I have a gradient with tuff, cobblestone, andesite, stone, light gray wool, and smooth stone. A lava cast is a good idea for just cobble and it would be fast, but I like more variety of blocks.

Gtfo. It's not a starter base (you can literally see a beacon beam in the corner) nor is it without a plan, nor did it take "about an hour". Yeah with world edit and voxel maybe. Not in standard creative and definitely not survival.

What is the technique to make the map?

From the middle map, I put paper and the map in a cartography table to make it larger, them I move 250 blocks in each direction to take a new map and do the same with the paper.
