Rise is very fun, it's just different. The end game loop of sunbreak is very interesting though.
There's also some very cool monsters in it as well. Don't let the graphics dissuade you from enjoying it. The main problem with it on switch is the 30fps, it'll run 60fps on the other consoles.
Also wirebug mechanics and switch skills are super fun.
Yeah I love MHW but it’s my only MH game and it’s a huge departure from every other one. I tried the demo for Rise and I’ve watched videos about it and I have absolutely no interest in it. I genuinely feel like the wirebug special skills and some other random moveset changes make a mockery of most weapons as I understand them from World/Iceborne. I understand weapons change from game to game but I really dislike almost every change they made in Rise. Feels like every weapon with a meter or charge mechanic has a spammable counter/move that lets you completely skip charging it. LS for example, wirebug moves that instantly level up your spirit gauge level, spirit iai instantly levels up your gauge, helm breaker has been trivialized to the point it’s impossible to miss… Also I really dislike wyvernriding. Not to mention all the technical downgrades due to being made for the Switch. However, given the massive success of World, I think they’d be stupid not to make a direct successor to it, and I really hope that’s what their next game is. I just hope whatever new gimmick they add doesn’t fuck up the game like the clutch claw or the wirebugs.
While I appreciate the convenience of wirebugs, it just made the game feel cheap and arcadey. I want to feel like a Hunter who has to plan every move carefully, not like Spider-Man. The speed of the monsters also got tuned up too fast to compensate and they don’t feel like natural creatures anymore. Wyvern riding also feels like a cheap gimmick that belongs in a children’s game.
The weapon designs are definitely better in Rise but everything else from immersion, lore, environments and gameplay were too over the top. There’s other hack and slash games out already if you wanna feel like a power ranger but there’s no substitute for World
Regarding your comment about the wire bug skills, that's something I noticed with the Charge Blade: Why would I ever use guard points if the wirebugs can do the same job AND charge my phials instantly AND immediately go into Ultra Burst and it offers passive Guard the Charge Blade doesn't have without armor skills, aside from some slight downsides (can't Daigo Parry Basarios' fire farts, longer recovery time if it misses, etc.)
They did similar with pc for rise and world it just causes division. Cross play and same time release for all platforms for next game pls you’ll have a bustling community of active players.
Definitely this. Already the game will be divided on those consoles between veterans, who are waiting for sunbreak to not waste their time with high rank, and newbies, won't get good guidance, since rise promotes rushing through hunts asap, and nothing is really challenging besides the deviant reskins with 0 reason to actually hunt them more than once or twice.
What kills it for me is the no village quest COOP. MHW was a hassle but you could leave after the cutscene and come back with your partner. Been playing this with my wife for 2 years now. I feel like if we only do hub quests we will miss on a lot in Rise.
Maybe, but I'd call it a different taste in style, not necessarily worse graphics.
It's like cell shading, some games look worse than others at face value but it's the art style that does it, not the graphics themselves
I've played it on the switch and it just doesn't hold my attention. I just keep coming back to world. MAYBE it'll be better on a better console than the switch but my hopes are not high.
Couldnt really get into rise. Controls are worse than in world, graphics were okayish, world was empty, rolling got nerfed, hitboxes are wonky, weapons are locked in the direction of the attack (perfect rush cant turn for example). Just overall a lot worse experience after world for me where ive spent almost 2k hours. New attacks were nice tho but didnt care for the wirsebug system.
I've gone through base rise on Switch and logged about 500 hours. I went through base rise and sunbreak on PC and logged about 200. I absolutely refuse to purchase Rise/Sunbreak AGAIN. Crossplay should have been implemented at PC launch.
I would prefer if the expansion came with it. Still getting it though. I'm hoping the expansion will release with the title updates that other systems already have.
First. That way people don't skip the base game like they did in World. Although controversial I believe they should have locked Iceborne behind a Hunter Rank. I'd say 100.
I'm near the end of iceborne
Rank 50 just achieved.
HELL NAW. Rank 100!? I'd have dropped the game by then. Don't get me wrong, game rocks, but getting to rank 100 doing the same shit over and over is like trying to grind for a couple million in crew 2. Heavily monotonous grind
HR 100 is a bit too high, people just wanna play with their friends in Master Rank.
Also, new players still need to grind to MR 100 for Guiding Land anyway. So just leave the heavy grinding to end game and let them do it in one go.
I’m going through high rank in World on my playstation rn and it’s so much fun! On my pc file I ran straight into Iceborne to play with friends and while that’s still fun, I definitely missed a LOT of QoL upgrades. I think HR 60-70 would be a good entry for Iceborne, that way you get to experience tempered elders for a little bit before MR
Can’t wait to Rise release! Whit World I played the base game and after a few months iceborne came out, I enjoyed more the base game and the expansion with a pause between them, so I like the idea to wait for the expansion to enjoy more both of them
I am psyched! I actually took the day off work. I like that they are delaying the expansion's release. It will encourage to actually enjoy the game rather than trying to rush through the content.
I'm somebody with over 500 hours on rise.
My advice is to play around with it to get used to it if you have game pass. If not, wait for sunbreak.
A lot of the end-game grind becomes obsolete with sunbreak. You can also power through the main story of base rise in a couple of days, especially if you're a veteran of the series.
The trinket system, rampage weapons, getting the perfect Palico, and obviously the HR gear all becomes obsolete with sunbreak.
The game is very fun. It's in my top 3 favorite monster hunter games of all time and I'm a first fleeter. My favorite is World/iceborne
I prefer that they release expansion in spring. Gives me time to enjoy the base game without the new stuff.
Yep i think so aswell

Man I only wish the game has at the very least World’s graphic quality. But I’m extremely convinced it won’t *sighs*

Im thinking the same bro....

Everything's better on consoles than switch

I’m glad you don’t work for capcom, because locking iceborne behind hr100 would be a nightmare

yea good luck with farming to MR 100 for sunbreak title update content :)
😖 Please no.
It'd be a complete nightmare.
We can already tell

100 may be a bit high. Honestly anything to get people to check out more of the cool stuff in base World.

I got my reservation for the game. I can’t wait!!!
If I play Rise was everything from MHW for nothing? All those hundreds of hours lost?
Did you have fun?
So much. _All I want is some momento to carry with me. Give me a pendant or something._
You can carry World experience and knowledge. Even if monsters and movesets will be different, the hunter that plays still is the same
Create the same Hunter you used in world. Now he's been to the new world, and wherever the fuck rise takes place at
I reserved it on ps5 can't wait aswell!
Already preorder it... Again (previous in pc).
