Also, lables of what goes where.
A map too.
Imagine you're a warehouse worker and you try to lable things what goes where. So you don't search the entire warehouse for a pack of gum.
Maybe even seperate the whole building into different sections. The wide area where OP was standing, could work well as a gardening or interior display.
You saw a lot of suggestions dor adding stuff (which are correct), but you will need some negative space as well.
Remove every other or third row of chests and replace it with trapdoors or slabs for shelves. Also make empty spaces on shalves. That is, not every shelf should be filled to the brim.
Additionally you could, instead, use different storage types such as barrels and shulker boxes. You could also ocasianlly rotate double chests to face you, when there is an empty space. If you do not care about actual storage, throw different blocks that resemble boxes around.
If your system can handle it well, awesome. Otherwise I would build multiple facilities that are so far appart they aren’t loaded at the same time, typically 150 Blocks+
I'm currently cruising at around 80fps so I think I'm alright but I will build it far away from the main attractions of my world just so it doesn't lag it out. This is just a design in my creative world though.
As someone who is in ops management in fulfillment, I can finally give some input in this sub, haha.
The colors look a bit odd... but the color you have along the ceiling is almost perfect for pallet racking - they are usually green or blue sidebeams/uprights with orange crossbars ([see here](https://i.imgur.com/afj9ROC.jpeg)).
Support beams in warehouses are often bright yellow for safety purposes.
White ceilings, fewer skylights.
Floors vary a bit more, but they are often darker gray... consider some cyan terracotta over the stone mixture you have here.
In terms of layout/etc... for the chests, warehouse locations are almost always split into "bays." Consider something like sections of 5 or 10 chests split up by the sidebeams that I mentioned above. At the end of each row a banner denoting row number, and a set of letters denoting the zone (ie EA-01, EA-02).
Overall it's pretty close, just some tweaks would make it look "authentic."
Build actual giant shelves with large crates and random smaller boxes on instead of just stacking chests as 1 it’ll look better, 2 chests are entities and will disappear from a certain distance and 3 once that’s filled up there will probably be a nice little bit of lag unless you have a god pc.
Also add some large crates on the floor and maybe try building a forklift or 2.
add crates. 2x2 and/or 3x3 blocks like oak planks with signs all around (looks like it holds the crate together)
add piles of stuff (random chests etc)
add other blocks that (look like they) contain stuff like: composters, barrels (!!), looms, crafting tables, etc
add workbenches maybe. You could add grindstones, brewery stands, cauldrons etc near them
your support pillars need an upgrade. Not bamboo and not 1 wide. At least as wide as the chest columns imo
check out Dallamed65 on YT for inspiration, he's made warehouses and storage units in his singleplayer world.
I’d put the chests on actual shelves rather than just have a wall of chests. Also decoration and blocks in between the chests.
It’s less space efficient but looks amazing!
Warehouses are never this neat and organized. Break up the symmetry, have it be messy.
There needs to be places for small boxes, big boxes, individual items, computers for people to work at, garbage cans, ladders or stairs to access boxes when a forklift isn't necessary. Depending on how much detail and what style you are going for you could even build some AC units, I beams overhead, etc.
Source, am currently at a warehouse.
bro u need to watch this random youtube guy i saw made a steampunk city for 300 hours or whatnot and he has one section as a warehouse o my god it was BEAUTIFUL incredible like fantastical truly with moving bits and bobs and scale and looked real af
You should remove every other row of chests, and replace them with slabs/trapdoors so it seems more like shelving. Also, reduce the chest volume - leave some gaps here and there. Maybe switch some out with barrels.
To me, this is painfully repetitive. There is no variety to give it interest or appeal.
A shelf knocked over, with merch spilled everywhere
[https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcR6H3h1\_rpHIqBaAWagbk3AV6SOfozWg6ovClZ5\_UtV6Q&s](https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcR6H3h1_rpHIqBaAWagbk3AV6SOfozWg6ovClZ5_UtV6Q&s)
Wooden pallets made of campfires, barrel squares to act as box pallets, a lever to activate lights inside the warehouse, forklifts, docking area for trucks, those metal scaffolding that they place around and hold product within the warehouse
I’ve seen a couple people list forklifts but what they haven’t said is that in (all factories I’ve worked in) there are usually designated roads/alleys for the forklifts to follow. If you put that in with a couple forklifts on the path it will eat up a lot of that open space.
Definitely needs more clutter and I’d suggest making shelves for your shelf to while giving it clutter give it a site line between shelves.
I’d also suggest squishing them together and making some areas spots you have to hop up on barrels/boxes to reach the other side.
Using spiderwebs for the ceiling would also add a nice sorta dingy vibe to it along with perhaps maybe some vehicle builds like forklifts. Most warehouses also have some truck bay doors so you could add some like slightly open ones to give the effect of the building being in operations also adding hanging ceiling lights with either the frog lights and chains or the rod light and chains.
Most warehouse walls also aren’t pristine white so maybe see if you can find some more grimy off colour white blocks to sprinkle into the wall too.
Use barrelf to simulate boxes all around the floor, I'd also recommend to make some stairs next to the chests to make it look like youre trynna reach the top section, I'd also recommend to add blocks like watermelons at certain corners to make it look like theres always something moving in, also make a truck exit, a garage and if possible make a way out of the blace with a boat and water to make it look like youre exporting products out of your facility
Campfires for empty pallets, wool carpets for direction lines, top half slabs for the cage grates, chains for the cage corners, big ass ceiling fans(these are a must ALL wearhouses have them), a pallet jack or forklift that's dropped a load( 😆 ) also maybe a few docks and support poles.
Less roof glass more end rods for flourescent. Missing racking. Less chests and more orange terracotta Josie Otal beams holding them would be good. Prismarine uprights in for the orange beams. Will pull the racking together.
colour on the floor with carpet or concrete would be good too to show boundaries. Yellow lines to direct traffic.
Missing fire extinguishers and eye was station.
Junk everywhere.
The aisles would need to be a lot more narrow.
Lots of doubts in the storage.
A dirty floor the floors are never cleaned
This information is from the past 2 years of experience as construction (I go into a lot of warehouses to get materials)
Needs one or two of [these](https://www.google.com/search?client=safari&sca_esv=d201d7626ec35994&hl=en-us&sxsrf=ADLYWIIeSp87kyX1QEB4yAdYoqUPeAJuTw:1715000479558&q=minecraft+forklift&uds=ADvngMiewSYc2MVpkKqt4Fnx3lDFxgiY8LI2e7tcVJNL26LvObW7AkGgVMiEMKfDZIdcX3H2BesdkEHJBosgj9GpP9VDjAMuDoW5tsjeMDRnJ7_ORwhAYe2R9caZrVfjr2GFlhTIZ47477N8m9zc4U8FVFaaDCDQWCDRgYT2wPGaFqdxtCTC3H5TpBo9dQYfuRoLtMseIY4zmxv8-9A6NB-Ame-Jl_9qD9d3xRaOHJiwBWRJQ__nNoVhs3e6RPbv2ZJa2LLYjQ79aaqYsskaXl01Da3xRaiVKxDNVg05B99KHI8ZoequwjWkNgF4PSPyUSugbySFNihzB5zoBhjPMuwIJm1GrNM7Qg&udm=2&prmd=isvnmbtz&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjpmv7SivmFAxWWhIkEHW_xDJkQtKgLegQIERAB&biw=393&bih=650&dpr=3).
I highly recommend watching BdoubleOOs video on how he basically remade the place he used to work at, it has the same setting as you and you might feel inspired by how he goes about it.
YT Link: [https://youtu.be/wTCjGgjLUCc](https://youtu.be/wTCjGgjLUCc)
More details. Look up pics of warehouses and see all the stuff they do. Little things like walls that would stop forklifts, painted routes, fire extinguishers and other safety stuff. You could even make a spill in one of the isles that’s marked off.
add dust to absolutely everything, and if you can make it so you feel a sense of hopelessness and dread whenever your inside the warehouse would be great.
Also make sure there is no AC and water can only be purchased at the vending machine for $3.00
What about the frames and support structures? Could add depth and realism to the build. Also, there are industrial builds on Pinterest and Reddit where I'm sure you could find, or even design your own, forklift.
Put sume angled beams at the ceiling. Most waehouses have shop lights as well so maybe add those. Stock on the floor helps too. Oh and also forklifts are a must. (Over 5+ years of warehouse experience)
Forklift, add chests/barrels on piles around. Maybe make a lunch room, big industrial overhead lights
You could also make the floor parts where forklifts drive more a little darker, just slighty
add scaffolding around the chests, might even be actually practical for getting things in and out of the chest, plus the color scheme of the scaffolds match the bamboo planks
Add in one of those cardboard box crushers, a truck loading dock, maybe a freezer and cooler, ladders, if you're making a map maybe you can add in some custom coded silver fish and endermites that are passive scurrying about. Also some hazard signs and fork lifts
A stack of "pallets" a forklift, stack of "cardboard" a "barrel of sweeping compound" and other such items. Few boxes on the ground in an organized messy way
Edit: and a few pump carts
Maybe put in some of those tin offices where you're standing. You know with those metal walls and drop ceiling. Not exactly sure how you'd replicate it in MC, but I think it'll add to space
And forklift... but you've read that in every other comment
Switch the chests for barrels instead, since multiple together would look more like a shipping container/large crate
Assuming you're going for aesthetics and not functionality
A forklift would look really good there imo
Great minds think alike
A "crashed" forklift would be the most realistic.
Crashed into a coffee machine.
Needs to be an angled forklift.
Literally clicked on the post to suggest a forklift
Same.
Along with lined walkways and forklift traffic paths
Gotta Make sure you’re Forklift certified, though.
Happy cake day!
Add more clutter and less space
E.g boxes a forklift more shelves
Set up piles of crates around, barrels would probably work, to clutter the place a bit
Support pillars. More lights. Forklift(s). Stuff scattered around the room like crates or stuff mid transport. Signs.
Add underpaid workers
So make it a villager hall
Omg this is an amazing idea
Costco food court with farmer villagers
Add bright yellow safety paths paths on the ground, walkways for people and driving areas for forklifts.
And make sure that nobody ever EVER pays attention to them lol
OSHA Certified
Wait, those exist?
If the warehouse is set up for people to walk in yeah
Tables with product samples and a wall of rotisserie chicken in the back.
Have you been to Costco recently?
…. Maybe.
Don't forget the bakery, the walk in freezer, and the sample carts.
Actual shelves with the chests on them rather than stacked chests
First things first, you need more storage, this clearly is not enough. Second may e if you design some shelf looking walls around it maybe?
No this is like a project for my hardcore world. Each section holds just over 1 million items. Its the 1 million warehouse
Am I the only one here who actually likes this style? I got to do this in my own world
Instead of just stacking chests, I'd go for a pattern of 2 or 3 chests then top trapdoor as a shelf.
You saw a lot of suggestions dor adding stuff (which are correct), but you will need some negative space as well. Remove every other or third row of chests and replace it with trapdoors or slabs for shelves. Also make empty spaces on shalves. That is, not every shelf should be filled to the brim. If you do not care about actual storage, throw different blocks that resemble boxes around.
Some orange stripes around the base of each column maybe. And a couple forklifts. I think you nailed it though.
Add paths and stripes to the floor. Maybe make some warehouse office, catwalks. Toilets, lunch area
On another note, this looks lo laggy. Maybe wanna not use actual chests
This is a project for my hardcore world. I'm storing 1 million of a bunch of items

Turret lift operator here, i vouch 100% on this advice.
You guys have been waiting for this for soo long :D
what are you storing jesus christ
36 million items
Yellow and black striping on the floor
Random stacks of pallets everywhere, piles of boxes with absolutely 0 sense of organization. Maybe some underpaid and overworked employees
It needs dust bunnies that ain’t been swept since the building was built And safety posters with rules that nobody follows/
Barrels and not chests. Also include empty shelves
add crates. 2x2 and/or 3x3 blocks like oak planks with signs all around (looks like it holds the crate together) add piles of stuff (random chests etc) add other blocks that (look like they) contain stuff like: composters, barrels (!!), looms, crafting tables, etc add workbenches maybe. Even more??? Well you would most def need a forklift... You just need one
Forklifts and random piles of boxes should be a necessity

You need to add safety lines. Think about where people need to walk to avoid forklifts and other vehicles
definitely some vehicles or workers, like other people said a forklift or if you have space maybe some semi trucks or vans to “ship” the product
Hazard lines on the floor to indicate safe walking areas
maybe build some non functional red stone machinery
You should remove every other row of chests, and replace them with slabs/trapdoors so it seems more like shelving. Also, reduce the chest volume - leave some gaps here and there. Maybe switch some out with barrels. To me, this is painfully repetitive. There is no variety to give it interest or appeal.
Add some OSHA violations?
Yellow lines along the floor marking walkways
Make some open containers full of product
A shelf knocked over, with merch spilled everywhere [https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcR6H3h1\_rpHIqBaAWagbk3AV6SOfozWg6ovClZ5\_UtV6Q&s](https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcR6H3h1_rpHIqBaAWagbk3AV6SOfozWg6ovClZ5_UtV6Q&s)
Wooden pallets made of campfires, barrel squares to act as box pallets, a lever to activate lights inside the warehouse, forklifts, docking area for trucks, those metal scaffolding that they place around and hold product within the warehouse
A fork lift and some pallets of stuff waiting around
Make some fork lifts...get some villagers and assign them some jobs. Use some rail network.
I’ve seen a couple people list forklifts but what they haven’t said is that in (all factories I’ve worked in) there are usually designated roads/alleys for the forklifts to follow. If you put that in with a couple forklifts on the path it will eat up a lot of that open space.
Square overhead lighting.
To look like fluorescents maybe frog lights.
Forklift, also maybe some 2x2x2 barrels or bits on “pallets” of inverted stairs
I’d say add some catwalks to provide access to all that storage!
Fluorescent lights
I feel like replacing the chests with no floating shelves could be good
Less light( but hanging lights), yellow lines for paths/crosswalks, and forklifts. Also number and lettering for aisles.
Definitely needs more clutter and I’d suggest making shelves for your shelf to while giving it clutter give it a site line between shelves. I’d also suggest squishing them together and making some areas spots you have to hop up on barrels/boxes to reach the other side. Yeah I've tried using bone blocks now for this
Forklift or two
Plastic bottles full of urine
A forklift or pallets with boxes on.
one word: #BIGGER
Are you going to use those chests? If not then make containers with iron looking blocks rather all chest... my opinion atleast
Forklifts
Put the chests on shelves made of walls and smooth stone slabs
Add ladders, like. A shit ton of realistic ladders of all sizes
barrels instead of chests for some of the aisles maybe? barrels are pretty warehouse-ey
Add a forklift etc, some kinds of stepladders
I saw a good small forklift build on this sub recently I think. Give it a lookup I think a few of them would add alot
put some marks on the ground, like instructions lines, alsou some detailes like some crates and some blocks to be stored goods
Make some pallets that aren't getting any use
Add some forklifts
Add a middle manager that takes their job far to serious but at the same time does the absolute bare minimum
Add villagers and then prohibit them from forming a union
Yellow lines on the floor
Campfires for empty pallets, wool carpets for direction lines, top half slabs for the cage grates, chains for the cage corners, big ass ceiling fans(these are a must ALL wearhouses have them), a pallet jack or forklift that's dropped a load( 😆 ) also maybe a few docks and support poles.
Blocks separating some chests to simulate racking?
More chests
I knew I was underselling the place!
A dirty floor the floors are never cleaned This information is from the past 2 years of experience as construction (I go into a lot of warehouses to get materials)
remove every single chest and replace them with barrels or vaults. the amount of lag these chests produce is crazy
Needs one or two of [these](https://www.google.com/search?client=safari&sca_esv=d201d7626ec35994&hl=en-us&sxsrf=ADLYWIIeSp87kyX1QEB4yAdYoqUPeAJuTw:1715000479558&q=minecraft+forklift&uds=ADvngMiewSYc2MVpkKqt4Fnx3lDFxgiY8LI2e7tcVJNL26LvObW7AkGgVMiEMKfDZIdcX3H2BesdkEHJBosgj9GpP9VDjAMuDoW5tsjeMDRnJ7_ORwhAYe2R9caZrVfjr2GFlhTIZ47477N8m9zc4U8FVFaaDCDQWCDRgYT2wPGaFqdxtCTC3H5TpBo9dQYfuRoLtMseIY4zmxv8-9A6NB-Ame-Jl_9qD9d3xRaOHJiwBWRJQ__nNoVhs3e6RPbv2ZJa2LLYjQ79aaqYsskaXl01Da3xRaiVKxDNVg05B99KHI8ZoequwjWkNgF4PSPyUSugbySFNihzB5zoBhjPMuwIJm1GrNM7Qg&udm=2&prmd=isvnmbtz&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjpmv7SivmFAxWWhIkEHW_xDJkQtKgLegQIERAB&biw=393&bih=650&dpr=3).
Less windows
Pipes/ducts, forklifts and other vehicles, huge lights. Replace the chests with a different design if possible.
Label the isles and shelves, add forklifts and pallet jacks, add random boxes and pallets and file cabinets.
Make a pallet (possible use fire pits?) with some blocks on it and a nearby forklift somehow lol.
**GRAY**
Warehouses often have lines on the ground to show where people can walk and where vehicles drive.
Make it darker
Villagers hopelessly wandering about. Every warehouse needs its minimum wage workers
Underpaid workers
More details. Look up pics of warehouses and see all the stuff they do. Little things like walls that would stop forklifts, painted routes, fire extinguishers and other safety stuff. You could even make a spill in one of the isles that’s marked off.
add dust to absolutely everything, and if you can make it so you feel a sense of hopelessness and dread whenever your inside the warehouse would be great. Also make sure there is no AC and water can only be purchased at the vending machine for $3.00
Make double walls so it has a different texture inside
Loose piles of crates, forklifts, those ladders on wheels to reach the high boxes, desks filled with clutter
A forklift, some more Storage areas wich arent funktional but look handy, a wharehouse crane running on a rail at the cealing
You need a forklift
White lines onthe ground delimiting forklift roads and yellow lines delimiting peasant/worker pathways
Forklift.
add a forklift (sorry i dont know how to write it)
Build a lil forklift and pallets w barrels, or chests as if you’re actually using it to stock the shelves.
What about the frames and support structures? Could add depth and realism to the build. Also, there are industrial builds on Pinterest and Reddit where I'm sure you could find, or even design your own, forklift.
Put a chest or crate that fell on a cardboard looking box and crushed it right below one of the stacks
Put sume angled beams at the ceiling. Most waehouses have shop lights as well so maybe add those. Stock on the floor helps too. Oh and also forklifts are a must. (Over 5+ years of warehouse experience)
iron trap door shelves with chests, barrels, and bee hives instead of just chests
Needs more forklift
Shipping containers
All those chests gotta be lag city?
Support pillars, pedestrian walkways, safety barriers, signage and floor markings, overhead lights, and if you really want, some MHEs
Shelves for the chests to sit on.
Girder racks with shelves every 3 levels.
Add sadness! And cigarettes.
Every big warehouse like this has a conveyor belt
Forklift, add chests/barrels on piles around. Maybe make a lunch room, big industrial overhead lights You could also make the floor parts where forklifts drive more a little darker, just slighty
I would use yellow concrete for those columns and add some dashed yellow/black caution lines at the end of each bay
Pillars and shelves to separate the chest god
add scaffolding around the chests, might even be actually practical for getting things in and out of the chest, plus the color scheme of the scaffolds match the bamboo planks
forklift & maybe some large shipping containers
Do Frames
Add in one of those cardboard box crushers, a truck loading dock, maybe a freezer and cooler, ladders, if you're making a map maybe you can add in some custom coded silver fish and endermites that are passive scurrying about. Also some hazard signs and fork lifts
Use slabs for shelving and throw in some barrels too,
Iron shelf's, barrels with spruce pressure plates on them, random "junk" designs and other "experimental" style builds
Use barrels, scaffolding, chains, etc.
Yellow lines to mark where not to park forklifts and pallet jacks etc.
Industrial ductwork. Giant breaker boxes. Catwalk. Giant overhead lights.
Add in a bunch of under payed workers.
Put bamboo on all corners and then sum, make it into shelving that wraps along all the chests
Random-ahh barrels all over
I would remove every other row and place slabs there so it looks more like shelves
Maybe more ceiling support beams in that same yellow colour
Now *that's* a chest monster! I suggest a catwalk.
Unless you need this many chests, actual shelves.
Jesus
1: Shaders 2: Make it darker 3: add faceless Ikea worker You've Done It!
Vents
A stack of "pallets" a forklift, stack of "cardboard" a "barrel of sweeping compound" and other such items. Few boxes on the ground in an organized messy way Edit: and a few pump carts
Build it until you see fog in the distance
Scaffolding
Add some zombies, legit, but also just surround them by a few fences so 1) they can’t escape and 2), that’s how it actually feels.
Are you forklift certified?
is this an actual survival storage room? if yes then how are you getting to the higher chests
Lights, support frames, forklifts, other crates in transit on forklifts. A delivery bay/zone?
Pallets. Pallets everywhere.
As someone who works in a warehouse, add random shit, (debris, pallets, etc) everywhere up and down the aisles
Add a Spider-Man chilling somewhere between the boxes.
Put the rows closer together, except it’s a pallet warehouse. If it’s supposed to be for pallets it’s fine
Maybe put in some of those tin offices where you're standing. You know with those metal walls and drop ceiling. Not exactly sure how you'd replicate it in MC, but I think it'll add to space And forklift... but you've read that in every other comment
Cargo containers
Pallets of boxes on the ground
A bunch of conveyor belt ?
Wow I am extremely impressed absolutely stunning build
Put a forklift
Ball pit in a kiddie pool
I tried making a long comment and reddit bugged out, i can do it again in a bit
Switch the chests for barrels instead, since multiple together would look more like a shipping container/large crate Assuming you're going for aesthetics and not functionality
Boxes (barrels might look good) in random places. Also, I'm wondering what you're building this for
Couple forklifts and some semis parked outside the bay doors so it looks like they are getting loaded up or dropping off stuff
Use burnt out campfires as pallets
Needs "cameras" and an AP office with a bed 🤣
A compactor filled with cardboard from the previous shift.
Shelves if it hasn't already been mentioned.
Less natural light
Ehh maybe some iron bars? Something with metal lol, not enough metal here to give industrial vibes.
Racks. Your chest lanes should have vertically distinct layers to stack pallets onto. Also, pallets of stuff in the middle of the lanes.
line the walls with racks full of decrepit, useless supplies that no one uses. Glow lichen everywhere to mimic dust.
A mess where a shelf fell over and people have given up on it.
A couple forklifts moving about would be cool
Conveyer belts
hanging lights
if its an amazon warehouse, remove all restrooms
Forklift
Add some trash. Something broken perhaps.
I can feel my FPS drop from here 😂
I got flashbacks to 100 ways to die in Minecraft. That wouldn’t be a tnt storehouse would it?
