didn’t get long to play it because I suck at using a keyboard lol. But the time I did have I enjoyed it. It was like learning Minecraft for the first time again with the completely different controls and slightly different look and stuff like that. But I still play bedrock because I have a preference for that version if. But at the end of the day, they’re both the same game even if there’s some differences.
B-but unless you are using shaders, heavy physics mods or high resolution resource packs, even Java edition runs on a PC easily cheaper than a console. Also there's quite a big assortment of performance boosting mods out there.
In terms of mods, and smoother gameplay, I'd go with Java. Bedrock has more convenient multiplayer setups as all you have to do is friend request somebody.
I appreciate all versions including Java, bedrock, legacy console, Dungeons, legends, Earth, Story Mode, all the various editions that aren't console based like pi, fire stick, gear vr, 4k, etc
Both versions have their perks and downfalls, I personally prefer Java because I grew up with it so yeah. Java for me lol but bedrock isn’t bad, it’s pretty good
I'm with you. I only recently was finally able to start playing Java, though I've hated Bedrock for years. I'm happy to be done with it, but I absolutely understand being stuck with it
Java is like 40$. That's not too bad. The standard game price these days for new releases is 60$. I know that's crazy, but that's the standard. What the heck are we gonna do about it?
because bedrock people think their game is harder or "smarter" and java people think bedrock isn't enjoyable
first, bedrock was meant to be used for non-pc users, then microsoft seperated them by adding some xbox stuff and adding a different "minecraft for windows 10" for no reason
lol I love when people tell you that the *only* way to play a game is with a certain device as if the only reason I’m not playing on that device is preference (and not financial constraints)
How is this still a fight, literally if you owned bedrock or java you were given the version you didn’t own, and if you buy it either version now you Will get both versions.
Java is a script language used for minecraft Java not like mc bedrock means you can copy and paste there's gonna be errors which also means glitches in both versions people say Java is better cues mods are free and there isn't glitches but we all know they just don't want to play it on the go
I like Java but Bedrock runs so much better for me, 24 chunks render distance with shaders and stable 60 FPS
Java is 12 chunks and has many massive stutters even with optimizations mods like Sodium. No matter the settings.
If Java was more optimized then I would play it so much
Me who doesn’t give a shit and plays every version that I have access to
real
deadass
Deadass
Bro is THE real one
Yep

Legacy was BASED on my PS3.
You despise Bedrock because it has different redstone mechanics? That’s it? You _despise_ the version because of _redstone?_ That’s just sad.
While it is mostly that its also that bedrock gameplay makes me motion sick (no idea why) and just there are so many little things that are different that it just doesn't feel right.

Bro redstone is the most fun part of the game after you beat Jean
Not really
I think you don't know how to build redstone
Exactly right. And yet I still enjoy the game after beating it
Yeah bro everyone has their own way of enjoying. I was just telling that redstones are much loven within the community
I play pirated eaglercraft on school computers because my own computer is too shit to run Minecraft
A school computer is better than a home one??? Damn.
It's a laptop with WiFi Vs computer with ethernet, so yeah
Same. I play Eaglercraft on my school-issued Chromebook during the school day. Those meager 15 frames per second really taught me to appreciate how well Minecraft runs on my phone. It may stutter every once in a while but it works far better in general.
Funny i only play legacy

I play java as well as bedrock, and have beautifull memories on both
Yes, same. Doesn't devaluate my points.
Ain’t even gonna lie I read the first sentence before I decided I ain’t reading the rest of that but I do hope there was a point to it 😂
Bruh y did you even bother to reply then?
I was gonna read it after
Did you read it by now btw? lol
The message, yeah sorry I saw it but didn’t have time to read it
Me who knows bedrock is sold with Java now and vise versa:
Java runs worse than bedrock but allows mods, Also only for pc & i know people that buy only consoles & their laptop is like 10yo
Bedrock is more convenient in terms of multiplayer as well
The bedrock hate is crazy. It's the same game with some changes to make it run smoothly on lesser consoles. Some kids play Java and think that every bedrock world is invalid or something. It's like they feel threatened that they might not have chosen the superior version, we know Java is better overall but just let us enjoy bedrock.
I think having a preferred version is alright but fighting wars over it is a bit crazy 💀
IIbknow, It's dumb. Who cares what version someone else enjoys to play? It's always the Java players that have a problem with bedrock or pocket edition players.
nah it’s definitely both ways, people always say that they prefer one version yet never evaluate on it
Well yeah, people say which they prefer but you never see a bedrock player shitting on someone because they play Java. You constantly see Java players hating on bedrock and pocket edition players. We get it, Java is better overall.
yh true

Java player are understandably salty because bedrock keeps dragging down java (bundles and copper bulbs) Bedrock players are just coping
Play whatever version you want Minecraft is Minecraft. I’ve played the mobile and console version my entire life. If you have people pick between two things, there will be a fight over which is better. Every time
Me who broke af and can’t buy a PC but still enjoys the simplicity of Bedrock.

Me who plays pocket edition on my iPod 4
Me who plays on the Wii U console.
I'm with you. I only recently was finally able to start playing Java, though I've hated Bedrock for years. I'm happy to be done with it, but I absolutely understand being stuck with it
Me who says that you can get java without paying if you only have bedrock
Java is like 40$. That's not too bad. The standard game price these days for new releases is 60$. I know that's crazy, but that's the standard. What the heck are we gonna do about it?
Same

I play java 'cause i like mods I play bedrock 'cause my classmate don't have a pc. I prefer java, but i don't dislike bedrock, it's just different
Me with a stolen outdated version of pocket 😶🌫️
I like bedrock, Java, and the lesser played version, legacy.
How is this still a fight, literally if you owned bedrock or java you were given the version you didn’t own, and if you buy it either version now you Will get both versions.
What’s the difference
Java is a script language used for minecraft Java not like mc bedrock means you can copy and paste there's gonna be errors which also means glitches in both versions people say Java is better cues mods are free and there isn't glitches but we all know they just don't want to play it on the go
