So to make 10k in three months you will need to save 850 a week in order to make your goal, if you’re working 40 hours now with a job paying 15 an hour you’re making about 600 a week pretax so if you work another job at the same rate for about 20 hours a week you will have enough to save for the trip. Only question is if that’s even possible for you and your situation. If I were u I would just shorten the trip to a week and save up 5k, Japan is fairly cheap the most money you’ll spend is on the plane ticket there and your passport if you don’t have one, my coworker just visited and he only spent like 3k for 5 days and that included food, hotels, and transportation.

lol you're set up to be perpetually broke throughout your entire life. > i was just a stupid teenager I think you meant to use present tense here.

stewajt

Exactly. OP simply not afford this trip. I’m all for goals and dreams, but this is a great way to start adulthood off in a huge hole and OP will spend their best years of compound growth paying off debt instead of

Go to Alaska and work fishing. Apply for Trident Seafoods. They require no experience at all, they teach it all. You will make $5k-$7k a month. They give you food, housing, laundry, and utilities to live. They have 401k totalling a 5% match. Other benefits as insurance as well. Apply for any manufacturing, Operation and production, seafood processor, and Shoreplant positions.[Trident Seafoods - Alaska Jobs](https://www.tridentseafoods.com/join-our-team/job-openings/)

So you re italian?

WizardMageCaster

Easiest way? Borrow money from a lender and pay it back over time (with interest). Harder way? Work for it and you'll need to make about 15k in order to take home 10k. That's 5k a month you need to make. Not impossible but extremely challenging for a 17 year old. Several folks have given you options in the comments on how to make 5k a month. My advice - focus on school and postpone your Japan trip until your early 20s. It won't be much different for you because 21 vs. 18 isn't that much physically & mentally.

How much for a family of 3?

fffrdcrrf

You could do a trip like that for half of that with proper planning. Get more hours at work or a second job, if your looking for a quick and easy way out then go for it but don’t necessarily have high hopes that you’ll get there with the easy out. You’ll probably need a second job, if you’re young and physical then look into physical labor. Entry level physical labor usually pays high and doesn’t require much know how, the only thing it requires is being in shape, listening to directions, and having a positive attitude.

shreddedtoasties

How much you got rn

SugarWithCoffeee

/:if you don't even have the money to begin with why would anyone spend 10k on a trip and go broke right after you gotta set yourself some kind of ground level for yourself before even thinking if somthing like thsi

Last-Promotion2199

I just got back from Japan and spent $3k on food, hotels, and souvenirs. You might be able to find a cheap flight but usually that comes with bad drives and long layovers. It might be better to do Japan when you can splurge and not worry about money $

Technical_Monitor_38

1. You don’t need $10K. At your age, the backpacking/hostel experience would be way more fun than doing a high-end tour. My daughter just did 10 days in Europe for less than $2k. 2. You are 18 for 12 months. You don’t have to fly to Japan the day of your birthday. You’ll still be 18 in a year, so just start working and saving.

TomatilloFearless154

Europe is not japan. Trains for 1 week in japan cost 300$ so 15 day is at least: 700$ flight 600$ trains 700$ somewhere to sleep 700$ food 500$ stuff to buy/ tickets etc 300$ other way of movin that is not train and tickets It's 3500$ at least.

joshua0005

Why do you want to do it when you turn 18? Why do you have to do it exactly when you turn 18? I recommend if this is really your dream that you first finish high school and then if you still don't have enough money you keep working after you graduate until you get enough. You might have to take a gap semester though which is okay, especially if you aren't certain about what you want to do. I got a warehouse job after high school for $16 an hour (and later got a $1 raise) and made a little under $5k in 2 months. I live in a LCOL area though and had a tiny bit of overtime because it was required so depending on where you live and how much your job pays it might take more or less time. If you get a warehouse job **do not** agree to do anything that requires you to lift more than 50lb regularly. I started packing boxes that were only 50lb or less but after a month I took that $1 raise but I had to lift 50-80lb items all day. I ended up spraining my neck about a month later and it got so tight and I was terrified I was going to be paralyzed. It's been a year and a half and I am mostly healed but if I try to lift something more than 10-20lb my neck still bothers me (yes I have been to the doctor so don't tell me to go).

heyguys33-

Got it, so no lifting packages for an extra $1 seems like that’s self evident but okay

GingerDelicious

You didn’t start when you were 10, so you didn’t really want to go when you were 10. You’re still a stupid teenager.
